Shaw Academy Cancelled my account in their own accord and then continued to charge me after the fact.
On April 9 I opened an account on the Shaw Academy site for a free trial after their T-Mobile Tuesday promotion, within minutes I received an email from Shaw Academy cancelling my account due to their inability to keep up with overwhelming demand.
Note: I did not cancel the account myself
Portion of their cancellation email below:
" We wanted to apologise as with the unexpected volumes of new students, we were quickly out resourced and we recognise there have been issues with our students experiences lately. We are working fast to solve the problem, and in order to give back during this time we would like to give you 2 months access completely free, so that you can continue to learn even having cancelled your membership, there is no further charges, just 2 months on us to say thank you for choosing Shaw Academy and to assist you through the troubling times we all face in the current global climate. Please allow us 48 hours to apply this 2 months to your account."
The Shaw Academy states within the email that a credit for 2 months free will be applied to my account within 48 hours; the credit is never applied to my account and my account is subsequently charged on May 8th.
On May 9th, I reached out to their team about a be refund they claimed that they were unable to refund the charge due their agreement terms; and continued to push their services.
Desired Outcome
I would like the refund of the $69.99 that was charged.

Dear Student,

I couldn't cancel my free trial in time because their automated system won't do it on the weekend.
On April 6th, I signed up for a free 4 week trial of Shaw academy. The trial went well, but that is all I wanted to do. My subscription was set to start on May 4th, so on Sunday, May 3rd, I attempted to cancel it. I went through ALL the steps online. Finally it said that I'd have to call a number to cancel. So I called the number and the automated voice said I'd have to call during business hours. I still called once more on Sunday, but got the same reply. I called Monday morning and still got the same reply until "office hours". When I finally got through, it was still automated and took me through many steps which I did and then it said I already had paid for the month's subscription. I still canceled but wasn't able to get to talk to anyone to get my money back. When I signed up, I knew I'd need to cancel before May 4th and I tried to. But it never said that it had to be done during business hours. I would have done so if I would have known. I have been in email contact with them and all they want to do is give more instead of just giving me my money back. That's all I want because it wasn't disclosed that you had to cancel during business hours. I keep getting automated answers and phone numbers don't work, and I am extremely frustrated at how they are handling this.
Desired Outcome
I would like my $69.99 refunded to my account.

Thank you for agreeing to refund the money back to my account.
Shaw academy processed an unauthorized charge on my be it card. I claimed a refund but they are ignoring me.
On April 30 I subscribe to Shaw accademy for attending a nutrition course. They course was free but they still wanted my credit card information to avoid people to subscribe without really attending the lessons. When the course started I was trying to attend my first class but here was no way to start it. I wrote to them, I look for assistance, I checked the menu, but the class would not start, the only option I had on the Web site was to push on a Toolkit link. So I pressed it, expecting another step before the payment; I expected to see some options coming or, at least, a confirmation step before any sort of payment. Instead I was charged right the way. I immediately cancelled my subscription, so not only I didn't use that Toolkit, I also did not attend any class. I have been writing to them for more then 2 weeks asking for a refund, but they are ignoring my e mails. The way they conduct their business and the way their website is built is very tricky, even dishonest in my opinion. Expecially in this difficult moment, when people are struggling for money because cannot work, their are taking advantage of us. On 05/04/20 my debit card was charged 39.95 and even if I am claiming my refund they are literally ignoring me.
Desired Outcome
I just want my refund

Shaw Academy refuses to cancel our courses, despite calling and emailing.
My wife and I enrolled in Shaw Academy after seeing an advertisement online; free course if completed within a month. We were interested in the photography course. We both put in our credit cards for payment for after the month trial if we decided to continue.
I do some research the next day; low and behold, many reviews said scam and that their "diplomas" aren't worth anything. And getting them to cancel courses/refund money is notoriously difficult.
My wife called in light of this to cancel and, sure enough, they refused to cancel. I sent emails, they spammed me with offers of premium membership.
They have not charged us (yet), but I WILL take them to court and bring *** with me if they charge either myself or my wife.
All we want is our request of cancellation to be honored, which they are refusing to do. I don't want the hassle of having to track them down to get reimbursed on an unauthorized charge.
Desired Outcome
Cancellation of courses and emailed proof of cancellation, as specified by my email to them, no charging us.

