Refund for an unintentional banner purchase.
I signed up for the four week trial over the weekend May 9/10 via my PayPal account. When I went to sign on the Sunday I noticed another course I had shown interest in in the past (online digital marketing) but never went ahead and gave Shaw my payment details etc.
As they have banners that pop up when you enter the homepage, I thought I was clicking the X for the certificate when in fact I'd accidentally purchased said certificate for the course I didn't want to take.
When I realised my error I contacted Shaw immediately and explained my situation but was told they do no offer refunds and offered me instead a 'Toolbox' at the value of $199. By this time, I'd received several calls and text messages reminding me of my subscribed course and didn't like their invasive approach so cancelled my trial.
I have since messaged Shaw
again demanding a refund and contacted their PayPal email account. Again I have received another email upping their 'Toolbox' value to $499 and not offering an email.
The original purchase number via PayPal is: ***
They have continued to contact me via SMS and phone call when I have asked them to stop. I do not appreciate their harassment tactics.
Desired Outcome
A refund of the certificate I will not be needing back onto my PayPal account

I had a charge come out of my account of $69.99 that I did not authorize. Last time I spoke with you I didn't want the toolkit that was charged me $39.95. That's $109.94 that I didn't authorize!!! I want all my money back. I have contacted my bank. They had to cancel my card due to the activity Shaw Acadamy had done. I do NOT want to use your services. When I did sign up it was for a free class. I logged in once and watched the class and was not satisfied. On your end you can see that I did not complete it or logged in in over a month!
When I first contacted them about the accident click of the $40 dollar tool kit they sent a automated message offering me free stuff. I said I did not want that. Now when I had emailed them about this issue they sent me the SAME EMAIL OFFERING THE SAME STUF! I am requesting a full refund for the full amount of $109.94 and you will also be hearing from my bank. Please do the right thing and refund my money. If that's not a option have your manager call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX and will talk further action for getting my money back!
And cancel my account and delete all of my account info. Reference number to me trying to cancel it is XXXXX.

I have tried to cancel my membership and got the run around.
on March 31, 2020 I went to my account to attempt cancel my membership and it told me to call a specific number and use a code. After I got through all of the unnecessary sales on the phone at the end of the call they told me that I had to cancel online. That made me decide to just email them because I was getting the run around.

I'd like to cancel my subscription, but I have no access to my account. When I try to login it asks for my payment info, which I have already shared.
On 5/6/20 I subscribed on a 4 week free course with shaw accademy.
Upon my subscription I was prompted to share my payment info. A few minutes later, I got two emails from my payment provider. One stating that shaw academy had charged me $0.50 cents for their service and another email stating that a refund of the $0.50 cents was made. Keeping in mind that this business promotion was 0 charge for 30 days! Anyways, I did not pay much attention to this since I got a refund.
It has been over a week and I had not checked the curse. I decided I wanted to cancel my subscription. I went through my emails and I noticed that I had no emails from shaw accademy, welcoming me to the course.
I opened their page and tried to login but I couldn't. Immediately after this, I got a welcoming email. I clicked on the link and to access my account I was asked to type in my payment info (i did not do it). I clicked on forget password, and after several attempts, I finally got an email to reset my password. However once AGAIN I am prompted to share my payment method.
I should have access to my account if I have ALREADY shared my payment info!!!
It has been less than 8 days since I subscribed for their service and if I cancel now I should not be charged. The big question is how to cancel the service without having access to the account!!
I am not going to be sharing any payment information. As a customer, I should be able to change, modify, or cancel my subscription without any problem!
Desired Outcome
I want to cancel my subscription!! I do not which to get any charges from a service I am not able to take.
I do not wish to be contacted by this company after this issue is resolved.

