Took the free 4-week trial on 4/20; Tried to cancel on 5/18. Charged credit card. On 5/20 once again charge for e-certificate that was never bought
After signing up the free trial on 4/20, it was advertised as a 1-month trial. On 5/18 we notice that it charged the premium membership ($69.99) even though when we logged in, it said that there was still 1 day left on the trial. All invoices are attached. We tried calling them but nobody picks up. We email them (Attached) and they claimed that it was a 4-week membership and that's why it was charged (even though the dashboard claimed we had 1 day left). We cancelled it on the 18th and now they said we had until June 15th to access the course material. After cancelling everything on the dashboard disappeared and there was no trace that the course even existed. We once again called them but didn't get a response. Today (5/20) we login and see that they once again charged $39.95 for an e-certificate. This certificate was never purchased and was billed from our credit card (it is pending now) without us doing anything. As we look over all the transactions, we also saw that they billed us $0.50 three times for a "card validation fee" which is another $1.50 that they got. All invoices are attached along with the email conversation. Pictures of the cancellation and empty dashboard pages are attached as well.

Desired Outcome

A full refund of $111.44. $69.99 for the the billing of the first month. $39.95 for the e-certificate that was never bought. $1.50 for the three "card validation fee" charges that were done.

They charged me several times since cancelling and won't refund.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial on March 20th. On March 27th I cancelled the account. On March 29th I received a confirmation email the account has been cancelled.
Since the confirmation email they have charged my account several times.
When I asked for a refund they said I could not get it because I didn't meet the terms and conditions.
I read the terms and conditions and it states if the account is cancelled within the trail there will be no membership charge.
I cancelled 7 days into a 4 week trail and got the confirmation 9 days into the 4 weeks.
They have charged me $70 multiple times since.
I did not agree to be charged.
Since my account was apparently cancelled on March 29 I have no idea how long these unauthorized charges are going to come out of my account.
Please help me.

Desired Outcome

I need my money back. This is a lot of money to be taking unauthorized at anytime but during a global pandemic!?! This is not okay. I'm a single mother with special needs children. I thought taking a collage course would better our lives, not ruin it.

Enjoying the trial period offered in order to attend and complete Module 1 and Lessons 1 to 8 for Photography. Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a difference with how my photographs changed from day 1 to day 20! Thanks so much Shaw Academy!

This company is refusing to give me a refund and I emailed them to let them know that the account was made without my consent.
My card was charged two times for $69.99 on May 18, 2020. I sent them an email and their response was I wasn't telling the truth and they dont offer refunds. How are they a credited school and or business that doesnt offer refunds for fraud.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund of $139.99 for whatever services they were trying to charge and a full documentation of how they retained my card information. I would also like to ask that this company no longer contacts me regarding this matter.

I accept this solution because this is what I been asking for. Can they please send a refund receipt to my email.

I cancelled my account at the end of my free trial and was still charged for a premium and they refused to refund my money.

I signed up for a free 4 week course on Shaw academy. I clicked on a link to learn about a "tool kit" and was automatically charged for two "tool kits" when I asked for a refund I was told no refunds were allowed. The end of the 4 week course I went through a bunch of prompts to try to cancel my account ultimately being told to call a number to cancel. I called but the number wasn't accepting calls at that time so I called again the next day and was able to cancel however they still took 69.99. I asked for my money back and they refused.

Policy stated my credit card would not be charged until 4 week free trial was completed. My credit card was charged $39.95. on the day I signed up.
I signed up for a free 4 week trial on May 15, 2020. Their policy stated my credit card would not be charged until the completion of the four week trial, if I did not cancel prior to them. My credit card was charged $39.95 on May 15, 2020.

Desired Outcome

In addition to the refund I wish for a voucher for a free one year membership for my troubles.

I have emailed Shaw Academy's "support" regarding not being able to access the account, which is where I assume the toolkit is within my account. Since no one has gotten back to me I have not received the toolkit and would request a full refund since I did not receive what I have paid for.

