Charged for something I never bought
This company is a big SCAM! Wasn't impressed with the digital marketing course so stopped doing it! Got bombarded by emails 108 emails in a month to be exact most asking me to purchase their toolkit, which I never did. Nonetheless they charged my account for the toolkit and when I asked what that charge was they told me that I had purchased the toolkit ,which I NEVER did, despite getting dozens of emails telling me it was my last chance. I never bought it as I wasn't impressed by the course and dropped out. I have been refused refund telling me that they transfered the material.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full refund and as compensation for this I would like access to their courses for a year free of charge.

I have been charged with a payment of 49.99. This payment was not authorised by me and I want a refund
I signed up to ShawAcadamy with a free trial. I however was not happy with the services and didn't wish to Continue using them. I have only used the services o ce or twice as I have been busy with other things. I remember caning the subscription on the 15/05/2020 but got no email to confirm this. Now I got a email saying my account has taken £49.99 out of my account. I am shocked as I had surely canceled the subscription as I barely used it so it would be silly for me to Continue with using the services. As I received the email today I went on to cancel the subscription through the phone as I wanted to make sure it is cancelled.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund of £49.99 that was taken out of my account on the 18/05/2020. I did not authorise this payment nor do I wish to continue using your services.

Make it seem it is easy to cancel from a free trial. They are sneaky - have to call long distance, not open on weekends when it's only a recording.
I signed up for a free trial and it said cancel anytime via your online account. One day before the trial ended I tried to cancel. Was told I have to call a long distance number to proceed with cancel. Was charged $69.99 CAD. Called the next day and talked to a recording that finally told me that my account has been cancelled. However, the recording did not verify my student number, email, name, or any information that they would have used to actually cancel my account.

This company is shady and I want my $69.99 refunded to my credit card. I do not authorize Shaw Academy to process any future payments from my credit card. There are so many other complaints about issues similar to this. They are sneaky and are praying on people in a crisis time. I had no intention to spend money on their service and feel tricked into what seemed like an easy process to cancel which is full of sneaky techniques to get money from people like me.

I have emailed them and asked to cancel my membership and so far have only received a confirmation email that they are processing my request. This business needs to be investigated. They are sneaky crooks.

I do not want to email this company directly any longer. They have my credit card information and I would like my money refunded ASAP.

This is from Shaw Academy terms and conditions as stated on their website -

"Cancellation: You can cancel your Shaw Academy membership at any time. If you want to enquire about a payment made on your account, please contact us at: ***@shawacademy.com. To cancel, login to your Members Area and click on the profile icon to access your student profile section. Under the Membership and Payments tab you can click on 'Cancel Membership & benefits' and follow the prompts. You will receive a couple of alternative options such as Pausing your membership or opting for a lower price plan. For a specific subset of students, you may be prompted to complete cancellation over the phone using a free phone number presented to you."

***YOU CAN CANCEL YOUR SHAW ACADEMY MEMBERSHIP AT ANY TIME*** - This simply is not true. I attempted to cancel my membership before my trial had ended and I was unable to. The only way to truly cancel a membership is to email them and this is not stated in their terms and conditions.

Before my trial had ended I attempted to cancel my trial through the directions above. I was told to call a number and then upon calling this number was told that they are only open Monday to Friday. However, this is only a recording and when you attempt to cancel through the recording it takes over 5 minutes and then you are told your membership is cancelled BUT you do not have a chance to provide any personal information so that they know which membership to cancel. It said your membership has now been cancelled. But I didn't give my name, student number, email, phone number - nothing!? How do you explain that Shaw Academy???

This is unjust business etiquette that is harming many unsuspecting people just wanting a fair free trial and I hope this company is investigated and their behavior is rectified and their victims repaid.

There should be an easy way to cancel your free trials. Why do you make it so much of a fuss unless you were aimed at confusing and tricking people into making payments to you when they want to cancel??

I will not email this company directly and go through any more sneaky trickery. Refund me my $69.99 CAD.

They advertise it as free 4 weeks course. No 4 weeks course is available. Once they got payment they recursively charge it for 70$.
I actually never even logged in there, just went to check if ANY course can be complied in period of "FREE" trial period (BTW it's NO - NO course can be completed in this time). I opened the request for cancellation in the minute I got charged (BEFORE TRIAL EXPIRED), they refuse to refund.
They charged me for a continuing membership BEFORE the end of the trial period. Once I realize that there is NOTHING FREE there and NOTHING I want purchase from this organization I logged out and never logged back. 4 weeks after I found 70$ charge in my paypal account, and immediately contact Shaw (scam) academy, thru paypal and their own sites.
There was NO way to sign up without giving them payment information - I have email from the Shaw Academy representative that claim "The issue remains that the terms and conditions were made readily available, you have accepted them and actually inserted payment details for a free trial/subscription service which had subsequent payments related to it, hence the contents were made available in your account which cannot be revoked.".
It was not obvious that they are getting charge me recursively (or in general, apply any type of payed subscription) for 69.99$ per month, it is hidden somewhere in the term and condition page.
The charge was after 28 days - before trial period expired, I contact them to cancel, but got the first answer 4 days after (when the trial actually expired).

