I had purchased Square Trade on some purchases, but not on others, thinking I probably would never need it. Then when I DID need it with a large-format printer issue--thankfully--I had chosen their coverage. Their online claim-filing process was easy with every step explained and guided. I described in detail the apparent mechanical failure of an internal part (print head/ink cartridge carrier) and the process of first contacting the original seller, then the manufacturer. As with most printers, the original price paid is less than the cost of shipping and repair. Within a couple of days I received an email asking if I would agree to receiving payment-in-full for the original cost of the printer. I could not have been more pleased. Thanks to Square Trades' customer service I now have a new printer and my graphic design business is now functioning up-to-speed.
Great service! Third time using square trade warranty . Highly recommend.
Resolved with in minutes!!! Customer was great and I will use again
Square Trade TV coverage website: "Most new purchases come with a manufacturer’s warranty that cover defects due to parts or workmanship.Like other extended warranties, SquareTrade coverage only begins when the manufacturer’s warranty ends (typically up to one year from the date of purchase). If there’s an issue with your item while the original warranty is still active, your claim will be referred to the manufacturer. Alternately, if your plan includes Accident Protection, SquareTrade covers your item from day one."
Newegg checkout with SquareTrade info box: "TV Protection Plan

What my contract states:

In two places it states that the additional protection through SquareTrade starts when the manufacturer's warranty ends, but I received a different policy. I called SquareTrade to inquire and they told me it starts from day one to cover things the manufacturer does not cover, like power surges. I called Sony to ask if they covered power surges and they said they cannot know if a power surge caused the TV to not work, so they just send someone out to fix it, without question. The rep I talked to at Sony said he has never seen a claim rejected for a power surge. SquareTrade will not verbally acknowledge that what it says on their website for TV coverage differs from what I received. I did not get a policy that begins when the manufacturer warranty ends. I talked to several people in their customer service, and even to their bosses. They all said the same thing, like it's normal for people to call with this complaint. I told them I want my start date to begin when the manufacturer's warranty ends and they said they would not do that. When I stated that I wanted what is stated on their website, they refused. I am completely blown away with how I did my best to understand how the protection worked, received something different, and no one is willing to do anything about it. Everyone I spoke with at SquaTrade tried to make me believe I was not understanding what I read and how it really works. No one would acknowledge that what I received was different from what is advertised in more than one place.
SquareTrade protection plans are extended warranties that cover the consumers beyond the manufacturer's warranty period to ensure there are no gaps in coverage and continues after their year ends. As noted on the warranty contract, "During the manufacturer warranty period, mechanical and electrical failures are covered by the manufacturer rather than SquareTrade."The Protection Plan is inclusive of any US manufacturer's warranty that may exist during the Coverage Term. It does not replace the manufacturer's warranty but provides certain additional benefits during the term of the manufacturer's warranty. If the manufacturer refuses to honor their warranty, SquareTrade can instead immediately step in to assist for any mechanical or electrical issues, which is why our protection plans run concurrently. When the consumer brought this concern to our attention, We explained the process. However, due to the dissatisfaction, we offered a one-year warranty refund. For the amount of $80.00 as a courtesy, via check, though, this is an exception to the standard process. Thanks
Our apologies for any misunderstanding of the warranty. As stated in the previous response, SquareTrade protection plans are extended warranties that cover the consumers beyond the manufacturer's warranty period to ensure there are no gaps in coverage and continues after their year ends. SquareTrade warranty during the first year works as a backup in the case the manufacturer denies the consumer service we will jump in to assist; this is the reason that the consumers' warranty starts on 10/8/2019. This information is outlined within the terms and conditions that have been emailed to the consumer.Square trade warranty will be the only coverage after the manufacturer warranty ends. This is the reason that it is posted on our websites and newegg. SquareTrade will continue coverage on the TV until the expiration date or the limit of liability is met.Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
I have attached three pictures of where it says the protection BEGINS, AFTER, the manufacturer warranty ends. It says nothing about "concurrent" or "inclusive" or other words you now use. You're saying it "continues after" the manufacturer's warranty ends. Nowhere does it say that in what is available to me, or anything like it. I have provided you with three pictures that spell it out very simply. There is no room for misinterpreting, being confused, misunderstanding or any of those other words you use on me, saying I don't understand the very simple words, "Mechanical/Electrical failures after the Manufacturer's warranty expires". There is NOTHING that says, anywhere, that the four years includes the first year where I am covered by the manufacturer. You are fraudulently advertising a product, and I did not receive what was advertised. I want four years of coverage after the manufacturer's warranty expires as stated, in more than one place.
I also have a problem with you, meaning SquareTrade, not acknowledging at all what is clearly spelled out, differs from the way you say it works. No one will acknowledge that. Instead you say I just don't understand what I read. You are saying one thing, taking my money, then giving me something different. That is fraud. You are not providing the product that is advertised. You have one plan that covers accidental damage, as one would want for a phone, that starts from the purchase date. I have the Electrical/Mechanical coverage that begins after the manufacturer's warranty ends, as it states on the details of the Newegg checkout, that I have provided.
I was advertised to, I made a purchase, and I want what is stated I would get. I'm tired of you glossing over it and saying I'm better protected from my purchase date and trying to make it attractive. It doesn't work that way. I want the longevity of protection, five years total. One year manufacturer's warranty and four year SquareTrade Electrical/Mechanical coverage as stated.
