SCAM! I would give a rating of 0 stars if possible. I noticed that over 250 reviews show 1 star rating on average... not surprised. Simply put, this company employs deceptive and unethical business practices. I bought a 50" HD TV 4 years ago and purchased an extended warranty for 4 extra years (5 total including manufacturers warranty) because HD TV's were relatively new and I wanted protection in case of potential defects. I bought the TV on 111/18/2014 and it was delivered on 12/1/2014 (through ***). I was solicited by email on January 15, 2015 by SquareTrade to extend the warranty - which I did and paid nearly $150 for the extended 5 year warranty. 4 years later there was a panel defect (dark shadows in various quadrants), so I called SquareTrade to have it fixed or replaced. To my shock, I was told I never had a warranty, and that they could not help me. They said that I only had 30 days to purchase the warranty, otherwise it was considered a "used" TV and therefore NO warranty. At the time of the warranty purchase (1/15/2015) my TV was 45 days beyond the delivery date. In applying for the extended warranty, I got an email from SquareTrade confirming the warranty and providing the policy details - which indicated I was covered for 5 years if new (less than 30 days old) and 5 years if "used". SQUARETRADE ACCEPTED AND KEPT MY PAYMENT OF $149 FOR FIVE YEARS, EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO WARRANTY IN EFFECT. In my humble opinion this is deceptive and unethical at least, and potentially FRAUDULENT behavior at most. It's no wonder the average rating is ONE STAR. Do yourself a favor and DON'T purchase the extended warranty from what I believe is a dishonest company.

The customer service reps are always very nice on the phone, unfortunately I cannot say the same for the actual service. I had an iphone under their warranty and it broke. They sent me a replacement phone which was supposed to be “like new,” however the battery did not even last 30 minutes. When I called back, they sent me out another phone. This phone was even worse than the first one, even including the statement under the battery settings “your battery’s health is significantly degraded” and said it needed a new battery. Since I did not want to go through the continued hassle of getting yet another poor quality replacement phone from them, I requested to just have the battery replaced at a local repair shop. They would not allow this and insisted the only option I have is to be sent a third replacement phone. At this point this is completely ridiculous and I have been through 3 new fiberglass screen savers and countless hours on the phone with them, not to mention having phones that don’t work now for several weeks. I am so frustrated with this company and don’t recommend that anyone tries to use their iphone warranty service.

ZERO STARS! I purchased an extended warranty for my *** watch. When the screen shattered, I contacted square trade (via online chat) and was told where to send the watch AND to pay up front for the repair/replacement and I would be issued a refund after submitting my receipt online. After paying $255 to replace the watch through an *** authorized dealer (because *** will not repair shattered screens), I was told that they would not approve a "new" watch. NEVER was this information shared with me nor did I ever ask for a new watch. I did exactly what I was told to do by the customer service rep. They now claim that I am supposed to ask for a refurbished watch and then they will cover it. They did offer to refund my $77 warranty, but I am still out $255 for the new watch that I "purchased."

my computer has been no good from day one, they want me to send it out there to fix it,not going to happen,my info on my computer,I don,t want public, due to recent incident, where my debit card and bank account where hacked, they do help me fix my computer,I have no problem there,i,ve ben on the phone with them for numerous hors, and was told one time they would give me a new computer, ididn,t build this defective computer.but i,m now into it for ***and I want a new one

We apologize for any dissatisfaction with our resolution options.Squaretrade offers various resolutions dependent on the item and issue it is experiencing, and per the terms and conditions of our warranty contract these options are offered at our discretion. Squaretrade's primary intention with all items is offer repair, and only in instances where a repair is unavailable or unfeasible do we move to alternative resolutions. Typically items which have experienced failures from day one are not eligible for coverage, as Squaretrade does not cover items with pre-existing conditions. Being that we have offered service and a resolution on this warranty we are unable to offer any alternative resolutions to the consumer at this time.

Hi,
I bought a TV with *** in May 2015 and purchased the product with Square Trade. on 9/20/2018 my TV when turned on had some black spots and lines on the right corner of the screen. When I raised a claim it automatically got closed stating that there is accidental damage. The TV does not even have any scratch or broken on any part of the screen and at the back as well. The TV is good as is as we bought. When I called Square Trade I am not getting enough help and they are advising it has accidental damage without sending a technician even to review the TV.

The TV do not have any crack on outside anywhere and there is not even a scratch. Square trade says it has an accidental damage and I see this as a mechanical damage

I do not want to give even one rating

We apologize for any misunderstanding regarding our TV warranties.Squaretrade TV warranties include extensive coverage against a variety of hardware or electrical failures, such as the item not powering on or display distortion. None of our TV policies include coverage against physical or accidental damage, and when provided images of this consumer's item there were clear indications of severe physical damage internally. These images were reviewed by several Squaretrade specialists, all of which have been extensively trained to address these types of concerns.Due to this we cannot approve any claims for this item, and we have refunded the full purchasing price of the warranty.

