Guzu, Inc. Reviews (537)

Review: On November **, 2014 I entered into an agreement with Guzu to recycle two Iphone 5’s in the amount of $250.00. On December **, 2014 I received a check from Guzu in the amount of $250.00. When deposited, this check was returned for Non-Sufficient Funds.

I contacted Guzu through email on December **, 2014 and Customer Service Rep [redacted] said they would reissue a money order in amount $272.00 (including fees for the bounced check). This all sounded great, but since then nothing has been received. They told me the Money Order was issued and sent, even gave me a tracking number, but the tracking number has never been updated and [redacted] keeps saying it’s the [redacted] fault. I emailed [redacted] again yesterday, January *, 2015, and informed them I will be filing a complaint. I have received no response back from Guzu, or [redacted].

I believe this company is a complete fraud and want to warn any potential customers of their actions, or lack thereof.Desired Settlement: Payment in the amount of $272.00.

Review: I saw a commercial for Guzu on TV that stated "we will give you money for your old or used cell phone"

I registered my iPhone 4s online through their website and I was promised $137.00 for it.

I received their package in the mail on 5-**-13 with instructions on how to mail it back. I mailed it back the same day. I was supposed to get a confirmation email after they received my iPhone notifying me that they got it and that they were sending me my check.

I waited 2 weeks before calling/emailing them. Each time I emailed I got a response assuring me that my package was not lost and not to worry, just be patient. Yeah, right.

After emailing back and forth for about a month I got sick of dealing with the woman I was talking to, [redacted], and I've given up on them.

It is now 7-**-13, over 2 months later, and they apparently still have not received my phone. I feel like I really got scammed. There were a number of other places that would've given me the same amount for my phone. This is my first time selling an old phone so I chose a company at random that seemed to have a lot of decent reviews. Guess I was wrong.

Thanks for any help.Desired Settlement: I really just want my $137.00

I don't understand how they could have not received it, or if it was addressed wrong why USPS wouldn't just send the package back to me?

Business

Response:

We will look into the order tomorrow to see that it is paid. Sorry for the delay and confusion.

Review: I sent them my iPhone 5 in the mail and they said I would receive payment once it was approved within 3 business days. I sent my device in on the [redacted] of September and still have not received payment. When I emailed them they keep sending the same response that they were dealing with fraud issues and it was taking longer to send out payments. There is no working contact number and I've requested a call from the company several times in emails to no avail. The only fraud is this company!Desired Settlement: I want the agreed payment sent or my phone returned quickly!

Review: I requested a packet to send my device (cell phone) in to be recycled and payed for the device. I received the label to mail back my device which I did. Then I received an email saying they had received my product and payment should be taken care of in the matter I had applied for which was 1-3 business day [redacted]. This was over a month ago and I have emailed the company three times to which I only got the automated response that a response will be made in 24-48 hours. Review: This company negotiated with my minor daughter without my knowledge or my permission. They offered her $52.00 for an iPhone 4s, which she agreed to, and then they sent her a check for only $13.00 because they said they attempted to contact her, and she didn't respond, so they went forward with their unacceptable offer of $13.00. I then contacted the company to try to work things out with them - they would not work with me, and have continued to ignore my multiple inquiries, leaving me no choice but to escalate the issue.Desired Settlement: We have not cashed the $13.00 check. We want the full $52.00 that was offered, or we want my daughter's phone returned.

Business

Response:

We had been in touch with the customer many times about this issue. We processed the order based on our policy and unfortunately it is not justifed to compensate the customer since she is “claiming” her daughter is under age. We already sent the value of the phone she provided. Please let me know where we go from here. I had about 10 emails back and forth with the customer explaining this many times. Please let me know if you would like for us to provide the correspondence.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I had corresponded with Guzu via e-mail several times. My daughter IS a "minor" - I can provide a copy of her birth certificate if needed.

It is clear to me that they took advantage of her. She sent them a perfectly operational iPhone 4s, and they sent her $13 for it, even though we agreed to $52 for it, and nothing less.