There is no way to cancel the subscription in time. There is hundreds of people who fall victims to this scam you can found them here

Charged my account $69.99 never took any classes.
I got an ad on T-Mobile Tuesdays application. Shaw Academy was offering free classes for one month. The class immediately charge for tools, etc. You cannot take the class without paying. I emailed to cancel the class the following day. Yet they charged my credit card $69.99. I have emailed them but they only send form letters. There is no phone number listed to reach them. Requested a refund from this farce of a school. It is a scam.

Shaw Academy have unlawfully taken a payment for subscription despite me cancelling the free trial 2 days before the trial end and refuse to refund
I have signed up for a free 4 week Photographic Course trial with Shaw Academy on 3rd April (course trial period 03.04.XXXX - XX.05.2020). I wasn't satisfied with the course so I decided to cancel the trial and did so on 29th April. Despite an option to cancel online visible on the website profile, upon attempt I have been prompted that it was not possible to cancel my account online and urged to call Shaw Academy should I wish to proceed with the cancellation. I did as required and after about 10 min of a series of tedious automated messages offering ever so better deal I have been told that the account has been closed. I have not returned to Shaw Academy's website (despite last lesson being due the next day) until I received a PayPal receipt for £24.99 charged to my account by Shaw.
I got in touch with Shaw Academy's Zendesk to request a refund. Despite my compliance with t&c's of the service I have been told that I have agreed to be charged by submitting my card details and it is not possible to process the refund instead I have been offered 6months free access, which I was not interested in. upon my further complaint in which I explained the situation again and backed my query by extracts from Shaw's t&c's I have received another refusal and this time have been offered 12 months free instead of the requested refund which I was told 'there was no way' to process. after my further response in which I informed Shaw that I sought legal action and will file an injunction against them should they fail to confirm the refund within 48h they stopped responding to my emails all together.
I attach the record of my email conversation with 'Parnel' for your reference.

I cancelled my subscription during the free trial but was charged anyways. I contacted Shaw and the only response I got was that they couldn't find an account with my email address. If you can't find my account, then how was I charged!?

I got charged even after canceling the membership and deleting my account.
I registered myself for 4-week free trial. It clearly said that I can cancel my membership at anytime. I was not interested in Shaw Academy so after cancelling my membership around May 8, I even deleted my account. On May 14, I got charged with $69.99. I found it ridiculous because I don't even have an account anymore. I contacted Shaw Academy by email and they gave me ridiculous reply that they won't refund my money by which I was very disappointed. This is a fraud and I will not tolerate this.

Hi,

I emailed to the id you gave me. It is been a few days now and I have not got a response from them. Please understand that this wait is not fair to your customers who need this money during this pandemic. This money was taken when you did not reserve the rights over it. I need this money for my needs and I do not want to chase different people to get it back. I request you to do something as quickly as possible otherwise, I will have to take further action and file a legal complaint against your institution.

They charged me unfairly and are not returning the money. I have no interest in the product. It is schedule based and not as advertised.
My account was unfairly charged. I would like it refunded and cancelled for the future asap. I am not interested in any free subscriptions. I know I cancelled my account within the first week and am shocked to see a charge. I never used the service and am not interested in using it.

There are multiple complaints about this company on the Revdex.com, reddit, and google forums. Especially considering the time of covid-19, this expense is a complete waste and scam.

They offered me a 6 month free package but as mentioned earlier, the product is not as advertised and I have zero interest in supporting a company like this. I quit as soon as I signed up.

I cancelled my free trial via phone with Tamryn F Student Guidance Manager. I was incorrectly charged $69.99. No one will reply or issue a refund
I signed up for a free trial subscription online on May 12, 2020 for the certificate in photography course. My first class was scheduled for May 14, 2020 at 2:00pm PST so I logged on and tried to begin the course at that time. The course was unavailable for me to join. Then beginning at 9:15pm PST I received several email, phone call and SMS alerts notifyingme that my course was about to begin and that I had missed the course. Obviously I was very frustrated with how Shaw Academy was running. Since the course wouldn't even work I did not want to move forward with any of it I just wanted to be done so I would stop getting all of this spam. So I went on my app to cancel my free trial. Then after taking me through several steps online, Shaw Academy said I need to contact them via phone during business hours in order to cancel. On the following business day May 15, 2020 I called the number provided and cancelled my free trial membership via phone with Tamryn F, Student Guidance Manager. She assured me via phone and email that I would not be charged. I have a cancellation email from her as proof. Then on Saturday May 16, 2020 I checked my bank account and I had an unauthorized charge from Shaw Academy for $69.99 which caused my bank account to be overdrawn. I was also charged several overdraft fees. Tamryn told me to email her if I had any issues so I emailed her twice and still have not received a response. I also emailed support via the contact us section of the Shaw Academy website and I have not received a response from them either. I have requested multiple times for a refund and now my bank account is still overdrawn because of this one incorrect charge.

