I bought a shredder from *** a little over a year ago and it went out on me about 2 weeks ago. Called them up, they asked me to provide proof of protection purchase and I received a *** shipping label within minutes of placing my repair request. I had my shredder back home in working order in less than a weeks time. Definitely worth the extra money for the service. Easy processing and excellent customer service. Thank You Square Trade, you are awesome.
Purchased a 4 year protection plan for a computer on Amazon. Less than 3 years later they tell me the plan is closed.

We apologize for any miscommunication of the warranty. The Square trade Standard Protection plans that was purchased for the computer covers items against hardware and electrical failures due to normal use. When this matter was brought to our attention, we reviewed the consumers' account with the order number *** It appears that the consumers' warranty is current and valid. If the consumer is in need to file a claim, it can be done through our SquareTrade website and our app. Thank you,JR
I tried to file a claim to get my laptop's right hinge fixed but they told me that my protection plan doesn't cover accidental damage.
We're sorry we were unable to approve your recent claim.Square trade offers two types of Protection plans Standard and Accidental, each of which offers varying degrees of coverage. The policy covering the product is a Standard plan, which protects against hardware and electrical failures due to normal usage. Unfortunately, this plan does not cover against physical or liquid damage; this is why we were unable to approve your claim.Square trade works to ensure our plans are advertised properly. We provide customers access to their warranties at any time via our website or mobile app. If desired, we can also provide a copy of the warranty contract via email or hard copy upon request, which provides more details regarding your policy coverage.Since we were unable to service this product, we have processed a full refund of your warranty purchasing price. We again apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you,JR
On sept 23 2019 I shipped my phone to squaretrade repair center (battery & freezing issues) because I could not go locally. Received on Sept 26 and battery still overheats now within 5mns of using phone, charging is now slow, back cover of phone loose and now scratches on my phone. Super disappointed. Contacted squaretrade and they filed another claim also mentioning a "deductible is covered" which I should not have because my warranty covers all. So now does that mean when something goes wrong I have to pay out of pocket? They are sending me to a repair center 25mns away. I cant get there no car and bus will take forever. I feel their repair dept damaged my phone and I am upset. I spent lots of money on cases, screensavers to make sure there is not a scratch on my phone (even took pics of phone before I sent it in, boost mobile, phones are not cheap) even when it accidentally drops. And now cover is loose and battery is overheating worse than before.
I would like to be reimbursed for the cost I paid for my phone so I can purchase a new phone and transfer my warranty.
If they could not repair, they should have just said so. I would have kept my phone because now its worst.
We apologize for any difficulties with your recent claim. Square trade uses certified technicians to complete our repairs, of whom extensively audit every product that we service. Entering our facilities and exiting. Items will only be sent back to the consumer if all hardware components pass this diagnostic testing to make sure that the repair is made successfully. In this case, when the customer called in to report the condition of the phone, an alternative resolution was offered. Understanding that the consumer is not satisfied with this alternative solution, we have filed a new claim and have approved it for reimbursement though this is an exception to the standard process.By providing the consumer with a full reimbursement of the item, we have exceeded the warranty limit and therefore completed their plan. We again apologize for any inconvenience and hope that we were able to turn the experience around. Thank you
Filed $85 claim in late July. Numerous emails promising reimbursement, acknowledging receipt of necessary paperwork. Two phone discussions: (1) Promised a check in the time the mail takes from east coast to my residence (also on east coast). 3 weeks later, no check. (2) Acknowledged check should have gone out. Promised to investigate and respond asap. Two weeks; nothing! It appears to me that *** is now recommending a competitor for extended warranties. I know why.
I was pleasantly surprised to have had a good experience with Square Trade. Our phone was replaced within a couple of days without a hitch.
I have an HP laptop that was purchased with a SquareTrade basic warranty. This policy covers electronic + mechanical failures. Pretty simple, and I wouldn't expect any external damage or drops to be covered under this warranty. I did, however, experience a mechanical failure where the internal securements between the laptop chasis and the upper & lower coverplates have come loose near the lid hinge.