Sincerely
Had accidental damage to the laptop, but I have SquareTrade ADH on my macbook pro. The policy states that I should get my laptop repaired, reimbursed or replaced in 2-5 business days. It took two weeks and now I have to send it back. I have emails and recorded phone calls that prove each time they lie and don't know what's going on, what has been repaired or replaced. I am never kept in the loop and have to constantly call them. It's ridiculous. I wish I did my research on this company first- it's very clear that there's a lot going on with them and negative reviews. Stick with AppleCare.
SquareTrade provides repair, replacement, and reimbursement as our resolutions to address consumer claims. Which resolutions are available depends on the item and issue. The resolutions are detailed within the terms and conditions of our warranty contract. We do our best to accommodate consumer requests. However, these resolutions are ultimately determined per our discretion. We are currently reviewing this case and will be in contact with the consumer with a resolution we once again apologize for the experience, and we hope that we can turn it around. Thank you
When this situation was brought to our attention. We advised the consumer via email to send in the laptop for us to issue another replacement or reimbursement resolution option. Being that we have offered a resolution to the consumer. We are currently waiting on the device to be sent into our facilities in order to proceed. Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:I sent in the MacBook Pro on Friday 10/25/19 to fedex to be shipped to SquareTrade. I do not want a replacement, as this already happened and it was a broken MacBook Pro not nearly the price of my original one. I provided reasoning and resolution through email via SquareTrade. Like I mentioned, if another replacement is sent out, Apple will thoroughly inspect it and if it is flawed, I will proceed with legal action. I cannot keep going through this when I need a laptop for school. Give me the reimbursement and close the case. I wish I read reviews on the Revdex.com before purchasing a plan through SquareTrade.
Sincerely
I purchased 2/20/2018 with a square trade warranty, the hinge broke through wear and tear. They sent me a claim back saying this was caused by accidental damage and would not repair them. I purchased these on *** with the plan. They told me I needed to purchase a higher level warranty which was never offered at purchase. I find square trade completely dishonest, I called them again to complain but they refunded the warranty. Very dishonest company.
We apologize for any miscommunication at the point of sale.Squaretrade has a variety of plans depending on the device. The consumer's Protection Plan offered Standard coverage only. Our Standard plans mirror the manufacturer's warranty to provide coverage for mechanical and electrical issues and are not inclusive of coverage for any physical damage. The consumer has access to this information on our website once they log in.After thoroughly reviewing the photos, we have decided to make a one-time exception for reimbursement as a resolution. A specialist has reached out to the consumer to provide this resolution. A check will be sent out via ***. We hope we're able to turn their experience around. Thanks
I purchased an $800 electronic wind instrument (a digital, electronic, musical instrument) through Amazon on March 6, 2018 with a 3-year warranty through SquareTrade. Within a few days or so, the instrument failed (detuning, deprogramming, notes didn't play, etc.). I contacted the manufacturer on or around March 13. It was replaced. Again, within a few days or weeks, it failed. I received a third replacement instrument in December, 2018. It worked great, and I used it in several performances, then it failed.
I have documented the problems (audio recordings), and I've tried to work with the manufacturer to fix the problem. They
have been unable to help. So I made a claim with SquareTrade. It was an electronic filing. Seconds (literally, 2 or 3 seconds) after I submitted it, the screen changed, saying my claim had been rejected because it was a preexisting condition.
I called SquareTrade. The person I spoke with repeated that the claim was rejected because the problem was preexisting: although she could not explain exactly who it was "preexisting" just that it met their criteria. I asked if there were someone I could contact to appeal. She said no there was "no appeal." I asked if she could send me a written statement as to why my claim was rejected--even if it just said "preexisting condition"--she said there was no way to send me anything in writing, "the claim is closed."
SquareTrade did offer to refund the $17 premium, which I declined.
I contacted Amazon and they checked . . . ultimately, they gave me the same phone number to SquareTrade that I had used earlier.
We apologize for any inconvenience the consumer may have experienced during the claim filing process. When researching the account we found the consumer was offered the local repair. The local repair is a quick hassle-free resolution; where the consumer has the device repaired at their convenience. Squaretrade makes every effort to offer multiple resolutions based on the consumer's device. At this time, we have approved the claim for a mail-in repair. If the item is unrepairable we will seek out another resolution that will fit the consumer's needs. A resolution specialist has reached out to the consumer and provided the next steps in the process. We hope this will turn their experience around.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 13917319, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. As I understand it: The business will endeavor to have the instrument repaired. If it cannot be repaired the business will work with me to find a satisfactory outcome, which I assume would be a full refund. I have had three of these instruments and all three failed. The manufacturer has no idea what is causing problems (detuning, dropped notes, frozen notes, etc.) The problems with the instrument are erratic. They first appeared on each of these instrument within days (the first one) to over three weeks for the third one. After that. the problems reappear with greater and greater frequency. They can last minutes to weeks. I have a detailed, 14 page PDF with embedded audio examples of the problems that can be download here: *** I've also prepared a document, which includes their Unit Repair Form, a copy of the original purchase order, and a printed copy of the 14 page report (audio files are not accessible in this format). This document will be inside the product packaging, so that the repair shop has an idea of what to look for.
Sincerely,
Walton
Bought an expensive plush leather office chair and purchased extra warranty from Square Trade. When the thin leather surfaces started coming apart 1 1/2 years later, I contacted Square Trade. After completing the claim process online and getting some additional info from their phone representative, they issued a FULL REFUND for the original purchase price within a few hours. Check arrived as promised within a few days.
