GoDaddy.com Reviews (2089)

Watch out for this company's data minding scam. GoDaddy would post a super low price offer for new customers, typically in popular domain name search engine.

GoDaddy will show the price of "awesome deal" through out the checkout process, until you've entered all your personal info, including credit card info. Once they got that, the price would change back to their regular price.

Of course only fools will actually do business with company with this kind of scam. Logical step is to remove your personal info from their data base. They won't let you, they claim it is in their fine prints of privacy policy. In other words, they will use your personal info as they see fit, sell it share it and make their customer base seems larger than it really is.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.3/5/2014, 11.08pm - GoDaddy Online Bookkeeping Trial initiated.4/5/2014, 7.57am - GoDaddy sent one notice for product expiration AT TIME OF product expiration.4/8/2014, 2.45pm GoDaddy sent an Order Confirmation for New Online Bookkeeping account purchase. I have had a website hosted and designed with Godaddy for 5 years. I wanted to move the domain and rebuild the website on a different frame. I also have two hosting packages that two other webites I have go through godaddy.

When I called I was told that it had a security lock on it and all I would have to do is fill out a form and submit and it should be good to go. Well 2 days later I get an email that looks official but with nothing really there to assure me it was real to send them my business license, tax id # etc. to prove I was A business. So I sent them a copy of my FLorida tax ID# which you can't get without first having a Federal tax ID#. Next day another email we need more proof you are a business. So not feeling real good about I sent a copy of my EIN#. Next day I get a request that I send a photocopy of a government issued Picture ID card that must be dated current and show my picture and signature so that they could identify me as the proper registrant. Well in the first place no one at godaddy knows me or what I look like and in the second place my DL has my SS and DOB so I guess if you have all my business info, My picture, my SS#, my DOB and a copy of my signature you about have everything. I do not recall ever signing any thing that they could compare my signature to so why do they need all this?

I am not sure if this is real or a scam but if it is real under what authority can they demand this amount of information?

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Dear Dispute Resolution ConsultantThank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the customer. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following. The customer acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon...

Our support teams provided the renewal of the customer's hosting at a discount however there appears to have been a misunderstanding during the interaction. RESOLUTION:GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service.  We have provided the customer with a 3 month renewal at no cost as a gesture of goodwill however, they will need to pay regular price for the renewal after this time.  Thank you again for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the customer.Kind Regards,[redacted]Office of the CEO[redacted] Phone

I can't imagine the BAD Tricks of your employees/customer service/ billing employees. By clicking the Auto renew box and Double charging into two different Credit Card WITHOUT customer's consent is an ACT of STEALING!

I discovered a lot of Bad Tricks, during the renewal of our website. Three days before the renewal date, I've checked my godaddy's account. Everything is unchecked in the "automatic renew box", but during the renewal date. All the boxes has been checked already and I am being charge without any advised. This is one amongst those shocking tricks that I have been discovered or experienced with Godaddy. Despite of my complaint last Fe. 28, 2014 to refund that charge into the credit cards instead they put the overcharge amount into "store credit". Just discovered today of March 26, 2014, that they mistakes again, and apologized for the second time around. What a BAD TRICKS!

BE CAREFUL of dealing with them. To make it sure that it won't happen again, we are not going to renew our website with them.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.even though GoDaddy "automatically renews all domain names" because they make you check a box to not auto renew, and most people like myself miss.  I did not want any of these renewed, let alone without my permission.  A good company would refund the charges if indeed the customer alerted them to the fact they didn't want to continue the services.  All of their alerts went to my junk mail and I don't even know my login info anymore.  That is crap that companies such as GoDaddy can charge your card without any approval from customer.  I did not want any renews nor do I ever want to do business with them again!!!!! Ever!!!

Regards,

Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer. Our customer acknowledged and agreed to GoDaddy's agreements upon conducting business with GoDaddy. The latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx...