I never signed up for any courses at this academy and they continue to take money out of my account even after contacting my bank about fraud charges.
I realized 2 months ago that I was getting charged by "Shaw Academy" and I had no idea what that was, so I googled it. I have never signed up for courses or anything dealing with that company, so I contacted my bank for fraudulent charges. BOA put a stop payment on any withdrawals that Shaw Academy would try to do, so that they could no longer take money out of my account, and my bank sent me a new debit card. Then, the following month, Shaw Academy still managed to take money out of my account by changing their name to "Shaw A Shaw Academy" to get passed the stop payment. I called my bank again and they said the only way to completely take care of this is to change my bank account. However, I have my taxes, stimulus check, and bi-monthly paychecks getting direct deposited into that account, so I can't change my back account at this time without messing all of that up. Please help me stop these withdrawals and get my money back!

I want Shaw Academy to stop taking money from me for something I never purchased or signed up for. I want a refund for the $69.99 they just recently took out of my account, and want them to discontinue taking money out of my account from here on out.

But we have at no point taken payments from you, or any of the 5 million students we have educated unless the student entered their payment details to a secure payment page and manually completed the transaction. In every one of our emails, landing pages, offer banners and indeed the payment page itself, we do outline that the offer presented to you was a 4 week free trial which would run automatically into a monthly recurring payment if not cancelled.

We request you to check with your family or friends whether anyone has subscribed to our course with your email id or payment details shared with them.

Also, if any charge had occurred, that you feel should not have, it will be refunded. Please contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for any assistance including refund-related assistance.

I joined on March 13th (per my email) I didn't finish the setup process because I was uncomfortable with possible payment at the time. I emailed a Shaw academy rep on march 17th requesting to be removed as I wasnt comfortable paying anything right now. I received an email back on the 18th and was told not to worry, I was cancelled I wouldn't be charged. Then over a month later I see a charge on April 26th for a fee of $69.99 to Shaw Academy on my paypal log. I immediately wrote to Shaw and they continually told me that I'd agreed per the terms and conditions and they would not refund me. I pointed out to them that I had cancelled (and was even told I wouldn't be charged) well within the timeframe, as laid out by the terms and conditions. I pointed out their own error and in the email response from them they didn't even mention how I'd pointed it our. They refused to return my money and instead tried to offer me to take classes for a $600 value!!! I told them I did not trust that they wouldn't steal that from me anyway and I was not interested in anything further with their school. I have additional emails and screenshots to confirm my case if requested. Thank you.

I would like my money returned, and to receive some kind of confirmation that I will for sure not see their name pop up on my bank statement in the future.

They did email to my *** (which is the one I was communicating with them through) that they've finally removed my profile. However, I am requesting that the $69.99 they stole from me be returned. I attached in my initial filing a photo of screenshots, I included dates and If any further information is requested to Revdex.com I will be glad to share. I've already sent Shaw, via emails, my proof (which they ignored) that they went back on their own terms.

I got charged accidentally as their website was acting weird. The materials never delivered to my account and they did not want to refund me.
Everything was working fine for the first 2 weeks that I signed up for free trial with Shaw Academy. On May 17, the website was acting weird and as I was clicking on the course, I accidentally got charge $39.99. I immediately contacted Paypal, my Citi bank credit card company and Shaw Academy to complain on that charge and request to stop the charge. Shaw Academy sent me an email on May 20th, saying that they can't refund as the materials were already delivered to my course's account. The materials never delivered. I now can't even access to the course because their site is not acting normally. It does not show the course anymore. I found out other similar complaints about this Shaw Academy on Quora site as well. Just want everyone else beware about this company before you sign up with them. It will get a chance to charge you on everything as your credit card info is stored with them when you sign up for membership and you don't have a chance to say no to the charge, and eventually you don't get the refund even though nothing was delivered to you. You can see in my screenshot, the materials and certificate will only be delivered if I finish the course, but they already charge me now. My level is intermediate, which is module 2, my account only shows module 1. And I can't even access the course as the course shows up in the homepage (3rd picture only shows another course that I enroll (photography).

Desired Outcome

Simply, I just want a full refund. Shaw Academy emailed me and said the materials were delivered therefore they can't refund. Obviously from my screenshot (which I also sent to them) that I can't access my course, I can't complete my course and the materials only deliver after I complete the course. Shaw Academy offers to give me other materials for free but I want my money fully refund. I only pay for what I want. Now they offer something even more expensive, but if they are not what I want, they are worthless to me.