Desired Outcome

I need a refund put back into my account for the $69.99 as well as the overdraft fees that I have incurred from my bank due to this unauthorized charge. I also need Shaw Academy to delete my method of payment from their records and never use my debit card again. The Shaw Academy app shows that my membership is still active and yet I have an email confirming that it is canceled so I need further confirmation that this has been cancelled and I need this fixed as soon as possible.

I signed up for the free 30 day trial and cancelled days before it was up. They still charged my credit card.
I signed up for the free 30 day trial and cancelled it 4 days before it was due to end, and they still charged my credit card. They make it a lengthy process to cancel your membership, making you click through multiple screens online and then make you call a phone number at the end that's only available with certain hours.

I reached out many times to cancel a free trial subscription, on the first day of my free trial. They have now charged my account for 2 months $120.
I have called their cancellation line, I have emailed several requests to their helpline to cancel. They give you the run around every time. There is never any human contact, everything is voicemail or generated emails. I have posted on their twitter wall, and facebook wall. They remove the posts but still not contact and no cancellation. They have now charged my account twice at 59.99 each!!! I want my money back. I began attempting to cancel this the same day that I registered for their "Free Trial". Their phones say they are not being serviced by humans.

They are saying they cannot refund my money. Even though I had a 7 day free trial and contacted them SEVERAL times via email, contact form on their website, and through my "instructors" for class they signed me up for within that 7 day period and they did not cancel my subscription per my request.

Shaw Academy took money from my Paypal account eventhough I didn't authorise it
I signed up for a free 4 week course and I didn't cancel on time because they said they would send an email 3 days before reminding me that the trial was ending and they didn't do it. They charged me £69.99 for a Premium subscription that I never agreed to (the cost that shows in their page is £49.99, by the way) and I cancelled as soon as Paypal informed me about this. I proceeded to cancel my account and I received an email confirming the cancellation, but my account still shows as "Active". I sent them an email asking for a refund because I am not interested in taking the second part of the course and they answered saying that they can't make a refund, but they can offer me 6 months for free. I responded that I'm not interested in their offer and then they offered 12 months free and other free stuff. Again, I said I wasn't interested, I just want my money back and for them to confirm that my account is cancelled, and I received an email offering the same free stuff I've already refused. Also, I received an email today saying that my order for a hard copy of a diploma (which I never ordered) couldn't be completed, so I assume they are still trying to take money from my account.

I want my money back and my Shaw Academy account deleted definitely, because they are reactivating the accounts without letting the users know.

I was charged $69.99 for service that was cancelled before the end of the trial period and told that I could not get a refund.
On April 14, 2020 I started a 4 week trial with Shaw Academy. The terms that I agreed to said that if I cancelled before the end of the 4 weeks that I would not be charged. On May 10, 2020 I attempted to cancel the service online and was advised that I needed to call in to cancel. I called in to cancel, and after a lengthy attempt to get me to keep the service, the recording advised me that my service was cancelled. On May 12th I was charged $69.99 for the service. I sent an email to Shaw Academy, and they responded by telling me that it was too late and that I could not be refunded but they would cancel the service now. I responded back and repeated that I had cancelled the service on May 10th which was before the trial ended. I then received an email that said my issue had been resolved and was complete. I responded back and advised them that it was NOT resolved because I had not received a refund and that my 2nd response was ignored, I have not received a response.

I would like to be refunded the $69.99 that I was charged in error because I cancelled BEFORE the deadline but was still charged.

My money was refunded.

Trial membership was cancelled 2 days before trial pended and did not begin a new course module. Payment was not approved to process. Need refund
Shaw Academy forces you to put card information down for trial membership and even if you cancell before your trial ends they still process unapproved card payment for amount of $69.99. The only option is to deactivate account, yet you cannot remove credit card info so they process payment and then refuse to refund. I have emailed and instead being offered courses I am not interested in taking I deserve a full refund.