I purchased *** smart TV on 09/07/2016 with 3 years warranty from *** I have been experiencing some issues with this TV for the last to months. The tv automatically turn itself off in 3 to 4hrs intervals, but for the last weeks the TV start turning itself almost every 20 -30min is unable to connect with wifi. so 09/20/2018 I called *** and explain the problem to them. they said my warranty is still current so they transfer me Square Trade. after I explain the issue I have been experiencing with the TV,they said this is software issue and send me to technical support. the guy on technical support spend almost 1hr and half to solve this problem and finally he decided to call ***or help on three way phone. the *** customer representative spend may be 15min and decide the problem is from the tv software version and need software version update. since the TV couldn't connect to wifi, they decide to use manual USB software update. they send me instruction through email. I try to follow the complicated instruction to the best of my knowledge and try to update the TV with no success. next day I called back and try the same thing with another technician doing the same thing. finally I ask the technician if they can send someone to solve this issue. he keep telling me to try something different. then I request to speak with manager, after I waited 20min, I got manager on the phone and he start doing the same thing all over again. I told him we have been doing this for two days, I asked him if they can send out their technician. he just insist to send me to LG technician to get help on the phone, I told him they did the same thing yesterday. I keep telling him that I have warranty and they need to send someone to diagnose and fix, they basically dragging this so I just quite calling. this is totally wrong and very disappointing. i'm not using my smart tv now. I spend more than 4hrs on phone with them with no help.need help.

We apologize for any inconvenience experienced during the claims process.Squaretrade TV warranties include extensive coverage against hardware and electrical failures, but none of our policies include coverage against device software. Squaretrade specialists are extensively trained to help consumers troubleshoot potential software issues, or to utilize resources which can assist such as the manufacturer. In this instance we are unable to approve the consumer's claim because the manufacturer has indicated updating the item's firmware will resolve it's issues, indicating software to be the cause of the failure. Per our last contact with the consumer this firmware update had not been implemented, and if this step has been completed with no improvement we would request additional contact to our TV department to verify the next steps in the process.

I bought a brand new tablet from *** and a 2 year accident protection plan from Square Trade for the tablet on Febuary 2017. The tablet accidentally fell and the screen cracked. I filed a claim, and a Square Trade representative told me that my plan does not cover accidents. He offered to refund the money I paid for the plan instead. I need them to fix my tablet, and not to refund what I paid for the plan. Will I ever buy another plan from them or even recommending Square Trade? NO WAY!!!! I will spend 10 minutes of my days to post a review on all possible sites. This is just thievery.

My original claim was ignored so I called to cancel my warranty and was assured if I kept my account open that my claim would be handled if I simply resubmitted my original receipt from the repair. No such luck. I found a spam email that I needed to call again to reopen my claim. Isn't that why I did when I was on the phone for an hour not closing my account? I called today to cancel again and nobody even asked why or addressed my claim. Horrible, awful customer service. *** should be ashamed and embarrassed. My account is closed and nobody even attempted to offer me a satisfactory consolation like refunding me back to my original claim in May 2018.

I Purchased a warranty on a printer. When I needed to cash in on it they gave me almost $100 less than the advertised coverage. I asked *** to step in and it was obviously too late for them to do anything. In this day and age companies should try to please their customers. ***
Anyhow squaretrade told me to take my low payout and kick rocks. Karma is coming...

What used to be a great insurance company slowly became a scam. I purchased a *** 70" TV three years ago. The price at that time *** was $2100. The TV stopped working about 2 weeks ago. I was happy that I purchased a SquareTrade insurance from ***. After filing a claim with SquareTrade and uploading additional information that was required, they asked me to call and talk to their technician/specialist.
After being on the phone and going through some steps and procedures to reboot the TV with their specialist, we were not successful. She asked me to take some photos of the TV screen and to upload the pictures to them so they can troubleshoot and analyse further. So far I had no complaints and everything that they asked for was just standards procedures. After I uploaded the pictures their specialist determined that my TV can not be repaired and they will replace it with another one. This is where the problem, their rudeness, and scam began. They were offering me a *** brand TV as a replacement. The *** for this specific model they were offering is $799.
When I was purchasing the insurance for my TV, they charged me the top tier of their insurance plan (that will be for TV's over $1000) but now they are offering a replacement that is worth only $799 or even lower. Never realized that *** and *** are in the same category. If I wanted to purchase *** three years ago I would have done that then. When I called them and talk to one of their reps at replacement sourcing department, who was extremely rude, I was told that their policy is to replace the TV with another one with an equal features and functionality. In other words, if we compare this to cars, they are telling me if I had a *** that had 4 doors, 4 tires/wheels, and had 6 cylinders they will be replacing that vehicle with a *** or *** that has 4 doors, 4 tires/wheels, and 6 cylinders because to them both cars have equal features and functionality. Now that's a beautiful scam.
Oh, forgot to mention, the email that I received from them on Sept. 5th indicated that the replacement TV may be new or refurbished. A junk refurbished ***. Additionally, I asked their sourcing dept rep that in their policy terms and conditions it indicates that they may replace or provide cash settlement for the TV, but the rep straight out told me that this option is not available to me. When I asked him who is it available to, he just said that it's not available to you, period. If I can't get my *** TV replaced with another *** model, I rather get the cash settlement and purchase one myself. So I wasted almost $100 for an insurance that is worthless. Unfortunately I have 3 TV's and purchased SquareTrade insurance on all of them. What a waste. Reading other reviews, it appears this is a common practice with this company. Will not recommend anyone to waste their money on this scam.