Shaw Academy should explain if they are accredited or not.
I have enrolled for one Program at Shaw academy but only realised that their course are no longer accredited and not globally accepted according to information from Wikipedia. My worry is they still say and advertise that they are accredited. One reason I enrolled is because they are "credited " so Shaw academy needs to explain. I have wrote several times to them to seek clarity with no avail.

I paid for a hard copy Diploma for an advanced course which I didn't get and then money was deducted from my account without confirmation.
First, I paid for a hard copy Diploma but I could not access the final assignment. Second, they had saved my card information and deducted money without any confirmation. I have been trying to contact them via e-mails for more than a day now and they haven't replied yet. I made a facebook profile amd posted on their page but still they didn't reply.

Desired Outcome

First, I want the hard copy Diploma for which I worked really hard and second, I want the money they deducted without any confirmation to be refunded back to my account.

They refunded the money they deducted from my account and forwarded the soft copy of my professional diploma.

Shaw Academy sets up purchase traps as they offer "Diplomas" and "Tool Kits" for additional cost via single click links that automatically charge.
Not only does Shaw Academy mislead you with the way in which their lessons are set up. They also have laid out "one click" purchase traps that do not require confirmation of purchases and do not even give you any information on what you are purchasing. In a matter of minutes they had charged me an additional $80 for services that should have been included in the original service. I'm very disappointed that a "professional" educational institution would use such scammy tactics to earn more from the people it claims to help.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full refund of the money the took from me via their "click-once" traps. I would also like them to remove these traps entirely or at least require a secondary confirmation of the purchase. I would have loved to try out their programs but this has completely turned me off from them and any recommendations/referrals they would have received from me. They could offer a free full lesson(all modules and diploma included) to make up for this in addition to the refund.

The Shaw Academy offered a free Marketing Course. but they charged me 69.99 on April 25 so I could complete the course they offered to be free. Refund
On March 28 I accepted to enroll to a free Marketing Course. I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL and the course was in progress when on April 25 the accademy charge me a membership to complete the course they offered free, this is a scam, I never received a notification or email previous of the charge as they said at the beginning.
I have contacted them several times but they refuse to provide the refund of my money, they told I have 6 months to use the app for the money they took without my authorization. They insist to keep my money even when I did not approved the money to be taken out and will not continue to use the app, they took the money from my credit card and want to keep it even when I have requested to have a full refund and a cancellation of the account they created. They said it was a free course but later they charge my credit card so I can complete the course they offered to be free. This is a scam, please refund my money.

The Shaw accademy wants to still my money as they refuse to give me my money back for a service I did not want or used.

Worse accademy I have ever been, they only post videos with slides, I could have find better information on YouTube.

They keep offering 6 months of a subscription I do not want.

I signed up for a free online class. I purchased the 'tool kit' they suggested as well, which I never used. I attended 7 classes and did assignments, I have emails to show those assignments complete. At my last class (class 8) it would not let me sign in and watch unless I paid an additional fee. They did not give me what was promoted and promised.

I would like to attend the class class and receive the certificate as promised, otherwise I'd like to file a complaint for dishonest business.

I was prevented from canceling a free trial subscription with Shaw Academy and the company subsequently charged my PayPal without my permission.
On May 18, 2020, PayPal posted a charge on my account from Shaw Academy with an amount of $69.99 USD. I had signed up for a free trial account for a photography class earlier in March, but I wanted to cancel the trial before it expired. However, after going through a very long winded cancellation process with automated phone calls and multiple automated emails, I was unable to cancel my account because I no longer had access to the email I used to sign up with Shaw Academy. The email account was longer accessible because it was a university email that expired since my graduation.
I tried to reach a customer service representative but was always met with automated calls. I tried explaining that I could not send an email through my original account I had signed up with, but that was never addressed by a representative either. Each communication to try to cancel my account was met by automated responses. I gave up, thinking that I wouldn't be able to do anything.

This happened on March 27,2020, well before the expiration date for the end of the free trial.

