I regularly attend the East Orange, NJ location. I will say that one of the trainers is very unprofessional. After an uncomfortable encounter with this trainer, I started avoiding him and he took it very personally. He started making defamatory remarks about me to other people in front of members...telling people to stay away from me because I'm a "crazy, bipolar ho." I have been a Blink Member for almost two years now with no lapse.

I can't believe a major company like this would allow a trainer this unprofessional to work at any facility. It's sad because Blink East Orange really is a really nice gym.

The manager Jose at the 54th street location is a rude person. He should not be working where he meets customers. He opened up a fresh mouth to both my wife and myself on different times and told us if we did not like it go find another gym.

It does seem that the best option for you would be to send a certified letter requesting cancellationAs stated previously, if you provide us with a medical note stating you are unable to travel to cancel we will be happy to work with you.

Hello,
As stated in previous email communication with this member, cancellations are processed by either visiting the club, filling out a cancellation form at the front desk, or by submitting a certified letter to Blink Member Services.
"line-height: 1em;">We practice this methodology as it does provides a receipt of cancellation for the member in the event something isn't processed properlyWe do require a day notice with a pro-rate to be collected from the date the cancellation form is signed or from the date the mail is postmarkedThis is our policy for all members and is stated on each membership contract as wellThere is no record of cancellation on file for this member's account, meaning no note or copy of the cancellation form/letter requesting cancellation
Despite sending multiple past due notifications via email, to the same email address used to contact us and that is listed on the member's account, we received no response until days before the membership was set to cancel due to final notice collectionsThree months of dues must accrue before the account is set to cancel and is sent to collections.
The account was cancelled on 11/**/but the balance must be cleared in order for the account to be officially closed.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

After I saw that website took my informations from what was saved on my computer I went to the facility, state them that was not my intention to be their member and there was a fraud asked for helped; they said their manager was not there they cannot help me solve the problem. I did not used their services with my photo id or anything and if they think I used their facilities with my photo id on September and October I will kindly ask for a proof with their so called safety cameras please because I am tired of explainning myself I have never used their services and I should not be harassed for an on going fraud causing by their lack of security on my behalf. I am happily using planet fitness fitness facilities without any problems or lack of customer service and again I have never used blink fitness services or asked for their membership they should stop harassing me.

They don't have a cancellation on record because they refused to cancel my service. I'm objecting to the "1 year obligation"At signup, it was never made clear what the employee was selling me included a 1 year obligation. The marketing around both offerings were identical. I went down to the gym today and went through the signup process. 1 year obligation was never mentioned up until the point I was asked for my credit card.I was under the impression that I would pay you until I no longer wanted to attend the gym, at which point I would stop paying you and my membership would be cancelled. Not that I would have to pay forward 45 days and pay a cancellation fee.

I, [redacted], attempted to contact Blink member [redacted] on 5/**/15. I left a voicemail and provided my cell phone number. As per the membership agreement signed by the member, Blink's two...

ways to cancel are by signing a Request for Cancellation form at any Blink location front desk, or by sending a letter addressed to [redacted] via certified mail. As per the terms of the agreement, Blink assesses a 45-day prorate for the cancellation, and a $60 buyout fee within the member's first 12 months. Member sent certified cancellation letter to Blink Member Services. Effective cancellation date of 3/**/2015. Balance of $72.90 remains on account, which includes the $12.90 45-day prorate and $60 buyout fee consistent with Blinks cancellation terms and conditions.

Blink Member Services

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. The cancellation policy is listed on the website, in the FAQ section, in the terms and conditions upon joining, as well as on the kiosk upon joining. It details that all members must provide 45 days written notice when cancelling. This implies...

that you must pay for the final usage period. when a member joins they must pay for the time they are going to utilize the club in advance. If a potential member is unwilling to pay the amount, then they are not able to join. The same scenario applies when providing their final 45 days notice. When cancelling, members must pay for their final usage period of time. This is their final payment with Blink fitness prior to the effective date of cancellation. The prorate is paid when a member cancels at the facility or when the certified letter is received at the corporate office. We do apologize that you were not given the corporate contact information for member services. Since this information was not provided to you, we have cancelled your account based on your original request date, 3/**/16. Your cancellation effective date is 5/**/16. The final payment for the account is $9.44 for the 14 days in May.

We wish you well and thank you for being a Blink member.

Hello,

We've looked into this matter and see that the account was requested to be cancelled on 12/*/15 and a $10.62 prorate was collected. However, the member did in fact have a past due balance of$15.68 as we were unable to collect payment for the 11/**/15 billing cycle which...

paid for the month of December. We do apologize if there was a miscommunication that occurred. After the account was cancelled, we did send emails and made phone calls alerting the member of the remaining balance. To ensure the account is closed, the balance must be cleared. To make a payment, please log on to [redacted] or simply stop by any Blink location. You can also call Blink billing account services at[redacted] where you can speak with a billing representative Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm. If you call after hours, please feel free to leave a message which will be returned by a representative during the next business day.
Best,
Blink Member Services

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

This response in no way acknowledges the circumstances.  The employees that they hired to work for and represent their company lied about their policies and would not give me the opportunity to check them at the beginning.  Attached is evidence that I have reached out to this company and have heard nothing back.  As you will note, the email matches their reply back to us, leading me to believe that they never actually read that customer service email if this is the first they are hearing of the issue.
I cannot produce proof in the method they are asking because none can be produced in the way that their employee said it would be handled on the phone.  I got no confirmation numbers, no paperwork, only an assurance that my membership was indeed cancelled.  This was a falsification.  Paperwork was not submitted, and I only learned later of their cancellation process, which was not made clear to me at the time of signing up, or made public anywhere for me to seek out on my own.  As mentioned before, when signing up, the employee was visibly and verbally irritated, and rushed me through the process without letting me read the contract in full, and I did not receive one via email as the current assistant manager claims I should have.  As far as I was aware, based on the false information given to me by the employees, my account was cancelled.

The business has responded.  Please see below:
After receiving the letter from the Revdex.com, I contacted [redacted] to discuss her feedback. I apologized for the confusion and the inconvenience as it is a very easy process to cancel a membership. I explained the way to cancel and offered [redacted] the opportunity to cancel from the date she visited the club. [redacted] will honor the cancellation policy that was agreed upon when she joined. I will be cancelling her membership with proper notice and collecting all standard cancellation dues.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

When I originally called my local Blink Fitness center I was not advised that I was required to complete a cancellation form. Blink Fitness continues to bill me for my membership even though I have not use the gym since September **, 2015. I tried to cancel my membership in person by going into my local Blink Fitness center and was told I that I needed to satisfy the outstanding balance on my account. Therefore, the continue to bill me for services that I am not using.  I am willing to pay for one month of service in order to cancel but not for 3 months.

At the time of purchase as well as in the agreement we ask for a 45 cancellation notice. The following is from our agreement that all members acknowledge upon joining, “I understand this Agreement is for a minimum of twelve (12) months after which time I may terminate my membership at any time by...

providing 45 days' written notice either in person at the club or by certified or registered mail to Blink”. As far as being charged $60 to cancel, this does not apply since you would have fulfilled your agreement and would have been within the 45 day notice period.
