Allstate Protection Plans Reviews (%countItem)

Dear Revdex.com,
December 2018 I purchased *** for my children. I purchased them at *** and also purchased the warranty because my children are younger and are higher risk of breaking them. Recently, my 6 year old son broke the screen on his chromebook so I submitted an online claim to the warranty department with which I purchased the additional warranty. I was offered a choice of a monetary reimbursement or repair/replace option. I choose the repair/replace option. I was then informed by the company that they were unable to locate a comparable replacement and repair wasn't feasible so they were just sending me the money instead. I politely requested that they reconsider as I did not want the money. To date, they are waiting on me to return a warranty affidavit so they can send me the money. I refuse to sign the affidavit as it was not what I requested and I believe the company is refusing to honor the warranty because of their out of pocket costs. I certainly understand that any company is only if business if they make a profit and I am definitely not against a business being profitable. However, I bought the "warranty" for this very reason. A warranty is worthless and fraudulent if they do not honor a straight forward claim. I would like to resolve this with the company honoring the warranty service they advertise and that I purchased. It is very doubtful that I will ever knowingly do business with this company again. I also intend to leave factual feedback for this company, hopefully someone else with be saved the disappointment.
Respectfully

We apologize for any inconvenience throughout your claim process. Squaretrade offers repair, replacement or reimbursement as our resolutions for claims as our resolution options, of which are detailed within the terms and conditions of this consumer's warranty. This warranty contract can be provided at any time upon request via email or hard copy. These resolutions are determined per our discretion and which are available typically depend on your item category and the issue it is experiencing. In this case, when it was determined that replacement was insufficient we migrated the claim to reimbursement. Following this, we provided a link with an affidavit for the reimbursement that hasn't been signed by the consumer yet. Being that we have offered a reimbursement resolution that met the consumer's coverage limit we have met our obligations beneath this warranty.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The company gave me a choice and I choose a replacement (I was given the choice) but now the company doesn't want to honor the warranty. I purchased the warranty in good faith. However, I will never purchase anything else from this company. I will also leave the appropriate review so other unsuspecting customers do not waste their money.

Sincerely

I had extended service contract that I purchased in 2016 and was scheduled to run on 7/26/19. I had a issue with my computer on 7/22/19 and called for help and had a guy do a diagnostics on the computer over the phone and said it seems to be a hard drive issue. I was on the phone for over 1 hr and told me he would send a box to ship back with in 3 business days. He also said good thing u called in because your warranty was expiring and if they couldn’t fix it they would give money to help purchase a new labtop computer. I said that’s fine. I never received the box so I thought there was a delay so I gave it until today I called in on 8/5/2019 to find out where the box was. The said there was no notes on the box being sent to me and said it was fixed over the phone which is incorrect. The guy just lied to me so are warranty would expire with in the 4 days of 7/26/19. This is so shady to keep a 172 of my money when I wanted it fixed.

We apologize for the consumer recent claim experience. When this was brought to our attention one of our specialists reached out to discuss the situation with the consumer, as well as to determine a resolution. although we were not able to get a hold of the consumer we left them a message.Square Trade had approved the consumer Claim for repair they will receive an email with details and expected time frames. We again apologize for any inconvenience.Thank you

From the first phone call the response and support was great. Everything was handled in a very professional and courteous manner. Everything they said was as promised. I will never buy a laptop or electronic product without buying this service. I am a very happy camper!

I sent a printer to be repaired. I was told I would have it back in a week and I am at the end of week two and still no printer back. They emailed me and told me I would have it back within two days of the repair being completed. I am at day five since the repair was completed and hopefully I will get it back in the mail tomorrow. They need to get their *** figured out and not have every person you speak to tell you something different. I will never if I can help it purchase a product that has a square trade extended warranty.

My experience was great,it was very little hassle. Not what I expected wonderful surprise.

Horrible experience took 2 months to get resolved and I'm the one that decided what they need to do I ended up buy a new unit and told them they need to refund me my money

I bought an extended warranty for a refurbished computer that I purchased on ***. The hard drive went out 3 weeks after purchase. The computer refurbisher would not take care of me because they wanted me to send the computer in for repair. I had already called my IT guy because this computer is used for business and I could not go without a computer for 2-3 weeks.
The manufacturer did not help me so I turned to Square Trade and they would not even file a claim!
Never again. They said it was still under manufacturers warranty. So I was just stuck!
I learned a hard lesson. NEVER WILL I BUY SQUARE TRADE WARRANTY INSURANCE AGAIN!

I bought the square trade 1-year warranty on a pair of headphones that already comes with a 2-year warranty on the product. Square trade misrepresented themselves. The average customer is not going to call the headphone company to find out if/how long their warrant is BEFORE buying the square trade warranty. They KNOW they're doing something unethical and misrepresenting their product. I called and they immediately gave me a refund after hearing this. Something should be done to protect consumers.

