Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/26) */
Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files and our records show that [redacted] signed up for our Cover Letter Builder services on June 1, 2015. The copy online clearly...
provided [redacted] with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted] chose to accept our offer for 14 day full access, which automatically renews monthly. On the page where [redacted] made that selection, immediately adjacent to the choice of subscriptions, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that the 14 day premium access ''automatically renews at $39.80 per month on the 15th day''. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on June 16, 2015 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on June 16, 2015 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on June 16, 2015 [redacted]'s card was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 1 monthly charge totaling $39.80. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $39.80 as of August 12, 2015.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files and our records show that [redacted] signed up for our Resume Builder services on March 2, 2015. The copy online clearly provided [redacted] with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted] chose to accept our offer for 14 day full access, which automatically renews monthly. On the page where [redacted] made that selection, immediately adjacent to the choice of subscriptions, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that the 14 day premium access ''automatically renews at $35.80 per month on the 15th day''. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on March 17, 2015 to our monthly service at $35.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. [redacted] contacted our customer service team and cancelled her subscription within the 14 days of full access. Because of a glitch in our system, our customer service team charged [redacted] for the renewal fee of $35.80 on March 17, 2015.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused [redacted]. Our customer service team refunded her 1 monthly charge of $35.80 on April 27, 2015. She will not receive any more charges from LiveCareer going forward.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2014/09/04) */
You closed my case without my input to their response. This company charged me $39.80 on my Associated Bank Credit Card and the transaction needs to be reversed. As per their letter to me, I did not sign up for any of their services, and they should not have charged me.

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files and our records show that [redacted]'s daughter Tabitha signed up for our Resume Builder services on July 7, 2014. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on July 22, 2014 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on July 22, 2014 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on July 22, 2014, [redacted]'s card, which Tabitha provided, was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 1 monthly charge totaling $39.80. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $39.80 on September 5, 2014.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.
Consumer Response /* (4200, 16, 2014/09/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I accept the refund but I do not accept their explanation. It is the same explanation they used for 265 other people, and that amount of people had the same issue, being led into an unwanted subscription. So yes, I am satisfied with the refund, and no, I am not satisfied with their explanation as it is untruthful and intentionally deceptive. Thanks and as long as the refund is posted I will accept the case closing.
Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/09/03) */
Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files and our records show that [redacted]'s relative [redacted] signed up for our Resume Builder services on August 24, 2014. The copy online...

In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on September 7, 2014 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how Derek could cancel before this monthly charge.
Since the subscription was canceled prior to the automatic renewal scheduled for September 7, 2014. [redacted]'s card, which [redacted] provided, was only charged the initial subscription fee of $2.95 by LiveCareer. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about the foreign transfer fees incurred by [redacted], as these charges are from her bank.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/09/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The only sentence pertaining to the complaint is the very last one. I understand about subscription and cancelling, and have no problem with whatever they wish to charge for monthly service.
I am very frustrated as I am unable to get a clear answer about the foreign transfer fees. Two different representatives from BMO Harris told me that the foreign transfer fees are not from the bank. I will visit my bank tomorrow, 9/13 to show them LiveCareer's answer. I will update with new information in the afternoon.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/09/24) */
Thank you again for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. Our customer service team has reviewed our records and confirmed that as stated in our earlier response, [redacted]'s card was only charged the initial subscription fee of $1.95 by LiveCareer.
Unfortunately, LiveCareer cannot refund charges that were not made by us. As such, there is nothing we can do about the foreign transfer fee charges of $.03 that [redacted] refers to in her complaint.
We hope this resolves this matter.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/08/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First of all, anyone who reads reviews on this company, Googles this company or looks at their Facebook posts can see that people getting ripped off is a regular event for Live Career. They have fooled many people with this including us until I, instead of my wife, opened the monthly credit card statement expecting to see a $42.30 charge. I saw Live Career had a charge on there and called them right away. For them to State in their response to this matter that the confirmation I received clearly stated I would be switching to from a free account to a subscription of any kind after 14 days is absolutely false and I dug up the document which I will provide the Revdex.com if you wish. In fact here is an exert-
"Account Management
If for any reason you do not want to take advantage of your free LiveCareer membership, you may delete this account."
This confirmation is the one and only correspondence I received from them. The key word is FREE. I already had a new job and by formality had to provide a one time free resume not a $477.60 a year scam preying on people not paying attention. I now have taken the time to save the original email and gather the actual moneys we feel were stolen from us. In this response section I do not see a way to attach the original confirmation email but will gladly send it in its entirety to the Revdex.com upon request. I think the $199 credit Live Career gave me is a start. But I am not going to be finished with this until I receive the rest of the money taken on my FREE account. The total taken was 11 payments of $39.80 totaling $437.80. Subtracting the $199 I was recently credited after getting the Revdex.com involved I am still owed $238.80. I expect to receive the $238.80 in credits and at that time I will call it good. It taught me to keep a better eye on things as people are out there looking to be dishonest with you.

We are not able to provide additional refunds.

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files using the email address [redacted] provided in her complaint, and our records show that [redacted] used our Resume Builder services on...
October 16, 2014.
After asking each user for their name and email address, the Resume Builder gives them the option of uploading an existing resume and/or choosing a resume template to use in creating a new resume. After proceeding through these first two steps, the user comes to a page saying "Congratulations! You now have access to all of our free services." On this page, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that one of the free services offered is the ability to "Download the .txt version of your resume." [redacted] chose to click continue at the bottom of this page and begin creating a resume. Accordingly, upon completing her resume, [redacted] was given the option to either download the .txt version of the resume, or upgrade for instant access to all offered features.
Although our premium features are not offered free of charge, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a PDF copy of her completed resume as a courtesy. The completed resume was sent to the email addresses she provided on October 22, 2014.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files and our records show that [redacted] signed up for our Resume Builder services on November 17, 2015. The copy online clearly provided...
[redacted] with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on December 2, 2015 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on December 2, 2015 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on December 2, 2015 [redacted]'s card was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 2 monthly charges totaling $79.60. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $79.60 as of January 26, 2016.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

Although it would have been nice to hear about my refund from the customer service representative I spoke with (who told me I could NOT have a refund), I am satisfied.

After I told then I was going to speak to the Revdex.com, only then did I receive good customer service.I hope after all of this they improve as a business in the future. My debit card was stolen this weekend ,and obviously I can't prove anything when it comes to them in regards to that. The card has been cancelled. The company itself did right as far as fixing the problem ,eventually. I would advise the management team take a look at some of the employees working there ,or at the very least have a program to have deal with customer service better. The last person I talked to was pretty rude to me. I'm sure the management there is better at dealing with customers. It was resolved so I'm moving on now. Not sure who [redacted] is ,but I did receive a few refunds. I think thay email speaks for itself ,when it comes to the employees that work there. The management team there has some work to do to weed out the bad ones.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am very grateful for the three refunds afforded to me, however I must respectfully disagree with the businesses assertion that I was woefully knowledgeable of the repeated charges that would occur if I did not cancel my membership. Upon further research, Google and other search engines show multiple other people who have complained about this business and in similar form as myself. A total of seven (7) months were charged and three were refunded. I would like to request that myperfectresume refund two more months to me and I will respectfully drop my complaint for the other two months. Should this issue not be resolved, I respectfully wish to bring to the businesses attention, that I have filed a complaint with the FTC and also the Louisiana Attorney General's office. I'm hoping we can meet at a better outcome and I am very grateful for the business of all parties involved.