I accept that response, as I had requested an email confirming the cancellation and received such email.
Now, while I DO appreciate Shaw Academy's response in cancelling my courses, I would like one more email assuring me that no charges will be made to my bank account @ ***@gmail.com; accordingly, an email to my wife *** at ***@yahoo.com assuring her that she will not be charged either, as she cancelled a little before this response.
I include this only because I have seen multiple reviews stating charges were still made to accounts that cancelled during their trial after the trial period was up.
Thank you again to Shaw Academy for respecting my wishes
I signed up for their free trial and cancelled before it expired. I got an email of successful cancellation but was charged of $59.99 twice after that
March 27 before my free trial was to expire, I cancelled it through the website and it said to call a number. I did. But it was hard to get intouch with someone and gave my number so that they can call me back but I never got the back. And so I sent the first email requesting cancellation. (See 1st picture). 2nd picture was a reply saying there was an issue cancelling and would take about 48 hours to see changes(that was on Mar 30). 3rd picture-April 2nd got a reply saying its been cancelled. 4th picture - April 17, my card was charged. So I try to get a hold of them and failed. And then today, I got charged again. I got charged $59.99 twice After receiving an email from them about successfully canceling their services.
Desired Outcome
I need to be given back my money that they charged my card twice. And they have to stop charging my card.

I never received the services they indicated on their ad. I'm requesting a refund and they are unresponsive.
On Monday Apr. 13, 2020, I signed up for the 4-week free trial for one of the courses. I never received an email confirmation when I signed up, but I did get a WhatsApp message about the upcoming appointment. I was unable to login with the link sent since my email credentials weren't matching. I tried everything and couldn't log into my "student page". I messaged them on WhatsApp on Thursday Apr. XX XXXX about missing the class scheduled for April 15, 2020 and the fact that I hadn't been able to log in. I never received a response. On Friday May 8, I reached out to them via email at ***@shawacademy.com to cancel before the trial period ended on May 11, 2020. They responded and said they couldn't find me on their record. They requested the following information:
-Full Name
-Phone Number(with ISD/country code)
-Payment Receipt(With card last 4 digits or PayPal email address)
I emailed back with everything except for the payment receipt that I never received. I did give them the last 4 numbers of the debit card I used. I never heard back from them. I have reached out multiple times to cancel and haven't had any success. By now, my account has been charged the $69.99 after-trial fee. This is also erroneous, their site claims the classes are $49.99 after the trial period. On Wednesday May 13, 2020 I sent an email to ***@shawacademy.com after seeing a post on the Instagram page @shawacademy.scam. The post claimed this was the direct person to reach out to and I sent an email explaining the situation and requesting a refund. I have yet to hear back. Overall, I am feeling scammed, ignored, and disappointed in the whole matter.
Desired Outcome
I would like to be refunded the full amount of $69.99 and to be taken off their billing cycle.

I asked Shaw Academy to delete my account because I no longer desired their services. I woke up to see they still charged my card.
I e-mailed the help to let them know I no longer desired their services and I refused their offer to make up for it with courses as I have chosen another company over theirs. I thought it was all over until I saw they withdrew $59.99 from my card this morning. I am complaining because the first time, my account was labeled as inactive when I didn't have the money the first time, and they withdrew $59.99 then also. I did not want to pay for the membership and the fact they are refusing refunds for something I did not want is disgusting. This company is a joke and a scam, and the fact they received over 500 complaints in the last 3 years for something similar is alarming. If they do not do something about this soon, I will be getting in contact with my attorney soon.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund for this morning's withdrawal as well as the one I had before.

I contacted support to make sure my account was canceled and was assured it was. I got charged $69.99 at the end of the month. They refused to refund.
April 1st I signed up for a free month trial. they charge PayPal $0.50. I complained about the charge and they refunded the $0.50 charge. However it deactivated my account and my email was no longer recognized in the system. I contacted support to make sure I wouldn't be charged again. They confirmed I wasn't in the system At the end of the month, on April 30th, 2020, I got charged $69.99. I contacted the company and they said that I didn't cancel in time. I told them that I had contacted support to make sure I was canceled and support had assured me I was not in the system. They have refused to refund me and have repeatedly sent me emails that are copy and pasted and include very patronizing language and refused to address my specific concerns. There is an issue with the program. Once that charge was removed my email wasn't recognized in the system. I had no access to the system to go in and cancel. I couldn't change my password *** my email wasn't recognized. I contacted support several times and got the run around several times. They are refusing to refund my money. Here are a few of the transaction numbers and support people's names:
Vaughan (Shaw Academy) ***@shawacademy.zendesk.com, Marcas, Vadik. all the emails come from the same support email and they are all the same language they're very long and wordy and do not address my specific concerns. I have screenshots of the most relevant, including an email in early April confirming my email is not in the system.
Desired Outcome
I want to be refunded the 6999 that they illegally charge for me. I can only attach one of the screenshots which shows that my email was not recognized in their system. they have not addressed my specific concerns and I am concerned that this is a scam business and they are doing this to lots of other people. I have further evidence of my experience and can share more support documentation with you.

