I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Thank you!!

Review: Signed up with iYogi 1/**/12 and paid $400 for tech help until 1/**/15. I also bought a 3 year subscription to McAfee through iYogi for $80. They were good at first at handling issues that slowed down my computer. They urged me to buy an external hard drive and I did so 7/**/12. I bought it from IYogi for $147. Then, after repeated warnings from iYogi that my Windows XP was obsolete and needed to be replaced, I purchased from iYogi Windows 7 on Feb. **, 2013 for $284 . After iYogi check out my computer to see if it would handle Windows 7, I was assured that it would be installed in less that 2 hours by iYogi. After 5 visits/attempts with iYogi and more than 20 hours of unsuccessfully installing Windows 7, I expressed my displeasure with iYogi to them directly. I asked only for the remaining amount of credit that I had with my iYogi's tech subscription. They asked me to call back in a few and see if what they did resulted in the Windows 7 being installed. I called and said that my computer was not working properly with Windows 7 and that the old Windows XP was much better. At least it worked, although slowly. I again asked for a refund and was told it would be coming to my VISA shortly. I asked for and was told my refund was coming in March. I called again in April and was told the same thing. I received an e-mail in late April saying my refund was approved and being processed. I have inquired about this refund 5 times and each time I have been told it was coming. My last call to iYogi was on August **, 2013 and I was told it was credited to my VISA on June **. IT WAS NOT! I looked at the past 4 VISA statements (one is out today) and there has been no credit issued by iYogi.Desired Settlement: I have asked for and been promised by iYogi ( verbally and in e-mails) on numerous occasions for over 6 months that my refund was either being processed or credited to my VISA. I just want the credit due me. I paid $400 for tech support from 1/**/12 to 1/**/15. I have been off of iYogi since May 2013, so 16 months of service with iYogi. $400 for 3 years = $11.11 plus per month or $177.78 for my 16 months. I believe iYogi owes me at least $222 for the unused portion of the service agreement

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: On Saturday, November **, I called a number for [redacted], which we had used before. I was calling to get my [redacted] software installed again after a local technician reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows. The computer was working fine The people who answered said they needed to scan my computer and fix any problems before they could reinstall the software. They set up a remote connection and ran the scan. Then they said the scan found problems and worked on my computer for more than a half hour before asking me to pay. They never informed me that they were not [redacted]. When they asked me to pay, they insisted that I had to now, because they were already doing the work. They pressured me to get may credit card and pay. I finally gave them my credit card number. I wanted to cancel, and several times I told them that I didn't want to pay. I asked to wait until my son came home, but they continued pressuring me and working on the computer. They talked louder and faster, overriding what I was saying. My son came home then and also objected. At that point, they said the work was almost complete.

I called [redacted] afterwards, and they said that iYogi does not work for them.

I am ** years old and don't understand a lot about computers. The service people spoke very fast and with a foreign accent. It was hard for me to understand. They took advantage of me. Their failure to identify their company and starting the work before telling me there would be a charge were deceptive. They followed that up with high pressure sales.

We have called them back twice at the customer service number, but the line wasn't answered.Desired Settlement: I want to have the credit card charges removed.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I paid iYogi, Inc. for online computer services in early January and signed up for online computer services. on Jan **, 2013 at 8:14 AM iYogi support team send an email that they regret their technical services was less than satisfactory and have cancelled my services and I should call ###-###-#### and refer to ID number [redacted]. I called probably 10 times and each time I was connected to the agents who answer the phone could not comprehend the problem since I was asking why they cut off the service without my knowledge. The service was for one year. So, I had to call so many times which they refused to connect me to someone in the United States and they were not giving me the US location for the headquarter address. After I told them that I will write to Revdex.com they finally gave the address of the iYogi headquarter. I am extremely busy and teach full time at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey CA and this company took so much of my time away with a lot of annoyance. I have not received the refund that they claim they have refunded. The amount is about 200.00 and some cents which I have to look for the receipt.Desired Settlement: I would like to get the refund and an email from the customer service recognizing the trouble they caused me by cancelling the service without my knowledge. In fact right after I signed up with them someone called from the company which I could not make out the message. Then I received they cancellation email. In fact, I was satisfied for the first call I made because the agent who signed me up could communicate well and solved my computer problem.

