Unable to cancel trial membership using the website. Trial membership ends today 11/23/2019.
Hello D
My name is *** and I am with the customer care team at JustAnswer. I received a copy of your complaint filed through the Revdex.com and I’d like to help with your concerns.
First of all, I am very sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.
Since you were unable to cancel the membership before the trial period ended the site charged the monthly payment on November 23rd. No worries, we have refunded the membership payment for you. The funds are made available to your bank the next business day; however, the bank may take 3-5 business days to release the funds back to your account depending on their policy.
Moving forward, you will not see any recurring membership charges. The account is now on a pay-per-question basis and will only be charged when a new question is posted. In the future, if you would like to have the membership reinstated, please let us know.
I hope that I have resolved your concerns to your satisfaction. Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.

I tried their $5 introductory offer to resolve an error code on a Canon printer. They were only able to give me the same information I had found in my manual and I was not able to resolve the printer issue. I was communicating online with the tech and later the same evening with customer service. I told customer service I did not wish to continue with a membership. when I received my Nov credit card statement I found Justanswer had billed me $46.00. I called Justanswer and they informed me that unless I could send them a copy of my online conversation they could not refund the charge. Because we were communicating using their online chat window I have no saved record of our conversation. I was never told that I must send them an email to avoid the charge. I have not used the service since my initial contact.

From what you have stated in your complaint it sounds like you tried to cancel your membership on time, but it was not done in a way that was recorded by the site. We are unable to find any communication with customer service, such as a chat ticket, that would show that you contacted us to cancel the membership before the end of the trial period.

I thought I was paying $5 to have a legal question answered, Today, I discovered that I was charged $60. When I called customer service, I was told that I paid for a 7 day trial membership. Since the 7 days are over, I was not entitled to a refund.
The JustAnswer website says the following: "Just Answer takes customer satisfaction seriously. Accordingly, if you do not accept an answer and are not satisfied with your experience on JustAnswer for any reason, then as your sole remedy you may request a refund within thirty (30) days of when you paid to ask your question on JustAnswer here or by calling Customer Service (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) at

First of all, I am very sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.
After checking your account, I can see that you signed up for the discounted $5 question with the 7 day trial membership. As with any membership or subscription trial, if you do not cancel before the end of the trial, you will automatically be charged for your first month to avoid any disruption in service. Additionally, we send out emails welcoming you to the membership program and a billing reminder is sent before your trial ends.
The refund policy that you quoted is for question deposits and the trial period payments. That refund policy does not cover monthly membership payments. I asked one question and was told the cost would be $5.00 - I did not authorize any type of membership. A few weeks later, I received a $46.00 charge for a “monthly membership fee.” When I contacted just answer they offered to cancel the membership I didn’t sign up for in the first place and REFUSED to refund the $46.00 fee that, once again, I didn’t authorize in the first place. This place is a SCAM!

Something has to be done about these crooks! I went on the site *** several months ago and paid $1 for a 1 time question to be answered. However, I never proceeded to ask any question because I got sidetracked. And I never joined any trial whatsoever. about 3 mths later, I noticed two charges for $27.49 on my credit card statement. I called the 1800 number on my statement which led to justanwers com and explained things and requested a refund for the 2 charges. The rep proceeded to tell me that he didn't show a charge in his system and that the charges must be fraudulent from another site. I became irate because he clearly found my acct using my email and yet denied the charges. He says he's not issuing any refund and that I must call my bank. I said ok I will call the bank. So I did and had to follow their guidelines to do a fraud report which was aggravating and time consuming. So finally the bank removed the charges and sent me a new card. So as crazy as it is, I just opened my bank statement today and here is another $27.49 charge on my acct. I have not been back on the site at all. I was told my acct would be cancelled and I would not have to worry. They were able to get another charge on my acct right before the new card was issued.. it's one thing to charge my card this many times but then to deny the charges? These ppl are stealing ppl money and sadly, they are profiting tons from ppl who don't see these charges.

