Signed up for a free trial, $90 later still can't get a refund or cancel my account. Zero customer service.
This is a complete scam. I, being a grown woman, who has signed up and cancelled multiple free trials, am aware of how the process works. I followed all of the procedures in place to do so, received a confirmation of cancellation only to be charged TWO additional months. They have been extremely unprofessional and non-communicative. Do. Not. Sign. Up. For. The. Free. Trial. It's not worth being stolen from and spoken to like you are a mn. If this is how they conduct business, the band-aid they offered for stealing from me, I am not interested in. I have repeatedly requested a refund and have submitted all of the documentation they have requested. Still no refund. They just stopped talking to me.
Desired Outcome
Money refunded.

Our support team has informed that your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
I was trying to delete my account and I clicked on a toolkit and it purchased without even warning me or asking me to confirm the purchase.
They charged me for a toolkit that I am not even going to use for 39.95. It says it is available to download but I have not even touched it or downloaded the content. They refuse to give me my refund because they say they already gave me the information. I don't think it's fair that they don't give any kind of warning and literally anything you click by accident costs you money. And it's even more infuriating that they refuse to give you your money back.
They also said that they would give me a credit of $199 and that they added it to my account, which includes 3 toolkits, certificate of completion, and hard copy certificate. When I went to check, nothing bad changed on my account although they said they went ahead and activated it.
They're just trying to do everything possible to keep my money and not give it back when they should. It's so upsetting that they purposely set up their website to easily charge you, even when your in setting of the account. Please give me my refund.
Desired Outcome
To get my full refund and not credit or extra kits/certificates. My FULL refund.

I signed up for a free 4 week trial and was billed despite me cancelling my subscription AND never taking a class with this shady business.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy on April 17th. After reading more about the company I decided that this might be a scam. I never registered for a class and on April 22, 2020 I cancelled my subscription. It took several windows just cancel because they kept asking questions. I finally got to the end and cancelled my membership. I never revisited the website because I had no use of their services. On May 15, 2020 I saw a charge on my bank account for $69.99 from Shaw Academy and emailed them immediately (their is no number listed) my ticket number is #XXXXXXX. I went on twitter only to discover I was one of many people with the same complaint. I put a stop payment with my bank but this takes 3 days to process so my account was charged. Marcas responded on March 18th, claiming I had not canceled and I signed terms and conditions. He then offered me some free courses. I signed back into my Shaw academy account only for it to say I was an active member. They did not email a confirmation and even when I went my computer history, all of the pages are titled "dashboard" so I cannot prove anything. Marcas refused to refund my money despite me cancelling AND never registering for a course. He offered as much as 12 months free with a kit, but it is the principal. This company had taken a lot of people's money for services not rendered and subscriptions that were already cancelled! I will never recommend this business to anyone.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund.

Signed up for free course through 3rd party. Charged for annual subscription without any notice or reminder. "tricked" into subscription. no refund.
Signed up for free course through mobile phone provider. Unaware that this would be an auto-renewing, no reminder, annual subscription a month later. I'm sure this was in the "small print" somewhere; despite bombarding me with texts, emails and mobile notifications trying to sell me upgrades to my free course at no point did they remind me or confirm I might wish to retain an actual subscription. Charged 50GBP for something I do not want - confirmed and contacted them immediately; refund refused by support team. No response to request for details of formal complaints procedure. Completely unethical business practice. Unwilling customer, robbed of £50.
Desired Outcome
Simple - a refund for the service i did not want in the first place and have not used.

I total sham.
Last week I had a charge of 59.99 go threw twice from Shaw Academy. I had not been happy with the classes and they way they were laid out so didn't take anymore after the first class. I have a 7 month old daughter who I tend to full time. The $120 dollars taken out I needed for diapers, baby food and wipes for my daughter, now I have to borrow money because I forgot to cancel my membership due to all of the stress going on. Covid-19 has taken a toll on me mentally and physically not allowed me to work my full time job. This company is hard to work with and even if you don't like the way they work as long as they get money they do not care. Not to mention cancelling your membership takes a 20 minute call where they try to convince you that you need to keep your membership. Thank you Shaw Academy for making me struggle worse with covid-19.
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund onto my card please so I can get my daughter the things she needs.

