I canceled my subscription with Shaw on March 26, 2020, and I have discovered they are continuing to charge my account and have refused refunding me.
I canceled my subscription with Shaw on March 26, 2020. At the time, I had started a free trial with them. I quickly figured out that it would be too much work during my actual college classes during the semester. I proceeded to cancel the subscription the day after beginning it without attending a single class. I have email evidence of my cancelation, and I expressed some difficulties at the time with their methods of canceling a membership. I do not regularly check my charges on my card, so I missed an April 20th charge of 69.99 on my account, but I saw it before the next month. I emailed Shaw asking for my account to be actually canceled (it still has shown on my Shaw account that it's canceled since March, and the payments aren't even showing on my account in their website). My emails with Shaw started on May 17th. Right after I began my correspondence asking for a refund, Shaw charged my account again, for 69.99, a couple days earlier than the renewal date (May 18th this time). I have since had numerous emails with "Gomes" from Shaw. They still have yet to agree to issue a refund to my account for the total of 139.98 at this point.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a complete refund of $139.98 for the two months of wrongful charges. I also would like to receive a formal apology from Shaw and recognition of the malpractice.

Shaw Academy made unauthorized charge to my free trial hours after I signed up, violating their own terms and conditions.
I have seen Shaw Academy for years and they seem to be a legitimate business so, upon coming across a 4-week free trial on one of their graphic design course, I decided to check it out. I signed up late at night on May 17th and the system notified me that I will be charged if I don't cancel prior to Jun 14th. Yet, I woke up the very next day to see $69.99 deducted from my account. Consequently, my "free trial" became a premium membership with a monthly subscription of $69.99/month without my consent.
Some excerpts quoted from their terms and conditions:
"... hereby authorize Shaw Academy to charge your credit card on a regular basis to pay the fees AS THEY ARE DUE."
...
"We will bill any Payment Method provided by You for your monthly membership fee AT THE END OF THE FREE TRIAL PERIOD unless you cancel your membership prior to the end of the free trial period."
-> The supposedly 4-week-long trial had barely started by May 18th and I had not even had my first class yet. No extra fees are due as per their terms and conditions, either.
I did contact their customer support immediately following the unauthorized transaction to ask for a refund. The support representative talked in circles without actually noting my complaints/arguments, repeatedly citing the fact that I agreed to their terms and conditions as grounds to refuse a refund for my "free trial". As I have demonstrated above with those short excerpts, Shaw Academy violated their terms and conditions while I have not. While the support representative has agreed to cancel my subscription, the subscription is set to expire on May 21st, 2021 - ONE YEAR LATER. There is no guarantee that Shaw Academy will not make unauthorized charge again during this one-year period. Other complaints on Revdex.com have also shown that a refund is possible, which suggests that the support representative that I contacted was being dishonest and deliberately tried to wear me down so I would stop pursuing this case.
Desired Outcome
A full refund of the unauthorized fee I was charged with, along with the immediate cancellation/deletion of my account to prevent any further charge. No alternative solution. No "extend your account to _ months worth $__ free of charge" or anything similar.

Charged my twice: once for an account that was never created, and once on the last day of my trial (in that same morning it still showed "1 day left")
On April 17, 2020 I saw an ad for a 4 week trial with Shaw Academy. I decided to sign up, started the process, entered my PayPal account but did not complete the process and therefore my account was never created and I didn't have access to it -
I was unable to login / reset password, nor did I receive any welcome email or indication that an account has been created.
I assumed, that since an account wasn't created, they also wouldn't charge me for it.
Two days later, on April 19, 2020 I saw the same ad and decided again to sign up. This time I entered my credit card details, and made sure to complete the account creation process.
This time the system actually created an account for me, I was able to login and I received a welcome email!
To my great surprise, even though the first account did not seem to exist and I had absolutely no access to it, they still went ahead and charged my PayPal account on May 15, 2020.
Needless to say, I received no warning or notice that this was going to happen, I assume because this account was never actually created.
Then, on the morning of May 17, I entered my account (meaning the one I was able to access) and saw that I still had one more day for the trial.
I even clicked to cancel it, and the system asked me if I wanted to get a reminder about the upcoming charge - which I asked for (but never actually received).
I decided to wait until the evening (I am in Israel, hence IL time, which is earlier than UTC) and logged into my account at 11PM to cancel the subscription.
Again, to my big surprise, I see that they have already charged me! This time on my credit card.
So to summarize, I was charged $140 - once for an account that was never created, and once for an account that still had a few hours on a free trial.
I have contacted the company and they refuse to issue a refund, though they do not offer any explanation to why I was charged.
Unfortunately, only now that they are refusing to refund the charges, I checked the reviews and see the amount of complaints exactly about this issue.
I am attaching proof of both charged - the CC charge appears in Hebrew but you can still see the business name, the amount and the date.
Thank you
Desired Outcome
I am seeking for a complete refund, $69.99 on my credit card, and $69.99 on my PayPal account.

