This is a scam. They are taking my money even after the subscription was cancelled.
I signed up for the free 4-week course (which would consist of 8 lessons; 2 per week), with the first lesson being on 04/08/2020. The last free lesson should have been 04/30/2020, however, I was charged for the subscription on 04/29/2020. I asked for a refund and was told that they could not provide a refund since I signed up for the subscription and provided my debit card. Since they charged me for a service before I even made the decision to continue, I cancelled it right away. On 05/18/2020 I was charged for the cancelled subscription once again. This company is nothing but a scam! They have a one-click purchase rule where if you click anything by mistake they will take your money without even considering giving you a refund when you ask for it. They send tons of emails and notifications trying to sell you their toolkit, additional subscriptions and "diploma" but you don't even get one notification advising you they will be taking a payment. They are stealing people's money for a sham of a diploma. They are refusing to give me back the money they stole from me ($69.98 as of today) but have offered me 12-month subscription for "free," that is supposedly worth $699 and "one complete course toolkit and e-certificates worth $199." I refused this offer as I no longer want to be associated with such a shady company. Their "offer" just led me to the conclusion that their "diplomas" are not really worth anything. How are they willing to give away such "valuable" package just to keep $34.99? (I submitted a ticket requesting a refund after they took my first payment. I'll be requesting another refund today, but fear my request will be in vain once again.) DO NOT PROVIDE THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR DEBIT CARD INFORMATION! THEY WILL JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY!

Desired Outcome

I would love a refund of the $69.98 they have stolen from me and my debit card number/profile/account to be completely removed from their site. I do not want them to steal any more money from me or to have any of my information at all!

I would like to formally cancel this complaint. The company has responded and refunded my funds.

No refund issued and no live representatives to dispute.
Shaw academy does not give a live representative for you to speak with regarding any billing issues. I was given an extended free trial but never used it. I was supposed to receive a reminder from Shaw academy before being charged to either continue with the class or to cancel. I never received that reminder and when I attempted to cancel online it would not give me the option to do so as they initiallu stated. I was through to believe my trial ended on 5/19/20. They already charged me on 5/18/2020 and gave me no option to speak with a live rep to discuss this error. I e-mailed them only to receive what seems like an automated response stating no refund will be issued see reason below

I would like to offer you credit to the value of $199 which can be used for your Certificate of Completion and also 3 remaining module toolkits and 1 hard copy diploma. This is far in excess of what you paid and you have had access until now and will continue to do so for life. I never activated this so called "tool kit" and I haven't logged on since before April to even view a class. This place is a sham and a waste of time. Even after finally being able to cancel through their automated system the e-mail confirming the cancellation was never sent. So I' am pretty sure from the looks of other complaints they will more than likely try to charge my account again. And again there are no live representatives to speak with.

I just want my refund and a confirmation e-mail that my account was already cancelled.

Again they failed to recognize the fact that I was made to belive the free trial ended on the 19th. In addition no reminder email was sent to inform me that the free trial was ending. I already made it clear that I did not use their resources yet they continue to offer "packages" rather than give back the requested refund. See email attachment.

I have enrolled for a photography course with shaw academy with 1 month free of charge with initial bank details supplied to them. After two weeks of the course I have decided that I don't want to follow anymore the course and I have decided to stop my subscription. One day before the end free period, I have called them to cancel my subscription, on the 11th of May. After 6 times of choosing option 2 for delete subscription, the called stopped. I thought the subscription was cancel as requested but next nay I have been charged £49.99 for different services that now they offer to cover this money.
Las email I have receive it says this: "Thank you for reaching out again.

You can access the membership till 18 May 2021 in later days.

I can understand your frustration and I am trying to do my best to resolve to your satisfaction.

We genuinely do our very best to make students aware when signing up that this is a subscription service. We clearly say it on all registration pages, we make sure students tick a box confirming they understand this, we ask students to insert a payment method which most realise means that we as a commercial entity expect to be paid at some point for the services we offer and we also make clear in the Members Area all relevant dates.

We cannot issue a refund as the service as has been made available as per the terms and conditions.

I have put forward solutions which greatly outweigh the cost of the refund requests. I would encourage you to take advantage of these solutions for your own benefit.

I am trying my level best to assist you and to try and help solve the issues that you have raised today outside of our normal policies as stated in our terms and conditions in section 4 & 5 as I shared with you in my previous email.