To whom it may concern
I’m righting this because of the way this company treats customers.
We had a problem with our TV back in September and we received a TV which was fine except for the fact it was refurbished in 2010 not wat was stated on the TV pick witch was 2017 or newer and it had problems too, so we contacted Square Trade about the issues and we went through the same procedure as before with the exception of they wanted pictures so we done that to prove it was the TV they sent us. Then after that we had communication vie E-Mail to state they will have the TV picked up then let them Know and then they will order another TV for us, I ask them so we have to do with out a TV until you get one sent to us, I said you can deliver and pick up the same day they still said no. So this means that we have to suffer due to the fact of there screw up. I believe that customer service is out the window with this company so all I see about all state is a lie’s because this is a part of all state insurance.

I bought a laptop warranty on 2/23/2017 through Amazon for 117.77. This warranty was to cover a new laptop my son had just received for a gift. I confirmed before purchasing the warranty if it would cover my laptop and I was told yes. As long as it was bought within 30 days and I uploaded the receipt. I did all of that and was under impression everything was good. Today 9/6/2018 I call to file a claim and was told I had the wrong warranty. That they will just refund me my total price. They claim that on the website now it says only products purchased by Amazon. That was not true when I bought the warranty or when I called them. The contract that I have does not state either. I tried to get this resolved through customer service but was not able to. I have the receipts and contract that I can send or upload.

We apologize for any inconvenience that the consumer might have experienced during this process.

As much as we would like to assist the consumer with their problem we cannot do so due to our contracts with our insurer's which specifically stipulate that we are not to offer repair assistance to warranties that are purchased invalidly.

The consumer mentioned that they did not see any information relating to invalidly purchased warranties on Amazon's website. This could have been a situation where the consumer might have missed reading the information which is clearly featured on the very same home page where you find the "Add to Cart" button.

In the information under "Note" on the fifth and last bullet point it clearly states:

- Square Trade Protection Plans are only valid for new products purchased at Amazon within the last 30 days.

Due to the information above we sincerely apologize once again, but we at this point all we are able to do is have the warranty refunded to the consumer as per our policy in these cases.

Not a Square Trade and took over 2 weeks calling myself to follow up and resolve misscommunication between reps. Assigned Tech never made the service appointment. When I called the Tech to see where he was, he was rude, and lied claiming the costomer SOMETIMES calls the tech to let them know the parts arrived. As per the email, when the parts arrive, the tech will call the customer to reconfirm the appointment. BSing texh tree the blame on Squa Trade. Over a 2 weeks period, I had to initiate the calls to get my T.V. fixed. Had to call for a S.T. manager who was going to give me a new comparable TV. I spent $over $2,600.00 on the 1st one and they wanted to give me TV $600.00. I got nowhere with this company but the run around and blame passing. *** made good on it, not this *** run company. Bad tech phone support who I couldn't understand, bad service tech who B.S., bad manager who thaught my request was a joke and laughed, numerous phone calls and emails with no resolution. This is a legit money making scam working through loopholes and nothing square about the purchased warranty.

I won't give it one star unless I have to and that would be only because they do well at taking your money. I told *** how could I give a review before this, the policy has 19 months left in it, and I can't begin to file a claim. I didn't understand how *** have so many good reviews, My opinion is this is a scam, rip off, and cheating people out of what money they have!!

I’m only giving 1 star because that’s lowest score. We filed a claim after my husband’s phone broke. We’re now on phone 3 that’s been sent out. The first replacement phone wouldn’t connect to the network 95% of the time. The second phone was shipped out with a broke screen. The third phone can’t be activated, it’s locked. We’re still waiting for the forth phone to arrive. Square trade has done nothing to rectify this problem. After this contract is up we’ll be looking for different phone insurance.

I sent an expensive computer to SquareTrade for repair ( they only the Main Board only needed to be replaced according to them). There were no damages to my computer before I sent it to them, not even a scratch. They sent my computer back to me damaged. My monitor screen was cracked and broken at the top and the tower was broken and dented. Terrible customer service

do not trust this company they will try to convince you that they can fix your tv with software until it fails the they will send a tech out that does not show up until the next day .he made my wife sign the work order like he completed the job when in fact he never even set foot in my house then sat in my driveway for 45 minutes like a stalker!! buyer beware of this shady as company

I was told in *** the deductible was $100 & it is $129. False information to get insurance with Square Trade! Pathetic!

there customer service needs training cannot resolve any problems or know the answers to them

This company is awful! When you purchase a warranty from them just so you know they won't cover you for the amount that you paid. They just don't care about their reputation AT ALL.
Advertised that they would cover $300-350, then when I made a claim for my printer they only wanted to give me $224. Scammers. I think this company should go out of business.