I was charged a month after I cancelled my membership the same day I signed up.
I signed up for membership on X-XX-XX I immediatly cancelled my membership due to the time restrictions. I received an email confirming my cancelled membership. I received a charge on 5-22-20. I contacted them and provided my cancellation email. They stated that I was not able to get a refund because I did not cancel in the 4 week free trial period. I have showed that email of cancellation yet they still refuse to refund my funds. They would only provide me with a free class subscription of something I cancelled because I didn't have time for it. I cancelled in the time frame, the lady on the phone said no money should be charged. I have also opened up a dispute with paypal.
Desired Outcome
To warn others of poor business practice and also push them to refund the money that is owed to me.

I was charged 2 times for a subscription for an online course after I which I requested to be cancelled within the company's 30 day free trial period.
On March 12,2020 I subscribed to a 30 day free trial subscription to Shaw Academy for online courses. I used a credit card ending. I received an email from ***@reminder.shawacademy.com on March 12 at 9.29pm requesting me to confirm my registration and verify my card details. The emails said (1) I don't pay anything at that time (2) I would not be cancelled if I cancelled before 30days (3) I would get a reminder 3 days before my credit card was charged. After confirming, I realized this is not the service I wanted so I requested for a cancellation via email on March 12 at 9:51pm to ***@shawacademy.com and copied ***@shawacademy.com. On March 13 at 9.24pm I received an email from Justine M., Student Guidance Manager from ***@reminder.shawacademy.com indicating I missed a class and requesting me to reschedule. I responded at 10:04pm to Justine that I requested to cancel the subscription and to delete my account. I received a ticket ID number #*** for my query. After I continued to receive emails from the company, I wrote another email on March 16 under the ticket number provided indicating that I wanted my subscription cancelled, my account deleted and to stop receiving emails. After March 17, I stopped receiving any messages from the company after they confirmed receipt of my request. I never took any of the courses after I requested a cancellation. On May 18 I found out that my credit card had been charged 2 times - on 4/10/2020 a $59.99 charge and on 5/8/2020 a $59.99 charge. I wrote an email to ***@shawacademy.com and followed up with a phone call to (XXX)XXX-XXXX to complain and request a refund. On March 22,2020 I received an email from Vadik refusing to issue my refund claiming that I did not cancel during my trial period. I have provided copies of my correspondence with Shaw Academy showing I requested several times in writing to cancel the subscription before the end of the trial period which would have been April 11, 2020.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of $119.98 which was charged to my credit card.

Free Online course if cancelled prior to a date. Cancelled and still being charged.
On 12/23/19 I have an email confirmation from Shaw Academy of my cancellation of a free 4 week online photography course. I have continued to be charged monthly. A charge was taken out in January, February, March, April, and May! $59.99 a month! I didn't check my statement until May because I was under the assumption the course was cancelled per the email confirmation from Shaw Academy stating that no charges will be taken out. I want the company to refund me this money they have stolen from me.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund for the amounts they removed from my account on the 24th of each month. January - May

Shaw Academy refunded all of the money that they fraudulently removed from my account. Thank you for your assistance regarding this matter.
Card charged after confirmed cancellation. Refund does not value what I was charged.
I signed up for the 4 week free trial on the 15th April 2020. According to the terms, if the membership was cancelled before the 28 day trial had finished no charges would be made. I attempted to cancel the day before on the 12th May, and was directed to call a UK number.
I called the number which after several steps to confirm cancellation stated that my membership had been cancelled. I have this phonecall recorded. To confirm this, I also sent an email to Shaw stating I had cancelled via the phone number Id been given from their website.
I received an email stating that my concern would be seen to within 48hrs and that this time delay would not affect the outcome. I then saw that my credit card had been charged for the month. I emailed Shaw regarding this charge, and the response I received stated that I hadn't cancelled the membership and therefore no refund could be given.
After several back and forth emails, in which I continued to state that I had cancelled before the end of the trial, and that I had documents to prove it I finally got an email stating that a refund would be issued, however it does not equal what I was charged.
Desired Outcome
I have received a refund but due to the exchange rate I have received less than what was charged. As I should NEVER have been charged to begin with I would like the exact amount returned to me. I do not feel that I should be put out of pocket due to the companies inability to provide proper service, even if it is mere dollars. It is the principal of the matter. I was charged (CAD) $88.62, and only received $82.77 back.