I would encourage you to log into your account and make the most of the free upgrade you have just received.

Definitly I haven;t asked for this services and what they offer,

To come back to my story, as I was short with money, I didn't have sufficient money into my account and the payment didn't go through from my bank.
The direct debit was set up through paypal. After submitting many request to cancel this payment, all I was offered was another options to cover the money.

The invoice id is XXXXXXXX, transaction ***XXXXXXXXXXXXin paypal

Paypal currently said that they can't help as I have canceled my direct debit and they can't help with the refund but the pre-approved payment is there and my paypal balance is on minus. I need them to refund or cancel this payment.

Please help me with this complaint.

Desired Outcome

To either refund the money or to cancel the pre-approved payment. Please help. I don't have money for this course.

I canceled before the free trial ended and I was billed. I tried canceling online but their system prompted me to call and cancel, and I did so.
I tried canceling online, but I was prompted to call and cancel over the phone. I spent a few minutes listening to some offers and canceled. I remember this because I was annoyed about this process. I wasn't using it and I wouldn't be able to afford it, so I called before the free trial was over. I didn't want to dig a hole for myself. That's why I made the decision to cancel. I never ever explored the free trial. I made the decision to cancel and went through the whole entire process to avoid another bill.

I started the (4 weeks) free trial on April 14th 2020 and canceled over the phone on April 27th 2020.

They billed me $69.99 anyway. This is the Invoice ID XXXXXXXX
I tried resolving this with them but they have me running in circle.

Desired Outcome

I just want a refund. I did my part and canceled before the free trial ended so I wouldn't be billed. And I am extremely disappointed that I was billed anyways.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card, although I did never purchase of their service and class.
I which has taken the free course In Photography class during on 10th Jan 2020 ( First Photography class 1 ). However after the first weeks of attempting to do the courses during my free trail, I was unfortunately unable to complete any of the classes due to my own time constraints. And I decide to not continue attend the course, and cancel my subscription.

(You can cancel your subscription by logging into Shaw Academy account.
If you have not added any payment details during the registration, then, you don't need to worry about canceling the membership as it will expire automatically after 30 days.
To cancel, login to your Members Area on a web browser using a Computer and click on "My Profile", then click on "Membership & Payments" ->"Cancel Membership & Benefits"-> Follow the online instructions.)

I follow the online instructions and cancel my subscription and think everything is done.

Fast forward to Mid - January 2020, when I got a message for an offer to renew my subscription with them. Of course I was not interested, but the message clearly stated to reply STOP if I wanted to opt out. I did reply and thought that was that. Later I received an email on 18th Jan say well done for getting back on track! At the meantime I'm also confused, cause I have cancel the subscription previously.

And later by that I did notice that Shaw Academy is charging me (RM74.99) as in Malaysia Ringgit, even I didn't s continue the photography course. I really felt disappointed.
My credit card statement which shows me that on 19th Feb 2020, 19th March 2020 & 19th April 2020 is being charge by SHAW ACADEMY. And I'm certain on upcoming 19th May 2020 will also be charge from my credit card. Which is total (RM 299.96) for these 4 MONTH from my credit card being taken from SHAW ACADEMY.

I need a refund which I didn't join the class or purchase their services. That I have mentioned above.

I have try to reach Shaw Academy support team or their web page for further help to solve my problem but couldn't get any help support. And the complain email being send to their "***@shawacademy.com" no respond is given.

I want to resolve the problem with SHAW ACADEMY to stop the processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card, without my authorize. And I have canceled my subscription before the trail free course end in photography class (during January 2020). And I want my refund back which I did not attend any of your online education or purchase any of your services in Shaw Academy. As we the consumer need to seek for help service support is needed, but hardly reach to Shaw Academy. It's hardly to make us ease in order to solve the matter. Your attention in this matter is higher appreciated.

