I signed up for 10 training sessions at their MLK site. After 8 sessions, my trainer left to take a different job. The owner refused to reimburse me for the remaining two sessions. Thieves...","neg-1

Review: I signed up for a month to month membership with snap fitness 01/07/13. On Feb 28th I was diagnosed with stage 4 renal failure. I put my membership on hold for the month. I then went up and cancelled membership. They said that would go into effect the following month. Since I had it auto charged to my card and auto pmt made from bank. I was dealing with health issues and appts and didn't check on auto pmts. I saw in Dec, they continued to charge me 59.95 per month for apr, may, june, jul, aug, and sept 1. I have gone to the location they said they would take care of and reverse. I emailed them. Returned to location again and was told again it would be taken care of but mgr was let go for making false entries into computer system. They now can not find any paperwork in their files for me as signing up or cancelling. They were able to bring it up on computer and have no notes or any reason as to why they stopped charging on 09/01. They should have stopped charging in May. They overcharged me for 5 months. I had dealt with [redacted]--emailed her all needed info. I also spoke with a man named [redacted] last week.Desired Settlement: I would like my discover card credited for the five months at 59.95, as they did not comply with agreement. They continued charging me and they are not doing anything to correct the problem. I have made several attempts. This is not right and not fair. I just can't understand how they can get away with this.

Review: This business continually calls my 12 year old son on his phone, while getting his voicemail they heard that his name was [redacted] and continues to call back with bogus appointments while using his name as a buddy type message. I have asked to be put on their do not call list three times with no results.Desired Settlement: I would like to speak with the owner to actually let him know how irritating it is to continuously receive these unwanted solicitations after being asked not to contact a minor

Thank you all for bringing this to my attention. As I advised [redacted] on the phone, we had a marketing firm [redacted] marketing out of ** doing a "sales blitz" for the gym. We had a inside salesman and of course their call center was generating foot traffic with the call center. We HAD used this firm several many times in the past with good reviews and success. This time was not so, there were many issues that were not up to what we had agreed upon. [redacted] (Desk Staff) was contacted by the father of the underage child and advised that his son was receiving sales calls from the gym. This was in fact the call center in ** calling on our behalf. [redacted] advised the onsite rep of the name and number and for the call center to take it off the calling list. Apparently that was not done. We as a company are very sorry for the disturbance, confusion and irritation that this has caused. The 10-12 week program that we entered with [redacted] was cut down to 2 weeks. The methods and judgement was not to our par. We are very sorry for the frustration, time and irritation this has caused. [redacted], General Manager

Review: On February 13th, 2014 I signed a contract at SNAP Fitness Harvey for personal training. The following is a synopsis of the situation at hand: On February 13th, 2014 I signed up with [redacted] for personal training. The agreement was 32 sessions at $25 a session for a total of $600 and that was for 3 months (so $200 a month). [redacted] couldn't start me that week so I started the following week on Feb. 19th and 21st. The following week I had to have a medical procedure done so he excused me for that week and I returned the next week on the March 5th, which is when I was told he would be quitting so I had my last training session on the 7th with him. On April 1st I had a training session with [redacted] and then on the 3rd she cancelled on me becuase she had court. On the 9th I trained with [redacted] and then she cancelled on me on the 11th, because she had to do something with her real estate agent. I then got a text message I believe the following Sunday telling me that she was canceling all of that week due to her moving. I texted her the next week asking her to make sure that they were not going to charge me on May 1st and also to tell her about my cruise on the 27th and never got a response back from her. On April 27th I went on a cruise for a week and when I came home I had a message from [redacted] about scheduling a appointment and was very confused on why she was trying to schedule me an appointment with her instead of [redacted] since no one tried to contact me to tell me that [redacted] quit, I also noticed that my bank account was short by $200 so I looked and sure enough SNAP Fitness took $200 out on May 1st that they should have never took out. My contract was suppose to end on April 1st.I have called corporate office with no help from them and I have never been contacted by the owner or the manager of the gym. On May 16th I received $400 of the $650 I was owed by SNAP Fitness and at this point I just want the $250 that is still owed to me. I had only 6 of the 32 sessions due to their staffing issues.Desired Settlement: I just want the $250 that is still owed to me.I paid a total of $800 (and was only suppose to pay $600). They broke contract by not having a trainer and also by taking an extra $200 out of my bank account without my consent.

