Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I have no idea where you are getting your information. When [redacted] called me after I left a bad review, he told me he would sell me the tv at $250 above advertised price. I accepted that offer and told him I would notify the BBB that the case is resolved when the TV arrives, which it has NOT.The shipper called and is not scheduled to deliver until AFTER christmas. So whatever report you are seeing that says it was delivered inside and inspected is erroneous. It was never delivered, and never inspected.When the TV arrives, I will notify the BBB. This matter has been referred to the NJAG's office. There are multiple complaints describing a similar modus operandi for this retailer doing business as Abe's of Maine on the internet, and the hope of this consumer is that other consumers will also report their bait 'n switch experiences with Abe's of Maine so that the AG might use regulatory and civil law not available to the BBB. For the benefit of the reader of this complaint and the unscrupulous retailer's latest response to it, the order was, in fact, canceled, but by the retailer not the consumer. The consumer complainant received confirmation of the order but then got a phone call two days later, indicating that the order would not be honored without now paying a $1000 upgrade fee for the "set you really want" or, in the alternative, a "mandatory $400 freight insurance surcharge. The retailer of record canceled the order and told the consumer to "call back if (he) changed his mind" and was willing to pay for the upgrade or would be willing to pay for the freight insurance. Later, as the history will indicate, the retailer raised the advertised price on the television. The retailer later offered, in these communications through the BBB, to sell the television to the complainant at the new advertised price but expressly claimed that they could not override the system to sell it at the original order price now that the original order had been canceled by the retailer. More recently, as this chain of communication indicates, they offered to sell the television at the original price by overriding the price in the system! Veracity is not the strong suit for Abe's of Maine, not even in official correspondence through the BBB. One day they'd love to honor the original price but just can't because the new price can't be overridden. Two weeks later, and after a complaint with the AG was filed, they say, sure, we can override the system and sell it to him at the original price. Readers of this complaint can review the correspondence can make their own judgments about the business dba Abe's of Maine. I ask the BBB to leave the complaint open so that other potential customers might be saved from falling prey to the bait-and-switch tactics used by Abe's of Maine. Regards, [redacted] ***

I purchased a Microwave GE Profile Advantium # [redacted] Order [redacted] from Abe's of Maine on 1/12/along with a year extended warranty and was told at that time by the salesman that sold me the microwave and warranty that it was full coverage till the warranty expired in 1/12/ I contacted the warranty company and was told they would not repair or replace the oven and to contact the place of purchaseSo I did and they told me it was too long ago that I purchased and there was nothing they would doI told them I was going to contact Revdex.com and his comment was all this for $772.72, GOOD LUCK

We shipped the customer a USA product which he can verify with Canon USAThe customer took the camera out of the country this is not our faultHad the camera been in the US we would have sent him a prepaid label to return the the unit however he removed the camera from the address we shipped toIt seems like based on the customer response he is just trying to receive merchandise for free and even if we would refund him the $he is still not satisfied

Abe’s of Maine is a BAIT AND switch companyI ordered a Sigma 24mm Art Lens from themA few days later I get a call to verify my purchaseI was told that I had ordered the international version of the lens and it may not work for my cameraTheir website makes absolutely no mention if thisI was also told that this version does include lens caps or lens hood, which on their wensite are listed as being includedI said I wanted the US version of the lensI bery specifically asked for thatI paid an additional $for the upgrade to the US version When the lens arrived the paperwork in the box indicated it was not the US versionI checked the serial number with Sigma and it was confirmed that the lens I was shipped was not an official US version of the lens I have sent emails over the course about a week and a half and have zero response from the company This is pure fraud and these people deserve to be prosecuted for this fraud My advice is that if you bought something from them, I would recommend checking the serial number to verify if it is a US version of the productIf it is not then you have no warranty Stay away from Abe’s of Maine

“Searched for a Cyber Monday deal, had a great deal from Am@zon, then happened on AbesOfMaine selling for lessI lived in NJ for a while and remembered the local ads from the brick and mortar storeDon't recall specifically if I ever stopped by (10+ years ago)So based on brand name recognition, I pulled the triggerReceived an email the next day as it was 10pm PST that I placed the order, from Jeff asking me to call to confirmKnowing the bait and switch routine, I still could not believe the brand name would do thisexchanged few pleasantries Jeff: Just wanted to confirm you want the International model? Me: Why would I order the international model, and have it shipped to Los Angeles?
