My camera was dropped and broken. The response for Square Trade could not have been faster or more efficient Thank so much

What good is buying the insurance when they tell me to go to the Manufacturer. I will never buy the extended warranty again.

On July 7, 2018 my then fiancé and I purchased *** Samsung television from target. It was on clearance because it was a display model. We were a bit hesitant in the purchase but the store representative assured us, that it would be considered just as a new purchase. But because of our hesitance we purchased an extended warranty through Squaretrade for $49. When we got cable installed in late June of 2019, we noticed that there was an issue with the HDMI port. So we started a claim with Squaretrade. This process began with my wife filing on the website, and responding to emails, for a couple of weeks. They said they didn’t have the receipt. So she uploaded it. Then we didn’t hear anything. So I took over the process on 7/4, and spoke with Jovan about the issues. He said I had to be present with the tv so I had to call back. Through some personal things, I wasn’t able to return a call u til 8/7, and spoke with Hakeem. Again, he said they didn’t have the receipt, and kept saying that the tv didn’t match the warranty. After straightening all of this out, my wife submitting another recipes to another email, he said a TV tech would contact me within 2 days. On 8/13, I got in touch with Alex, a tech. We went though all of the troubleshooting, again explaining what the problems were. After an hour of this, he said he would send an email and I was to submit a video of what the tv was doing. I submitted the video to the email sent, twice... never heard anything again. 9/6, So I went through the chat feature on the website. After 20 minutes only to find out they don’t have tv issues over the chat. So I called again on 9/6, to find out what the hold up was. Again, they don’t have the receipt. They have no clue what went wrong. They apologize for the inconvenience, and assure me that after responding yet again to another email with the receipt we will get this straightened out after 24 hours. This is unacceptable. I will never use this service again. I have spent more in time trying to get this handled than it is worth.

We apologize for any difficulty with this claim.Squaretrade does our best to make the claims process a hassle free experience, though in certain cases we may need more information or documentation to proceed. In this instance there was an initial delay with the registration of this warranty, this has since been resolved and the claim process for this item started. We understand this consumer experienced difficulty speaking with our support specialists and this is never what we want for the consumer. We have reviewed the claim and approved it for a resolution we hope is satisfactory. We will also be reviewing their case to determine the discrepancy in communication, we greatly again apologize and appreciate this being brought to our attention.

I purchased an extended warranty for a waterfall pump through Amazon.com. The pump failed after the two year manufacture's warranty but is still under the four year extended warranty purchased through SquareTrade. I have submitted a claim however they, SquareTrade have offered no reasonable settlement. There are no repair companies in my area for this type pump. SquareTrade insists I must submit an email/letter from a pump repair company stating the pump cannot be repaired. I have written the seller, HalfOffPonds for assistance but since the pump is out of the manufacture's warranty there little they will do.

We apologize for any difficulty with this claim. In this instance the consumer's claim was approved for a local repair, wherein the product can be serviced by any technician of their choice. We understand this resolution failed to service the device and due to this one of our specialists reached out to the consumer to verify a better alternative.Based on our conversation we hope the consumer is satisfied with this new resolution and we again appreciate bringing this to our attention.

Thank you for trying to fix my devise, well I guess it was worse than I though but I still like the action you guys took from the beginning. Thank you for the action on your part from the beginning.

Excellent service, exactly what I was paying for, and very easy working with them.

they representative that helped me was so helpful and willing to resolve my issue.

Great service and fast at repairs. This is my 2nd time with a claim. No complaints. Definitely recommend.

Great timely service! Took time to resolve problems! Great Customer Service.

I purchased a laptop from *** August 2017 and purchased the Square Trade extended warranty. On August 13, 2019 with the warranty still in effect, the screen developed a pink/discoloring over the entire screen making it almost impossible to use. I contacted Square Trade and sent pictures and assured them the screen is not cracked and the laptop has not been dropped. I was told they could see by the pictures there was something wrong with the screen and it was not cracked and instructed to send the laptop and power cord in for repairs which I did. I received an email from Square Trade on August 28 stating there was nothing wrong with my laptop or the screen and they were sending it back. I received the laptop on September 5 and the screen now has a green discoloring over it and has not been repaired at all. My power cord was not returned to me either. I called the company and they basically accused me of lying about sending the power cord in with the laptop and ignored the fact that the laptop has not been repaired. I am concerned about getting my laptop repaired or replaced since Square Trade fraudulently has stated they don't think there is anything wrong with it and that only "if" they decided I sent my charger to them they will look around for it. I am concerned that they have fraudulently sold a warranty for a product they do not plan to repair and furthermore, I believe they did not make an attempt to repair it in the first place. I would obviously like to have my laptop repaired or replaced per the warranty and want my power cord/charger also returned. I am concerned about the validity of this company and their business practices.