Though I cancelled my subscription before my trial ended, Shaw Academy refuses to refund me. Finding how to cancel was extremely difficult and this is
I made sure to cancel my subscription with Shaw Academy the night of April 26th. I had wanted to cancel earlier but they gave no indication of where to find the cancelation button on their website. It seemed like a trap. When you did find where to cancel they kept asking again and again if you were sure. Doing this once is understandable but the degree to which they did it was unreasonable. Knowing my free trial was coming to an end I wanted to cancel as soon as possible to avoid being charged especially during the current pandemic crisis when money is tight. Once I finally found where to cancel, they indicated that I had to call during specific hours to confirm. This put off my cancelation even further and I then feared being charged. To my surprise, when I called it was just an automatic recording so I do not know why the hours mattered. It was unclear to me that the trial started when you made an account and not when you had your first class.
Desired Outcome
In light of the current times, I cannot afford this charge and would like a refund. I find that the website is not very user friendly. Finding the cancellation button was very difficult and even when I did cancel online I had to phone on top of that pushing my cancellation of because of specific phoning hours. Despite there being specific times to phone it was an automatic recording.

I asked for cancellation almost immediately after signing up and was refused a refund.
I signed up for the free trial during the pandemic, thinking I would have time to learn something new. I discovered almost immediately that I do not have the time or patience right now due to my job plus now being required to homeschool my children, so I requested cancellation almost immediately. I was told at that time that my payment hadn't even been processed and that nothing would be charged to me. Then a month later I noticed they charged me $70 and so I requested a refund. Very rudely I was told that the payment could not be refunded because I agreed to the terms and conditions. The terms and conditions said that you could cancel within the 4 week trial period, which I did. They said nothing about Shaw Academy charging me anyway and not processing my cancellation until after they charged me. I requested the cancellation at the beginning of April, and was charged at the beginning of May.
I have read some other complaints similar in nature and am afraid that nothing will come of this, and I will need to chalk it up as a loss, but not without letting others know about this horrible "company" and their practices.
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund of my $70 that was charged to me after I requested cancellation.

Shaw Academy charged my account BEFORE the billing date for the end of trial period and will not refund my money.
I enrolled in a 4 week trial course and if you cancelled before these 4 weeks you would not have to pay any fees or subscription costs. I logged in to my account to cancel three days before the end of the trial period. I was shocked to find that Shaw Academy had already charged me $70. I reached out to their customer assistance requesting a refund. They responded and stated that they were abiding by the terms communicated to me and offered an extension of the subscription period. I declined and stated they were not authorized to charge my account as they charged me BEFORE the trial period ended. They refuse to refund me. This is ridiculous, especially during COVID-19.
Desired Outcome
I have already cancelled my subscription. I would like a refund of my money that they wrongly charged.

I signed up on the free trial. I am still in free trial period. I have not accessed the course and I no longer want to. I am unable to cancel!
I signed up using the free trial. I am still within the trial period and decided after more research that the course wasn't for me. I wanted to leave and cancel. I went through 6 click pages of 'are you sure you want to cancel' clicking yes each time. I got to the end telling me I have to call to cancel. I called, it played an automated message and then the call ended. I called again, it played the automated message, it rang and rang and rang and I got a message saying I would get a call back. No call back over 24 hours later. I have emailed to cancel. No response. I do not want to be charged for a course I haven't used and don't intend to use. I want out!
Desired Outcome
I would like Shaw Academy to cancel my subscription and not take any payments from my account. I would also like my account deleted and personal details removed from file.

After doing complaint, I got my refund.
I cancelled my free trial account on the day I signed up and have email confirmation that everything is cancelled. Got billed the next month $69.99.
I cancelled my account that I signed up with ***@gmail.com under the name *** on April 7th. I have email confirmation proof. On May 5th, I noticed a charge on my paypal account for premium membership.
When I noticed this charge, I went back to Shaw Academy and was able to login in again... Everything I cancelled in April was not cancelled at all and I don't want any of my information on your site anymore and want my refund back. I contacted customer service and they said that my account doesn't exist anymore, which is what I wanted, but I'm still getting charged and able to access my account. I have attached pictures of the email stating my account was cancelled in April, the membership charge I got in May, and somehow being able to log in to the account and it not being cancelled. I contacted customer service and they said they couldn't give me a refund because I agreed to the "terms" but the terms say that if I cancelled before the billing period, I shouldn't be charged, which is what I did. I don't know why I'm being billed for an invalid account. Now, the customer service guy keeps offering me deals and refuses to give me a refund. Instead of refunding me, they charged me again for a foreign transaction fee.
Desired Outcome
I'm looking for a refund of the premium membership $69.99 + the foreign transaction fee $2.09. There never should have been subsequent payments allowed, yet they took advantage of my information over terms that should be invalid since my account membership was cancelled.