On March 9, 2016, our customer renewed the domain in question for a 2-year term via online transaction.  On April 19, 2016, a chargeback was initiated by our customer’s financial institution against this transaction.  This chargeback withdrew the payment originally made to GoDaddy, and as such, the domain in question was suspended/removed from the account.  As the domain was removed, this canceled any free credits associated with the domain, including our customer’s email credit they were utilizing for an email address with a separate domain. GoDaddy no longer offers free email credits with the purchase or restoration of a domain name.RESOLUTION:GoDaddy upheld its agreements with our customer in good faith and honored its terms of service.GoDaddy does not automatically apply In-Store Credit to automatic renewals, as customers must manually opt to use this credit during the checkout process.  On May 18, 2016, our customer paid the associated administrative fees and recovered the domain in question.  They may either purchase a new email plan or utilize a different free credit to set up the email address in question once again.  However, as GoDaddy’s email servers only maintain email backups for 14 rolling calendar days, there would likely be no available content to restore for this email address.  Our customer would need to restore emails and content from any independent backups they have maintained.Thank you again for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,Mike L[redacted]Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

I set up a website for my personal training services. I did not set up the site to auto renew, yet low and behold it did. I did not realize it until now which has been months later. I have not accessed the site after the 1st month I created it. Godaddy.com would only cancel and refund me this months payments. Their customer service was extremely poor and the way they handle their buisness and website is very subpar. They screwed me out of $10 a month for many many months and offered not even a partial refund.

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We have reviewed our customer's rebuttal and would like to present the following.

Our customer care managers have been apprised of the customer's feedback in an effort to address and improvement opportunities that may exist. ?

Proper support was provided to the customer along with a detailed explanation of the issue. Unfortunately, at the time GoDaddy Support was contacted there was no

data to recover due to the amount of time which had passed. Management of website under a customer's reseller plan is a customer responsibility.

Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by our valued customer.

Kindest regards,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Their customer service sucks! Please read the fine print on the their return policy. My SSL didn't work with my website. So, I called their customer service. I was a denied a refund. They said I paid in advance, so they don't allow refunds. Wow, Don't buy any products from them. Waste of my time and money.

BEWARE! They sell all your contact information. I bought a domain name and soon started getting phone calls daily from people wanting to design my website. I get .every day including a huge janitorial catalog today. I have not started a business or created a website yet. In fact the only place the name of my idea even exists is with GoDaddy so I KNOW they are the culprit. I'd advise using a more ethical company

Thank you for the opportunity to address our customer’s additional concerns.   From time to time a company must make the difficult decision to cease (End-of-Life or EOL) providing a particular product or service.  This is the case with our Premium DNS product allowing customers to edit SOA records. Technology is ever changing and while we understand this process may be frustrating, we have provided options to help our customer decide their individual business' next steps.   We appreciate our customer's candid feedback about our service levels and will ensure their concerns are fully reviewed by our customer care managers in an effort to identify improvement opportunities. GoDaddy strives to offer the best service levels in the industry.   Thank you again for the opportunity to address the additional concerns presented by our customer. GoDaddy, since being sold recently to 3 investors for 2.25 Billion Dollars, (for approx. 65% of the company), has gotten as greedy - as they can get.

They have gone from $8.48/$9.99 for renewals to $14.99. (In one year).

If you happen to find a couple of good domain names, and you get even one of them on sale (.99 cents), after the sale is completed, they may cancel the domain names from your account, unless you send them a copy of your Drivers License or a Passport ID for verification of your identity. (They say it is for security). I don't think it's very secure that I send either one of these - to people who I don't know, or won't even provide me with their last name.

If you refuse to provide these, they cancel the names from your account, and later, when you check the who-is, it shows GoDaddy Repossessed Domain.

So, after taking them off the market for a year, they can take those names - that you have originally found, and sell them through their sister company Afternic (which they've recently purchased), or on GoDaddy Auctions, profiting at your expense, and your hard work in finding those domain names to begin with.

