We have agreed to buyback this consumer's refrigerator.  They will not allow in warranty repair.

After he talked on the phone with GE tech support he said the switch wasn't defective since it still buzzed. It's a variable buzzer and should buzz at any setting. It wasn't and the repairman witnessed it. The repairman's paperwork he gave to us and  nowhere on it does he say no problem found. The only thing I can think of why GE isn't replacing the switch is that there must be major failures in the field and  they don't want to spend anymore money. If the send out another repairman he better have a replacement switch in his hand.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this consumer’s situation.   I attempted to reach K[redacted] by phone number [redacted] more than once this morning and the recording states that the subscriber I have dialed is not in service.  I was attempting to call Mr. [redacted] to once again offer to have our Factory Service Technician to come back out to service his in warranty unit.  I will also be happy to reimburse the consumer $100 for food loss. Please be advised that a new GE refrigerator was delivered to Mr. [redacted] on June 3, 2015 per a prorated agreement with him and GE. A partial reimbursement of the prorate price to him was processed today in the amount of...

$68.97. As a gesture of goodwill GE has also issued him a one-year letter of commitment for functional repairs a year beyond the manufacturer’s warranty.

 They agreed to exchange the fridge after I called non stop for days. It took 4 weeks to get the refrigerator and there were even problems with the delivery. First the delivery was late so we needed to switch days and then they showed up 6 hours early, luckily I was home!! I received a check for $100 to replace food however the name on the check is wrong and I have not heard back with regards to getting a new check and still have not heard back. I have also taken issue with the company that $100 does not cover the cost to replace food or the fact that I went 4 weeks with no fridge and had to eat out. I am still not satisfied with the outcome or the customer service I received.

 I take issue with[redacted] (not exactly sure if this is the correct spelling of his last name) response because at times he was rude and condescending. One of the parts for the refrigerator I had to research the part number myself and he he reluctantly agreed to provide it. Initially, he had offered a $100 reimbursement and the dairy compartment shelving. I informed him that there had been a conversation between the appliance store dealer and GE's ASM and I was informed by the dealer that the replacement unit would have the same features but would be slightly bigger. This turned out not to be the case. Furthermore, I was never given the option of a refund. [redacted] was adamant about same versus comparable replacement terminology. He also stated that I needed to understand he was not going to "rebuild my refrigerator" and I responded that I as a consumer deserved to get what I paid for. He even told me that I could go to the store ad look out other models to see what I thought was a comparable replacement but this was not to say he was willing to provide another unit. I went to my local [redacted] and looked at the same model as the replacement unit that I currently have and discovered that two of the shelves was in the model. The sale representative from [redacted] told me they were standards features and was willing to give me a written statement to that effect. [redacted] refused to accept that this was the case. The replacement model retails for $150 cheaper than the model I originally purchased which has subsequently been discontinued. His response to that was he was not going to provide shelving and pay out a $100 and that it was one or the other. He failed to accept that the unit I originally purchased had these shelves in addition to a full-width fresh food compartment with an adjustable temperature control. GE replaced my model with a cheaper unit that have less features. He acted like he was doing me a favor by providing these shelving even though they were part of the original unit. It appears he is using the $100 as a baseline for the purchase of the shelves that should have been part of the replacement unit. He was so rude in relating that he was not going to provide the shelving and a monetary reimbursement and initially any type of resolution was taken off the table. My husband contacted him and had a more amicable conversation with him and he agreed to provide just the shelving. My experience with GE from the repair to the replacement has been horrible and I am appalled at how they treat their customers. %

I spoke with the consumer on 12/11/15 and discussed her service history.  The local servicer Modern TV has order a smart board for her range and once it's in will call the consumer to schedule a return service call once the parts are in.  If this service doesn't satisfy the consumer then we will look at a prorate exchange option.Please contact me if there are any other questions or if I may be of
