I contacted Just Answer with a question about a printer and they provided no solution so I had to get rid of the printer in question. I have since bought myself a laser printer which works fine. I thought I would be charged $1.00 which is what the information I received from them was worth but instead they have billed me the $1.00 plus $40.00. I think they should not be able to charge me the $40.00.

I have been trying to go online and cancel my trial membership and I can't. I have been on the page and it says it will connect me to someone on customer service and it never does. I want to cancel my trial before getting charged more money like everyone else claims they do. I can't cancel without doing the online chat which seems to not work on either of my computers and keeps telling me to refresh the page. I would like to cancel now before being charged more money! BE CAREFUL. SCAM

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I had a trial membership with this company and decided to end my membership. I thought I had done so but the website is so vague as to cancellation. I hit cancel account but apparently that's not the same as cancel membership. So they have charged me twice since then for a total of $58.00. I have not used tge service and they refuse to give me a refund. They say I don't qualify. How would I not qualify for a refund for a service I haven't used and tried to cancel? I have since made sure my account won't be charged again. But these online companies make cancellation so difficult so they can charge you over and over. I thought my account was cancelled twice via the website but apparently if you cancel on the site its not a real cancellation which they definitely dont trll you. How can this be a good business? And their customer service is awful. Not helpful at all. Im very tired of these companies and how they take advantage.

I was told there would be a $1 to speak to a specialist to fix my printer problem. I spoke with him and he informed me that there would be a $39 fee which I agreed to. I didn't see where I would be charged every month. I haven't used the service in over 90 days, and don't want to ever use them again.

I signed up for a one time use $5 service. They have started billing me monthly for $53 subscription. Their instructions are to cancel your subscription through the "My accounts" page. I never created an account, and therefore cannot log in to the "My accounts page". I have no way to disable this subscription and never asked to be signed up for a recurring membership. If you check the other complaints on this site this company is a chronic offender in this regard.

Months ago, I asked a question to this Q&A website, justanswer***. No one could answer the question, though they kept telling me that "'Someone would try to answer it soon," (something like that). No one EVER answered it, yet they still charged me. I asked for a refund for the question, and I'm not sure that I EVER was given a full discount.

Later, though (a few months later), I happened to see, by accident, that there was a charge (a draft), to my checking account for "$46.00", and it said: "JustAnswer Membership Fee". Well, I never asked for, or agreed to, in ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, ANY sort of "membership" from justanswer*** (nor WOULD I HAVE, HAD IT BEEN $1 per month).

I sent justanswer*** Customer Service several detailed, polite e-mails, telling them this exact same thing, and I asked for a refund. (I looked back, and saw that they had charged my checking account, FOUR (4) CONSECUTIVE MONTHS) - of $46 EACH MONTH - WITHOUT MY CONSENT, OR MY KNOWLEDGE, for a total of $184. I am, and can prove, that I am SSI Mentally Disabled, and I feel that I was taken advantage of (though they did not know of my disability), but they did not respond to my e-mail requests for a $184 refund to my chkg acct. / or M/C debit card, nor was a refund given. Nothing happened, whatsoever.

(ALSO: I did NOT USE this "justanswer" q&a service, ONCE, during these 4 "membership"' months, nor did I even KNOW that I was being charged FOR a membership.)

Thank you.

Firstly, I am sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.

I cannot check your account because the email address you've provided here pulls up an account from 2011, where you asked a legal/divorce question. I will need the correct email address in order to assist. If you do not remember the email on the account, you can provide the first 6 and last 4 digits of the card that was charged as well as the date and the amount. We do not need any other info off of the card and we don't need the full card number. Then we can have our billing department locate the charge.
It sounds like you may have signed up for the discounted $1-$5 question with the 7 day free trial membership. As with any membership or subscription trial, if you do not cancel before the end of the trial, you will automatically be charged for your first month to avoid any disruption in service. First response is inadequate, then there is a pressure sale for an immediate more in depth response and really difficult to cancel the membership. Still getting the run around with it and they are still billing me month after the cancellation request. Finally, had to put a block on it. Don't waste you money!

Last December I sought help from Just Answer and paid what I thought was a one-time fee. I just now found out that I have been getting charged $46 per month for the last nine months and I have not used the service. I did not receive any invoice or statement by US mail or email for the monthly billing. I have since canceled my "membership" and am kicking myself for not seeing the monthly charges on my bank statement sooner. Had I any notice by the company, via an invoice either by email or snail mail, I would have canceled my "membership" right then and there. Maybe they are willing to reimburse me for "membership" service charges I did not use. I sure hope so. As it is now, I feel taken, which sucks. It just doesn't seem like a fair business practice to not invoice someone being billed for services not rendered. Shame on me, and shame on you Just Answer!

