Shaw Academy ignore my emails and refuse to refund me money they stole from my bank account.
Shaw Academy advertised a free excel course on facebook. Once I realised you had to purchase the course (which was advertised for free) I declined to go ahead with course. Three weeks later I find they have charged me anyway, taken (stolen) money from my bank account for the course even though I declined to take part in the course and asked them to stop their continuous emails. They lied to Paypal, Paypal refuse to help and they ignore my emails, and so far have declined to refund the money they have stolen.

Thankyou, but that makes it all the more insulting,
"As a good will gesture"
It should have been done in the first place when I first asked,
and it should not be a "GOOD WILL GESTURE" What complete ***.
These people did the wrong thing by me and I stand by that.
They are not a place that should do business with the public, especially
when you offer free courses, then expect the customer to pay for it anyway.
That is a scam.

I need a refund for a subscription that I cancelled - I do not want any other service that you offer
During the Pandemic this company was only Facebook feeds so much that I thought taking a class during this time would be beneficial.
However, I attended the class one time and realized this is not what I am looking for. You cannot understand the operator and the screen is blurry - so I emailed and called Shaw Academy to cancell this service. Since I home schooling my 6yr old I did not follow up however, when I sent another email they have not responded again. Now that I was charged the 69.99 and I responded to this charge, they responded and this is their response " Hence, we will not be able to process the refund as per our membership terms and revenue recognition policies which we cannot alter."
Regardless of how I feel about their service, they do not want to refund my money - their practices are not fair and should not be able to do business in the USA or anywhere, how do you make me use your services, NO this is not fair

I was charged for a subscription before my trial ended with Shaw academy. I tried to cancel but I was not allowed to and I had no help along the way.
I came here because I am infuriated with Shaw academy. Terrible terrible company. I decided to learn something new while being quarantined, so I signed up for their free trial. After a while, I did not like the course layout so I wanted to cancel my subscription and get a refund. Most companies allow you to make the cancellation fee as smooth as possible but Shaw academy makes you go through multiple steps and asks you to call a number that does not even work. I tried to cancel my subscription before the ending trial but there was no way possible. In the process of trying to cancel your membership, they try to sell you other discounted deals, DO NOT FALL FOR IT and do not click any one-click purchases. And now I want my money back because this was not supposed to happen. I will be making a complaint on this company for action fraud and report it to the bank so that way this business can be shut down. They are taking advantage of people during this hard time and it isn't fair! If I do not get my refund IMMEDIATELY, I will be taking legal action. THIS COMPANY HAS TO BE STOPPED. I was charged $69.99 before my subscription even ended! My ending trial was set for May 28, 2020 and I tried cancelling the day of but I was not allowed to. The process was extremely difficult and I had no help whatsoever. Its basically impossible to unsubscribe.

I just want my refund because I tried to cancel my subscription BEFORE the trial even ended. The cancellation process was extremely difficult and the instructions were not clear at all. I have proof that I was charged before my subscription ended. I want an IMMEDIATE refund so that way I can block this company from utilizing my information without authorization.

Canceled before free trail was up and was still charged
I sign up for the 4 week free trail, knowing the if I cancel before 5/28/20 I would not charged. There was no cancellation button on my account when I decide to cancel and my membership status said inactive. I email the support team on 5/14/20, two weeks before the free trail Ended telling them I would like to cancel my account. I Receive a response the next day saying they could find my account and that there was no billing information attach so I would not be charged. I have the emails I sent and what was sent to me as evidence along with a screenshot of the charge to my account and the inactive status that is in the Shaw academy profile on my account. Yesterday 5/28/20 I seen a charge for $69.99 and I would like a refund. I should not have been charge because I cancel during the free trail phase.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge to my paypal account and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their course.
As soon I saw the charge on my account, I reached there customer support and requested for refund. They raised a ticket number (#XXXXXXX) for the same but after a day, they said that you have bought the course of 39.95$ by using buy now option and refused to refund. I have no knowledge about this purchase and looks like they have intentionally implemented this feature where the users are not provided any information or confirmation that they are buying things. They gave me $199 store credit to use in their website but I want my dollar amount charged to be refunded as I have never intentionally purchased any course or haven't downloaded it anytime. Now they are not responding to my email also.

I was billed a month after cancelling my membership.
I created my membership on April 27, and cancelled it the same day. After speaking with a representative on the phone, it was understood that my membership has been cancelled, and I have an email confirmation of that. I did not attend any classes after that, even though I kept receiving emails from Shaw Academy. On May 25 I was billed $34.99 for one month of classes, even though my membership had been cancelled during my free trial, and I had not attended any classes.
After opening a case with the Shaw Academy customer service team, I was told that I did not cancel my membership during my free trial, as per their terms and conditions. That is just not true; I cancelled on the same day that I started my one-month free trial. I replied explaining my case, but have not received a response.