GoDaddy is violating your Right to Privacy, under the guise of "Security Purposes." (Over a $10.00 dollar purchase.) With no proof or documentation that any valid security issue - ever existed.

About 7 months ago, GoDaddy sent me an email that offered several domains at a renewal price of $8.48. I clicked on the link to renew now, and when I was finished - at checkout, the price was not $8.48, it was $9.99 each.

So I called GoDaddy, to save the approximately $10.00 that should had been discounted on about 7 domains.

I explained it to the rep, and he said there was nothing he could do. So, I got the supervisor on the phone. He requested me to forward the $8.48 email offer to him, which I did. After hemming and hawing with me for 30 more minutes, He said, OK, I'll credit your credit card back the $10.00. I told him; "I'm at checkout now, and I expect the $8.48 per domain as the offer stated."

He was looking at my account at the same time I was, (at checkout), and he refused to honor the $8.48 special. (Even though he saw the valid email offer). When I told him that I refused to wait 7-10 days for a credit, (back to my credit card), he told me to read the fine-print, that says: GoDaddy can change the terms at any time without notice. So, I paid the $9.99 per domain, because they were almost about to expire. And I did not allow him to do a credit - back to my card, since it was not my intention to do it that way, based on the original offer.

Since then, I have transferred all 140 of my GoDaddy Domain names to Dynadot, including the 7 that Mr. Black (the supervisor) had refused to honor - at the special price of $8.48.

I haven't renewed my Delux Hosting - which expired last week.

And as far as their flawed claim that their hosting is 99.9% up-time, there were several times within a month or two that I tried getting into my hosting account, and I was shut-out with an error message that said: "The error has been logged. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please try again later." ... So, its probably more like 74.6% up-time, or, in reality, 25.4% down-time.

I won't ever do business with them again - for as long as I live.

There are alot of other good registrars out there.

Don't be fooled by all of their bull, like; Danica Patrick, Race-cars, MMA Sponsor Banners, etc.

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the complainant. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following. The complainant acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon...

conducting business with GoDaddy:•GoDaddy Universal Terms of Service Agreement•GoDaddy Domain Name Registration AgreementThe latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspxOn October 28, 2007 during an online transaction the complainant purchased the Domain Names in question for a one year term.  The Domain Name have subsequently been renewed by the complainant for additional one year terms on:•October 27, 2008•October 27, 2009•October 28, 2010•October 27, 2011•October 29, 2012•October 27, 2013•November 8, 2014A domain's expiration date is not arbitrarily set by GoDaddy. The complainant chose the initial date of registration, the term of registration ((and/or consolidation or renewal). At the time of purchase (and/or consolidation or renewal) the customer had many options available to them such as recording the expiration date in their ledger or calendar. While GoDaddy sent expiration notices before and after the domain's expiration date to the customer via email GoDaddy simply has no control over what happens to the email notice after it leaves our system or how the customer's ISP or email client chooses to handle the email once they receive it. If the customer changes their email address we simply have no way of knowing what their new one is unless they inform us by updating their account. Account management and renewal of domains is solely a customer responsibility and the complainant agreed to this when they registered domains through GoDaddy. While we make a best effort to partner in our customer's success they must also be responsible for their actions or lack thereof. GoDaddy sent renewal notices prior to the most recent expiration date on:•July 30, 2015•August 29, 2015•September 28, 2015•October 13, 2015•October 23, 2015GoDaddy also sent notices after the most recent expiration date on:•October 29, 2015•November 2, 2015•November 3, 2015•November 8, 2015On the day a domain name expires, in this case October 29, 2015 the complainants agreed and purchased term of domain registration ended. The complainant only registered the domains until this date. After the complainant's agreed and purchased term of domain registration ended GoDaddy (at our own cost) provided the customer with a 42 day grace period to renew or redeem the name.On December 1, 2015 the complainant contacted GoDaddy’s Customer Care Center to request the authorization codes required to transfer the domain names in question. The complainant no longer had access to the email address they had associated with their domain names in order to receive these codes. In order to update the email address they were required to redeem their domain names. RESOLUTION: GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service. The domain names in question are now eligible for transfer to the registrar of complainant’s choice. As a onetime exception, we have refunded $80.00 in redemption fees for the Domain Names in question. Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,
Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the complainant. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following.
The complainant acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon...

