I purchased an extended warranty for a very expensive TV from *** in February 2018. While the TV was still under ***'s warranty, I tried to file a claim for a small issue (which was denied). Fast forward to May 2020 and my TV doesn't even turn on. I filed a claim (***) for this issue with Square Trade and pretty much immediately was written off due to the first claim I made with *** (for an unrelated cosmetic issue). The specialist that I spoke with was very dismissive of my issue (TV not even turning on) and told me the warranty was null and void from my claim with *** and said it was up to them to give me my money back, more than two years after purchasing the TV.
What I've learned from this situation is that purchasing a warranty from Square Trade is a waste of time and money. I fully believe that they try their absolute hardest to deny any sort of claim.
We apologize for any dissatisfaction the consumer experienced.SquareTrade's protection plans are extended warranties designed to provide peace of mind by protecting against mechanical and electrical failures when the manufacturer's warranty has expired, or the manufacturer cannot assist you during their warranty period. However, our warranties do not protect against physical damages unless an ADH plan was offered and purchased. If the consumer has experienced physical damage to their device at any time, their warranty is no longer valid, and we will not proceed with a claim. The problem the consumer initially reported indicates that there has been physical damage, which was denied by ***. Our evaluation falls within the same parameters, which are why we will not file a claim. We have reached out to the consumer to review this matter in case we can provide additional support.
I am waiting for a replacement TV.The customer service was excellent and I never had any problems getting warranty service."***".
Customer Service person friendly and helpful. Patient while I found receipt numbers on my phone of picture of *** receipt
Great company, would use them again in the future. Quick service, received check refund within a week.
Highly recommend.
Didn't get back the full item price, item cost me $49.99 and I got $42.65 back, but I had had my item for 2 years, so I guess they prorate. Square trade insurance cost me $1.67 for a 4 yr warranty, so I'm happy with what I got back, considering I had item for 2 yrs, plus I didn't have to send broken item back, which was great, saved me a trip to the post office, especially now with Covid 19 and being in lockdown.
I had a computer battery issue and it required contact with the manufacture and working direct with square Trade. I was skeptical at first but after contacting them, I was pleasantly surprised. The technician from Square Trade took the time to review what had happened, what was going to happen and what I needed to do to conclude the claim transaction. The longest delay was with the manufacturer. It took several weeks for them to ship the new battery. Square Trade was very responsive and their part took very little time, very little paper work and concluded with them issuing me a check for the replacement battery very timely. The technician I dealt with was
named ***. An excellent technician.
I Purchased a protection plan from Square Trade, Inc. for a tablet I had purchased through Amazon. I ended up getting a different tablet and no longer needed the protection plan. I canceled the plan and requested a full refund the very next day before anything had shipped. However I was still charged $27.43 for the plan. I have been emailing Square Trade since the 2nd of May, 2020. As of this day (May 25, 2020) I have not received my refund after been promised an initial 3 to 5 days for my refund to be returned. Please help!!?? I am getting the run around and no refund. All I want is my money $27.43 back in my account.
We apologize for any issues you experienced with your warranty cancellation.
Generally, within 30 days of the item purchase, cancellation and refund are often handled by most resellers. We have processed the cancellation of the consumer's warranty and refunded their warranty cost to the Amazon account.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely,
***
I have received my refund from the business, however it should NEVER take 30 days to process a refund especially when the business is in the United States. TWO weeks should be the maximum time.
We have a printer that is beginning to malfunction which is under a 4 year warranty from SquareTrade. Called SquareTrade and was told that if the cost to repair is greater than the cost of the printer, they would send a new printer to us. We contacted the appropriate Canon accredited repair shop and they told us that the cost of diagnostic would be $128.00, but that of the number of things that could be wrong with the printer, all would cost more than the cost of the printer. Called SquareTrade back, they said we would have to pay the $128.00 and they would not cover the diagnostic cost at all, even when we told them what the accredited repair shop told us. Their response was "yes, you will not be refunded for the diagnostic fee". This is their resolution after being on the phone with Canon, SquareTrade, and the repair shop for 4 hours, all hindering the amount of work that can be accomplished. The warranty was purchased in the belief if we have issues, the unit would either be fixed or replaced. Now, neither of those options have been addressed and we continue to have issues witha printer that is still under warranty, but the company refused to honor what has already been paid for.