Desired Outcome

I would simply like a refund of the amount billed to me on May 25 because I did not use their service at all, so this is not a fair exchange, and I am compliant with the terms of service.

I've attached the screenshot of my cancellation, which I received at 17:08 EST, which would be at 22:08 BST, right after my subscription was created.
Though I kept receiving emails, I did not attend any classes.

I cancelled my four week free trial, but was charged I emailed them because I was charged yesterday, when asked for a refund they said no.
I had started a four week free trial course. I cancelled it at least a week before it was due to end. I followed the instructions here: https://help.shawacademy.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXXXXX-How-do-I-cancel-my-s... and it told me I had successfully canceled my trial. Next think I know they are charging me for another subscription and I emailed them to ask for a refund because I had cancelled my trial and did not want to continue with the classes. Since I didn't take any classes during the Trial and they chose to tell me that they were not going to issue a refund. They also gave me the link to their terms page. I did not want my money back because I forgot to cancel, I want my money back because I did cancel and was still charged. Especially in a time like now where COVID is invading peoples lives and jobs.

Desired Outcome

I would simply like a refund for 69.99. I don't want any more "free classes" I don't really care how much money they are worth. I just want those 69.99 back.

This learning platform exploits customers through 1-click purchases that they claim cannot be refunded. You cannot even buy on Amazon with 1-click.
This online learning platform bombards customers with ads and promotions for ad-on services and products. You have to exit all these ads to access the content you're already paying for. If you mistakenly click "purchase" instead of "exit" (which is easy to do on a touchscreen laptop or phone), the website automatically charges your credit card on file. No confirmation page, no additional pop-up asking "Are you sure?" When I contacted Customer Service just 5-minutes later, they said that the purchase could not be refunded because the content I purchased had already been released to me. I have not viewed nor downloaded said content. This exploiting sales scheme coupled with their out-dated educational material means this business will be history within a couple of years. But not before I get my money back from these thieves.

I have been verbally issued a refund. I am still waiting to see the actual refund hit my account. I am also waiting to see this company change its sales techniques and eliminate one-click entrapment purchases. No other platform has such an unnecessary feature that is clearly only aimed at trapping customers into buying add-ons they do not want.

I cancelled my subscription and 2 months later they reactivated my subscription without my permission and withdrew money from my PayPal.
In April I unsubscribed from free trial period of Shaw Academy.
I cancelled everything and it was also noted like that in my login information.
I looked it up to be sure.
Today, unexpected, I was charged 49,99 euro.
I never signed up for this and I never reactivated my account.
Today I logged in and saw that my account is on Premium Membership, while I did not give permission for this.
I would like them to change my status to NO MEMBERSHIP and send me a refund.

still getting payment deductions after cancelling my membership and Shaw academy emailed saying no more payments will go through even after disputing!
I signed up for a trial then cancelled before the month was up. Was then charged for the next month even though I'd cancelled membership. Then emailed ShAw Academy disputing this then in the email it said the person has cancelled my membership and no further payments will go through. 2 weeks later and payments are still going on my account even after cancelling my membership and one of your staff emailing saying they have made sure my account is closed!!!

Shaw Academy has charged me 3 times totaling £139.93. Each payment was not authorized by myself.
I had cancelled my Shaw Academy membership twice. I have disputed claims which have been ignored. I was charged £39.95 on 8 Apr for a toolkit that I did not purchase. I was charged on 29 Apr and 27 May both an amount of £49.99 for a membership that I had cancelled on 20 Apr.

Charged despite membership cancellation
I had called on May 21st to cancel my membership with Shaw Academy. While on the phone, the person assured me twice that I would no longer be billed for my membership and everything was cancelled. On May 25th, I see a $69.99 charge on my bank statement from Shaw Academy despite the fact that I was told no more charges would be made. When I logged into the account, it showed that everything was still active. The person I spoke with on the phone had not done anything to cancel my membership and lied to me, causing me to have $69.99 taken, if not stolen, out of my account.

Desired Outcome

I am expecting a full refund from this company and will not say the issue is resolved until I see the money returned to my bank account.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorised charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I have never purchased their services.
On 21st May 2020 I saw a payment from my Paypal account for £49.99 to Shaw Academy. I emailed them straight away saying "I have not signed up with Shaw Academy and was very surprised to see charges of £49.99 being taken from my account. Would be very grateful if you could refund this to me and cancel the account." I have received emails back from them saying the usual this is your membership charges as you did not cancel and I keep telling them that I have not signed up for any of their services. I don't know what else to do and judging from the review online I fear the they will attempt everything to keep my money for no reason.