I signed up for a free 30 day trial with Shaw Academy and cancelled within the timeframe stated, but was charged. I called again to cancel my trial but couldn't speak to anyone, only an automated voice message. I was again able to cancel my account, but was then charged again. Scam. I didn't even start the trial month, and the period wasn't even over, that these thieves took 49.99 from me, without preventing or informing !
Scam, I didn't even start the trial month, and the month period wasn't even over, that these thieves took 49.99 from me. Since then I have logically asked for a refund, but they categorically refuse by pretending everything and anything with repeat tickets. I have seen that I am not the only one, but se are a lot in the same case. I hope that with this complaint the thing will change.
I asked for a refund of the 49,99 that were taken unfairly and without my consent. I explained that I am a student in a difficult situation, I can't afford to pay for something that I didn't even try - to believe in - in the first time !
I have been tricked by their Facebook publicity sayin precisely « Subscribe now to our free month trial of Marketing Digital online course ! ». It was supposed to start in 7 April, and logically to end in 7 May if we count 30 days. But the context of Covid-19 made that I had to change my home location, and I couldn't even start the program and I didn't attend to any class, not even in the supposed first day (7 April). So I never started the programme, and still I was keeping a close look to the end of the trial date to unsubscribe before (7 May), regarding the term of the contract and the publicity. It happened that in 4th May - due to a better personal conditions - I wanted to start the month of trial and try the Shaw academy. So I sent an e-mail asking If it's possible to start from now the month of trial, since I didn't have any time before. And I planned to unsubscribe till the 5 or 6 May, depending on their answer and before the first deadline.
My e-mail was sent at 5 AM (Paris Hour). What did the Shaw Academy do ? In 12 AM I have seen that my account have been debuted from an amount of 48,99. Without any answer to my e-mail nor any notification. Everything is done to fool the consumer and to trick him, by no clear information about the contract duration and no notification alarming about the end date of free trial for example. And I learned - after they took money from my account only - that their month of trial, is not really a month, but 4 weeks, which mean 28 days. It's a clear lie in their first Facebook Adds, that tricked me and unclear conditions and terms of contract.
Whatsoever, I did the calcul 7 April + 28 days give us and end subscription at least in the 5 May at 23:59 PM, which mean in 6 May and a proceeding payment in 6 May. But still what did they do ? They took my payment in 4th May morning. Which is a complete thief and an unfair payment. I asked for a refund with all these information, but they just don't give it any attention and just want to keep the money stolen, without any shame ! They dare to force me to follow their course for a kind of great deal « Oh we offer you 6 free month trial in place of the refund ! ». But who would want the services of a scam company ? And who would pay even 1$ for even a lifetime service of this Scam Company?
Now I have seen that their are Facebook groups of people that have been scammed, and their are a lot of reviews given in website like trustpilot by other people. I am sure that the « good opinions » are fake.
I am asking refund as I haven't been clearly informed about the terms of the contract, as I was tricked by false advertising information in Facebook and as I never started one course. They know it and I have received e-mail and message telling me that I never attended to even the first class.
Since they are talking about the term of the contract, know that I agreed for a month trial, which they changed into 28 days, but I never even started it, and without speaking about the fact that it was supposed to start in 7 April. If we add 28 days, it was supposed to give me at least time to take the decision to unsubscribe until 5 May. But they took my money in the 4th May ( this while I was sending them an email explaining my situation and, naively, a special demand!). I ask for a refund of my 49,99 and a sanction against them.
Desired Outcome
I want the refond of the money taken unfairly from me (49,99), and an apology for the lost of time caused. Also I want the company to make it clear in the term of their advertising that it's not a month of trial but four week, and that even if we never started the programme they will fee us. I want also that the company make it clear that they DON'T send an e-mail 3 days before they charge, while they prétend to do this in their first e-mail send and in their prospectus (see the screenshot in attached pièce sent at the subscription to the free trial) ! I want them to stop lying and stealing the money of poor naive students !