Review: My snap location located in Harvey Louisiana has over draft my checking account for two months for a total of 500.00 without my consent. I have not had any success with contacting anyone with this problem since April 3, 2014. I am taking legal action as well as withdrawing my membership after being a faithful member for over a year.Desired Settlement: Refund for over drafts and membership fees for two months and pain and suffering

Review: I signed a one year contract beginning October 2012 with SNAP during a promotional period in which the first month was free. My account was immediately debited for $81.43 in October (such much for the advertisement of the first month free and was more than the dollar amount quoted). Anyway, one year later, I went in and signed paperwork cancelling the membership (had to cancel in September to be effective November 1st, with the understanding that SNAP was going to debit my account for October). Imagine my surprise when my account was debited for the month of November '13. I returned to Snap and spoke with the manager who informed me that I should/would receive a refund, but the owner was not in and had to wait for his accountant to handle. It has been 2 weeks and I have not been refunded. If my account is debited in December 2013 I will have fraudlent charges pressed against them.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for $86.30 (for the first month which should have been free and November 1, 2013 debit)

Regards,

Review: I was a member of Snap Fitness from November **, 2012 until August **, 2013 when I sent a written cancellation notice to the gym. When I signed up for the gym, I selected the option to allow the gym to process automatic monthly payments in the amount of $54.95. The monthly payment was made using my Visa Credit Card through JP Morgan Chase Bank. The expiration on the credit card was, and still remains to be, June, 2015. In early August, 2013 I was contacted by a debt collection agency alleging that I owed them approximately $250 in backed gym payments when, at that time, I had been current through June, 2013. I told them I had proof from my bank showing current payments. When I asked the agency to explain how I could be past-due in that amount, they explained to me that the credit card on file had expired. I informed them that it simply was not the case. They could not provide me with any information pertaining to the alleged debt - not even the last four digits of the credit card number on file or an executed contract with Snap Fitness. They also could not provide me with any billing statements showing the alleged debt. From August - September, 2013, I would be contacted at 8:59 p.m. several nights a week from the collection agency. I told them more than enough times that I had a current credit card on file with the gym. Regardless of my attempts to obtain information about the debt, it was denied to me. In September, 2013 I was contacted by [redacted] from the same debt collection agency alleging, once again, that I owed them over $200 but would settle for $120. I have asked in writing and over the phone for a copy of the executed contract and billing statements. Nothing has ever been provided to me, yet he and his associate [redacted], continue to contact me despite not being legally allowed to do this. I have told them to cease contacting me unless they can provide me with proof of the debt, but they continue. They have sent me a "contract" to sign, which didn't even have the correct gym listed in it. I brought this to their attention back in September, but they have yet to even send an updated contract. I have left several messages for the owner of Snap Fitness, "[redacted]," and none of them have been returned.Desired Settlement: 1. I want the collection agency to stop contacting me regarding this matter; 2. I want this matter to be closed; 3. I want a formal written letter from Snap Fitness stating that I do not owe them anything as a result of their own accounting errors; 4. I want a written apology from Snap Fitness.

Sincerely,

Review: Nearly five years ago I signed up for a trial offer, as I was in the neighborhood on a work assignment. After a few visits to the location, I decided the environment was not what I had hoped and joined Tropical Fitness. I was assured that membership was cancelled, was no longer billed and turned in my swipe card. However, I received a call today stating I owe the establishment $200! When I told the gentleman on the phone that this was not the case, he told me that I had to submit cancellation in writing in order to truly forfeit my membership which was NEVER disclosed at the membership sign up.Desired Settlement: Please remove any alleged charges that are owed to Snap Fitness , as I had cancelled and notify your collection agency that this is not a valid account.

Sincerely,

Review: I have been a member for quite sometime. However for the last 6 mo or so I could not get there due to hectic schedule. I did try to in around 3:30am once but they don't have senors in the back of the facility and I guess I was on the machine a little to long and the facility must of thought I was gone and the facility shout down all the lights and t.v. Needless to say; it was a bad experience. This months payment $49.95 came out of my checking yesterday; I cancelled my membership today and I was told they have to take out next months payment too. I can understand this month, but next month is taking advantage of me. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I do not want next month fee to be taken out of my checking!

Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted].

This is in reference to your recent letter regarding your experience at Snap Fitness of Mars. I am sorry you had a less than satisfactory experience. Please allow me to address your concerns.

In regard to the lights going out when you were in the back of the facility, our lights are on multiple sensors. If there is no or little activity in the club in a 15 minute period, the applicable bank of lights will go out. If you were the only member working out at 3:30AM when this occurred, that may be the reason. Our sensors cover the majority of the space, but there are pockets that may not be covered. Please know that since we received your letter, we have made some adjustments in hopes to prevent this from reoccurring.

