I subscribed to a full membership through the Roomster app on my mobile device
The membership I paid was a short trial of five days per $on 07/**/
I read the terms of use and I acknowledged that there was an automatic renewal if I didn't cancel my paid membership before the end of the subscription periodI also made sure to read how to cancel the subscription in the terms of use of the company: "You can cancel your Full Membership subscription at any time by (i) logging in to the Service, (ii) clicking on the “Settings” button located under the “Account” tab found on your member home page, and (iii) clicking on the “Subscription” link and choosing “Cancel my Subscription”
The problem is that according to these instructions which you can find on their website, there should be a button or link to cancel the subscriptionNone of these things are available, and there are no further instructions on their website and support service
So by making this process unfriendly, and
After responding to several seemingly realistic ads on *** while looking for roommates, I have also received several automated responses via text, after providing my phone number to the posts, that link me to the roomster website to get me to sign upTricking me into signing up for your website by creating fake advertisements in *** is not the way to gain loyal customers
So many issues with Roomster.Com Very deceptive business practices with bait-and-switch type advertising They claim free subscription, but you cannot see any of the responses without paying They have apartments listed that are not real And I cannot even into my account now to delete it None of the buttons work There is NO number for customer service, so no way to contact a person I found a number somewhere else, but only got a recording to go onto the site and go to support (which is not working) Going in circles Meanwhile, I am still getting charged
In August 2016, I signed up and agreed to pay a one-time $charge to use the website to find a roommate, and then I canceled my account a few days later because I had found a roommate and no longer needed to use the serviceThey continued to charge me $a month for three months, which I did not catch until reviewing my credit card statementsI contacted Roomster to dispute the charges, but they are claiming that their records show that I didn't cancel my account (even though I did), and they are refusing to refund the three $charges that I absolutely did not authorizeWhen I signed up, there was no indication that there would be any $monthly chargesI signed up with the understanding that I was only agreeing to a one-time $chargeThey failed to reflect that I canceled my account just a few days laterThis website is deliberately deceptive and misleading to trick young, broke students like me into paying large monthly feesI believe their actions shoul
Dear Sir or Madame,
I was looking for new housing on *** when I came across an ad for a room for rentI contacted the person through *** and was directed to ***Well, I logged back into Roomster and then I received a messageWell in order to read the message I had to pay Roomster $trial fee for five days It did say that when the trial was up that there would be a charge of $for a monthly subscriptionI didn't want that but when I went on to Roomster to try to cancel it the day before the trial was up I couldn't find out how
The next day I received an e-mail from PayPal that I have been charged for the monthly feeI contacted Roomster to see about getting a refund but all I got was a standard message about how when I signed up that at the end of the trial that I would go to the monthly membership and be charged $I wanted to cancel but they wouldn't cancel and refund my moneyI was able to cancel the membership but they would refund my mo
Roomster is a popular site to connect housemates Great idea Their advertising and subscription terms are misleading and dishonest The hook is low "trial" purchase period The wee miniscule terms tell you that auto subscriptions are more than 4x the initial fee So I message them and they respond that I purchased the renewal each month, I signed up for
The subscriber can choose day/$7.56Cdn, day/$18.99Cdn, or day/$trial Then they hook you in wee small terms to auto renew $per month They will continue to take your money until you say 'cancel'
The service is to pair housemates I bet 98% find housemate less than days Roomster crafted their site and terms to con people out of money, because who wants to buy months and months of a service such as this?
I've had mine listed for months only because I am busy working and no time to manage it Blindsided by the auto subscription where they hook you at and continually charge 4x the amount, they co
They post fake ads to lure you their siteThey initially ask for a subscription for a low fee of like $5.95to use their siteOnce that subscription is over, they automatically subscribed me again for $I did not authorize that transaction and tried to reach them to resolve this but have no phone numberI asked them via their online support but they're no help
I subscriped to a trial subscription that was for days on FridayNavigated the the website for a comtact number and how to cancel the subscription because I was not satisfied with what was offered when I was charged at 5:for a renewal subscription for a regular memberI immediately contacted the site admin through the website as I found that they have no contaxt number postedBut recieved no response for the rwo times I tried to send them messages to refund my accountI have since successfully canceled my subscription but have yet to hear back from there website AdminOr Customer Service
I am in the process of looking for a new place to liveIt is a tedious enough process, yet it has been made even more annoying by Roomster - BEWARE: if you respond to an ad that they post, they will request that you "** ** *** *** *** ***" (***); once they have your information, they will call youEVEN THOUGH THEY ARE EMAILING OR TEXTING YOU DIRECTLY
DO NOT SIGN UP
THIS IS A SCAM
I called out one of these people for texting me and am now being harassed by the number *** and the email ***
I signed up in early Sept and cancelled in late SeptThe entire concept is a huge messThey sent me hundreds and hundreds of "matches" even though they didn't fit the "match" requirements I requestedSo I had to read through 5-pager emails seeing if the roommate mates were right for me- then forward and email in one line somewhere in the middleThey did nothing but waste my time- I found a roommate through a logical profile type websiteI emailed and asked for my money back and was told noI was then charged in both Oct and Nov for services I had already cancelled- and certainly was not using I was not receiving any emails from them- so why would I be charged? I couldn't even access my account!