And then today, May 18,2020 I see that I had an unauthorized charge on my account made by Shaw Academy. I believe this charge is unfair and fraudulent: I never even used the services rendered and tried to cancel my account, but it was virtually impossible to do so.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking that Shaw Academy fully refund me the $69.99 USD that was charged from my PayPal and terminate my account, preventing any future unauthorized payments.

I have emailed ***@shawacademy.org requesting the refund; however, it has already been 5 days since I have emailed and have not received any correspondence, nor have I gotten refunded. I received an automated email from Shaw Academy stating that they had received my email requesting the refund, but in order to expedite their response, I would need to send an email using the original email address I signed up with (i.e. ***@qc.cuny.edu). However, that is exactly the reason why I filed this complaint with Revdex.com in the first place because I can NOT access that old email account anymore. I am dissatisfied with Shaw Academy's response; this issue is still unresolved and I am still waiting to be fully refunded.

It has been at least 10 days since I received the statement from the business that the refund has been credited back to my account. However, I have not received said refund in either my PayPal account or bank account. I was told that it would show up between 5-7 days. Please advise.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never authorized a purchase on my card.

Wrong charge for ecertificate and POOR customer service.
I purchased the tool kit for $39 and then received an offer to purchase the ecertificate for 90% off. When I went to purchase the ecertificate I was charged 100%. I asked for a 90% refund to receive my correct discount. They ignored my request and with my acknowledgment just added o package "worth" $199. I never asked and never accepted the package and now they say they can't remove it... I never asked for this credit of $199.
On top of that they ignored that I complained about the purchase of the Ecertificate and said they can't refund the toolkit. I never asked for a refund on the toolkit!
They also have a bunch of single click purchases throughout the website that is a pretty deceptive practice to easily get money from everyone.
I just want my 90% discount that was offered to me and should've been applied.
Be careful with this company as the try to scam people and just copy and paste the same reply to your emails. I had to send 5 emails and still didn't get a resolution. Such a shameful act and VERY poor customer service.

I want my rightful refund of 90% on the price paid for the ecertificate ($39.95).

Rgistration failed. Then proceeded to charge me!
I began the sign up process for the 4 weeks trial on the 18th of April 2020, then stopped.

Later, I recieved an email saying my course registration had failed and I should complete registration. I remember clicking on it and contemplating whether to complete registration or not. In it amongst other things was stated that a reminder email would be sent 3 days before the charge date.

I don't remember clearly whether I eventually completed registration or not. HOWEVER, I didn't receive a confirmation email or correspondence which led me to believe that I didn't.

I have not made use of their services since 18 Apr 2020. Only to find out a month later on the 16th of May that I had been charged. No reminder email was sent 3 days prior!

I emailed them and received what I'm willing to bet is an automated response as it was WORD FOR WORD what they sent to some other complainants here right down to the offer of 6 months access worth $399. Firstly, I live in the UK so should be in pounds and secondly, that makes NO business sense which leads me to believe that it was an automated response or the customer service was so appalling that they couldn't be bothered to check where I am based. This whole experience has been absolutely DISAPPOINTING and I'm disgusted with it all!

I demand a refund! I want nothing to do with your service! Keep your $399 access and give me back my money!

I contacted ***@shawacademy.com 5 DAYS ago and still haven't received a response. Doesn't seem to be a priority to them!

Furthermore, I looked at the invoices and saw that the toolkit and certificate offered in a previous email was combined, worth a whopping £22.99! Waaaayyy less than the supposed $199 worth. I knew it didn't make business sense.

Just refund my money! I respectfully want nothing more to do with Shaw academy and I want all my data deleted in accordance with the GDPR

After canceling a trial subscription and receiving confirmation by email, I was charged their subscription fee and have been unable to get anywhere.
Once I was charged and could not get in touch with Shaw Academy to discuss the dispute I looked them up online, something that I should have done previously, and saw that there were at least 450 claims filed against them for generally the same reasons. I canceled my subscription within the time permitted, went through an exhausting automated sales pitch that continues to make you a better and better offer each time you decline before my cancellation was accepted. Confirmation by email was received and I thought that was the end. They continued to email me over the next three days and then charged me on the third day for a service they acknowledged me canceling.
