Geek Support Live Reviews (519)

my computer system which was performing poorly was repaired expertly in a short period of time. I am pleased with the service. When I called back on a separate issue, Joseph B[redacted] was able to fix the issue very quickly. All is well now

I was contacted today from a Larry G[redacted] who stated he was a tech from Geek Support Live. The phone number was ###-###-####. Larry stated he was a [redacted] technical professional. His company received a notification that I had error messages on my computer, and he was calling to help me fix it. I immediately felt it was a scam since I was nowhere near my personal computer and have not logged on to it in at least a month. As I probed Larry he went on to state my contact information was tied to the serial number for the computer, so when the error messages came through the company knew who to call. This would also be incorrect, as my laptop was a gift and is not registered in my name. Larry (whose accent clearly indicated he was not Hispanic), shared that his mother was Hispanic and he did not speak Spanish at all (clearly). He went on to explain he wanted to first validate the errors by directing me through a series of prompts on my system, thus allowing me to view the errors myself. At this point the entire interaction was comical, so I played along to obtain the following information--The first set of directions took me to command/ctrl box in which he had a command 'assoc' for me to enter, then a series of clicks etc. He then had me close out, go back in to the system drivers, and walked me through a new set of commands and clicks that were to display the following error- 888DCA60FCOA....It was at that point I informed Larry that I used to be employed in technical support and am fully aware that his commands were to place the 'error' on my system in the first place in order to then 'see it' and I have no doubt, commit to some sort of obligation in order to resolve or even worse, that he would have had access to my computer. He was relentless, attempting to explain away the fallacies in his story. I thought maybe the company was simply being misrepresented; however in lieu of the reverse phone searches I have conducted in addition to reading just some of the many reviews posted here, these people are in fact a scam. I hope this helps someone not be a victim!

I am rejecting this response because: I was told that the company would perform technical analysis and support at no charge, but that after the service was completed, I would have to pay and an invoice was shown on my screen. I could not access my computer during this time. In essence, my computer was held hostage unless I filled out the credit card information on the invoice. Th "technician" said his name was "Phillip" and he was a Windows technician. When I realized that this was a scam, I contacted my personal computer service provider who told me to turn the computer off and bring it to him, which I did. He removed the problem that was blocking my access to my own computer and made sure that it was secure. He advised me to check all my password protected applications to make sure that my data was safe. Basically, I couldn't use my own computer without providing credit card information to this scammer. In order to get my computer working again, I was forced to have this company's software removed by my own computer specialist.I will not consider this complaint resolved without receiving reimbursement for the cost of recovering my computer: $200.

Their way of getting business is through misrepresentation, that it is a self standing business dealing with computer software malware and claim to be from Windows microsoft. However their service is nothing short of fantastic and very courteous very knowledgeable staff who obviously know what they are doing. Yes I felt forced into buying this product but am happy that I did and am disregarding the way they solicitated me.

The Tec's were extremely helpful and understanding of my hearing loss.
They did a very good job.

Associates at this company have lied to me on several occasions when attempting to access the service I had paid for. Some associates have actually hung up the phone in the middle of my conversation. I have no confidence in this firm and will never recommend it to anyone (friend or foe).

Terry, has helped me to get back on the internet. he is very patient and well knowledge in this difficult feild

Revdex.com:As of this date, May 5, 2016, I agree with this statement.  I was contacted by the company & assured that they are a legitimate business.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
1)  My name is not [redacted], and
2) As my complaint stated, they called my CELL phone number, not my home number.
3) My compaint also stated that I verified with [redacted] that, contrary to the caller's claim, this company has no contract with [redacted].  [redacted] does not look for or "trap" the identities of computers "throwing" viruses.  Nor do they then call computer owners making such claims and offering services to deal with the viruses.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I have contacted your help and Cyrus was a big help.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I feel that I was scammed by Geek Support Live, they called me and said that my computer was at risk of crashing and that
my virus protection was no longer working and that my computer had been hacked. How did they know this, and how did they get access to my computer, and how did they get my phone
number? I was so upset that my computer was crashing that being ( not a computer wiz myself) they advised me they could fix my computer. I asked them what was it going to cost me?
They didn't answer me until they felt they had me because I couldn't let my computer crash. They then said they could fix my computer lifetime fix for 400.00, I said I could not do 400.00 so they
said three. I accepted. They then fixed my computer for what I thought was 300.00, but to my dismay they charged my credit card 400.00.  I then inquired about complaints against
their company through the Revdex.com and found out that they had 69 complaints against them for fraud. I believe I am entitled to my money returned and I feel that they were the ones that hacked me.
I thank you for your quick response to my complaint!

Best Regards,

Mark H[redacted] was very helpful to me and very patient. My email would not stay on my computer and he worked very hard to make it right

My experience with Joseph B[redacted] was excellent. I needed the password for Wi-Fi in order to connect our new Nook Reader.

My experience with Ben P[redacted] and Geek Support Live was great. Every person that I spoke with was very professional and friendly. I feel very well taken care of and thankful for their support. Everyone has been extremely accommodating and I would recommend Geek Support Live to anyone in the future,

The [redacted] scammers are at it again and they are called Geek Support.
They got a contract signed and a credit card payment (I will dispute as a fraud) and for what..
They installed a new office version on the PC without permission etc etc.
Michigan has a consumer law which allows a consumer to cancel a home solicited contract within 3 business days.
I will take full advantage