I had previously enrolled for a free four week online class with the academy. I joined a Shaw Academy Trial which is supposed to end on June 2nd and then they will charge my card. I want to cancel and am not given any options.
I saw Shaw Academy's advertisement on Facebook. I wanted to use their trial, so I signed up for it by providing my credit card. They charged only $1 to my card probably just to validate my card. Upon visiting the site as a member, I immediately decided to cancel the service as I do not like it. I went to the website, membership page to cancel. Upon asking me 6 times if I really want to cancel it, they took me to this page where they ask me to call a phone number to cancel. I have tried calling that phone number everyday but no one answers that phone.
They claim to be an educator and a reputed one, why can't they just let me cancel my membership using their website. Now I am afraid they are going to charge my credit card on June 2nd. With no option to cancel how do I make sure that my credit card is not charged. Please find attached all the screenshots.
I tried reaching out to them using their web support to no avail. Only a scam artist would take your credit card and then not give you any options to cancel. If I am not able to cancel this week, my only option would be to cancel my credit card which I don't want to do.
Desired Outcome
Cancel my membership please and make it easy for others to cancel the membership so that they are not scammed.

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
We like so many businesses are encountering extreme challenges stemming from covid-19. The issues we face relate to staff challenges in all of our office locations including staff unable to attend work and also work from home.
This is compounded by a massive increase in student volumes given the sudden shock to the world with new levels of unemployment and significant amounts of people worried about their futures. This has put considerable strain on our teams in particular, the customer support.
We're sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience with Shaw Academy and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies.
No option to complete final assignment as per FAQ to gain my Professional Diploma.
Completed the Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management - I currently have a Premium Membership, and the FAQ states: "If you wish to complete the final assignment and receive an E-diploma there will be a 39.95 administration charge. There is no charge for Shaw Academy Premium members."
There is an option to take a 'final assessment' at the end of each module, at the cost of 29.99 each and receive an e-certificate for that module, but I can not find any option to complete an assessment for the E-diploma, which should be free due to my premium membership!
I contacted the support email about this (Support ID) and received a presumably automated email stating that they took the liberty of cancelling my account as that's what they presumed I wanted, but also granted 6 months free ? In no way does it address the query I had, nor provide any insight into how one is supposed to finish their diploma and receive a recognised QQI certificate (which is what has been advertised).
Desired Outcome
Clear explanation of steps as to how the QQI certified Professional Diploma is achieved for this course and the other courses I'm enrolled in, or a full refund.

The website would not let me login to my account, so I could not cancel my subscription and they kept charging me. Customer service is no help.
I sighed up for a free trial for Shaw Academy. It's quarantine time so I thought it was a good opportunity to sign up for their 4 weeks free graphic design class. Almost three weeks ago I tried to login to my account to cancel the subscription as I was unsatisfied with the class and did not want to continue. However, I tried to login with my email and password *** it told me my email was not in the system. I tried to reset my password *** see if that helped and I received the message that "something went wrong" and I should try again later. I tried every day, using all the emails and passwords could think of and trying to reset my password *** received the exact same response. I called customer service and was told that they were not receiving phone calls. I emailed multiple times and was told my email was not in the system so they could not help me. I had never before received an email from Shaw Academy, only text messages about my classes, so I couldn't prove that the email I had was the correct one. I responded with my name, phone number, and all the information they requested and never got a response. I emailed every other day for two weeks with no response and today was charged $40.00. Suffice to say I am livid. This company is a scam. It is irresponsible and unethically robbing artists like myself who are out of jobs and full of stress during this time. Their selfishness and this level of mishandling is illegal and shameful. I want my money refunded, my account and my subscription cancelled immediately, and an apology from Shaw Academy. I have attached screenshots of my emails and what the page showed me.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund of my money, a complete cancellation of my subscription, and an apology.

Signed up for 4 week trial period. At the 3rd week I began the cancellation process through the app, I called, Then I emailed. Was charged $70.
When You try to cancel before the 4 week trial period they try to make so you cannot get in touch with anyone. I signed up for a photography course which was similar to class I took already and is was not interesting. So after three weeks I called to cancel twice with a confirmation # no answer and I was unable to leave a message. I sent an email they sent me one back saying if there were any charges to my account I would receive a refund. That Monday I was charged $70 for something I didn't even want or enjoy. I send another email for them to say sorry we don't give refunds . This is not the time to mess with money for those like me whose small business is on hold because of the virus. No one has money to waste.