After I continued to e-mail Guzu, even advising them that I would file a complaint with the Revdex.com if they did not respond to me, they continued to ignore my correspondence. I can send you copies of anything you need from my end as well.

Thank you,

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

The customer keeps stating that her daughter is a minor, even though we are very clear in our user agreement that you must be over 18 and have ownership of the phone. The phone itself had Apple ID lock on it, which prevents us a company to resell there phone for good value. We contacted her many times regarding this before the requoted payment amount was sent. We did the best we could to fix this matter and the customer continued to threaten us that she will go to the Revdex.com. We would like to help her but it would clearly be against our company policy.

Please let me know where to go from here.

Best

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I had explained to Guzu that this transaction was done without my knowledge, and that yes, my daughter is a minor. When Guzu e-mailed my daughter about the lock code, she did not have her phone; therefore, she was not able to respond. She was grounded from her phone during that time. I notified Guzu about this very shortly after the time frame to respond had expired, and they basically blew me off.

I then attempted to work out the problem with Guzu directly. After numerous attempts asking them to do the right thing, they continued to ignore my e-mails, so I had no choice but to file a complaint with the Revdex.com.

It is my firm belief that they took advantage of my minor daughter. They owe the full $52.00 that was promised. I have still not executed the $13.00 check that they did send.

Thank you for your help in resolving this matter.

Review: I sent guzu inc my old iPhone 4S and they sent me a check for $125. A couple weeks later the check bounced and I was charged for the non-sufficient funds. I then called and spoke with a lady by the name of [redacted] and she told me that they knew about the problem an were sending me another check for the $125 plus and extra $35 for any charges my bank may have charged me for a total $160. I just looked at my bank account again today july [redacted] and there was another non-sufficient check from this same company. This is the second time in less than a month is has happened to me.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back in the form of a cashiers check or money order. My bank has put a freeze on my account and is no longer accepting the checks from the Guzu INC company

Business

Response:

We sent [redacted] a check for his return order #[redacted] on 5/** in the total of $125. We were having problems with fraudulent activity on our bank account, so many of our customers were effected because of this. His check for $125 had bounced around mid-June. We sent him a replacement check in the total of $160 on 6/**. This check had an additional amount in it to cover any bank fees. On the [redacted] of July, we had received notification from Citibank that his second check had bounced as well. To avoid any future inconveniences for this customer, we sent him a money order in the amount of $195 to again cover any fees he may have inquired. On July [redacted], a money order was sent to him in the total amount of $195. We placed a tracking number which is as follows:

The money order was delivered on 7/** to him. This issue has been resolved and closed since that date.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have included 3 attachments regarding my order. It includes tracking information stating that they received my iPhone as well as the page from their own website stating my order # and the date of the transaction. Since the business responded asking for the order number because they couldn't find my name anywhere on their site, I have provided that for them here so if I could just have this sent to them, that would be great. The order number is #[redacted] and my [redacted] address is [redacted]. The email I used for the website is under [redacted]. Review: I sold two iphones to this company for the agreed upon price of 33.00 in June of 2015. The company never sent my original payment and after three threats or attempts to get my check, I finally received a payment of 33.00 on 7/**/15. The company issued a bad check to me and it was returned on 7/**/15 by my bank, [redacted] for insufficient funds. My account was not only chargedback the 33.00 but also a 12.00 fee for the bad check. This company doesn't have a valid telephone number on it and doesn't respond timely to emails.Desired Settlement: Return both of my iphones along with any accessories. [Your Answer Here]

The company has not sent a legitimate [redacted] or tracking number that is [redacted] or [redacted] certified. If you evaluate the complaints submitted repeatedly by other consumers, you will see this is their normal routine to try and through agencies off their scam trail and keep taking the consumer through hoops, never actually making good on the promise to send the legitimate funds. Further action needs to be taken against at this business to prevent consumer fraud.
