Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/02/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It is actually 4 months of charges at $39.80 per month. Company confirmed these charges were made to credit card and account already / which is under [redacted]@live.com.
Verified. This is just another example of shady practices used to scam customers.

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted] signed up for our Cover Letter Builder services on October 21, 2014. The copy online clearly provided [redacted] with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted] chose to accept our offer for 14 day full access, which automatically renews monthly. On the page where [redacted] made that selection, immediately adjacent to the choice of subscriptions, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that the 14 day premium access ''automatically renews at $39.80 per month on the 15th day''. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on November 5, 2014 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on November 5, 2014 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on November 5, [redacted]'s card was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 4 monthly charge totaling $39.80. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $159.20 as of January 31, 2015.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

They state that the refund was made on July 2nd, however the refund has not reflected as of today, July 8th. They sent an email stating that they issued the refund, however no account information was verified as to where the refund was issued.
Furthermore their website is setup so as to not enable you to cancel the service nor to submit complaints through their site. They need to either fix their website so that you can cancel service online, or conspicuously state that in order to ensure cancellation you must call a customer service representative to cancel service.

While everything they provide is correct, the issue is that the account was canceled prior to the the automatic renewal date.
But I appreciate they realized the error and refunded the amount due.

I am confused why so many people are unaware of this monthly charge and why so many people are upset they are not getting a total refund when they find out months later they are being charged with no email notification or billing statement mailed to them.
Very unhappy with this company and will not recommend them. Why are people still being billed after they asked to be removed from the subscription. this company should not be in business.

When I spoke to the agent at Livecareer I gave them the email I signed up under as well as the card number. Since this is a public site I cannot post that information. They do have the email address I signed up on as well as the credit card because they gave me a $9 credit but not the whole amount as I requested.
