My laptop is still under warranty until 5/2017, I called Dell today, about an issue with the computer 3/8/17, what happened was two pins flew out of the left side of the computer opens and closes, this caused the top to come down because the whole left side was out of the hinge When the lid was coming down, it hit where the pin came out, and it made a scratch on the screen this scratch then spider webbed I use this computer daily and there has neve3r been a problem with it, it scared me when the pin flew out and I noticed screws were missing now, also the keyboard is acting very strangely half of it is lit up, the other isn't, the keys don't work when you hit the keys it takes a while for words to show up This is also a touchscreen, so I can't use that anymore I feel this is a defect from the company, I feel it should be fixed under warranty I was on the phone with them for hours today, explaining this, and they were only focusing on the screen not what caused the scr

Inspiron series hinge failure defect- My laptop had the same issue after light use - the screw failure has caused the LCD case to separate on my unitThe screw had no locktite visible Technician report: I am seeing more of these cracked open laptops come to my shop and every single one of them were lacking locktite on the fasteners/screwsThe locktite is the blue paint looking material at the end of the screws The bottom of these screws should be completely blue if an adequate amount of locktite were appliedThese laptops have none at all or a small patch on one side of the screw Every single screw is loose on these models because of it The hinges are absolutely fine it is the looseness of the screws causing a cascade chassis support failureIt begins by some screws coming loose resulting in more stress placed on adjacent tighter screws near the hingesThis higher than stress causes the chassis to crack at the hinges later causing complete hinge separatio