This company has an unscrupulous way of tricking people into paying for an expensive monthly charge- in order to use the service for only a couple daysSo I paid for the couple days, forgot to cancel, and it charged me around $I noticed the charge and understood it was my fault for not cancelingI immediately unsubscribed which I have a photo to proveNow my account was charged $AGAIN! So I've paid them $for almost zero service and they leave no phone number to call and complainSo I am left to file this complaint
HUGE SCAMRoomster took my money and continues to state that it's non refundable!! I literally used the trial for less than minutes because I recieved a message and got chargedTheir terms of use states a refund is possible "if there have been no Services rendered to the User." And I did not use the service AT ALL for anything and I still was not offered a refundI will be disputing the charge, but for everyone else, BE AWARE
I made an account to find a roommate and they instantly start saying all these people are messaging me and of course you have to buy a subscription to view the messagesI buy a subscriptions and there are no messages from anyonea scam that im sure is illegalstars DO NOT USE
The only way I've heard of Roomster is through the unavoidable messages sent through ***EverySingleTimeDozens of them with every housing postWithout ever getting to actually talk to anyone from there, just made up housing contact to get you to sign upWhen I decided to try it out, there was no way to get anything done without paying for it, despite the appearance that you couldNothing but a money grab through underhanded tactics
Roomster was not beneficial to me finding a roommateRoomster is full of fake pages and scamsI was unfairly charged $when I only purchased a day trialUpon purchasing day trial I was not made aware of the $chargeI did not sign up for a monthly subscription for a reason as I wanted to get a quick response from the people I contactedIt is unfair for Roomster to take $out for a trial and then unfairly authorize an extra charge
Greetings

NEVER USE roomster.com WHAT A FREAKING JOKEFirst off, the ppl who post on there aren't taking down posts when they are no longer availableSecond, they get you to pay for the first week and you are left to assume it is per weekOnce you pay, they end up sending you a *support* mssg telling you that you will be paying $per month after the first week is throughbut you never see that msg because its in a completely back end of the site you really wouldn't need to go toso then your card gets charged and you tell them that you would like to get a refundall they do is copy and paste that msg from earlier in the *support* section that you never seenso then you ask for a corporate office and they refuseI ASKED MULTIPLE TIMESCONTINUE REFUSAL to provide me with a numberSo I went the Revdex.com and wow, a lot of cruddy reviews here, no shock

I signed up for the $trial subscription and never authorized for my account to be charged $for a full subscription accountI only signed up for the $because I had to to be able to read the messages in the inboxThere was no disclosure stating that my account would auto renew for $after the days was upI have already contacted their "customer support" online team AND ALL I GET IS SAME RESPOND THAT I DID AND I NEVER SUSCRIBE FOR THIS OTHER THAN A DAY TRIALI want someone to contact me about my refund immediately
RIGHT NOW
I signed up for a 10-day trial and canceled prior to the days, but still got billed for an additional days I have contacted the company and they will not refund my money Also, I cannot disable my profile I keep disabling it, but it keeps re-enabling
Revdex.com files indicate a pattern of complaints concerning a renewal policy and deceptive advertisingConsumers are telling Revdex.com that they sign up for Roomster Corp.’s free or short-term trial but are surprised when they are charged a month’s subscription after the trial endsThese consumers report the disclosure of automatic renewal is not made clear to them at signup time and is buried in the terms and conditions page of the websiteOther consumers say that even when they follow the instructions to cancel the trial period within the required time frame, they still get charged for the next month’s subscription