We apologize for any inconvenience during the claim process. Square trade uses certified technicians to complete our repairs, of whom extensively audit every product that we service coming into our facilities.Upon the initial audit diagnostic testing, the technicians were not able to replicate the issue that the consumer was having with the device. Therefore returning the device to the consumer as no problem found. We understand that that the consumer felt that the proper diagnostic wasn't done to replicate the issue since the problem continues with the device. Square Trade has reviewed all images associated with this case and had made a decision. Square trade has determined that the best solution will be to reimburse the consumer for the purchase price of the item. We have sent an email to the consumer with the next steps. We hope the consumer is satisfied with the results, and we appreciate the consumer taking the time in bringing this issue to our attention, and for the chance to turn this experience around. Thanks

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I have attached a picture of the laptop as it looked when returned to me.

Sincerely

Covered our broken iwatch screen, was a straightforward process. We have all our electronics covered and will continue to do so. Reasonable and fair insurance. See lots of one star reviews so hope my experience was the norm and not an outlier.

Very fast with my claim. Easiest way to file a claim!

Fantastic service, quick delivery of my replacement phone. Thank you sooo much!

I bought a tablet from *** along with a $30, 2 year warranty from square trade. On Sept 1 my granddaughter dropped and cracked the screen on the tablet. On Sept 3 I phoned square trade to have a replacement sent. I was pressured to accept a $61 pro-rated reimbursement, to which I rejected. The agent then told me that I will be receiving a return label to return the item for replacement, and upon receiving it I would then be sent a replacement. Not 15 minutes later I received this email:
________________________________________________________________________________... /> ***Claim: *** Hello Charles,

Good news, we’ve approved your claim. However, we could not find an exact replacement or model that was comparable to your current item. Therefore, we’ll be sending you a check for the purchase cost of the item instead to the below address:

Name : *** LAWRENCE ST. NE WASHINGTON DC 20018

What happens next?
1. You’ll receive an email asking you to sign an Affidavit for Reimbursement
2. Once you sign, we’ll process a check and send it to you***
________________________________________________________________________________... />
I called square trade to complain about this deceptive email stating no replacement could be found. The item has been in stock at *** from the date I purchased it, up until today, Sept. 4, 2019. I called the corporate office and complained to the agent that the item is in stock, so why was my claim for replacement changed to reimbursement? Their response was that on Sept. 3 the item was out of stock. My response to that statement was, "that's a complete lie, the item has never been out of stock"
I was put on hold again, only to NOW be told you signed the reimbursement document so we cannot change your claim to replacement. Square Trade changed their story 3 times against my claim, and the tablet is still available to purchase from *** I feel cheated and lied to because I would not accept the original offer of $61, then lied to a second time about the exact item being out of stock, then lied to a third time stating they could have changed my claim back to replacement if I had not signed the reimbursement document. I was told initially that I had no option but to sign the reimbursement document or receive nothing in return, and now that became their excuse to deny me the replacement tablet. I spent $105.99. $69.99 for the tablet and $30 for the 2 year warranty.

We apologize for any difficulty experienced with the claim process.Squaretrade provides repair, replacement and reimbursement as our resolutions to address consumer claims. These resolutions are outlined within the terms and conditions of our warranty contract.Which are available depends on the item and issue. We do our best to accommodate consumer requests; however, these resolutions are ultimately determined per our discretion. In this instance, the consumer was approved for a replacement; however, our sourcing team was not able to locate the device and moved the resolution to reimbursement. This will allow the consumer to purchase the same or a different device based on the features that they need. A reimbursement check is being processed and will be mailed out to the consumer. We have also provided an additional full warranty refund as a courtesy, though this is an exception to the standard process. Thanks, JR

I purchased this plan on Feb. 6,2019 from *** when I bought a TV for my daughter. I specifically asked if it covered drops and accidental damage. I was told absolutely! Now time to file the claim and I find I was lied to. This plan does not cover any accidental damage. This is false advertising. I told them that is not acceptable to have someone acting as an agent from the selling their plans and then when it is time to use it they do not honor it. They willingly take our money and letting their agent provide incorrect information to make money

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Sep 05, 2019

We apologize for any misinformation regarding the consumers' plan coverage.Squaretrade TV warranties include extensive hardware coverage against hardware and electrical failures due to normal usage.Square trade TV warranties do not include coverage against Accidental Damage. We greatly apologize if the consumer felt our plan was not advertised clearly, as this is something that we strive to achieve. We also provide customers access to their warranties via our mobile app or website, where the consumer can see additional details regarding their coverage. We understand the consumer felt this was not their experience, and we'd like to see what we can do to turn this around. We have reviewed the *** account and has approved the claim for reimbursement. The consumer will be receiving this reimbursement via check, though this is an exception to the standard process, as we want to improve the consumers' view of Squaretrade.Thank you

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

The response was quick and painless. We were able to resolve the problem in a few days. Everything was perfect

I had a great experience. Refund was issued immediately. No complaints what so ever. This is the second time I had to use this insurance and both times were great.

