I called the company this morning to file a claim for my son's bicycle. Unfortunately he fell and the the brakes on the handle bars broke off. You can tell that the bike is poorly made. Anyways, I wanted to get the bike fixed since I paid for a warranty. I was told that I did not CHOOSE the accidental warranty therefore the bike is only covered for mechanical and electrical issues. There was not option as to which warranty plan I wanted. I would say it is mechanical because there is no way a bike falling over should have broke so easily. I called the manufacturing company since it is under a year and they said that they only cover parts.
We're very sorry that we were unable to process your claim. SquareTrade offers two types of plans: Standard and Accidental. The first covers mechanical and electrical failures that occur during regular use of the item, and the second covers the same issues as well as any accidental drops or liquid contact. However, some things are not eligible for both plans.Again, our sincerest apologies for this. At this time, we have made an exception to assist the consumer. We have reached out to provide a satisfactory resolution for both parties.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, it is still miss leading and unfair to any consumers in the future to have to go through this.
Sincerely
It was a process filing the claim and taking it to get checked out. The place I took my product to said it couldn't be repaired. Sent the paperwork in and Square Trade said send them the product. We mailed it out on a Monday and the following Monday it was back to me working. They replaced the battery and ran it through some test. Works great again and hope it last a while longer.
No problems. Quick resolution. Will use them again. Highly recommend them.
I purchased a Dell Inspiron 3567 Laptop on E bay. I purchased a 2 years Squaretrade Warranty from ***. My computer had problems with the electrical cord. I sent it in to be repaired and they had the computer for 3 weeks and said it costs more for the repair than the computer is worth. I spent $242.77 cents for te computer and $69.99 on a 2 year Square Trade warranty. I purchased the Laptop in MArch of 2019. I was refunded the $242.77 dollars for the Laptop but not the $69.99 dollars for the 2 year warranty. I didn't want a refund but another Dell Inspiron 3567 Laptop.
We're very sorry for any issues encountered during the claim process. SquareTrade offers various resolutions for each claim. These are determined based on the issue with the device and item price. In some cases, it may be more economical to replace instead of repairing an item. If we are unable to locate a comparable model replacement device through our vendors, we will move to an alternative resolution. In the event of a payout that concludes the warranty service and the warranty cost is not refunded as SquareTrade has rendered service to provide a reimbursement so a functional item can be purchased. At this time, we are unable to provide any additional reimbursements as the consumer has been granted compensation for the item cost.
My Fitbit Versa would not hold a charge after swimming with it. The device is advertised to be able to swim with it. After swimming with it I would have to charge it every 10-12 hours. Typically it is charged every 4-5 days. I had purchsed it through Amazon as well as purchased an extended warranty through SquareTrade for the fitness device. I filed a claim to have my device fixed. The process was burdensome. On 1/31/2020 I called the 1-800 number provided in the e-mail from the original warranty purchase. When I spoke with someone at that number, they gave me another number to call. I called that number and I was sent an e-mail with a link to fill out the claim. I filled out the claim and it was promptly denied as the extended warranty does not cover "spills." I had to call them back and explain the device failure was due to normal wear and tear in the course of advertised activities. At which point, they went ahead and approved the device for repair. I sent the device to them on 2/14/2020. It was promptly returned 2/21/2020 due to the device not being sent with the charger. This was my fault. The paperwork included with the return indicated that the claim had been closed and I could call when I received my item to re-start the process. I called 2/24/2020 to re-open my claim. At which point I was informed that nothing could be done without the serial number. I did not save the original packaging. And the serial number I assume would be in the device; however, the device cannot be charged to retrieve the serial number. I'm unable to get the serial number. At which point I was told I should contact Fitbit for that information (which I have done). They will not continue my claim without that information. My complaint is that they have given me the run around from the start. And now they refuse to process the claim without the serial number when that information was not required for the first claim. I just want my device back and feel that the process for this has been anything but "square."
We apologize for any frustration caused by your recent claim.SquareTrade uses certified technicians to complete all repairs, and we ensure to perform an extensive diagnostic test to confirm functionality before returning the equipment to the customer. We also provide a rework period following each mail-in repair as a guarantee on the work done for any failures that occur after the claim is completed. Again, we genuinely apologize for any trouble you've had thus far. Reviewing your account, we see a claim a has been approved. We hope the remainder of your claim experience is satisfactory.

They were very punctual in there follow up on the claim that I submitted and I had my check within 2 to 3 days upon speaking with a representative. Well worth the few dollars I paid to cover my product!
AMAZON BUYERS – BEWARE OF SQUARETRADE WARRANTIES!!!!
We have purchased many warranties from SquareTrade, mainly for electronics items. The first time we had the need to actually use a warranty from SquareTrade was for a LinkSys EA9300 router, which stopped working approximately one month after the manufacturer's warranty expired. No problem, or so we thought, because we purchased a 4-year extended warranty from SquareTrade. SquareTrade is real good about saying they will replace or repair a faulty item and they also have a five day service guarantee in order to do it (not including shipping time). The item was bought through Amazon in November 2018. The router stopped broadcasting wireless signal in January, 2020. Contacted LinkSys first, but of course, they would do nothing to support their product. Knowing we had a 4-year extended warranty, we contacted SquareTrade. After buying many items from Amazon and having no trouble returning them when needed, we expected similar treatment from the Warranty Company that Jeff Bezos and Amazon chose to affiliate themselves with. However, when we really learned about SquareTrade, we are simply amazed that Jeff Bezos and Amazon would use a company that is the exact opposite when it comes to customer service.
