Live Career offered a FREE resume. After I completed my FREE resume I tried to save & print. Then they required $.96 so I paid the $.96 with a bank card(April 23, 2015) The very same day they withdrew $1.01 from my bank card. May 8, 2015 they withdrew $40.20. I only authorized the $.96. May 11, 2015 I emailed, tried to chat & was disconnected then I called & spoke to [redacted]. She had her replies memorized. I demanded an immediate refund of $41.21. She said she could only probate the refund of $29. She placed me on hold. I was disconnected after a few minutes.
[redacted] did email me a subscription sales page for $1.95. So why the initial $.96? Then another transaction for $1.01? $1.95 v $1.97? I never saw the so called "Subscribtion Sales Page" when I completed my FREE resume.

with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted] chose to accept our offer for 14 day full access, which automatically renews monthly. On the page where [redacted] made that selection, immediately adjacent to the choice of subscriptions, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that the 14 day premium access ''automatically renews at $39.80 per month on the 15th day''. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on July 11, 2015 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on July 11, 2015 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on July 11, 2015 [redacted]'s card was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 1 monthly charge totaling $39.80. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $39.80 as of July 16, 2015.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/06/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I spent a day, making a resume and cover letter, only to find that when I wanted to keep it, I was unable to because it was not FREE as advertised. All you can do for free is to play around with their templates, not transfer the information in correct format to use. Only as text, can you save it which makes the information look ridiculous so my day was a bit of a waste of time.
Except that I now hope to save others from wasting their time in the same way. I complained on their live chat and was told that it plainly says that it is a free trial. I was not double-check that wording as every time I googled the company, my useless resume comes up and not their first page. Luckily, my daughter was able to pull up the site and it say nowhere on it that you will not be able to use the information once it is completed, without paying for it. FREE is VERY misleading. I lost no money, like other feedback I have since seen posted elsewhere, so that is my days silver-lining.
Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We greatly appreciate her feedback and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience she experienced while using our site.
We value our customers here at BOLD and try our best to ensure that our site is as clear and consumer friendly as possible. As such, we will take Ms. [redacted]’s comments into consideration as we continue to improve upon our site and services.
Regarding the monthly charges, our monthly charges are not refundable. However, we value our customers here at BOLD and want to do all that we can to resolve any issues they may have. As such, our customer service team has provided [redacted] with 5 refunds in the amount of $199.00. Unfortunately at this time, we are not able to provide any additional refunds.

When I spoke to the agent at Livecareer I gave them the email I signed up under as well as the card number. Since this is a public site I cannot post that information. They do have the email address I signed up on as well as the credit card because they gave me a $9 credit but not the whole amount as I requested.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I will accept the response if I am refunded the $196.65 which is the remaining balance from the $236.45. I am aware that it was my mistake by not canceling the account, however, I think this company could do a better job being more clear about their membership fees. I never received emails each month when my card was charged monthly. I researched the website and saw that many people had the same situation occur and they were being charged unknowingly. It seems the company was being deceitful. They can look on my account and see that the only time I accessed their resources was for the one resume. In conclusion, I was never told I would be refunded any money but the prorated fee for that exact month. I was told a refund was not an option. If I knew I would be given a fair amount of money back, I would not have needed to file a complaint.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/06) */
Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]'s daughter signed up for our Resume Builder services on October 15, 2013. The copy online clearly provided [redacted]'s daughter with a choice of full...
access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted]'s daughter chose to accept our offer for 14 day full access, which automatically renews monthly. On the page where [redacted]'s daughter made that selection, immediately adjacent to the choice of subscriptions, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that the 14 day premium access ''automatically renews at $34.95 per month on the 15th day''. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on October 30, 2013 to our monthly service at $34.95 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted]'s daughter could cancel before this monthly charge. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/04/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Although I would have appreciated that the entire amount be refunded, I appreciate that an exception was made to refund a portion of my payment. Thank you. I also highly recommend that, from now on, the company notify their clients who are "inactive" so that clients who are not using the service will remember to cancel their subscription or perhaps start using the services that are provided for that fee.