My credit card was used fraudulently to register for Shaw Academy and they will not refund my money.
My credit card was used in February by an unauthorized person and some charges showed up on my account. I contacted the bank and filed all the necessary paperwork, changed my bank card, changed my passwords, everything. Shaw Academy is the only company refusing to give me my money back. I have contacted them and told them this was not me and I would like a refund. The returning email informed me of the great features I have now that I purchased this course and they were going to give me 6 months for free. I replied that I did not subscribe to any courses, was not interested in any courses and just wanted my money refunded. I get a second response that tells me when the subscription started, that it was now canceled and all though they wont give me a refund, if I need any further assistance to contact them back!! YES I NEED ASSISTANCE!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! I told them I have never logged in to their website, never authorized the charge to my card, and am absolutely not interested in pursuing any kind of classes. I work 60 hours a week, am a 45 year old woman with a degree in accounting. I have NO INTEREST IN WHAT THEY HAVE! I sent the emails to my banker and even she was blown away at how they simply ignored EVERYTHING I said and refuse to refund my money.

Shaw Academy have failed to provide me with resources promised, failed to respond my to requests for support on this issue, and then charged me.
I signed up to a free trial of the Shaw Academy Nutrition Diploma in week commencing 6 April 2020. I signed up for some classes but did not realise that it was necessary to attend at a specific time, I thought that you could listen to a recording whenever you wanted - since the classes are delivered via recording and robot. As I failed to attend the classes at the specified time, the robot/system automatically de-enrolled me. Then on 12 April I received an email offering me a free toolkit if I reactivated my account.
"You have officially dropped out of your diploma. We believe in second chances and want to help you get back on track with your education so we're giving you 30 days free access and a free course toolkit to help you complete your Module. Reactivate your account and get back on track today!"
So I reactivated my account, but did not receive a free toolkit. I wrote to [email protected] immediately to advise them of this. I did nothing further as I was awaiting their reply. I received no reply. But I have now been charged 49.99. I have received no products, nor services, nor support in the last 30 days and do not wish to have anything further to do with this organisation. Please refund the 49.99 immediately.

Incorrect billing after cancellation
I signed up to a 28day free trial. I contacted the company to cancel my subscription, and received an email confirming my cancellation on the 7th April 2020. I was then billed £49.99 on the 3rd May. Having contacted the company they are refusing to acknowledge the cancellation and will not refund the money.

The email I got from them confirmed cancellation, and there was no instruction on that email that I needed to do anything more. Therefore I was led to believe that the subscription was cancelled I would not be billed. I have been deliberately misled and money taken from me wrongly.

Continued to be charged for services I cancelled. Customer service is not answering or responding via email, phone, or FB messenger.
Signed up for four free weeks via promotion with T-Mobile. After three weeks I cancelled my membership. A week later I was still charged $69.99 to my bank account . Every week since then (April 21st) I have tried making contact with them for a refund. Today I even made an attempt to contact someone through their business FB page. No one at the company seems to be answering or responding to communications . They changed their policy and are now able to cancel memberships on their website , so I confirmed that my account was officially closed and it was. However I was never refunded for the amount I was charged despite ending my membership within the window of cancellation before charges would occur.
I understand that it's a busy time and things are behind for businesses but a month without response is bad ethical business practices and I deserve an answer from them.

Desired Outcome

I seek to have a refund for the amount I was charged despite my inquiry for cancellation prior to the deadline. I would also like a formal apology letter from whatever person is responsible for communications at the company.

I waited to see if they were going to honor their word before responding. Today I was issued a refund from them for the full amount I requested.

I appreciate your assistance in helping with this company and their negative business ethics. I hope other consumers don't have to go through what I went through. Their Facebook business page, unfortunately, indicates otherwise.

I was charged after 1 click on a pop-up "get the toolkit" banner with no description, and refused a refund after reporting mistake the next minute
I subscribed for a 4 weeks of free trial course and was taking quiz sent to me after the first lesson. Then I was prompted to a pop-up banner advertising "get the toolkit" and intuitively clicked on it to see what was offered in that kit. And that turned to be a one click payment of $39.95 with no prior explanation and which I never authorized. I wasn't even given an option to see what I was buying and that I was actually making a purchase. And I never gave a permission for a "one click payment" options. I did found it was a purchase only after scrolling way down the page and receiving a notification from PayPal. I'm attaching the screenshot with all the charge details. It was made on May 14, 2020 at 1:27 AM EDT and I started to look for a cancellation option the very second after realized that I was charged. I never even opened the information being afraid of getting any additional charges. I wrote an e-mail explaining the issue to the seller at 01:35 AM EDT once found its contact. On May 15 I received a reply saying I would not be refunded and was offered some other services for a cost of $199 which sounded like a joke to me. At the time when everyone is facing extreme hardship due to COVID-19 I'm just feeling fooled and down since $39.95 is an amount I could buy 3 days food supply for my children.

Desired Outcome

I'm seeking a refund for the "purchase" which I wasn't given an option to see first.