I had a charge come out of my account of $69.99 that I did not authorize. Last time I spoke with them I didn't authorize the $39 that was a accident!
! I am requesting a full refund for the full amount of $109.94 and you will also be hearing from my bank. Please do the right thing and refund my money. If that's not a option have your manager call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX and will talk further action for getting my money back!
Now when I had emailed them about this issue they sent me the SAME EMAIL OFFERING THE SAME STUF

That made me decide to just email them because I was getting the run around.
i am looking for a refund

I want to cancel my subscription!! I do not which to get any charges from a service I am not able to take. I do not wish to be contacted by this company after this issue is resolved.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I have already cancelled my subscription. I would like a refund of my money that they wrongly charged.
Dear Student,

I want out!
I would like Shaw Academy to cancel my subscription and not take any payments from my account. I would also like my account deleted and personal details removed from file.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
Thank you
Give me my refund
I have enrolled for the free course. On the date of 05/04/2020, and the academy charged me for the subscription $69.99 CAD. I cancelled immediately from that and contacted them, CSR gave me email address. I did email and first they said email is not recognized send us all proof of you account. I send them my account detail and now they are saying as per terms and condition you are not allow to get Refund. I mean What the F. It's written in your term and condition that I can cancel my membership and if you are using free trial you will be charged at the end of the month. Instead of proceed for my refund they are trying to convinced me for 3 and 6 month free. I am *** serious about this. If you want proceed for refund I will take legal action against your company. Request ID: #XXXXXXX.
I just want to say please be specific about your website. You are charging innocents for no reason.

I signed up for a free 30 day trial with Shaw Academy and cancelled within the timeframe stated, but was charged. I called again to cancel my trial but couldn't speak to anyone, only an automated voice message. I was again able to cancel my account, but was then charged again. I emailed to figure out what was going on, but they told me I didn't cancel my account, and that it had now been cancelled. I told them that I expect the charge to be refunded as I followed the instructions to cancel the trial within 30 days and then cancelled again after finding out they had failed to actually cancel my account the first time.
I would like the charge refunded.
Dear Student,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

My PayPal account was charged a sum of $34.99 on Sunday May 10th 2020 for a payment I am unaware of and do not approve off. I demand a refund.
I got a debit alert For a sum of $34.99 from my PayPal account for payment made to *** On Sunday 10th May 2020. The Invoice ID: XXXXXXXX.
I had previously enrolled for a free four week online class with the academy. I had no intention of making any payment because I am currently unemployed and just wanted to take advantage of the opportunity offered. I have been receiving series of email to make payments for certificates and to unlock new modules. All these emails I ignored because I had no intention to make any payments. I was surprised to suddenly see a deduction from my account. I am very displeased about this deduction and plead with the academy to kindly refund my money. I have cancelled all membership and no longer wish to undertake any course with the academy.
Thank you.
I will like Shaw academy to refund my $34.99.

Thank you so much Revdex.com for your help. I accept their response because have received an email from PayPal in respect of the refund.
Thank you
No option to complete final assignment as per FAQ to gain my Professional Diploma.
Clear explanation of steps as to how the QQI certified Professional Diploma is achieved for this course and the other courses I'm enrolled in, or a full refund.
Dear student,
Our support team has responded to your query on 12 May 2020.
Please revert for any clarifications.

I cancelled my trial period and received an email saying it was cancelled and yet they have taken £49.99 from my account.
£49.99 was taken from my account despite cancelling my trial - I would have assumed that upon cancellation you should not have kept my card details? You have now left me with no money in very difficult time a and I can't even get food for my children that was my weekly food money
I want the money refunded immediately

I want a refund of my money, a complete cancellation of my subscription, and an apology.
Dear Student,

I would like a refund of my $69.99 that was charged to my credit card on May 4, 2020. My free trial was over on May 1, 2020. The first time I contacted them about the cancellation was on April 25,2020.