Courteous, knowledgeable staff with a timely resolution! When I originally purchased the agreement with our TV 4 1/2 years ago, I didn't realize what a value this would be. I won't hesitate to use Square Trade for any future electronics purchases!

Companies terms of service provides for a guarantee that they will fix the problem within 5 business days. No where in the document does it imply that they can take 15 business days (or more?).

Terms of service are at *** We shipped our laptop on August 12. It was received at 9:30 AM on August 14. I received no additional information until I emailed and called on August 26. At that time they said they will send in an update to the repair facility. I called next day and they said it will take 24-48 hours to get a response. At this point I was offered a refund of warranty (which I was entitled to based on the terms of service). Called 28th and they didn't have an update from the repair facility. Called 29th and no update. Found they didn't actually send a message to repair facility until 28th so the repair facility has 24-48 hours to respond.

On 28th also sent message through ***. Received an automatted email saying to contact company or use email below. There is no email below.

Called Friday 30th. This is when I found out about the 15 business days to correct. This does NOT include the day they receive the item, even though they received it early. Was told by *** that he will personally ensure it doesn't go past Tuesday. Earlier people had stated it wouldn't go past end of week, which I foolishly did not get in writing.

Called 9/2. Found out that isn't a business day so will have to wait additional days for resolution. "End" date changes to 9/6
Called 9/3. No updates or confirmation of when to expect laptop or that the "part" they are waiting for will be available.
9/3 also called *** customer service who stayed on the phone with me working through their process for 75 minutes. Was told they would call back. *** is also going to research this since they sell the service.

At this point my son has been without his laptop since 8/5 (took time for shipping container to get to us). Given the changing dates, I have no faith they will either fix the laptop on time or if they do that it will be fixed right.

If I had known they could keep the laptop for 15 business days after they received it, I would have never purchased the contract and I would have simply self insured.

My claim number is *** The laptop they have is

We want to apologize for the consumer repair delay and experience. We aim to make the warranty experience hassle-free and always want to provide an immediate resolution to our customers when needed.Squaretrade provides repair, replacement, and reimbursement as our resolutions to address consumer claims. Which are available depends on the item and issue. Square trade aims to resolve claims within five business days. However, this quoted timeframe doesn't include scenarios when part are needed to be sourced to repair the item as at times these parts can be on backorder. Squaretrade has no control regarding these instances.Upon review of the consumers' account, we were able to see that the consumers' item was beyond economical repairs, and it has been moved to reimbursement. The consumer will be receiving a full reimbursement of their item purchased price. An email confirmation has been sent to the consumer. We again apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Sep 06, 2019

We again apologize for any inconvenience,Squaretrade sells a variety of warranties which include differences in coverage, and they all have the same claim process. We always welcome feedback from our consumers to improve and make the experience better. We thank the consumer for sharing this feedback with us as we will pass it on. Thanks

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

You state "all use the same claim process". However, that claim process is not spelled out. You simply state you will continue to work on the claim. In theory, you could keep the product for 4 months trying to fix it. There needs to be a clear time frame for when a product will stop being worked. Please actually READ what I'm saying and do not respond with boiler plate.

If everything uses "the same claim process", please explain what the procedures are for when an item takes too long to be fixed. As it is, your terms and conditions are not clear and leave a customer vulnerable and deceived.

Sincerely

I usually renew my warranty every year in April! I was never notified as usual with an email reminder to renew my iPhone warranty! I never received an email to remind me renew my warranty! Now it’s expired! I feel that this is SquareTrade’s fault when they never sent me an reminder email to renew!

We want to apologize for your experience. We aim to make the warranty experience hassle-free and always want to provide an immediate resolution to our customers when needed.Squaretrade warranties send notifications to the consumers when the warranty is about to expire as a courtesy. However, it is not a requirement for us.Squaretrade does our best to ensure consumers are aware of our product and methods. We provide details regarding the warranty start date, and end date as we are very transparent with our consumer regarding their plan's coverage in the warranty contract.Square trade now offers a monthly plan that covers new and used devices. The device will be covered up to four claims per plan or until the plan is canceled by the consumer or if the monthly payment is not met. With this new phone warranty, it will guarantee that the consumer plan stays active throughout the years. Being that the warranty has expired, we would not be able to provide any additional compensation or assistance. However, we do recommend that the consumer review the warranties that we now offer for phones. Thanks, JR