Hello ***,
Thanks for letting us know about this. We're sorry for any confusion about the payment for the site.
The membership charge amount and information is presented to all customers on the payment page prior to entering any billing information. After the question is posted and the membership is agreed to, we send a receipt E-mail, as well as a payment reminder E-mail, 3-days prior to the recurring billing.
Please reach out to us if you need any further assistance and we're happy to help in any way we can.

Be careful with that "$5" trial membership. Make sure you cancel and get something in writing from them indicating that it was cancelled. If not, you will continue to have your credit card used for the membership you may not want or need. They don't refund or do anything. I will NEVER use Just Answer again.

Very Disappointed with JustAnswer: I went on line to seek advice on the 08/08/19 in regards to my computer emails. I went to the JustAnswer website, I asked a question in regards to this, which sent me to a credit card site where I thought I was trying their services for a fee of $2.00 Trial. Where after several attempts lodging my question, being disconnected, I did finally receive help from a pleasant Gentleman, his name I cannot remember, & after trying several ways to fix the problem, we both agreed that I should see my local technician as we could not resolve the issue. I thanked him for his efforts. I got a notification from my bank early hours on the morning of 15/09/19 that $70.00 had come out of my account on the 14/09/19. I quickly rang the bank to see where it went. And it went to Just/Answere. I was Gobsmacked…Why? was my first question?. I then rang JustAnswer. After speaking to the representative. I was told that she would cancel my membership. And that she could not refund me the $70.00. And that I could continue to ask questions and enjoy membership benefits until the 13/10/19. when initially it was on a trial basis So was I being charged in advance?, and why can’t I get my money refunded? when I under no circumstances did I agree to being a member. So confusing, apparently they had been trying to get this out of my account several times. I have never agreed to become a member. This is unbelievable and disappointing.

I was routed to the top of the search page results for labor & industries in Washington State. I was trying to make a complaint against my employer when I was prompted to fill in personal and personal information. I paid the $5 trial thinking that it was procedure to get to the Washington state l&I. Once I was in the chat forum the person receiving questions simply directed me to contact Washington State labor & industries. I read over the fine print a week later when I was charged $60 and nowhere in it did it say that I would be charged $60 after 7 days. this business is predatory. When I called the woman on the phone immediately asked for my credit card information. Not my name or email as that would have been appropriate I refuse to provide my entire credit card information simply to identify me as a client they should have had my credit card information already if they charged me $60. They have no right to charge $60 seeing as they never provided me proper service from their "experts". I am upset at the overpriced $65 negotiation for a service that was undesirable if any service at all was provided which I don't think it was. once again I feel it is predatory that they did not disclose the proper information after a 7-Day trial you would be charged more than 10 times what the cost of the trial. In this country you have to provide a service to be charging that much money. By the nature of our conversation on the phone I feel that this business is illegitimate and is in fact a scam. Since when can you just charge people money for nothing? This is in part due to the Google search at the top of the page but nevertheless a scam. I see that they are registered with the Golden State business bureau and have a 3-star rating 300 out of 1000 reviews are negative and I would very much like to add to the negative.

Hi ***,

Thank you for contacting JustAnswer.

We know that sometimes an online answer is just not enough. As such, you can receive additional help from the Experts on JustAnswer. An Expert can help you achieve a more complete solution with a variety of services such as but not limited to a live phone call, live video call, document preparation and more!

Expert Services are premium services outside of JustAnswer's standard question-and-answer platform. They may be conducted off the website (either by phone, chat, email, remote desktop or any other third-party tool) but remain for general informational services only.

Customers have the ability to request a premium service using the offer found on their question page. If an Expert thinks the customer could use some additional help, they may extend a service offer which will be displayed on the question page.

Per your request, we've cancelled the Premium Service charge. The deposit of $26 was cancelled so quickly, only an authorization of funds was processed. An authorization is a hold that your card issuer places on your funds and is not an actual charge. You will not receive a credit back to your account since a charge was not processed, but the authorization shown on your card statement should drop off, usually within 3-5 business days, and it'll be as if the transaction never occurred.

Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.

Best Wishes

Firstly, I am sorry for any confusion you have experienced with our site.