I am relieved that my money was finally refunded. I am grateful to the Revdex.com for making it happen. This company refused to read my emails or address my specific concerns until I contacted the Revdex.com. Thank you for your service and helping protect consumers!
Contacted company by email a month ago regarding desire to cancel membership- thought it was settled, still attempted to collect this month
I missed free trial cancellation cut off last month and knew it, did not ask for refund just asked for account to be cancelled via email. To my knowledge this was settled. Because I had that sort of feeling about things, I cancelled my paypal payment agreement to make sure of things- sure enough got a notification this morning that the "payment for my membership had failed" - emailed again today to attempt to find out why my membership has not been cancelled as promised to make sure my account does not go into collections or something ridiculous. Get vague email back talking about modules purchased and six free months- not addressing lack of action on their part at all. Membership still active when I log in. I do not wish to call to cancel because of aggressive sales techniques- just cancel my membership as promised a month ago already!
Desired Outcome
Confirmation of cancellation of account and cessation of financial agreement. I do not authorize this company to access my financial details.

Attempted to close my account before charge, wasn't closed on their end and they charged me and won't refund me now.
I signed up for Shaw Academy's free 30 day trial, I was aware that I would be charged once the trial was over, which was why I went to cancel my account on Friday May 8th, which was 2 days before my trial would end. I signed up on April 12th, and had until May 10th to cancel my membership. I had received a code and a number to call, which I proceed to do, here is the code: XXXXX. On Sunday my paypal was charged $69.99, I went to check and my account said it was Active, it was never closed completely. I sent an email, but to no avail I was denied a refund. I feel this is not fair as I made sure to go into my account TWO days before my trial ending but it wasn't closed on their end, I am in marketing/retail so I understand how businesses and subscriptions work, so I believe I deserve my money back since I did everything in MY power to make sure I wouldn't be charged. Attached is my paypal receipt also.
Desired Outcome

I have subscribed the 4 weeks free course of diploma in leadership and management in 12 April. the shaw academy charged me £69.99 twice(total £139.98) on 11 May from my card without telling me anything and in the period of the free course. I already called to confirm the cancellation at 12 May(at the end of the 4 weeks courses) but I found my membership type still in active premium membership! please cancel my membership in time when I asked for and I do not want to renew my account. Shaw Academy, LLC is scam. What presents as an online service tool has resulted in predatory billing methods and unnecessary loops to cancel service.
Shaw Academy offers rudimentary technological services with an inability to access course materials in the manner they advertised. I attempted several times to terminate my subscription but UI/UX for their app is not geared to allowing individuals to cancel subscriptions AND when you get to the final screen to cancel, they require an additional step via phone call to cancel. Said phone call must be made during a specific time. Furthermore on the call itself, you must complete a series of questions taking 5 minutes of speaking to an automated voice before the subscription could be cancelled. I've sent message relating to the need for cancellation when I was eventually charged via PayPal for a module that I have not signed in for or attended. Had the cancellation methods not been predatory and evasive, I would never been charged. I need a full repayment from Shaw Academy.
Desired Outcome
I need a refund immediately.

This is such a scram of a company. I was charged $69.99 even though I cancelled my 4 wk subscription the first day and had the bank block the company.