P.s. I like to hear from the customer service why the cancelled without my knowledge while they were pail fully

I'm trying to call them and they put me on hold more than 35 min

I have received over the phone and remote on-line technical support from I yogi for over 2 years and have been completely satisfied with their service. There was one tech that I found young and pushy but all the others were very good, if not excellent. I am not a computer program type of person and have learned quite a bit from observing their troubleshooting which has built confidence in understanding and navigating computers. They are very very thorough, will answer questions, and will not leave until you are completely satisfied. I believe there are 2-3 tiers of technicians, each tier reflecting their expertise and what issues they are qualified to address. I have purchased the top tier for quicker and more expertise service. Initially, I was not comfortable of the concept of remotely having a "strange party" from across the globe take control of my computer but I yogi's ethics and courteous manners earned them my trust. I thought about hiring a local technician for my two PC laptops but decided that I could be more efficient with my personal and professional obligations while having remote on line access. Each visit has been between 20 minutes - 2 hours depending on the complexity of problems. 2 hours sounds like a lot of time; however, one can multi-task staying reasonable close to the computer. I find this works very well with me. Initially, it takes a bit to orient to the [redacted] accent but the techs have a very good command of the English language. Keep persistent in your chat communication so that you know that both you and the tech are understanding one another. I have no reason to leave their services. I have purchased 2 years of both software and hardware support along with two updates of Microsoft Word 2013 and on Windows OS 8.1 which they helped me install them.

Review: iyogi continues to dance around my question, they claim to have sent a check a week ago. they also tell me they are only reimbursing me $120.00. that is not acceptable. they did not take care of my problem as promissed . (as per my complaint a week ago). they did absolutely nothing they promised to do. and I want my full refund of $224.99. also I can not understand them at all.Desired Settlement: full refund of $224.99

Business

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,Thanks for the notification again. We would like to inform you and the customer that a refund check of $120 has been dispatched to his address and he should be expecting it to get delivered in the coming few days. We would also like to add that the customer had originally paid iYogi an amount of $224.99 on '[redacted]May 2013' for two years of tech support on his computer. So if we calculate it, 17 of the total 24 months on his subscription have already passed. We are still refunding him a huge chunk ( more than half of the amount he paid) in the form of a refund check. The refund, as always is the case here is calculated on pro rated basis and that's what we have followed here too. We have respected the customer's decision of terminating his contract with us even though there were only 7 months left in it and in doing so we believe we have gone well and beyond our policies to bring this case to a successful closure. We request the Revdex.com to consider this as our last response on this case and close it.Thank youRegards[redacted], iYogi

Dear [redacted],Thank you for notifying us of this complaint again. We would like to reiterate what we touched on in one of our previous responses that the customer had asked for the cancellation of his services when there were only 7 months left on his two year contract. We always try to provide the best possible service to our customers and in case they don't like it we respect their decision of whether they want to continue with us or not. We have done the same here and refunded more than half of the money paid to us even though 17 of the total 24 months of the contract had already been used up. We think we have gone well and beyond our refund policies in bringing this close to a closure. That's the best we can do as a business. We sincerely request the Revdex.com to consider the above mentioned points and close this case.ThanksRegards[redacted], iYogi

Review: after spending several hundreds of dollars on software and support. Calling in several times with issues with our computer and not being helped we asked for a refund and they refused stating it was over the 30 days since we purchased the support.Desired Settlement: We would be willing to receive a partial refund. We paid over $425.00 for online and hardware services. we would be happy with a $350.00 refund and terminate any relationship with iyogi.

Review: I purchased iYogi software and technical support around June of this year in order to help fix my computer and unfortunately that software didn't work and I no longer need the technical support that I only used once to fix the problem. I also purchased a warranty that I never received from the company. That computer has been replaced with a new one so I called their customer support in order to receive a refund. They insisted that I don't get a refund and transfer the their products and support onto my new one. I don't need this software or technical support and no matter how many times I called and asked each employee said it was necessary to keep and pay for.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my money back through the mail by check considering that this product did not work for my old computer and therefor was hardly used as well as the technical support and warranty that was never received.