We apologize for any dissatisfaction with our warranty.Squaretrade utilizes the manufacturer warranty for products we cover, a process which has been in place for several years and provides numerous benefits for our consumers. Squaretrade warranties can only provide a finite amount of coverage, of which typically equals the item purchasing price or a specific limit of claims.Squaretrade does our best to be clear with these policies, detailing this referral process numerous times on our website help center. We also explain this referral process in our warranty contract, of which can be provided at anytime upon request. At this point Squaretrade has cancelled the warranty for a refund, if the consumer has any questions or concerns we would request they reach our support center.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I was totally blown away with Square Trade, Inc . Their customer device were so very helpful and the technician that came to repair was great.
Thank you!!!

At first when filing my claim, I thought Customer service was lacking..Then I dealt with a real professional who simplified the process and settled my claim expeditiously

Worst customer service , they don’t value people time and money , who ever answers calls comes with bunch of lies. I gave my laptop for service a month ago still they are part has not arrived . Every time I call they tell me this is a different call center and our facility is closed and supervisors are busy and no one gave me the time line yet , one of the agent told that they will get item ready by 7/23 and parts arrived and when I called 7/25 one of the supervisor spoke to me and told me item will be repaired by 7/27 else we will move this claim to payout and he was suppose to call me back but he didn't do so. So again I called several times one of the supervisor told me if the laptop is not repaired by 15th business day we will move to payout and that is no where mentioned in the terms and conditions. But he was telling me that , and I called next day another agent is teaching my how to count business days and asking me to leave 3 business days and count from there after I insisted him and raising voice he connected me to another Resolution Manager and he told be another business day is left so wait for another day they went count the day item was received as one business day , and just to avoid payout they just created label and saying item repair is completed so we wont move this to payout. I spent one hour explaining item is shipped but the shipping label they gave me just has status as Label created and the Resolution Manager is arguing that it shipped and when I called him to talk to *** he refused to do so.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We apologize for any delay experienced with this repair.Squaretrade does our best to have all item repairs completed expeditiously, providing a 5 day service guarantee for all items sent to our mail-in center. Any item repair which exceeds this guarantee is entitled to a full refund of the warranty purchasing price, as was provided in this instance. Squaretrade has also provided the consumer an additional courtesy payment, as well as shipped the repaired product to the consumer.Being that Squaretrade has completed this repair and fulfilled our service guarantee we would be unable to provide a reimbursement.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 20, 2019

The customer was issued his payment on 8/9/19 and this may take 7-10 business days to arrive. We also provided a separate warranty refund on 7/16/19. We apologize for any delay in shipment but we have fulfilled our obligations beneath this consumers' warranty contract. If the consumer needs to have the payment resent to an alternative address we would request they contact our support center for additional assistance.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I shared the details in my earlier response , one mail states 08/05 and one mail states 08/10 and also it mentions 5 business days and now they are responding saying 8 - 10 business days this is what I meant they never follow any *** from the beginning

Attaching mail for reference how come 5 business days , changes to 8 -10 business days? . Same was told to me for my repair , as per their earlier responses I was told I will get my refund only if they are unable to complete repair by 15 business days , but their response was we will issue refund if unable to repair by 5 business days

But my refund was initiated only after approaching Revdex.com after 20 business days and several calls so this company needs to pay me additionally for missing all the *** and doing false promises and for my frustration

Sincerely

Resolved quickly and paid me promptly. Great service and would do it again

I bought a cell phone from *** and purchased a protection plan through squaretrade. I dropped my phone off a roof while working and I contacted them and filed a claim. I had problems from the beginning getting emails from them. They tried to send me two shipping labels via email for me to print out and send my phone in. so I requested that they mail me the label instead. which they did and I received it. I sent my phone, they got it and signed for it..(I have proof) that was on 07/18/2019. the date today is now 07/31/2019. I was told over a week ago that I would receive the gift card via email within 1-3 days. now they keep telling me I should receive an update within 24 hours. see my thing is... it doesnt take over a week for something that they said would happen in 1-3 days. every 24 hours, im contacting them and asking what is going on. I keep getting "youll receive an update within 24 hours" I do construction work and thing like that and ive been out of work since my phone broke. I need my phone for my contacts. im tired of getting the "youll receive an update within 24 hours" as I said, I was supposed to get the gift card via email.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We apologize for any delay in the receipt of this payment.Squaretrade gift cards typically arrive within 1-2 business days of the claim's approval, though in this case we understand the consumer has experienced a delay. Due to this we will be issuing an additional check for the reimbursement amount via an alternate method of payment. One of our specialists has directly messaged the consumer to explain these results.