I checked your account and your emails with us. You were charged twice for the Premium Service because you accepted it on two separate questions. The first payment was cancelled and you would not have seen a refund, the charge would have simply dropped off. Due the the customer care agents confusion, they inadvertantly refunded the other $26 charge, removing the payment from the agent who assisted you. On the same day 9/13/19, we refunded the membership paymnet taken on 9/5/2019.

I had a GREAT counsel experience with my lawyer *** I would recommend this site for anyone needing a few legal questions answered for very-very-small fee. Worth it all the way!

Just Answer is a scam in my book. I tried for hours to get an answer a friend finally gave me while driving home using just her phone. I needed to find a password for my WiFi to my computer to setup a ROKU on the TV. Turns out all the info I needed was on my router. Just Answer did NOT seem to know that but my friend did. One Just Answer expert sent me to their $1.00 start up offer to reask the question and claimed I could cancel any time. The best anyone could do was tell me an expert would call me in less than 15 minutes. I continued to search for an answer and over 3 to 4 hours later I got nothing. I was fortunate my friend knew what Just Answer had not clue about. When I asked where I was calling it was not in the USA and I have found many scams are conducted by businesses from other countries with people who know nothing about your situations. They do have a PO Box in SF. To the Revdex.com, how does one provide a star rate when there are no minus or negative stars? One is way too high in my opinion.

Similar complaint as everyone else.

JustAnswer offers $1.00 trial but does not provide adequate information that trials must cancel service within seven-days. The result was I was charged $46.00 for a membership I never wanted, Company refused to credit cancelled, which did not appear until Amex bill arrives. I do not remember receiving via email a "Welcome to Membership" notification.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I purchased a service with JustAnswer to consult with a lawyer regarding a legal issue. I paid the telephone consultation $59 plus a $5 trial fee that is required if you purchase services from them. Their policy is if you do not terminate the trail membership after 7 days then they charge you a monthly membership fee of $60. I called to terminate my trial membership fee but was informed that because it was several days after the 7 day trial period then the monthly membership fee is non-refundable. I protested this fee but realized I did accept the terms of their trial membership. I submitted my request to terminate my membership immediately. I was sent an email stating that before they process my request they will extend my membership an additional 15 days to give me a chance to change my mind. I have sent another request to terminate my membership effectively immediately.

My complaint is that this company is engaging in unfair business practices to continue charging me their monthly membership fee by continuing to extend my membership instead of terminating my membership immediately as requested. Then if I don't give them an answer after the additional 15 days then they would likely charge me again for their monthly membership fee as they did before.

I explained to their customer service representative that most companies offer the option of trial membership or just pay solely for the service desired. Their website has no such option. The customer service representative told me that their website does offer such an option when, in fact, that is false. In my opinion, this is another unfair business practice by forcing customers to purchase their trial membership for 7 days and having to call them to cancel prior to the end of the trial to avoid a NON-REFUNDABLE monthly membership fee of $60. The fact that their own customer service representative denied this practice is indicative of their own awareness that is an unfair business practice. Otherwise, they should be willing to admit that this lack of an option is their policy.

Hello,

My name is Chase and I am with the customer care team at JustAnswer. I received a copy of your complaint filed through the Revdex.com and I’d like to help with your concerns.

Firstly, I am sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.

After checking your account, I can see that you signed up for the discounted $5 question with the 7 day free trial membership. As with any membership or subscription trial, if you do not cancel before the end of the trial, you will automatically be charged for your first month to avoid any disruption in service. Additionally, we send out emails welcoming you to the membership and an email is sent before your trial is ending.

Per our terms of service that you agreed to when you enrolled in the membership, the membership payment is not eligible for a refund as stated in section 10, subheading "Refunds, Cancellations, Abuse and Special Programs" as follows;

***

We do have a pay per question mode, which your account defers to automatically once the membership is cancelled. Although your payment is not eligible for a refund under our terms of service, as a courtesy to you we have refunded the membership payment for you. The funds are made available to your bank the next business day, however, the bank may take 3-5 business days to release the funds back to your account depending on their policy.

I hope that I have resolved your concerns to your satisfaction. Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.

Best regards,

Ms. Chase

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

Just answer is a scam. They request 5 dollars to submit a question and the try to up sale you to a phone call. The repair answer I got was something looked up on the internet. It didn't work so I accept it was a waste of my time and 5 dollars. 7 days later they began billing my credit card for 34 dollars. I noticed 2 months later and was told they only refund the latest charge. This is a scam and should not be allowed to operate.