I signed up for a trial membership to get a legal question effecting my mothers care. I only signed up for the trial memberships. It said I would be notified when the trial ended. I never was and was busy caring for my mother. They charged me for two months and only refunded one month. I never agreed, or used the ongoing service. I and my mother are poor and on fixed incomes and this amount taken is really hurting us.
I want all but the trial payment refunded.
I was checking my bank account and noticed a $46.00 charge from JustAnswer on my activity statement from the bank. I talked with my husband to see if he made the charge and he informed me that he did not. So I called JustAnswer and it has been a nightmare! First I spoke to a person named Jeric whom I could not understand at all. Then I was transferred to a supervisor, ***, and he could not locate my account (because I don't have one) nor could he locate the charge -- not anything. I was asked for personal information in order to help them find the charge. I am scared that this scam will continue further. So I told him that I was not going to give him any more information and I wanted my money refunded today. He said that he would have to send my request to "administration" for them to try and locate the information and they would be in touch with me. I told him no, that I was difficult to get a hold of and I wanted to talk to someone now -- either his manager or the administrative people -- and get this resolved. He refused to let me talk to anyone else, but instead placed me on hold several times. I have been on hold the whole time I have been entering my complaint. I want my $46.00 back and I want to let everyone know that these people are horrible and thieves.

We appreciate that you gave JustAnswer a try, and we're sorry that it didn't work out. The refund has been processed from your end on 11/11/2019. It may take 3-5 business days for the funds to be returned to your PayPal account.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please reply to this email and I will promptly assist you.

First of all, I am very sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.
I reviewed your account and found that the customer service agents failed to recognize that your PayPal payment was being disputed. They should have escalated your inquiry to the admin folder so that we could log into PayPal and review the dispute. PayPal decided the dispute in our favor, which is why you didn't receive a refund. I have processed a refund of your $65 payment for you. PayPal will be sending you a refund notification within the next 24 hours. You should see the funds on your end in 3-5 days, or sooner.
I hope that I have resolved your concerns to your satisfaction. Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.

On Nov. 7 we were directed to this service by Samsung for a service question. They offered to answer our service question with a one week free trial. We were told we would get notification by email the day before a charge would be made on our credit card giving us the option to cancel. On the 13th we were looking for this notification, but it never arrived. On the 17th a charge of $46 appeared on our credit card. They refused to refund our money.

Unauthorized transactions on my card were taken for 4 months. I was unaware my card was being charged and request a full refund. They took $46 a month without my knowledge for 4 months. I spoke with a rep and she stated they would can cancel but for some reason cannot issue a refund. I stated if they look at their records, I have not used the service.

This is an observation based on my daughters transaction with JustAnswer Expert. My daughter claims the answer came from an authority in the wrong field. Recently she was charged the monthly membership fee. Based on other post, I am sure she was not aware of the terms of the agreement because of the method of which the service leads you into membership is based on a maneuver to distract your attention from the contractual agreement.
During my brief examination of JustAnser Expert, I have read several good and poor comments that have the appearance of being massaged and well managed by third party rating establishments. JustAnwer Expert appears to be running a legitimate service, but playing hardball with their clients with deceptive slight of hand maneuvers. They do appear to spend quite a bit of time politely JustAnswering complaints directed at them by reminding their angry clients that they failed to read the terms and conditions.
Contacted JustAnswer today (11/19/2019.) Submitted required $1.00 via credit card for 7 day trial membership as requested; able to be cancelled at anytime, within 7 days.
I was not satisfied, with the help received; therefore, I wished to cancel the present trial membership plus any future membership...
There are actually no instructions to cancel memberships found, but my desire to cancel, was noted on my final text to the tech 'expert', spoken with; who at that time, stated it would be taken care of and that text, was his last contact with me.
I have recently read complaints, that this company has automatically taken out future payments from others, who wished to and/or thought they cancelled!
With this, am keeping track of my credit card and seriously hope, this doesn't become a problem, like others have experienced. They'll be given credit, unless this happens; at which time I'll respond.
Hello ***
Thank you for reaching out to us about this.
We can confirm that your trial membership has been cancelled. You can continue to use the service to post questions, you will simply be asked to authorize a payment on a question by question basis moving forward.