Sincerely

this company did not meet there end of the purchase I made which was a 2 year protection plan I had purchase was and I was meet with difficulty and no help what so ever it was more of running around the with a problem instead of fixing the problem I got no where this company is the worst.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We apologize for any difficulty experienced with this claim.Squaretrade has compiled years of experience to streamline the claims process and to provide consumers access to their warranties online. In this case the consumer was referred to the item manufacturer, of which is standard process. Our specialists have reached out to the consumer with more details regarding their claim. We hope this is a satisfactory result.

I purchased a 2DS from *** for my 6 year old and so I purchased the Square Trade plan which states it covers *** which is bound to happen with a 6 year old boy. I filed the claim and sent the 2DS back due to screen broke after being dropped and the game slot had several issues. They said they would refund $20 paid for the warranty but couldn't repair or replace the 2DS- what a crock! Talk about not standing behind your warranty- I am shocked and disappointed. This is completely fraudulent.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We apologize for any misunderstanding regarding the coverage for this product.Squaretrade sells a variety of plans, some of which include differences in coverage. In this case the consumer's item was covered by a Standard Protection plan, a warranty which covers hardware or electrical failures due to normal use. This claim was initially approved due to a functionality error, but once inspected by our technicians there was severe damage to the product. This damage exceeds the coverage of the warranty and this is why the product was returned unrepaired. Our specialists have reached out to the consumer to provide additional information.

I bought a protection plan warranty and the contract clearly states that the coverage starts after manufacture's warranty expires. The product I bought clearly states the manufacturer warranty expire in 2 years. I purchased on 1/20/ 2016 and the square trade warranty would start on 1/20/ 2018 and cover until 1/20/2020. However, Square trade erroneously states that my manufacture warranty is only 1 year and refuse to cover my claim. They cheat me out of one year of warranty/.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We apologize for any misunderstanding regarding our warranties. While Squaretrade does utilize the manufacturer warranty for covered products, our plans do initiate on the date of purchase. Squaretrade can provide only a finite amount of claim resolutions, claims serviced by the manufacturer do not negate from this coverage limit. This information is available within the terms and conditions of this consumer's warranty, as well as on their warranty contract. If a consumer has not received their warranty contract automatically we can deliver this information via email or hard copy upon request. We also provide consumers access to their warranties details via our mobile app or website. If the manufacturer denies servicing the product we request the consumer contacts our support center with any relevant reference number or documentation they can provide. If needed Squaretrade can override this referral and step in early to provide service.

I purchased a 2 year protection plan from Squaretrade for a *** DVD Player when I purchased it about 8 months ago from *** The DVD Player started to have an electrical malfunction so I contacted Squaretrade and they told me that the issue was indeed covered by the warranty. The plan I purchased clearly protects the DVD Player from electrical and mechanical issues not due to an accident and offers repair or replacement. When I spoke with the agent of Squaretrade they informed me that the DVD Player was still covered under the manufacturer's warranty so I needed to contact *** to get a replacement or repair. I contacted *** several times and was never able to get in touch with anyone who returned my calls or emails so I contacted Squaretrade again. The agent attempted to call *** while I was on the phone and after waiting for them to go through the same hurdles they admitted that they would have to process the claim. I was told to keep the defective unit and they would process a gift card so I could purchase a new unit but if I accepted the gift card it was the end of the protection plan. I did accept the terms since the *** DVD player didn't last and I needed to get it replaced to keep my children entertained on our trips. The agent said he needed to check with his system and he would tell me the amount of the gift card. I assumed he was getting the DVD Player priced out at Walmart and the amount was around $50. When I went to purchase the DVD Player the price was $100, double the amount I was given. I contacted Squaretrade via their online chat and was told that they wouldn't pay more than the purchase price. I told the agent that the agreement was for repair or replacement and I wouldn't be able to replace the DVD player with the amount they gave and they said that they wouldn't pay more than they had paid, that they wouldn't pay more than the original purchase price. I bought a plan to repair or replace my DVD player, I can neither repair nor replace my DVD player with their resolution.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We apologize for any dissatisfaction with this claim.Squaretrade provides repair, replacement or reimbursement as our resolutions for claims. Which resolution a product qualifies for depends on it's category and the issues experienced. In this case the consumer was approved for a Fast Cash reimbursement, wherein they are provided a slightly deduced reimbursement instead of proceeding with another resolution. We understand the replacement purchasing price for this item is now more expensive but Squaretrade can only cover an item up to it's purchasing price. As an exception to the normal process Squaretrade has issued an additional check to meet the item purchasing price, but we are unable to provide any additional compensation.

Square Trade gave us easy to follow instructions, kept us up to date every step of the way & when it was determined our inverter was not repairable, they issued a refund for full purchase price in a very timely manner! Totally satisfied with their service.