Hi ***,
Could you please let us the know reason why you reopened the ticket.
I took out a free trial 4 weeks ago. I cancelled my membership 10 days ago well before my free trial however they have taken £49.99 from my bank toda
I took out a free trial with Shaw Academy 4 weeks ago. I cancelled my membership in good time by calling the telephone number. Sat on the phone clicking cancel a million times as they definitely do not make it easy to cancel membership and try every trick in the box to make you stay. However, I was sure I went through the whole process and cancelled and they said my subscription is now cancelled. I checked my account and it said inactive. Today I noticed they have taken £49 from my account!!!!!!! So angry about this. I checked my account but it now says ACTIVE!! How I don't know as I am 100% sure I cancelled and received email to say.
What a con of a company who are taking advantage of vulnerable people at this awful time.
I am waiting for a refund ASAP

Unauthorized charges made by Shaw Academy to my personal credit card.
Signed up for a free trial as something to help pass *** time while quarantined during the pandemic, enjoyed the free trial but planned on cancelling. Didn't cancel in time and was charged $69.99, which I accepted because I genuinely forgot to cancelacancel I was aware that their policy is to charge that fee if there is no cancellation. I set a reminder in my phone to cancel before the additional month I paid for was finished, I received confirmation of my cancellation and later discovered that my credit card was charged $419.88 after the fact. In no way did I authorize this charge, nor was I made aware that a significant charge like this was even possible. I have emailed them explaining that I cancelled my membership, I was told that the two modules (free trial and the one I paid for) were mine for life, and that I would not be charged for anything further. I have emailed them asking for the refund I am owed and so far they have refused, saying that I didn't cancel my free trial so they don't owe me a refund. I am very frustrated and disappointed that something like this has happened, especially at a time like this.
Desired Outcome
I would like to be reimbursed for the fraudulent charge made by Shaw Academy of $419.88 to my credit card.

I have received a refund of the money that was stolen from me by Shaw Academy.
Bait and Switch sales tactic
Cancellation protocol does not allow to secure cancellation at all.
On May 19, 2020, I signed up for a free marketing class and a 3-day free-trial with Shaw Academy through an advertising they placed on the Instagram social media platform. After they had collected my credit card information, they advised me I had to buy the materials course at a cost of approximately $45 dollars. So I immediately tried to process the cancellation of my account on their website, a process that forced me through at least 10 different screens where I was offered other services at lower costs, on the final page, I was advise the only way I could cancel was to call a telephone number they provided with a reference number they provided. Over the next 2 days, May 19 and May 20, I called the number at least 7 times or more, and each time the same automated voice recording would repeatedly state "someone will be with you shortly." After 3 minutes of this statement, each and every time, the voice recording would advise "someone will call you back at your number.: Lo and behold no one ever called me back.
Then I wrote the customer support on their website requesting full cancellation of my account, and trial, and any charges on my credit. Afte a couple of automated form-answer emails, I kept through email. Finally, someone named Gomes wrote me back saying the only way to cancel was to go to the process on their website, which takes me through 10 pages, then sends me to call a phone number that hangs up on me after 3 minutes.
I had to cancel my credit card after seeing so many complaints here that cards are charged arbitrarily and before the free trial expires.
Attached, please find email exchanges with their customer support line.
Desired Outcome
This company should be reported to the state's attorney general's office for practicing bait and switch sales tactics, and for being non-compliant with cancellation requests.

Additionally, I am still being bombarded with notifications advising me that I am late for class, and offers for the purchasing of diplomas.