Shaw Academy has provided a full refund as requested as a response to my post on trustpilot.com
Shaw Academy purposefully makes giving them money too easy, as well as cancelling much too hard.
So I signed up for Shaw Academy because of an advertisement I saw giving one free month of membership. I connected using my PayPal account. As I was browsing their course app, I saw something about a certificate and clicked the button. Much to my surprise, I find that that button is a '1 button payment' link, which takes $35 USD out of my PayPal account to give me a certification at the end. I can't believe they have 1 touch payments. That is very shady. There needs to be a confirmation to protect consumers. I contacted their team about this, and asked about a refund. I haven't gotten a reply yet.
Then I join my first class today, just to find that their 'scheduled classes' are just prerecorded videos, and not live at all. After the sketchy payment, and then this, I went to cancel my membership. In order to do this, you go to the cancel membership page on the site. You hit cancel, and it takes you through what must be like 8 different pages that you need to find the hidden button to actually cancel. Then you finally get to a screen that tells you you need to call this region specific number and give them your access code to cancel. I do this, and low and behold 'their office is not open right now, call back later'.
This is ridiculous. I cannot believe you need to call them during business hours just to cancel my free membership.
This entire company is a scam to try to get people stuck in payments, and make it very difficult to get out of them. I've disgusted.
Desired Outcome
I want to have that one time payment refunded, the $35 USD for my final certificate, as well as have my PayPal taken off so they don't start charging me monthly for their 'service'

Continuing to get charged after canceling membership
I signed up for a free 4-week course with Shaw Academy that I saw promoted on Facebook for Graphic Design. After signing up and seeing the modules and that the full course was actually 8 weeks long, I cancelled the membership (March 19). I was told that to properly cancel I would have to go online to "My Membershio" page and cancel through there. Tge last step of the cancelation process was to call a number and speak to someone. I called at least 10 times within a week period and was never able to get anyone so again I emailed Shaw and demanded my membershio be cancelled as it was now 2 weeks and I had NOT even taken one class. Again, I got the goaround about canceling and how my future will be brighter with this certification. I said absolutley not cancel my membership! Finally I got confirmation that my account was successfully cancelled on April 8. I didn't think anything of it and last week checked my bank account and noticed that I got charged $59.99 on May 9 for Shaw Academy. I went back to my April statement and saw that they charged me $59.99 on April 9.
I have been in contact with Shaw Academy telling them that I cancelled my membership on April 8 which was the last day of the 4 week period. They said that I had purchased the Digital Toolbox and that is why I was charged. I didn't take any classes therefore why would I buy the toolbox. Also, the toolbox if purchased was $29.99 NOT $59.99. After I fought that I did not purchase the Toolkit I was then told that I hadn't cancelled within the 4 week trial and therefore were charged. I said I had first tried canceling on March 19 and was told that inquiries are not considered.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund of the $59.99 charged in April 2020 and May 2020.

I'm being enrolled in a class/course without any permission by me and getting charged as per their staff.
Recently I was lured into a 4 week free trial by an ad on facebook. I was able to see that I wasn't going to be charged unless I cancel my account before 30 days. I actually did this immediately after giving my information. It was done so after noticing that they had reviews of unwanted charges and enrollments from other people. Low behold 5 minutes later I get a notification by my bank for a charge of $39.95 that was made by them without my authorization. This is one problem. Another is that as I was trying to cancel my account the app was telling me that I have to call a number to confirm cancellation. However the screen didn't show any number for which to call(I will provide proof on images) I had to look in the internet a number to call them. I was able to find +X (XXX) XXX-XXXX online. I called numerous times to only get a "our phone lines are closed" answering machine. I emailed as well to which they finally replied and confirmed that my account was cancelled unless I had any payments left to pay. I wrote to them that I should'nt have anything purchased or charged on for which I'm on a free trial. I get an email days later saying that I have purchased an "e certificate for professional diploma in graphic design module 1". I never ever purchased this and I'm so furious. As they have compromised my card and information without my permission. They are charging me for something I never gave authority for them to do. Im sure of this as I always analyze all transactions done. There wasn't even a receipt for this purchase. This academy is committing fraud and is a huge scam for using people's card without permission.
Desired Outcome
I want to be refunded the $39.95 they charged my account without my consent or authorization. I also want to make sure I'm in no way enrolled or going to be charged for anything else in the future. In addition I want my information to be deleted from their archives.