Review: Dear whom it may concern,

The iYOGI web site clearly states, "Get a FREE one-on-one consultation upto 30 min with a tech expert."

However, they refuse to give any support without signing up an account with them.

I called 3 times to explain this to get my simple consulting then make my decision to sign up but, they insisted that I need to sign up under web site for free consultation and cannot help me over the phone.

There is no where in the web site to sign up for such consulting but rather asking customers to call the number.

I believe this false advertisement draws people in to ask simple questions but, forced to sign up an account with them to get an answer.

If you have any doubt about this complaint, please call and find out yourself.

Sincerely,

**Desired Settlement: I would like a call from them and receive a 30 min free terchnical consultant as they have been advertising.

Review: iYogi double billed me 179.99, once on the **of March 2014 and once again on the **of March 2014. These charges were made to my American Express card. They sent a partial refund of one charge; however, the refund was only 169.98, still $10.01 less than the overcharge. When I tried to contact iYogi about the charges, they told me to print out a copy of the charges and email the copy to them, which I did. They then stated in an email reply that the billing was correct. When I called them back, they said that they would not accept my documentation because it was sent in Word format and not as a PDF. It seems they are giving me the run-around.Desired Settlement: I want an additional refund of $10.01 on my American Express card. This problem has already taken up at least 3 hours of my time.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I was having problems with my Mac so I googled Apple support and the first number I clicked on said Apple support. So I called explained my problem they took my name and information and said that my warranty was out and that they could fix my problem for 170 dollars. With that 170 I also get another year warranty. I agreed because thinking the whole time I was talking to Apple support and at no time did they tell me that they where not part of Apple or that they a third party company. On google it clearly says apple support with the number. So after agreeing and paying the money they did fix my problem but again at no time did they say that they where not from apple. After I get an e-mail from them and on the bottom it says that they are a third party company and not affiliated with anyone in fine print. Not only did they never say that they where from apple but when I asked if I should just take my mac to an apple store they told me no because it would probably cost me more money because I'm going to a store. I contacted apple support and I was informed that my warranty was in fact still active and that my problem would have been fixed free of charge, when iyogi told me different. I'm a college student with not a lot of disposable income and was in a little bit of a panic because I had scholarship deadlines to meet that I need my computer for. The fact that this company never told me who they where and when asked if I should take it to the store they told me no because it would cost me more money. I googled the company after and come to find out I am not the only one that this has happened too, something should be done.Desired Settlement: I just want my money refunded to me. I feel they stole and lied to me.

Review: I thought someone had hacked into my PC so I pressed on [redacted] "Get Customer Support" my antivirus provider. I clicked on their Support link and iYogi indicated they represented [redacted]. An man of India decent took my name and telephone number, the individual remoted into my computer and told me I had (3) critical viruses that he could fix. He had me click on a terms and conditions agreement with no explanation. I asked me how much would the service cost, and he indicated he could get the information later after fixing the problems. I was uncomfortable with his high pressured sales pitch when I told him I did not want their service. He continued with his sales pitch, but finally I was able to get him off my computer and phone. I uninstalled iYogi software that I saw loaded in the Control Panel. I contacted financial services to keep a watch for this company for any charges to my credit card that I did not authorize. I really trusted [redacted], but this experience is making me rethink renewing my service with them if this is the kind of company they are associating with.Desired Settlement: I want [redacted] to contact me about this company iYogi.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

iYogi seem to be scam artists. After reading the other reviews, I am afraid they are going to destroy my computer. I do not know much about computers, but if they gained remote access to my computer once, they can probably do it again.

I called a large hardware company about a faulty printer I used once before it messed up. My computer is by the same company. iYogi answered the call. The first rep said I needed virus protection, which he could sell to me for $80 per year or $150 for the life of the computer. (Ok, does that mean when the computer breaks down, its life is over? Then what good is protection?)

The iYogi rep lowered his voice to a whisper and said "don't give me any information over the cell phone". Then he tried to get my bank card info. Right.

I told him the printer I had before I moved worked just fine and I did not want to pack it for a cross country move, so I just bought this one here. I asked to speak to someone else. Rep said he would transfer me to "level three". I wonder what happened to level two.