Apparently this is a common issue with larger HP laptops. Seeing this as a simple and straightforward issue that would be covered under a "mechanical" failure provision - I began to file a claim. I have been denied from the first call to the 5th person I've spoken to - even after submitting photos proving there had been no external damage - all the way to the claims supervisors who continue to insist that I must have caused the housing pieces to come apart, rather than the obvious failure of an internal screw or hinge part. Additionally, the technical support department that inspected the laptop admitted that they never removed the covers to determine which part(s) were faulty.
Despite their claim of "2-5" day turnaround - it's been almost two weeks and i'm still awaiting the return of my laptop that they won't cover.
We greatly apologize for any difficulty experienced with this claim.Squaretrade extensively trains our support specialists and technicians to provide consistent service. We understand this was not the consumer's experience and we're dissapointed to hear this. One of our specialists reached out to see how we can further help, as well as to discuss the claim. We greatly appreciate the consumer taking the time to speak with us and we have provided a new resolution.
We much appreciate the consumer taking the time to speak with us.Once we receive the item on our site, we will process the reimbursement. As for the refund of the warranty, the check has been processed and has been mailed out We appreciate the consumer taking the time in speaking with us, and for the chance to turn this experience around Thanks, JR
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID. I have received a portion of the funds offered by the company and expect to receive the second check shortly. Assuming this is received as described, this will resolve my issue with ***
I appreciate the willingness on the company's behalf to correct the issue and make it right, thank you.
Sincerely,
Chris
The fact that S-T requested I write a review shows how little attention they pay to Customer Service. I already wrote them a Scathing review of my experience - which, of course, they have not replied to. They only get one star because otherwise I can't leave this review.
My *** Laptop got the "blue screen of death" after a *** update. Staples gave my the contact information for the service department, telling me S-T would send packaging to get the Laptop back for servicing. instead I got a tech who, (very pleasantly, I must say)walked me through a LOOOOOg process ...twice. When I sent the third e-mail to say hadn't worked the 2nd time I got a reply saying basically " the steps we took should have fixed the product.. please contact us if there is anything we can do in the future" When I responded to that I got one more e-mail telling me to go to *** and I'd find instruction how to replace the "OS" I'm lucky I knew what OS stood for !
Absolutely stinking bad service. I's seriously considering legal action to get my money back.
This was my second repair on device. It was a very smooth, no hassle, zero issues, and received back ina very timely manner. I am pleased!!
Square Trade refunded my shredder. They tried to fix it, but that didn't work. They kept me update when it arrived to them, trying to fix and when my check was mailed.
I recently bought another shredder and added the 3 year warranty from Square Trade.
The agent explained that we would get a replacement tv or cash. We accepted the replacement offer. She told how to go and select one of the three TVs offered. We selected a *** and the tv was here in three days. The only complaint was the 55” tv was sitting by our front door when I returned home***goes this all the time even when it requires a signature. Anyone could have taken the tv.
I received a phone that was better, in my opinion, than the one I had. The service was quick and I am completely satisfied
They was fair and quick,Thank you! I already have a new laptop ordered.
Awesome and fast friendly and courteous will definitely purchase another warranty on all products
Easy, no hassle warranty. My laptop was dropped and no questions asked, they repaired it.
Squaretrade is the best!! I was frustrated and upset about my broken appliance. The customer service rep actually made me laugh and handled my claim within minutes over the phone. I am so glad I purchased this warranty!
I was thrilled to receive my e-gift card for my new phone on the same day that I mailed my old phone back. Awesome!!!!