I submitted a request to cancel my subscription and was issued false references to complete the process on time.
Shaw Academy representatives are thieves and dishonest people in the cancellation department. On May 2nd, 2020 I submitted a subscription cancellation request prior to the ending of my free trial on May 4th, 2020. The cancellation department provided me with a reference number XXXXX and a country number *** to call back in case I did not receive a call from them, which I never did receive on May 3rd, 2020. The company is still refusing to honor my subscription refund that caused my bank account to overdraft $104.99 in this pandemic crisis. In addition, I made sure to pay for all my tool kits at $39.95 per kit as necessary on April 15th, 2020 and on April 16th, 2020. Upon completion of my course, I paid for my E-certificate at $19.64 on May 4th, 2020 via PayPal plus an additional international transaction fee of $0.59 on May 5th, 2020 which I have yet to receive as promised via email. I was excited at first to complete the one complimentary course module as was advertised and after signing up, I realize it was a complete false advertisement, and I still manage to fulfill my training as this was my first time into the trading industry. As a result to honoring my refund request, they are using the terms and conditions policy as a counteract and planning to give me free courses when I still would have to purchase tool kits and E-certificates. They make it inconvenient for subscribers to cancel on time by making them wait on a call from their representatives and if no one calls, then you will have to call in and confirm the cancellation request with the reference number that is untraceable. This does not resolve my issue with the subscription charge of $69.99 that I need to be honored and refunded.

To get my refund in the amount of $69.99 and received my E-Certificate e-mailed to me as promised.

Free courses aren't free, and they deduct money without prior notifications even after cancelation of thier services
Signed my wife up to do a free course, should have known something was fishy when they asked for my credit card details to sign up, before the end of the course (during the free period still) she decided to cancel the subscription. They make it near impossible to do so, having to go through a painfull 15mins with one of the telephonic robots they keeps trying to sell you something else other than letting you cancel. We eventually cancelled through an email and got confirmation back from them acknowledging the cancelation. 3 days later they debited my account R399 , when checking back with them they deny that we cancelled. we have email proof with dates and they still deny it ... All I want is my money back, and a guarantee from them that they wont carry on debiting my account.

A full refund of all monies that have been debited from my account.

Because we have gone through that process of contacting them via their email addresses before and they still made excuse after excuse and still tried to offer us larger and larger subscriptions each time "if we just made one more payment", we never agreed to the first payment... as I said it was my wifes "course" so the email address would have been hers *** at ***@gmail.com

shaw photography took over £100 without my consent
I signed up to shaw photography for a free course. Once this finished I attempted to cancel my account however was informed I needed to phone to cancel. I tried to phone and the number did not work. I tried to e mail and there was no response. Shaw are taking £50 a month and I have no way of stopping them.

Increased membership fee without notice, charged me after cancelling my membership, will not refund and lied about a purchase I never made.
I joined shaw academy to access learning materials for professional development. The original monthly fee for membership went up from £35 to £49.99 without any notice. When I queried this apparently the fee was subject to change without having to notify members. I paused my membership to stop any further payements for a month and eventually decided I wanted to cancel. I contacted their support team asking to cancel my membership and received an email informing me that my membership had been cancelled but I will be given access to learning material for 2 months. I was shocked to see another payment of £49.99 was taken from my account this month (May 2020). I contacted the support team immediately, forwarding the email that stated my membership was cancelled, only to be told I made a purchase which I did not make for a toolkit and that I will not be refunded. I have contacted my bank and will attempt to retrieve the money that way but I am sickened and shocked to be robbed in this way.

I want a refund. I can't even call it a refund because my money was taken without my consent.

By now, Shaw Academy should have provided with me with that priority email address or taken the matter seriously enough to know a refund is the only option!

Shaw Academy refused to be truthful about the circumstances and I have been lied to about activity on my account twice in order to avoid refunding the money they illegally took from my account. Not only was I lied to about my activity and refused a refund, I was then offered credit.

This is a blatant scam and an insult to my intelligence. I had provided Shaw Academy the email that was sent to me on the 9th of April 2020 to confirm my membership was cancelled so it should not have to go this far.

After a quick google search it has come to my attention that I am one of many customers Shaw Academy have put through a similar ordeal.

It is impossible to remove payment details from their website or to manually cancel membership without calling a telephone number. The telephone number provided should be unique to each student however, when I called the number an automated messaged identified a different student. I made several attempts to call this telephone number and eventually was asked to enter my student i.d. number, conveniently for Shaw Academy, the student identification number was not recognised thus making it impossible for me to complete the cancellation of my membership.

With all of this being said, I have no reason to believe this was not a mistake but a deliberate attempt to protect their revenue and illegaly charge individuals for products they did not order. I have exhausted all attempts to contact Shaw Academy directly only to be lied to and refused a refund.