Refused refund after making a unintentional one click purchase (due to pop up advert). Then refused another refund after trying to access 'credit'.
I was charged £39.95 for the 'Shaw academy toolkit' after I believe I may have clicked on a pop up advert which led to a one-click purchase. This was completely unintentional and I do not wish to use the product. This purchase was made on 20th May 2020 via a Barclays Debit card attached to my account. I realised I had made this purchase upon checking my bank statement on 21st May. At this point I emailed ***@shawacademy.com requesting a refund and for them to remove the toolkit from my account.
The refund was refused. They said that instead they would offer 'credit to the value $199 which can be used for your certificate of completion and also 3 remaining module toolkits and 1 hard copy diploma'. The email went on to read 'I have activated this for you in your account, so you have 3 additional toolkits, one E-certificate and a hard copy for free now'.
I then went on my account to check these out. I saw on the side bar on my account a button named 'get your e-cert' - which I assumed was the certificate I had been credited with for free. I clicked on this button and was charged a further £39.95 Via a one click purchase. No where on the page did it indicate that pressing this would lead to me being charged £39.95. The amount came out of my bank via the same Barclays debit card attached to my account on 22nd May.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund of both the amounts of £39.95 (£79.90). The one click purchases were both completely unintentional and I do not wish to utilise either of them. If the only way to do this is to deactivate my account - please go ahead and do this.
At a very minimum I would like a refund of the second amount of £39.95 - as no where was I lead to believe I would be making a purchase if I clicked the button.

I have attempted to cancel my free trial by calling the number they gave. Each time I call, I'm on hold for an extended period of time to no avail.
I signed up for the course on 5/07/2020 for the 30 day free trial. I stored my credit card information but was not charged. I attempted to cancel on 5/21/2020 but have been unsuccessful. I went through the steps on their online system only for it to say I need to call XXX-XXX-XXXX. Their practice is to have you on hold for such a long time, you hang up. I have called twice and have been on hold for more than 27 minutes. I have emailed, only to receive a response stating they are lowering the fee; however, I have not been assured of my cancellation.

Instantly charged for item advertised with no description of main characteristics or inclusions when clicking on item to view further information.
On 18/05 I was instantly charged for an "online" toolkit when clicking on it to see what it may contain. A business must give you certain information before you buy goods or services. It should be in clear and simple language. In this case that would include the main characteristics of what you are buying BEFORE purchasing it. Having cancelled my free membership I was not expecting to be instantly charged for something without first seeing what it was. I have not downloaded it as I have no use for it as I have no intention of taking the free online course. I cancelled my free trial membership to this service on 17/05. I have contacted the seller on 18,20,21,22/05 and they have flatly refused to refund me on every occasion and are instead offering a credit for services I do not want. They will not provide proof of any of the policies they are relying on when refusing to provide a refund. I strongly feel "Shaw Academy" is a scam and is out to steal and cheat money out of people

Attempted to cancel FREE trial membership via their website, app, phone, email, Pay Pal & Facebook Messenger. I've been wrongly charged & no response.
I do not have dates, but check their Facebook reviews. Everyone is having the same issue. They make it almost impossible to cancel!
I have canceled my membership on the website and the app 5 times and it still shows my status as ACTIVE. When I try to delete my payment info...the website goes blank.
I have also reached out to this company via email, Facebook Messager and multiple phone calls and I still have not spoken to anyone.
This company still charged me $34.99 even when I thought my membership was canceled weeks ago.

I signed up for free 30-day trial membership, but when I attempted to cancel the membership 7 days before the trial period was over, the website said I needed to call a phone number. Unapproved $39.95 USD charge
I enrolled in a free trial course, but when I went to take the final, I was immediately charged $39.95 USD for a "one-click purchase" that was not accurately described. The site very intentionally tricks the user into thinking that upon completion of all lessons, the e-certificate will become available. They do not at all state that it will still cost you $40. After contacting the company, neither a refund nor an apology was offered. I am extremely disappointed. The process to cancel the free trial is also ridiculous, lengthy, and, quite frankly, sketchy. Do not make the same mistake I did by signing up!
Desired Outcome
I am simply requesting a refund of $39.95 USD.

Unfortunately, it did take 3 separate complaints and over 1 month for my refund to be issued, but eventually it was. I would like it to be known that Shaw Academy requested that I remove my negative reviews, which I think is unacceptable. My experience was very very poor, whether I was eventually refunded or not.
I got charged 69.99 for Shaw Academy, even though I cancelled during the free trial.
I signed up for Shaw Academy on April 20th. It claimed there was a week free trial. After 3 days, I cancelled my membership through their phone system. I got the cancellation confirmation on April 23rd via email. I got charged 69.99 a few days ago anyways, despite cancelling during the free trial.
Desired Outcome