Swarmy. Easy to sign up for trial and next to impossible to cancel. I signed up for the trial membership and went online to "chat" with their chat support where they first "hooked" me in. When I first went to chat with "***" she was very responsive and helped me find the right expert or direct my question. After 5 days I went back to "***" on the chat and as long as I used words like "hello" she would say "how can I help you" and would engage. The minute I used the words "please cancel" it would immediately respond that "*** has left the room" and that a "customer care representative would be with you shortly". It was on Saturday and Sunday that I repeatedly tried and no "customer care representative" ever came on to help me. No text back to say where to call. Obviously they wanted to make it difficult as possible and it was an incessant loop. I tried to cancel again Monday morning but no response. I was charged $59. I finally talked to a supervisor who refused to refund despite the time I wasted on Sat and Sun waiting for the "customer care" representative trying to cancel. She demanded screen shots to "proove" I tried to cancel. Seriously? Don't do it.

ZERO stars!!! Do not try them!!!! SCAM!!!!
I signed up for the 7 day trial to help resolve a cable/TV issue. They did not help fix the problem. I cancelled my membership immediately, within an hour of signing up.
I received at least 4 emails regarding my membership and how they could do so much more for me. I replied to ask that I not receive any more emails. Essentially, I said, "take my dollar and go a way!" The following month I was charged $40 for membership. I called and was told through broken English that my $40 was refunded. This month I received my credit card statement and see another $40 charge from the day prior to my call. I just called again and was told that the last charge was refunded, not the original. I demanded another refund of the original charge and have been assured that will occur and that I will not be charged any more. We'll see...

This company is a scam, and an identity theft operation if there ever was one.
I "purchased" an answer from the site (the person who answers my questions seems to be the only one online, ever), from a lawyer named "***", who claims to be a lawyer in Ontario, Canada. I asked her several questions in regards to a serious landlord and tenant dispute I was having, and she gave me completely out-of-date information (she just basically gave me a phone number to call, which I knew was not being answered due to provincial budget cuts and by personal experience prior with other related matters). I wanted to proceed to let her know the error, and suddenly, a "rate your lawyer" pop-up came up, which I arbitrarily clicked on 5 Stars to get the popup to go away, so that the conversation could continue. It never did. She disappeared.
I checked my visa statement several days later, and JustAnswer had billed me twice - $5 for the initial question, and $66 Cdn for a "subscription" service I NEVER signed up for.
In addition, for weeks now, ever since the encounter with this company, I have been inundated with texts from "***" advertising her services. There are NO links or options to disable this incessant advertising.
I contacted JustAnswer's customer service through their chat bot, and was able to get an actual person after I lost my cool and asked to speak to a "human". Hardly. "***" kept repeating everything I said, almost down to the letter. After about 10 minutes of this, I directly asked Manuel if he would refund the costs (as per their advertised 100% guarantee), and stop the subscription. He responded by saying that neither of the requested refunds would be made, but never gave a clear answer as to why.
I have no doubt now that I'll have to contact my bank to block their transactions. I highly suspect they will charge me for the subscription next month as well, with no remorse or return.
Garbage business is not even the word....

Hello,
Wayyyyyy back in September of 2018 my elderly mother with a VERY LIMITED income asked a question on Justanswer. She was charged $5 and then she apparently was signed up for a monthly subscription. She sent an email the same day on September 4th, 2018 to *** asking to have the membership cancelled. She sent another one the same day to *** on the same day. (Like I said she is elderly and technology is tough for her.) She was charged the $5 for the first question and then was charged $45 a month from September-Dec. Then on December 19, 2018 she sent another email to ***
At that point I became aware of the situation and called the company. They said they would credit back her credit card all of the charges. I heard from my mother today that they only credited back the December charge. We would like ALL of the money back as she did cancel her membership on the same day she used justanswer for the first and only time.
Hello ***
We're very sorry that your mother had problems cancelling the membership and with getting a full refund. Please let us know the email address associated with your mother's JustAnswer account. Once we are able to locate the account we can assist with your refund request.
We look forward to your reply.