I have notified my bank and informed them of the unauthorised payment and I awaiting the outcome of this. I ask that the Revdex.com consider the possibility of investigating Shaw Academy further or flagging them to necessary regulatory industry bodies. I am currently looking into this.

Thank you to the Revdex.com for handlingv this matter for me. I would like confirmation that my details have been removed from their system and no further attempt to charge my account will be made.

I subscribed for Shaw Online Academy however I was unable to attend classes even if I was on time so I want to cancel my membership
I want to cancel my membership, I tried cancelling online but it say I need to call but everytime I call no one seems to be taking my call. I want this membership to be cancelled with immediate effect and I do not want any debits.

Did not email me before trial period ended. Canceling was messy and complicated.
I was told before signing up that I would be emailed days before the free trial period ended and it never happened. Then I see that they charged me twice. In trying to cancel it is an automated voicemail that you have to hit the key multiple times to get it to cancel. It was horrible and frustrating. I will now have to dispute these charges. Not to mention they said that my diploma is ready and I never took the course! Its a scam for sure

Deliberately misleading advertisement about the eCertificate of the course I'm taking on their platform
I'm in 30-day free trial offered by Shaw Academy. The free trial expires on May 21st 2020. I'm studying the course "Project Management" for free as is offered in the trial. During the first few lessons, I saw on their website an offer to get the eCertificate for my course cost £39.95. I didn't purchase because it's too expensive for me. Until May 14th, I saw they advertise that eCertificate for no cost. I was thinking it's a promotion. So I clicked purchase. But then it charges me £39.95. This is nonsense. I emailed them to complain about it and to get my money back. They replied that they can not refund and offer me some additional benefits that I don't want. I emailed them once again to ask them to check their misleading advertisement which causes me to click purchase. And again, they didn't address my concern about their misleading advertisement and continue to offer me more benefits which I completely don't want after witnessing their misconduct. I just want to get my money back.

No use of company services.
Initially, I was not aware of future potential charges.
I did not allow this TWO TIME charge of 69.99.

I have not obtained any of this company's services and I was unaware of any future potential charges or transactions. Initially, my intrigue propelled me to inquire more details. Within the first 2 days (out of 30) of their free trial, I halted my visits to their site. My activity during the duration of the trial has been nonexistent.

A 30 day trial period should be just that. There should be no surprise transactions before the ending of said trial. My initial interest was on the 23rd of April. Both on the 17th and 18th of May, my paypal account had been chraged 69.99 twice.

I have even filed another dispute for the second transaction altogether, as I have not been present in any class. A SECOND charge is ludicrous! After reading up on pricing, after seeing said charges, I still have no idea why 69.99 was charged in the first place as I saw nothing on the site that even matched that price point, let alone a double charge.

It is not okay for these company to charge people for something they don't use, let alone double charge.
I will need that money back in my account.

A "free" 30 day trial. Be that as it may, my account was charged TWICE! Furthermore, these charges were over a WEEK before this "free 30 day trial" elapsed.

I feel SCAMMED OUT OF $140 and its not right for them to respond in the way they did. I need the two charges of 69.99 they STOLE and my subscription to be cancelled and erased. '

I have over a dozen emails from them about classes and winning free courses; none of them mention 69.99 being chaged. AND NONNE OF THE EMAILS ARE A RECEIPT.

A word to the wise, ONCE YOU SUBMIT Your EMAIL ADDRESS THEN YOUR BILLING INFO; it just begins a sneaky operative. They just extract money from your account prematurely, worst is them knowing full well that you are inactive and don't even utilize their services.

Reimbursement of funds is imperative.

This company advertised on social media relating to a months FREE trial.

I was charged for the whole month after cancelling within 48 hours.
I signed up to Shaw Academy on the 13th of May 2020, the next day I noticed activity in my paypal account - It was a 'pre approved payment' to Shaw Academy of £39.95, Immediately cancelled pre approved payments with Shaw Academy (I did not know they authorised this) I then went through 5 or 6 screens on the Shaw website to cancel my membership - (Which should of been a free trial) which all offered me a cheaper monthly subscription, eventually it got me to a screen saying I had to phone them to cancel.

I called, no answer - dodgy. Zante P. phoned me back immediately whom cancelled my account although I still receive phone calls, texts and emails from them.