SquareTrade offered one solution – they wanted us to bring the router to a local repair shop for repair and pay for the repair. What??? The rep said that they would surely then reimburse us, minus any deductibles of course. The rep would not say how much they would pay for repairs or what the deductible is. So, we are supposed to bring the $200 router in for repairs, which I am sure would be close to $200, if not more, and then try to get SquareTrade to cough up the reimbursement. We said that was not acceptable and the rep said that if we look at the warranty, we would see that it is to SquareTrade’s discretion how to handle any claim. So basically, we are out of luck and take it or leave it.
Then we started to look into SquareTrade…
All you would have to do is look at the SquareTrade (located in San Francisco) reviews on Yelp or the Consumer Affairs site…1000’s of 1 or 2 star reviews…1000’s of horror stories. The only higher reviews were from people who changed their review rating after SquareTrade finally did something to make the situation right, but these are far and few between. It seems like SquareTrade is another on of those warranty/insurance companies that incentives their employees to deny claims. They certainly don’t try to help with claims. Make sure you look at the real reviews, not the 2 or 3 fake ones they promote at the top.
So we are left with a non-working router and a scam warranty company. That will be the last time we buy any electronics through Amazon, or anything that needs a warranty for that matter. So AMAZON BUYERS BEWARE OF SQUARETRADE!!!
In fact, it just makes Amazon seem like a sleazy operation using a company like SquareTrade to rip their customers off. So we actually will be trying not to buy anything from AMAZON again and will make our purchases elsewhere in the future.
ALSO BEWARE THAT WALMART AND NEWEGG USE SQUARETRADE AS WELL!!!
Square trade honored my accident warranty, acted promptly ,repaired and returned my computer in record time.
It was a very easy process to make a claim for my defective product. The check was received within a few days.
I was highly impressed by the speedy response and the time to replace my TV.
Highly recommended.
I think that Square Trade has become a company that has become a ripoff as far as processing individual's claims. I've been a Square Trade customer and never have I encountered that amount of run around and stories that I have gotten in the past three days to get an iPhone claim processed (mind you, the claim still has not finished processing, it is now awaiting a "review" to determine what the next course of action is going to be.
I recently purchased the "Family Plan" and ending having to file a complain on 2/20/2020 because my daughter's iPhone had stopped working. Well three days later I am no closer to getting the claim aprroved/processed. I have spoken to Square Trade employees over the past three days and every time a new requirement has been added to get my claim process and now it il take at least another two "business days" to get an answer from Square Trade on if they are going to repair or replace my phone. Every time I call Square Trade that's a new form or action required to supposedly to get my claim processed. It's now three days without a phone and still getting the run around from Square Trade.
I've been a Square Trade customer for more than eight years and have never encountered any excuses or issues in getting a claim processed. I've been recommending Square Trade to friends and family but at this point would NEVER recommend or advise anyone to purchase a Square Trade plan. My belief is that the Family Plan was implemented but now it's a deceptive process to process claims on phones that have been added that are not necessarily new when added to their "Family Plan".
I will NEVER purchase another Square Trade warranty plan.

Lost my refund, I had to call multiple times to get satisfaction. Satisfied but just barely.
Square Trade provided excellent Support in terms of communication, follow-through, and reimbursement to Warranty a product that failed under the terms of contract period.
Awesome to have several options. I opted for the e cash refund and turned around and purchased the same item the same day! Quick easy and avoid the long lines!
SquareTrade is awesome! I've always received exceptional service every time I have had to contact them, for questions and/or to file a claim. The claim process is very straight forward. The best advice I can give anyone after you purchase the warranty is to 1) upload a copy of the receipt, 2) enter the serial number, 3) rename the warranty to whatever it covers. This will save you a lot of time later, should you need to file a claim.
I know that a lot of "experts" say that purchasing an extended warranty is essentially wasting money, which is true if whatever you buy never has an issue. Nowadays, I don't think things are made to last. (And maybe I'm a little accident-prone too.) I always get a SquareTrade warranty on my Kindles, small kitchen appliances, laptops, tablets, and our cell phones. We also got one for our LCD wide screen TV and our dehumidifier.
I've had to place claims on two Kindles, an air fryer, a netbook, and an iPad Pro. Most of the items were non-repairable and I received my purchase price back within a few days. With my iPad Pro, they sent me a shipping label and I was able to send it in to be repaired as it was just the charge port that needed to be replaced. My air fryer recently died out-of-the-blue. I'd had it awhile and the thought came to me to check to see if I'd bought a SquareTrade warranty for it. I DID! The warranty was due to expire 12 days from the date the air fryer died! Once I received my claim check, I was able to buy a new air fryer.
To me, it seems that any bad reviews are by people who 1) aren't following the instructions provided to them from SquareTrade, 2) don't realize what type of warranty they purchased, or 3) assume the warranty covers lost or stolen items.
Very fast response and claim was handled quickly and efficiently. Great company
Great company. Took care of my claim very quickly. I would highly recommend this company for your insurance needs.
Super easy to make a claim and ship it at fed ex with the prepaid label. Sent out and came back in about a weeks time. Will buy again in the future.
Great service. Fast response time. I will be using again. Fast resolution. I love it.
Receiving my replacement phone was extremely fast, unfortunately programming the phone has become a major problem. It appears there are different versions for programming.