Shaw academy tricked me out of money, now they will not refund it, it overdrafted my account.
May XX XXXX what I refer to as a "trick link" was accidentally clicked when I fumbled my cell phone. There was no confirmation page, no pop-up showing what you were buying. It just suddenly went from the link saying"buy" to "purchased". It immediately took $39.95 out of my account. Finally, may XX XXXX someone named "gomes" from Shaw Academy tells me in an email I cannot have a refund, but I can have a bunch of *** they are trying to push on me. Cant find ANY other contact info for the scam company. Accidentally clicking a link while your phone is falli g to the floor isnt bound by contract. This is a free trial anyway, why would I buy anything when I used sweatcoins to use the free trial. I just want my hard to come by money BACK! Thank you

I want this business to return my refund, pay for the overdraft fee they're trick link caused, remove the tricky link from their website and app so that no one else has to go through this it was ridiculous and uncalled for

Shaw Academy promised me was promised: 12-months access worth $699 totally free of charge plus one complete course toolkit and e-certificates worth $1
I had prior fought a $59.95 retraction from my PayPal account through Shaw. I canceled "day of" and they would not honor my refund based on their agreements. I fought this through PayPal and many emails exchanges. They refused to send back the $59.95 but instead in April 14 they're last resolution to me was: "I have tried to come up with something further and the very best I can possibly do is to increase that to 12-months access worth $699 totally free of charge plus one complete course toolkit and e-certificates worth $199." I did not resume or reactivate my account with them. I reached out on May 22 and asked the question and stated: "I attempted to "restart" my membership based on the email details below, it says there will be a charge. I am not paying for another membership.I was promised:
12-months access worth $699 totally free of charge plus one complete course toolkit and e-certificates worth $199."
I received a response back on the same thread (this response was deleted by another agent on the thread as well). In short the person stated that I just had to go back in and resume and that the free services offered were active in my account. I went in to purchase a tool kit on social media marketing. I did NOT reactivate my account or anything. How they were still able to charge me on a deactivated account is questionable as well. I was then charged. I immediately reached out again. And they stated they cannot refund me.
Desired Outcome
At this level I want the entire $59.95 and $39.95 refunded. Why? Their business practices is shady and I do not trust them any further.

Impossible to cancel. Given an inactive number to cancel and never answered my email to "support" to cancel.
Liked the initial class but didn't work with my schedule so attempted to cancel free trial. Had to look up online how to cancel. Went to cancel and had to click through multiple chances to turn back and change my mind (like 4) finally get to the end but instead of canceling I was given an inactive phone number to call with a cr. Took a screen shot and called the number. Wasn't active. Go back online and find their support email and contacted that way. That was may 1st, 2 weeks before charge date. Never answered. Charged may 21 for 69.99. Go back online to attempt to recancel again given a new phone number that seems to be working but completely different from the first and no one answered, only an automatwd message. Very suspicious and believe to be a scam now. I still have the screenshots of the my attempted cancels and the email if needed.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my debit card after I cancelled within their trial period and now refuses to process a refund.
I signed up for Shaw Academy's four-week free trial subscription on 25th of March 2020. After the first week of trial lesson, I realised it wasn't the right fit for me. Using the automated phone service as instructed on their platform, I cancelled my subscription within the trial period but never received a text or email to confirm the cancellation.
However, on the 19th of May I received notification that my account has been billed $69.99 by Shaw Academy. I logged on to my account and had to make sure I cancelled my card and membership. I sent an email to their billing department to request for a refund since I already unsubscribed before hand during the first month of my subscription. I tried to dispute their claim that I cancelled past the trial period and they gave me assurance that my membership has been cancelled - after they have already taken my money.
Since the cancellation happened over the phone, I have no paper trail to prove the date. I requested Shaw Academy to provide the date on their system or evidence to show when I cancelled my membership and so far they haven't address this matter. Instead, they offered me 6 months access to their online courses totally free of charge worth $399. I refused and requested again for the record when I called to cancel. This time, they upped their offer of 12-months access worth $699 totally free of charge plus one complete course toolkit and e-certificates worth $199. I replied that I find no value in their online course and being a member at Shaw Academy, and that I reiterate the cancellation of my membership.
Desired Outcome
I'm seeking for a record or receipt of my membership cancellation. And if proven that it was done within the free trial period, I'm seeking a refund of $69.99.