I noticed earlier today (16th May) that the sum of £39.95 was taken from my bank account, I opened a dispute with paypal although this is a common occurrence with many other people - Shaw Academy is beginning to produce a reputation of scamming consumers with misleading advertisement, while making it challenging to cancel these free trial periods and ultimately charging consumers for the month period.

There are LOTS of people whom will share the same experience on reddit, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

I have recently contacted the Federal Trade Commission, I am expecting to contact my local Member of Parliament, Member of Scottish Parliament, and various political members in Ireland - Another area that has a headquarters to this devious organisation. I have contacted the Revdex.com after seeking advice from other victims of this organisation.

The screenshot provided is a screenshot I have been able to source right now from attempting to register another account and clearly displays the terms that they will not bill you in the trial period. I can't submit any other screenshots but I have several others including a paypal statement.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a refund for the amount of £39.95 and an apology.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my debit card, even after I cancelled and was told I would not getting charges to my debit card
On April 12, I signed up for Shaw Academy. But upon reading negative review after negative review, I decided to immediately cancel my membership. On the same day, April 12, I cancelled my membership and was told that I would NOT get any charges to my debit card. Today, May 18, I saw a PayPal charge which is linked to my debit card to Shaw Academy. I NEVER authorized this charge and cannot find any way to contact customer service to dispute this charge.

Desired Outcome

Please refund this charge and any fees that may incur from this charge from *** credit union and Pay Pal.

They know this I have a severe mental disorder bipolar with psychotic episode which I've been hospitalised for. Their terms aren't clear I didn't not have capacity to understand them. Also without notification they have taken payment long after the period has expired. This has left me without food, severely stressed which has set off my hypomania and feeling suicidal. They have a duty of care to disabled people their courses or terms or business policies and practices do not allow for.

Tried a 4 weeks free course and was charged from my card. Cancelled it. Deleted the account and I have not received my refund
I bumped into an advertisement in the internet about 4 weeks free courses. I tried it and as a result, I was charged 78$ from my card. Have not received the refund yet and the Company says that they will not recieve it even if I have not use their course.

- 05/07/2020 - I've registered a new account to my email address ***@gmail.com. I thought that it would be free for the first 4 weeks but it turned out that:
- 05/07/2020 - I was charged 39$ for "Toolkit for Professional Diploma in Photography Module 1" ("Invoice # XXXXXXX Invoice Date May 07, 2020 Invoice Amount $39.95 (USD) )
- 05/09/202 - I accidentally clicked to a some button and was immediately (without any confirmation) charged another 39$ for "E Certificate for Professional Diploma in Photography Module 1." ("Invoice # XXXXXXX Invoice Date May 09, 2020 Invoice Amount $39.95 (USD) )
- 05/09/2020 - started to write to their support. The ticket is #XXXXXXX
- 05/12/2020 - cancelled and deleted account because have not resolved the issue with refund via support.

I received all my money back.

Billed me too soon and refuse to refund the money.
The company advertises on their site as having a 30 day free trial of their services. Half way into the program I decided it was not for me and planned to cancel before being charged. However they billed me on day 28 of my free trial. There is no way for me to reach customer service over the phone. So after great difficulty I managed to find an email address to contact. I explained that I wanted a refund because at this point I was only on day 29 of my free trial and was not interested in continuing with their service. The company in questions responded saying that I signed up for a "30 day free trial" however they would not refund me despite the fact that I had not used their paid services. When I brought to their attention that they specifically advertised and had just told me in email that it was a 30 day trial and they billed me on day 28, they responded by sending me the identical email they had previously, however they changed "30 days" to "4 week". It's very dishonest and they have advertises and promises one thing, and then done another. I have screen shots and proof of all of these interactions. I've noticed a large surge in others having the same issue as me as well. So I am not an isolated case.

I would like the company to honor its word and cancel my membership as well as providing me with a full refund.

I do no accept the response because they refuse to refund me even though they charged me for the next month before my free trial was over. I cancelled on day 29 of their "free 30 day trial" yet they charged me anyway. I would like a full refund because the company went against what was advertised to me, and I have documented evidence of both the fact that they advertised a trial of 30 days and the fact that I cancelled on day 29 of said trial.

You can not contact anyone. No links or anything and even after cancellation of my account they are still charging my card every month.
I've only taken a month of classes that was provided for free. I cancelled before the second month. And they are continuing to charge me.

I wish for them to stop trying to steal money from me. And if possible I'd like for this "business" to be shut down.