I contacted Square Trade back on June 27th. I filed a claim that my laptop screen was developing bubbles in it. They asked that I send my laptop in for repair, however I have sensitive information on my laptop, so they said I could find a local repair. During this time my laptop then stopped working. I called back, Square Trade said I was still under the same Claim # and that I can take my laptop in to have it repaired. They said they would reimburse me for the Estimate Repair Cost of $85.00 to have it looked at. I was traveling, so I brought my Laptop to a local company in the area. They ran a diagnostics and said it would cost more to repair the item than to replace it. They said it would need a new screen, a new hard drive and a new motherboard. They said that the laptop was inferior from the time of purchase. The recommended a new laptop. The repair estimate was $700.00 the same amount as the replacement value. I paid $85 to find this out.
I called Square Trade multiple times, each time I spoke with someone that I could barely understand, they would say one thing, then come back and say something else. On July 24th after multiple attempts, the Customer Service Representative told me that Square Trade would only refund me the replacement value of the laptop of $700.00 not including the $85 I spent to have it looked at to determine if it was repairable. I said ok, I was willing to accept the $700 refund for replacement value so I could buy a new laptop. I have since called multiple times, I have documented every phone call and conversation, date and time. To do I still have not received a refund, I am now being told to send in my laptop, in which is completely irreparable. And they want to start a NEW Claim. I refused, and asked why isn't there notes stating they were supposed to send me a refund check in the amount of $700 on July 24th? They said today that a Supervisor would be calling me within 2 hours, because they are busy. I am so blown away at this service and the lack of regard for peoples time and money. I purchased this extended service for $150, I paid $85 to find out I have a irreparable laptop, and Square Trade still will not refund me the replacement value of the laptop so I can get back to work! I have missed much work, valuable deadlines and this is unacceptable!!!!

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 02, 2019

We definitely want to apologize for your experience. Squaretrade offers repair, replacement or reimbursement as our resolutions for claims. These resolutions are determined per our discretion and which are available typically depend on your item category and the issue it is experiencing. In this case, when it was determined that repair was insufficient to service your product we migrated the claim to reimbursement. As per our process, we provide a prepaid shipping label for the item to be sent to us. A check has been processed and has been mailed to the consumer please allow 7-10 business days to deliver. The consumer was provided with a full refund of their warranty, As a courtesy, we will provide, a reimbursement for the diagnostic cost via check due to the frustration they have endured. Thanks

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I have received reimbursement for replacement cost of my laptop, however I am waiting to receive reimbursement for the cost of $85 to diagnose the issue and reimbursement for warranty service of $149.99.

Sincerely

I filed a claim with Squaretrade on 7/21/2019 regarding a television. On 7/22/2019 I called to check to see what additional steps I needed to take and was told I needed to be home and near my TV in order for them to do some trouble shooting. I called that evening when I got home. The rep I spoke to was very nice but told me my TV needed to be replaced and they would do that for free. The new TV arrived on 7/25 damaged! Cracked in multiple places I called and reported it and was told to take pictures and new a tv would be sent out again. I sent the pictures that same day. On 7/26 called to follow up and was told a the new TV would be delivered at the same time the damage one was picked up. I was told to call *** to schedule a pick up. When I called *** wanted to charge me to pick up the damaged TV. I called back and was told by *** I would not get a new TV until they received approval from the *** who was the vendor and only after the damaged TV was returned. Which I found odd since I have email stating my TV was being delivered through *** When I asked for a supervisor he refused to transfer me. Finally he got *** on the line who was no help. When I asked for the number to the corporate office both *** and *** refused to give it to me. I asked for *** supervisor and was told she was not available. I later receive an email from *** who told me she would be assisting me. I sent an email for her to call and she did but she told me she would follow up with me on Monday knowing she would be out of the office on Monday. On Monday *** called me at 5 pm stating *** would be at my house at 7 pm to pick up the TV. *** showed up before 6 pm when I was not home from work and refused to pick the TV up from my daughters stating it needed to be completely in the box when it was in the damaged box they delivered in the first place. I immediately called Squaretrade and got *** who told me he would call *** and call me back. It told him two hours to call back and still had no resolution and as of today 7/30 the damaged TV is still at my house. Squaretrade has 7-10 to open and close a claim. We are on day number 9 and all I have is a damaged TV, a bunch of false promises, apologizes and lies. No one can tell me when my TV will be replaced. They are rude and unprofessional and I need my TV replaced immediately.

Allstate Protection Plans Response • Aug 05, 2019

We also utilize authorized purchasing and shipping resources for the delivery of this product in order to prevent concerns with delivery, though we understand that has not been the consumer's experience.