In regard to the TV turning off, the TVs are not on sensors. They can only be turned off if a member uses the remote control, or perhaps if a power outage would occur. Again, I am sorry the TV turned off during your workout

Because our hope is for all members to enjoy our facility and yours was a less than satisfactory experience, I am waiving our 30 day cancel policy. A refund has been processed in the amount of $39.95, which was the amount of your last payment as verified by the attached receipt.

Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns.

Review: I have been trying to contact this gym for about a month now to cancel my membership with no success. Only once have I gotten someone on the phone and he told me he could not help and that I needed to call back and leave a message. The only problem is their voicemail has been full this entire time. I have also tried contacting them by email.Desired Settlement: Cancellation of membership before the first of next month.

[redacted] from the business confirmed with Revdex.com that this has been canceled.

Review: We were members of snap fitness over 3 years ago(2011)and cancelled our membership, which, stopped the EFT from our account for our monthly membership fees to this gym. I was contacted 7/29/14 by a third party contracted by a representative from snap fitness that claimed that I owe them over 300.00. There was never an agreement with this company that allowed fees or dues to accrue without having a valid account to withdrawal from, furthermore, there was never an attempt prior to this evening to collect or notify that a debt was accumulating. When we cancelled our member ship- in accordance with company policy being in writing and outside one month of the renewal date, the funds stopped leaving our account, and we were not granted access to the facility. We believe that this company acted in with a deliberate indifference to the fact that a bill was being accrued and they were the only party with knowledge of their own error in their control procedures when an account is terminated.Desired Settlement: Withdraw of collection of a debt that was not earned by this company. Unlawful enrichment in which snap fitness continued to charge us for a service outside of the original contract that we entered in to in which we did not have access to usage.

Business

Response:

JRG Fitness Operations, LLC purchased the SNAP Fitness location in Altoona in 2012 (after this customer was no longer a member). Our purchase included all dues still owed to the business. The only records we have from the previous owner regarding accounts were the records left in the Point of Sale system, which did not include proper termination of the account. We do recognize, however, that human error certainly could have played a part, so we will zero out the account, waive any past amount due and notify our collection agency of the change.

Review: I signed up for a one year membership with this gym. I have not been able to access the gym for 3 weeks -the card reader does not work. I have left more than 7 voicemails - have not had a single response. I emailed the manager, he informed me that the card reader was having some issue. Then as of yesterday the manager informed me via email that he is no longer with the company. The company keeps charging me money for annual membership and monthly fees. I have been going to the gym during the staffed hours and can't seem to find anyone who works there. This is a scam, I met several folks waiting outside the front door trying to access the gym. I have tried emailing the company, the owner does not care. How can we potentially allow a business practice as unethical this place is to exist. Please help me get in touch with the owner of this company - so he can send me my refund. Thank you.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Refund for the full cost. Explanation for this kind of unethical practice - no one is there during the staffed hours. Scamming people of their money. I have driven every single day to find someone who works there and unfortunately every time I drive, I am wasting gas and I need to be compensated for my time, gas and medically I am required to exercise - which this being the only place close by has denied us of that rights too.

Review: I became a member of this gym in mid 2013 for a monthly rate of $29.95 and had it taken out auto-pay through my visa bank card. Late 2013 I recieved a letter stating it would go up $10 monthly and I did not see the value as I did not have the time to go as often so I decided to cancel my membership. I tried several times to call the dover and smyrna locations and could never reach a representative. I left messages at each location stating I wanted to cancel my membership with my name and phone number since I was not getting any replies to my messages. I was under the impression that it was canceled because I did not notice it taken out ( it turns out it was) monthly and I did not renew the new year ( 2014). Yesterday (5/11/15) I recieved a call from snap fitness saying my payment for the month was denied. I was extremely surprised to hear I was still getting charged and when I brought this to the attention of the representative, they informed me to cancel could only be done through written request or email. I asked them to email me (so I had the right email, I recall before I could not find the email address before to cancel), gave them my email address, verified the email address, and still have not yet recieved an email. Hours later, I found a corporate home email of snap fitness and sent my concern to them in which I did receive an automated email back stating that it would be directed to the proper department and I will hear back. I have not heard back from them either.

I have not visited this gym since late 2013 and have tried to cancel on several occasions but I have no way to "properly cancel". It seems they are trying to make it outlandishly difficult to cancel!Desired Settlement: I want my membership to be canceled and refunded 1 year of membership as I have not visited any snap fitness location since late 2013. I would have canceled "properly" if I was able to reach a representative in order to do so.