Shaw Academy Charged me 69.99 CAD without any of my authorization or confirmation as soon as I signed up for FREE trail.
Hi, this is ***(***) .
On May 18, I signed up for Shaw Academy's FREE trail, after I filled out the information of my credit card, they charged me 69.99 CAD without any of my authorization or confirmation. Also, my account has been set up to Premium Membership Which means they will charge me every month, and I never wanted that. So as result I tried to contact them to get a refund also to cancel all my subscriptions since there's no cancel button on website. On their website (https://www.shawacademy.com/) it says cancel anytime, but I wrote them 2 emails, no answers. I called, the person picked up (Shantelle Higgins) was still trying to sell products, and said they will get back to me in 3 days, but no news, so I called that number again (XXX)XXX-XXXX, the number doesn't even exist anymore. Then I called another number X(XXX)XXX-XXXX, no one ever picked up. Their website has "one click purchase" everywhere, and I got so many emails from them per day for reminding me to go to class, this is harassment. Well I'm not interested in those classes at all, all I want is refund and to cancel all my membership, subscriptions and whatever related. And I'm not the only one, so many people on Reddit shared their experience with Shaw Academy, this "education" company shouldn't even be operating, their website should all be shut down, because as long as they exist, so many more victims will fall into their trap just like I did.
Desired Outcome
Please give me the 69.99 CAD refund, or withdraw the charge on me, and cancel all my membership, subscriptions, plus deleting all my information like banking information, emails, phone numbers.

I won the Free 4 week Course through Vodacom which I completed. I was then reminded by Shaw to upgrade to be able to finish this Diploma.
Good day,
I won the Free 4 week Course through Vodacom which I completed. I was then reminded by Shaw to upgrade to be able to finish this Diploma. The Shaw advertisement said it is R166.58 p/m for 12 months so I thought that is not too bad, I will be able to afford this during Covid 19 lockdown.
I put in my Debit Card details for the monthly debit of R166.58 and it took the whole R1999 from my Bank Account on 26/04/3020 which I cannot afford because I'm unemployed and it is lockdown. The Shaw advertisement is misleading to state R166.58 p/m and then take R1999 once off from my Bank Account. I went in on Shaws Csncellation Webpage to cancel it with immediate effect and it said it was cancelled and I must also phone Shaw just to double check the cancellation and refund, but the phone is on computer which says the offices are locked for lockdown. It took all my food money for the month to follow. It also took R399 extra from my account for an e-certificate which I did not request and did not receive!! Shaw took R2398 from my Bank Account at once and I had no service from them at all!!!! I sent Shaw numerous e-mails and they sent one back to me to acknowledge cancellation and refund of the R2398 deducted from my Account, within 24 Hours which didn't happen.
Now a Vincent @ Shaw sends me an e-mail stating they cannot find the e-mail which said they will refund me and cannot refund me but I had no service from them.
I even submitted this case on HelloPeter but had no solution to my problem.
Please assist me as this is an urgent matter!!!!
Thank you in advance.
Desired Outcome
Full refund as the advertisement is misleading.

I was refunded eventually after a long fight. However I was not refunded in full (R2398) I was refunded for R1999 which is at least the biggest part. They did not refund me for the R399 charged for a e-certificate which I never requested, nor received.
I can't get the refund from them after emails conversations. They end my free trial too soon and charged me.
I redeemed a 3-month free trial offer by Fido(my phone carrier), and it showed on my shaw academy account right after (the free trial days changed from 30 days to 90 days/I don't have a screenshot though, because I never thought this would happen, I am very sure that I saw the status on my account was changed). So, I didn't cancel the subscription after one month end. But I was charged by shaw of CA$69.99. I wrote emails to explain to shaw's staff that the system end my free trial too soon, and they shouldn't charge me just after one month. They keep telling me they can charge me and asking me to pay more on other offer(I can't trust their offers anymore).
To be honest, I didn't start using much of their lessons yet, I don't have time yet, and that's why I choose to sign in after I saw that 3 month free trial offer. But they ignore my offer redeemed and charge me after one month which is very irresponsible, if that's their system's bug, they should fix it and refund me, but they didn't answer this questions to me on emails conversation at all! I want to report this issue, not only want my money back, but also I don't want other customers who sew the offer on Fido xtra(that offer can be redeem till December this year) and start their trial and that charging happen again. I can help the media to repot this no problem. Please don't let this happen anymore!!
Desired Outcome
I hope that Revdex.com could help me get my refund.
And if possible, I hope that Revdex.com could contact Fido (a Canadian phone carrier) to "off shelf" that offer on their app. Because that offer doesn't work at all.