I will accept this but only after my money is returned and my name is completely erased from there business. I'm really afraid they will use my card without my permission. There have been many people online talking about Shaw using their card and scamming people into thinking everything is resolved. On the pictures is a page that has been up for victims of their business.
My account keeps on being charged for membership.
I had hoped to be able to continue my study, however financially this was not possible. What displayed as the cancelling process was only the long winded process of trying to hook you in and soon after trying to process my cancelled membership I was charged. I then attempted the cancellation again to which I was successful however they continue to try and take the amount from my account. I have sent numerous emails in which no one responses. I have not used the service since my trial had ended and I do not which to use the service any longer
Desired Outcome

Service never rendered as cancelled on March 20th. Shaw took $59 from my PayPal account without authorization on May 11th. I want a refund now!!
This company ran a ad on Facebook offering free classes for graphic design . You only pay if you want a certificate. I signed up on March 17th but by March 20th I knew I had no time and called the number to cancelled . There is no live person you speak to for cancellation so it is done by using an automative system. I removed all of my billing information out of the system online and I moved on. May 3rd I received an email asking to come back but I ignored it. May 11th at 9pm at night, I get a notification from PayPal that they took $59.99 out of my account. I'm shocked as I cancelled them in March and I did not sign up for anything.
This company is a scam. I did not sign up for a class and yet they made an unauthorized transaction.
Desired Outcome

The Shaw Academy states within the email that a credit for 2 months free will be applied to my account within 48 hours; the credit is never applied to my account and my account is subsequently charged on May 8th.
On May 9th, I reached out to their team about a be refund they claimed that they were unable to refund the charge due their agreement terms; and continued to push their services.
I would like the refund of the $69.99 that was charged.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
I couldn't cancel my free trial in time because their automated system won't do it on the weekend.
I would like my $69.99 refunded to my account.
Dear Student,

I just want my refund

I am very satisfied. Revdex.com solved my problem. Thank you
Shaw Academy refuses to cancel our courses, despite calling and emailing.
Cancellation of courses and emailed proof of cancellation, as specified by my email to them, no charging us.
Dear student,
The subscription linked to the email id "***@gmail.com" was Cancelled on 13-May-XXXX XX:XX.
Please share the registered email id of your wife to cancel the subscription linked to that email id. You can also contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for any assistance.
Thank you
Shaw Academy
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I need to be given back my money that they charged my card twice. And they have to stop charging my card.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
I never received the services they indicated on their ad.
I would like to be refunded the full amount of $69.99 and to be taken off their billing cycle.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
I asked Shaw Academy to delete my account because I no longer desired their services.
I would like a refund for this morning's withdrawal as well as the one I had before.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Confirmation of cancellation of account and cessation of financial agreement. I do not authorize this company to access my financial details.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I would like to have my money back as I am not planning to continue my courses and I do not find it very professional or fair to not refund your customers for your own mistakes.

I am satisfied
the shaw academy charged me £69.99 twice without invoices during the period of free courses. my membership didn't be cancelled in time after I called.
More importantly, I want to get my refund in total £139.98 asap please! this is absolutely unauthorized and can't find any invoice.
1. get my refund back in total £139.98 asap. 2. make sure I have cancelled the membership permanently and won't get any further charge.

I need a refund immediately.

I received the refund and can put this issue behind us as resolved. A refund is an acknowledgment of their practice and
This is such a scram of a company. I was charged $69.99 even though I cancelled my 4 wk subscription the first day and had the bank block the company.
I was charged again today 69.99 for a service I cancelled a month ago. I emailed Customer service indicated they did not have my information when I asked for a proof that I cancelled since I had to do it through the phone. They did not provide me proof but I went through my bank to cancel my subscription. I was charged again. I cannot remove my banking information from there site.
Refund and cancellation of my service.

My credit card was being charged before my trial ended 4 weeks free trial
I have subscribed for 4 weeks free trial on 13 Apr 2020 photography course. I went in to cancel on 11 May 2020, however, my card has already been charged with $69.99.
I still got an email that I still have 2 days left on 11 May.
I have written email to support, submit ticket and via facebook requesting for a refund and to cancel the account.
I have not attended any new classes and I would like to have refund.
full refund of $69.99
Shaw Academy has provided a full refund as requested as a response to my post on trustpilot.com

I am seeking a refund of the $59.99 charged in April 2020 and May 2020.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I want to be refunded the $39.95 they charged my account without my consent or authorization. I also want to make sure I'm in no way enrolled or going to be charged for anything else in the future. In addition I want my information to be deleted from their archives.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Stop charging my card for membership.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
Thank you
Service never rendered as cancelled on March 20th.
I would like a full refund and my billing information removed from their system . I removed it myself online but I apparently need it removed on their end as well