Shaw Academy proceeded to illegally withdraw money from my business account given the fact that I cancelled my membership within the trial period.
On 19 April 2020 I signed up for online Social Media Management courses with Shaw Academy. I was asked to provide my credit card details in order to start a free trial of 4 (four) weeks and I was reassured that I can cancel anytime within the trial period and I will not be charged any fees.
I submitted my card details (available on request)
I did cancel a few days later.
On 19 May 2020 Shaw Academy withdrew £49.99 (via the VISA details I had provided) from my business account with Santander Bank / Account number: XXXXXXXX / Sort code: XX-XX-XX / Holder: *** the company of which I am the Director.
This is an illegal and unauthorised transaction.
I have now found out through social media platforms as well as the history of complaints on Revdex.com that Shaw Academy is familiar with occurring fraudulent charges to unsuspected customers who sign up for the trial.
I send an email to complain at ***@shawacademy.com (from ***@gmail.com) and I received an email back that is a "copy-caste" like message to the responses on Revdex.com.
My reply to that email is yet to be answered.
I contacted Santander Bank today to cancel my VISA card for obvious reasons which has caused me significant inconvenience.
Kind regards
Desired Outcome
I demand a full refund and a compensation of £500 due to the inconvenience caused by the cancellation of my debit card.

Isigned up for a free trial, cancelled, yet still got billed.
I signed up for a free trial with Shaw Academy on April 19, 2020 and I cancelled on April 20,2020 due to me googling Shaw Academy and finding that it is not accredited and then many of people have had issues. I never received a confirmation e-mail that I cancelled. I tried to call the number on April 20th as well and there was no answer, said the office was closed. I kept getting emails stating I was late to class- I never took ONE class. Well yesterday I got billed $69.99 for a premium monthly membership.Which is strange in itself because I signed up for the lowest plan, I believe it was $50/month. I sent an email right away, I went into Paypal and cancelled the recurring charge, as I didn't know that was available(new to using paypal) I've reached out to them via e-mail and once again I do not get a response. I tried to call the number today and once again it says the office is closed and to reach out via e-mail, BUT THEY DON'T ANSWER. I would like my money refunded at once and to be ensured I will not be charged again. Please handle this right away as money is ridiculously tight do to COVID. I'm a single mother, not working and I need that $69.99 for more important things like food and diapers. Thank You!
Desired Outcome
I wish to be refunded the full amount, I don't want anything else. I just want my money back.

I signed up for the 4-week free trial course for the Photography lesson. I clicked on a button on one of their website pages while trying to navigate the website for the course I had signed up for. Now, it shows me that I have bought a $39.95 worth of "Module Toolkit." I really do not need this toolkit and I would like a refund. The website is full of trappings like this, where the payment information stored with the company is used to immediately bill the customer for extraneous purchases.

Shaw Academy

Thank you
I am seeking for a complete refund, $69.99 on my credit card, and $69.99 on my PayPal account.

At this level I want the entire $59.95 and $39.95 refunded. Why? Their business practices is shady and I do not trust them any further.

I have send a complaint and a request of refund to the company but I've been ignored so far. I want this money back, they have no right to trick people in this way!
I want my money to be refunded. I'm not interested in any of the services of the company.

Impossible to cancel. Given an inactive number to cancel and never answered my email to "support" to cancel.
Liked the initial class but didn't work with my schedule so attempted to cancel free trial. Had to look up online how to cancel. Went to cancel and had to click through multiple chances to turn back and change my mind (like 4) finally get to the end but instead of canceling I was given an inactive phone number to call with a c

I'm seeking for a record or receipt of my membership cancellation. And if proven that it was done within the free trial period, I'm seeking a refund of $69.99.
Dear student,
We're sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience with Shaw Academy.
As per our records, your account was Created on 25-Mar-2020 12:57. The subscription charges were debited on 22-Apr-2020 12:57 at the end of the 4 week trial. Your subscription was Cancelled on 20-May-2020 12:57.
If any charge had occurred, that you feel should not have, it will be refunded. Please contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for any assistance including refund-related assistance.

Thank You!
I wish to be refunded the full amount, I don't want anything else. I just want my money back.
Dear Student,

I clicked on a button by mistake and it shows that I have now bought a Toolkit for a Photography Module for $39.95. It did not ask me for confirm.
I would simply like a refund for the $39.95 that I did not choose to spend on the toolkit.