Signed up for a free trial, $90 later still can't get a refund or cancel my account. Zero customer service.
n. If this is how they conduct business, the band-aid they offered for stealing from me, I am not interested in. I have repeatedly requested a refund and have submitted all of the documentation they have requested. Still no refund. They just stopped talking to me.
Do. Not. Sign. Up. For. The. Free. Trial. It's not worth being stolen from and spoken to like you are a m

To get my full refund and not credit or extra kits/certificates. My FULL refund.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I accept because they said they will give me my refund. I still have to see if they actually come through with it.
I signed up for the FREE PMP training course. When I signed in I mistakenly clicked on a button and I was automatically charged for course material.
I signed up for the FREE PMP training course. When I signed in I mistakenly clicked on a button and I was automatically charged for course material.
I immediately contacted the customer service department to inform them of my mistake and ask for a refund and when they responded they told me they could not refund me and I should have been aware of their one click purchase.
I am seeking a refund for this charge.

I would like a refund.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Simple - a refund for the service i did not want in the first place and have not used.
Hi ***,
We have already processed your refund on 22 May 2020. It will take 5 to 7 working days to get credited to your account.
Thank you
Shaw Academy
I would like a full refund onto my card please so I can get my daughter the things she needs.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I am so glad they are issuing a refund on my account. I just hope they actually do, I will update thus when the money is back in my account. Thank you and Shaw Academy.
Hi ***,
Could you please let us the know reason why you reopened the ticket.

Shaw Academy

I would like to be reimbursed for the fraudulent charge made by Shaw Academy of $419.88 to my credit card.
Dear Student,
Our support team has informed that your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

This company should be reported to the state's attorney general's office for practicing bait and switch sales tactics, and for being non-compliant with cancellation requests.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
Thank you
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
While Shaw Academy responded that my subscription is cancelled, and that I will not be charged going forward, they have failed to cancel my current free-trial subscription. Additionally, I am still being bombarded with notifications advising me that I am late for class, and offers for the purchasing of diplomas.
As I requested previously, I'd like Shaw Academy to cancel my current trial subscription, and remove my e-mail and all my contact information from any and all further correspondence.
Thanks!
Dear student,
Your subscription was cancelled on 27-May-XXXX XX:XX. It may take up to 3 days to update the address modification/deletion.

Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

they are refusing to refund me
I signed up for 4 weeks worth of free classes, but then changed my mind and cancelled the classes thinking it cancelled the memebership, which it didnt. So I got charged $69.99. I emailed them and they are refusing to refund me for a membership I didnt intend to sign up for.
i want a refund asap.

Cancel the service prior to the 30 days so that I'm not charged.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I strongly feel "Shaw Academy" is a scam and is out to steal and cheat money out of people
I am seeking a full refund

A full refund of $34.99. I have canceled my membership on the website and the app 5 times and it still shows my status as ACTIVE. When I try to delete my payment info...the website goes blank.

Unable to cancel membership before free trial ends
I signed up for free 30-day trial membership, but when I attempted to cancel the membership 7 days before the trial period was over, the website said I needed to call a phone number. When I called the phone number (XXX-XXX-XXXX) no one answered after I waited on hold for over an hour. When I called the national number (XXX-XXX-XXXX) the recording says there is no one taking phone calls at this time. I have emailed the company at ***@shawacademy.com, but have not received a response.
Confirmation of my cancellation and not charging my credit card.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I want 69.99 refunded. It is dishonest advertising if I cancel during the free trial period, I receive an email saying I cancelled, then I'm still charged 69.99 anyways.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

Please give me the 69.99 CAD refund, or withdraw the charge on me, and cancel all my membership, subscriptions, plus deleting all my information like banking information, emails, phone numbers.
Dear Student,
Our support team has informed that your refund has been processed as per your request.

Full refund as the advertisement is misleading.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I hope that Revdex.com could help me get my refund. And if possible, I hope that Revdex.com could contact Fido (a Canadian phone carrier) to "off shelf" that offer on their app. Because that offer doesn't work at all.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