I told the level three rep I had a service paid for that would remove any viruses. He said this was not a virus on my computer. So why did level one try to sell me anti-virus to solve my issue?

iYogi refused to transfer me to anyone from the big computer company who sold the faulty printer to me. Finally I hung up.

I think the A+ rating is created when iYogi gains access to people's computers and probably stack the deck.

Review: On 4/**/15, at approximately 7:00PM PST I went on to a website to fill out a local radio's contest. After filling out the contest form and successfully submitting the form online an error message came up to say it is important that I call an [redacted] number listed on the error message. Being skeptical of scams, since I was subscribed to [redacted] (anti-virus software), I googled their technical support number. Being scared I may have got a virus and overwhelmed, I took down the toll free number ###-###-#### that was to the website [redacted]. I was not able to find a customer service number to [redacted] so seeing this website and key word "Connect to our tech support team for [redacted] AntiVirus and free your machine from viruses and spyware. " on the iYogi website and somehow was not thinking straight connected how [redacted] may be using a 3rd party to support them. I called and it was picked up by a gentleman in [redacted] in [redacted] named [redacted]. I asked if he was [redacted] as I have a subscription to it. He said yes. He asked me for my email address of which I gave along with asking for my first and last name of which I gave also. He asked for my date of birth but I am a bit skeptical dealing with international companies so I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving him that information of which he said that was fine. He asked what was my issue and I told him how I got that error message. He then asked me to open up a web browser and type in a short web address (don't remember as I deleted all my web history...will entail below). He then was able to remotely come onto my computer and did a scan of my computer. That was when I saw something about iYogi on the remote connection window then thought why isn't anywhere showing [redacted]. I though fishy but didn't want to say much since [redacted] seemed to be doing his job to help remedy my computer. The scan results were a few registry issues and 1 virus found. He said before he can remove the virus he had to send me over to the [redacted] people to do it as they are the only one that could. He then went into details on how much that would cost. It would be $199.98 paid to him before he transferred me over to the [redacted] people. Being skeptical again I told him I would need to speak with my spouse first since that is not a simple $50 fee it's almost $200! So he said he will call me on 4/**/15 at 1PM PST (my time since I told him that would be a right time to call). In the morning on 4/**/15 (today's date) I had called directly to [redacted] to inquire about the registry clean up. The [redacted] rep I spoke with said that was a scam. [redacted] charges only a $99.00 one time fix or a $149.00 per year subscription to clean up any kind of thing on my computer. [redacted] even told me if I was to have paid [redacted] (iYogi) that $199.98 when I was transferred over to [redacted] (if legit) I would have to pay [redacted] that $99. So with this information I was shocked. I am scared as well as [redacted] had remotely came onto my computer. Who knows what he could do at this point. I then deleted everything on my computer that was pertaining to websites, browsing history, etc. I then went onto [redacted]'s website and was able to chat with someone. They told me iYogi does not work with them and they are a 3rd party that I should not work with. iYogi misrepresented on their website as they are not working with [redacted] or authorized by [redacted]. I want some comfort in knowing that my contact with [redacted] will not lead to any suspicious activity from his behalf or from iYogi as that is who he represented.Desired Settlement: I want iYogi to confirm that my contact with [redacted] will not lead to anything further of using any of my information obtained (if any) from his remote access to my computer.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.I am satisfied with the response but for future suggestion please have iYogi employees aware that they cannot represent another company if they are truly not associated with them. Too many scams going on that anything could have happened and I probably would have fell for the extreme charges to fix my computer if I wasn't so skeptical.

Sincerely,

Review: I was contacted by iyogi, claiming that my service needed to be renewed. I was in a library and unable to hear or respond properly. I did indicate that I only desired a continuation of the service I was already receiving at the price the salesman offered. At some point after I hung up, I was called back by the same salesman, and a hard sell, continued, on some unresolved matter he hadn't informed me of. I believe that is when the additional charges may have been made. When I checked my credit card, the price charged by iyogi was exorbitant, and I would not have asked for such services at such a price, had I clearly understood. The salesman made no attempt to reiterate what he was asking of me, or whether I understood what he was, in fact, offering.Desired Settlement: I want ONE year service on the two computers currently covered by iyogi. I would like the additional charges removed from my credit card, and that difference credited to the account.