We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with us. SquareTrade does our best to provide our customers with quick, hassle-free service by offering various resolution options. These may vary depending on your device, and the issue reported. Some may also require further action on the customer’s end. In many cases, customers can have their device repaired locally the same day as filing a claim. In the event, the item can not be repaired, or repair cost exceeds 85% of items cost, we will move to an alternate resolution.Reviewing the account, I do see we were able to move forward with an alternate satisfactory resolution.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. The company agreed to refund me the entire printer purchase price. Thank you Revdex.com. I truly appreciate everything you do for consumers like me.
Sincerely
I think that the warranty is pretty much a waste. Maybe it depends on what you purchase, but I purchased a children's tablet and was told that the warranty would cover everything. Once I purchased the product and needed the warranty because of a cracked screen, I was told that it didn't cover that. What's the purpose of buying an extended warranty for a kid's tablet? Isn't that the most likely cause that it may be dropped??
I purchased a 5 warranty for my tv back in 2016. I created my account online and sent in a copy of my receipt as requested to be added to my account. I received an email (thank goodness I still have it) that stated they received my receipt and it’s been added to my account. It had my warranty number listed on it. My tv is having some issues and I remembered I have a warranty that I purchased for it so I went online to login to my account to check and see if I was still covered and I am until 2021. When I looked at my coverage it was showing there was no receipt listed on my account. I reached out to the chat representative and she informed me she did see the email one of the team members sent stating it was added to my account but unfortunately she doesn’t know what happened and I would have to resubmit it. I explained to her I have no idea where that receipt is because it was 4 years ago and even if I had it, it would not be visible (receipts do no last that long). I tried explaining that it was no fault of mine especially since I have the email confirming my receipt was added to my account. The point of being able to do that is so your receipt can stay on file. I was told there was nothing that can be done but I purchased a warranty and have confirmation that I did exactly what I was supposed to do to ensure my coverage. We have warranties with square trade for other items under my husband’s name but now I’m wondering if we are actually covered
We apologize for any difficulty you experienced with your claim. Squaretrade requires a proof of purchase for almost all warranties we have on file, as we need to be sure our warranty coverage corresponds with your product. We require specific information to be listed on these receipts, such as your item description, price of purchase, and the date of sale. We understand you experienced difficulty with the receipt for this product. One of our specialists will be reaching out to further assist with processing a claim on your TV.
This was an Amazon online purchase, Within the purchase I purchased an extended warranty written by Square Trade. The product stopped working so I filed a claim with Square Trade, online, and they reply each time I file claiming that some part of the purchase receipt is not correct. The documents filed are a forward of their receipt, a copy in format requested, (PDF), and all include all requested information: ie: Date, Price, Item description, even a pic of the item. I am filing this complaint because I have assessed this as a deliberate act to burden the claim process, and discourage the buyer.
We apologize for any difficulties the consumer has experienced. Our goal is to provide our consumers with efficient and effective resolutions. We do our best to make the consumer's experience as hassle-free as possible. However, there are necessary actions consumers must take to help us move their claims forward, such as submitting a receipt of purchase in this case. We require receipts to verify essential details that affect the protection plan, such as the item's price, date of purchase, and serial/IMEI numbers when applicable. Consumers are free to submit their receipts at any point before a claim, and we always recommend uploading them within a week of purchasing the item.We understand the consumer has submitted documentation of his purchase, so we have reached out to the consumer to provide additional support with completing their claim.
Very efficient and friendly. Fast on replacements. Will keep buying square trade.
The warranty works. Although first file wasn't successful through electronically but when I discussed with customer support rep., it resolved and processed a reimbursement fully because same amount money can't buy a same product. The support rep was friendly and understandably. Over all, satisfy this warranty as the it promised.
Square Trade did a great job living up to the warranty on my granddaughter's bike. I have used them before for other purchased items and have never been disappointed. I have probably only had to file claims three times out of probably 20 purchases, but they were extremely responsive and took care of business immediately. I will continue to purchase the Square Trade option on items I purchase.
The vendors that sell this product don't know what they mean.
Quick to answer any issues and it didnt take a long time to receive my refund money.
Filing the claim was super easy and the response time was fast.
On-line claim filing is awkward and time consuming. Had to bounce around multiple times before successfully completing a claim, multiple e-mails each time requesting additional info which should have been done one time so all info could be submitted as required.
Once claim completed the process was very smooth and the solution to my issues promptly handled to my satisfaction.
Yes, I would recommend this coverage to others.
Fast and helpful. Turned in my claim, had my refund within 5 days.
Rapid response and good coverage. Will use their services on future purchases.