I have purchased a cell phone off of Amazon which worked great and after a while it had an internal issue with it so I called Square Trade and they sent me a refurbished iPhone 7. At approximately 3 weeks of having the refurbished phone, it started acting strange, so I took it to TMOBILE and they said it was a internal problem with the phone and not the software. So Square Trade sent a 2nd phone...which worked for approximately 3 to 4 weeks. So I in turn did the same thing, took it by TMOBILE and they confirmed once again it was with the hardware and not the software. So I called Square Trade once again and they sent a 3rd refurbished Iphone 7 and informed me this would be the last phone and that they would just fully reimburse me. Well, my sons phone went out again after they just sent it to us just 33 days prior and they said that since it has been over 30 days that they are not liable for it. So I Mind you my son is 18 so we are not talking about a child with a cell phone.
We apologize for any difficulty with our replacement devices.Squaretrade extensively tests the hardware of all products utilized for our replacements, as our technicians will not utilize a product which fails these diagnostics. We also provide precautionary measures to ensure the devices are fully functional, such as a 30-day rework period for our claims. Squaretrade will address issues with a device which occurs within this period, regardless of the status of the warranty. In this case we understand the consumer experienced difficulty with multiple replacements, of which is never what we want for our consumers. A Squaretrade specialist has directly reached out to the consumer to discuss the situation and determine if we can reach an amicable resolution.
Square Trade employee *** accused me of fraud and refused to honor my contract. If *** indeed believes me guilty of fraud, I fully expect him to bring this to the attention of "law enforcement" (his words) so that this matter may be resolved by an objective, factual 3rd party. If *** is not prepared to stand by his bizarre accusations and threats so that this matter can be investigated properly, then Square Trade has no grounds for denying my claim and I expect full compensation as well as disciplinary action against *** for baselessly threatening a customer.
We apologize we were unable to process this claim.Squaretrade's Trust and Safety team is responsible for auditing certain claims. In this case our team verified several indications of misrepresentation on a recent claim. Due to this we are unable to honor this warranty and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Unfortunately, we were unable to honor this claim.Square Trade has a team that specializes in verifying repair receipts that get submitted for local repair claims. In this case, our team verified several indications of misrepresentation on this recent claim. We were not able to find any existence of the store named *** Audio. Address on the documents shows an address of a *** location *** which is also associated with an animal shelter. The phone number *** listed on the receipt is of ***
Misrepresenting information when filing claims violates Square Trade's Terms & Conditions and gives us the right not to honor and cancel the consumer Protection Plan(s). The terms and conditions are provided upon purchase of the Protection Plan. Thank you
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Again, company's response does not address the complaint. Complaint is that Square Trade representative *** has lied or contradicted other representatives on multiple occasions:
1) On 8/9, Square Trade manager *** acknowledged my documentation that repair is not possible at an authorized repair shop and thus AUTHORIZED ME TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT AN UNAUTHORIZED (PRIVATE) SERVICE. *** denied/ignored this and company's response also appears to contradict what *** authorized on 8/9.
2) On 9/3, Square Trade manage*** again re-asserted what *** stated on 8/9, that repair is authorized anywhere, not necessarily an authorized ***
3) On 9/11, Square Trade representative *** again re-asserted statements by *** and *** stating in absolute terms that my $299.99 reimbursement check was "in the mail". Subsequently, *** contradicted all 3 representatives and said that they were lying when they said the check was in the mail. *** again refused to acknowledge multiple authorizations to have the item serviced by a private *** repairman.
4) On 9/23, as further evidence of *** dishonesty and Square Trade's negligence, *** wrote in an email: "We will move forward with cancelling this plan on 10/23/2019. You will receive a full refund. This refund should be processed within 3-5 business days." NO REFUND WAS RECEIVED 1 WEEK (6 BUSINESS DAYS) LATER.
Company's last 2 responses have done nothing to address the multiple contradictions, falsehoods, and misstatements by company representatives, despite my carefully documented points. Company is simply hiding behind form responses, proving my complaint that Square Trade is negligent in dealing with customers as well as this Revdex.com complaint.
Sincerely
Customer service helped and got things accomplished for me quickly.
