As with many others complaints with this company we placed an order from Abe's of Maine based on their website price of $for a Tamron 150-mm lens The order was accepted but then they asked us to call about placing the order A person named Jeff S [redacted] then called and I let him talk to my wife since he said we could buy a "retail package" Basically it amounted to lens caps, a hood, a bag and bracket for tripod We got a order confirmation and receipt all based on the same order number with the $ We never were provided a price on the "retail package" until it showed up on our credit card for $ One can purchase all the "retail package" items for less than $ I feel this practice of calling to confirm the price and then charge extra for items that appear on the original offer for $deceptive I immediately contacted my credit card company to file a complaint This was never the practice at the old Abe's of Maine You got what was offered on line Be

I ordered a camera online and received an email asking me to contact Abe's to confirm my orderAfter countless phone calls, I was finally able to contact a personNo one answers their customer service numberI was told that the product I ordered, was no longer available anywhere and they suggested that I upgrade to a more expensive product which I didI then searched [redacted] , and found the product that was "unavailable", and the upgraded product at a significantly lower priceI contacted Abe's again, and was told that [redacted] had inferior products with no warrantyI plan to return the product when it arrives, and dispute the charge on my credit cardI looked on a Consumer Affairs site and found similar complaints as mineApparently they Practice a 'Bait and Switch" scam on a regular basisThe representative I spoke with is Jeff S [redacted]

On June 20th Abe’s of Maine advertised a Canon 6D camera body on the internet $1,indicating it normally retailed for $1, I ordered it, using a credit card I received an email confirmation for # [redacted] which indicated the order will take 1-days to process Later that day I received a call from a salesman there trying to sell me batteries for the camera for an increase in the price by more than $ (I already have a Canon 6D which is broken I seem to recall it came with batteries) I declined to buy more batteries Later that day I received another call from a woman at NJ number [redacted] She asked me when I needed the camera I said that is an odd question I am in no hurry, but as soon as practical She said it would be at least weeks before they would be able to ship one to me, unless I wanted a US version I said I didn’t really care what version, they are all made in Japan She said the US version would be $more I told her I had

Nikon D SLR digital camera advertised as "import factory fresh" for a good price An hour after ordering online, I get a call from a sales rep at Abe's informing me that my selection is an import, with a non-english menu, no warranty and a lower quality battery I was offered a english menu with a warranty and a better battery for about $more I balked and the rep found a "coupon" to reduce the price NONE of this information was listed in the advertisement Unethical business - STAY AWAY!!!!!

I placed an order for a very specific Samsung 75" TV that I have purchased a number of times over the past couple years from various retailers -- a Samsung 75J75" Smart LED TVI was having the unit shipped to a different office and received an e-mail from "Jeff **" in their "customer service" department to confirm the orderWhile I was on the phone he said, "Are you sure you want the commercial model made in China and not the consumer model made in Mexico?" Of course the consumer model was "better" and was roughly $more than the model I bought ($1579) I checked my previous order and the model was exactly the same, so I called back and he basically said, "Do more research and call us back." I told him to just cancel the order because I didn't appreciate the attitudeI'll end up paying more for it now but at least it will come from a reputable sourceI highly doubt that Samsung makes different versions of the same TV with the exact same part number, and I'm also curious why if there's a different one available their website doesn't show itSteer clear