My name is ***

I signed up for the free course. But, upon completion you have to pay for the certificate. All while during the course you are emailed and texted constantly offering you a hard copy for 39.95. I thought I would be able to get an emailed copy of the certificate. But no, you have no proof of taking the class unless you pay the 39.95. So needless to say I was charged 39.95 to be able to take the final exam and an emailed copy of the Certificate. I would like my 39.95 back.

I signed up for a free trial for 4 weeks on the 26th March 2020, however on the same day I decided to cancel once I got more information on the course. I emailed Shaw Academy on the same day (26 March 2020) asking for them to cancel my account and made it very clear that I am not happy for them to charge me for this service in 4 weeks time. They replied asking for a few more details and I got back to them with the necessary details straight away. Since then I have not heard back! I have sent numerous emails, checking the progress of the case and again asserting that I did not authorise to be charged and that I want to cancel my account. They did not respond to me at all and they had a whole month to get back to me and cancel the transaction. On 23 April 2020 I was charged £49.99. This needs to be refunded back to me as it was not authorised.

I contacted Shaw Academy as per their instruction on this case. They got back to me with the below on 9th June 2020.
"Your refund will be processed within 24 hours. It will be with you in max 7 days and most likely sooner."

I have given them plenty of time and still have not received my refund. I have been more than patient since April for this refund.

I would like to escalate this case, as I don't trust that they will process a refund for me.

Will not offer refund after they did not follow through on what was stated
Advertised as being able to complete a course with a free trial. It is not made known that you will only get ONE module of course for free until AFTER an account is made. In order to finish the course, you have to pay for 3 months. It was also stated that an email will be received prior to the free trial ending and this DID NOT happen. When I was charged the full premium amount, I email with this issue to get a refund as I did not complete any of the course due to the set up (which also was NOT fully explained prior to signing up). They refused my refund even after I brought up these numerous issues. They are treat you condescendingly when you want to cancel; going on for almost 10 minutes after trying to cancel to get you to continue. And there is no option to speak with an actual person on the phone; you must email them. When I asked to speak with someone else, I received no response

Free trial cancelled - they claim it wasn't and charged subscription fee anyway.
I signed up to a 4 week free trial, it wasn't what I needed so stopped using but had a reminder to cancel the last day of the free trial. I went through the full cancel process (you get several pages of them trying to throw services at you and for you not to cancel) and finally got to the you've unsubscribed page. The next day I was charged the subscription fee, when I emailed they don't me I didn't unsubscribe and will not refund me even though I will not be using the service and said I must not have unsubscribed; I definitely did since I most definitely would not pay £49.99 for that service.

After complaining here and on TrustPilot, Shaw academy finally got back to me and have issued a refund. Although this does mean they are lying when they say they can't issue refunds...

Unauthorised payment has been made from my account
I have been charged for course material through Shaw Academy without my authorisation. I was offered credit of $199 from Shaw on 16th May when my account renewed automatically without being made aware so I could use this for course material and certificates as written in the email. They mentioned this credit was activated to use and at no point said I had to wait a certain time. When I chose to try out the course material on 18th May I was then charged £39.50 for this, and didn't have any option to cancel the payment. I have contacted Shaw over email on a number of occasions and received bot responses, one stating I had to wait 72 hours which was never mentioned and not answering my queries which is highly frustrating. There doesn't seem to be any other way to contact Shaw or use the credit offered.

I've been charged for a membership that I've been trying to cancel for over a month now.
I have attempted to contact Shaw Academy multiple times trying to cancel my membership. After several calls with no answers in addition to calls where I have been on hold for unreasonable amounts of time I decided to email. I contacted the billing department and the PayPal department through email on two separate occasions, still no response. My card has been charged $69.99 for a membership that I do not use and have been trying to cancel ALL MONTH. This is extremely unfair, especially seeing that this is during a global pandemic, to take money out of consumers' accounts while avoiding and ignoring their attempts is cancel is beyond unethical. I want a refund IMMEDIATELY. I paid through Paypal using this email address (***@gmail.com) and I attached a copy of the receipt.

submitted email to cancel the free trial. I was charged a few days later. They refuses to issue refund and will only provide free yr of their service
I reached out on 5/20 to cancel the free trial before it ended on 5/21. Company advised they did not process the cancellation until 5/23 thus why I was charged. I have reached out multiple times and I keep getting responses that offer me free things and not explaining why refund won't be processed when I submitted cancellation in a timely manner on my end. I only want my account cancelled and a refund processed.

I would like a full refund as I have cancelled the service, I would not like a free year of their service as a resolution