conducting business with GoDaddy:•    Universal Terms of Service Agreement•    Domain Name Registration Agreement•    Domain Name Proxy Agreement
The latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx
On November 11, 2014, the complainant purchased a domain name registration for a one year term via online transaction.  This is for the period ending November 11, 2015.
During this transaction, the complainant opted to add GoDaddy’s Protected Registration service to the domain in question.  Our Protected Registration service is the highest level of protection for a domain name that GoDaddy offers.  This premium, add-on service provides private registration and also protects against the cancellation, expiration, or transfer of a domain name. Domain names which have this service cannot be cancelled or transferred until the Protected Registration is canceled. This is done by way of submitting a valid government issued ID, Business ID if applicable, and a signed form to our Domain Services Department.
On November 13, 2015, GoDaddy was instructed to automatically renew the domain and protected registration service in question per the complainant’s account preferences and did so in a good faith effort to honor its agreements with the complainant.
GoDaddy sent renewal notices prior to the expiration date on:
•    August 14, 2015•    September 13, 2015•    October 13, 2015•    October 28, 2015
These notices informed the complainant their expiring items would be renewed in accordance with their account settings unless additional action was taken. Account management is a customer responsibility.
The complainant subsequently called GoDaddy’s customer care center on November 13, 2015 and November 14, 2015 respectively inquiring about the domain renewal in question, and were provided proper information regarding the Protected Registration service.
RESOLUTION:
GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service.
The Protected Registration service has functioned as advertised, keeping the domain from being canceled without proof of identification.  If the complainant does not wish to provide a copy of their government-issued photo ID, GoDaddy will accept a notarized affidavit in lieu of their government-issued photo ID. This affidavit will need to state the complainant’s name and that they are requesting that the protected registration service be cancelled on the domain name in question.
The complainant has been advised of the information needed to cancel the Protected Registration service, and it is their responsibility to submit the requested documentation.
As the complainant has indicated they do not wish to receive calls from GoDaddy, we have honored their request and placed their account on GoDaddy’s Do Not Call list.  We have also unsubscribed their email address from company promotional mailing lists as of today's date. Please note that they may continue to receive promotional marketing emails from us for up to two weeks, based on mailings that were placed into queue prior to our receipt of their request.
For domain name renewals, we are required by ICANN policy to send notifications, and there is not a way to opt-out of these messages.  These notices are not for marketing or promotional purposes, but instead are direct account specific notifications.

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,
Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the additional concerns presented by our customer.
We stand by our previous response. Due to suspicious information used by our customer for the transaction, additional information was requested to confirm the transaction was valid. As the requested information was not provided in a timely manner, the product was removed from the associated account and the transaction was refunded in full to the original payment method utilized.
GoDaddy reserves the right to take action it deems necessary in its fraud prevention efforts as outlined in Section 10 of the Universal Terms of Service agreement that the complainant agreed to when making their purchase.
Once the necessary identification documents were provided, the account was unlocked. However, our Verification Office was not able to re-instate the original charge, previously refunded in full.  A charge was placed in the account's Shopping Cart for our customer to process. Once the charge is processed, the domain name registration can then be returned to the account.
Our customer has not taken the steps as outlined by our verification office so the domain name can be returned to the account. Additionally, it appears our customer wishes to take this outside of the Revdex.com’s purview by requesting the registered agent. If this is the case, Our customer can reach out to our office directly at [email protected] and reference this complaint to request the email for GoDaddy’s registered agent.
Thank you again for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by our customer.
Kindest regards,