I accepted a "FREE" trial from "Just Answer" they charged my credit card on October 6, 2019 $5.00 .for a question I asked. and didn't realize I was going to have to pay for the answer because it stated that this was a "FREE" trial. Then on October 16, 2019 they charged on my credit card $46.00 for a membership fee. I contacted the company today November 17, 2019 because my credit card statement had just arrived in the mail yesterday to speak to someone about this matter. They stated that the "Free" trial was only for 7 days and then the monthly membership fees kick in. But, the thing is they have billed me and it wasn't even a month!!! I feel like this is consumer fraud. They should either reimburse me part of my membership fee because as I stated it hasn't been a month or refund me all of my fees because they are con artist.
Hello ***
We're very sorry for any confusion or misunderstanding. The only free trial offer that we have is where customers pay full price for their first question. The offer you received was to pay $5 to post your first question and have a 7 day trial of the membership program.
When you visited our site and began the process of posting your question, you were met with several messages from us explaining how you are signing up for a Trial Membership to run for 7 days, starting from when you post your first question. If the trial period was not canceled within that 7-day window, your account would transition into a full membership, where we would collect a monthly payment from you each month until you decide to cancel the service. This was all readily displayed for you when you were submitting your billing information before your first question was posted. We also send a Subscription Reminder email before your first billing date to announce that your trial period is coming to an end and that your first membership payment is coming up. Additionally, your bank or credit card statement is a record of the monthly payment from JustAnswer.
Although your payment is not eligible for a refund under our terms of service, as a courtesy to you we have refunded the October and November membership payments for you. The funds are made available to your bank the next business day, however, the bank may take 3-5 business days to release the funds back to your account depending on their policy.
Moving forward, you will not see any recurring membership charges. The account is now on a pay-per-question basis and will only be charged when a new question is posted. In the future, if you would like to have the membership reinstated, please let us know.
I hope that I have addressed all of your concerns. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

used this service on 08-26 for a 1 time service. I did not agree to a montly membership fee. Company charged me a montly fee in Sept, Oct and November. I called on Nov 16th to inquire anout this. I was informed no refund. Again, I did not plan, intend or wish to have a montly service from this company. From the complaints at the Revdex.com, this appears to be a common deceptive trade practice.

I am an 80 year old woman who thought I contacted Apple support. My younger friend said said I shouldn’t have had to pay up front, the $5. When the bill came for $40, I was shocked. The person did not make it clear to me that I would be paying that price and they barely helped me. It is also too late for me to get a refund on their site. I am beside myself. I was tricked and feel robbed by this company.

When a customer posts a question on JustAnswer, they choose or are shown the full price they are willing to pay for a satisfactory answer. The charge for the question is at the top of the page where you input your payment information. If you have credit card shown, it shows the $5 deposit and the balance deposit when an Expert responds. I've provided a sample screenshot below of the question charge showing the full payment. You can test it out as well by going to our website and going through the first two steps of posting a question (you will not have to enter any payment information to see this).
Credit card screen - ***
After checking your account, I can see $40 was the total cost for your question. Once the question is posted, an initial $5 deposit is made and when an Expert responds, the balance of the deposit is made, in this case the remaining balance was $35. While the deposit is transferred to your JustAnswer account when an Expert responds, it remains in your JustAnswer account until you rate your Expert positively.
We have a 100% customer satisfaction policy, if you do not get an answer or you do not get a satisfactory answer, you are entitled to a full refund.
Per your request, I have processed a refund of your deposit. You should see the funds back in your account within 3-5 days, maybe sooner depending on your bank.
I hope that I have resolved your concerns to your satisfaction. Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.
Best regards,
Ms. Chase
