On July 2nd, I purchased a $5. trial question from from Just Answer. Nothing more. They kept sending me additional emails and after several, I told them to stop as I wasn't interested in their product and the answer I got was wrong enough that I didn't want any further to do with them. On July 9th, they processed a $52 "subscriber" fee against my account. I started to file a complaint with Paypal and I called Just Answer. They told me they would credit me the $52 and cancel my account. This was on or about July 10th. I never received a confirmation. I did withdraw my complaint with Paypal, which meant I couldn't resubmit it. I did not get my refund. So far, the only thing they seem to have done is canceled my subscription account so I don't get any more bills but I guess we will see if that is true.
I wrote 4 emails to their customer service email address about the issue without any response.
On July 22nd, I again called their customer service phone and they again said they would give me a refund but they have not since processed it. I believe this is a scam and they are trying to run out the clock on my complaints. I am filing this complaint and will file a scam complaint next in order to get my money refunded. I hope you can help me.3
Hello,
My name is Chase and I am with the customer care team at JustAnswer. I received a copy of your complaint filed through the Revdex.com and I’d like to help with your concerns.
Firstly, I am sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.
After checking your account, I can see that you signed up for the discounted $5 question with the 7 day free trial membership. Normally questions can range between $25 and up. Customers receive the discounted question by agreeing to the trial. As with any membership or subscription trial, if you do not cancel before the end of the trial, you will automatically be charged for your first month to avoid any disruption in service. Additionally, we send out emails welcoming you to the membership and an email is sent before your trial is ending.
Per our terms of service that you agreed to when you enrolled in the membership, the membership payment is not eligible for a refund as stated in section 10, subheading "Refunds, Cancellations, Abuse and Special Programs" as follows;
***
Although your payment is not eligible for a refund under our terms of service, as a courtesy I can see we have refunded the membership payment for you on 7/22/19. The funds are made available to your bank the next business day, however, the bank may take 3-5 business days to release the funds back to your account depending on their policy.
I hope that I have resolved your concerns to your satisfaction. Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.

After I was let go from my job last week unexpectedly, I felt I was let go wrongfully. I was distraught from the news and was I was looking for an attorney online in my area. Just to get legal advice. As I could not afford an attorney, per se.
"Just Answer," popped up, claiming that I could ask up to 3 questions, to an attorney for $5.00 good for 7 days.
What I did not see is;
"You must cancel your 7-day trial. or you will be charged $53.00 membership!!! I can see by the complaints here at Revdex.com that over 350 other people did not see this either. Which should be in bold print under the offer.
I am 60 years of age, with failing eye sight. I needed help. I didn't see it.
I was charge $53.00. I am besides myself. No gas money now to get to
interviews.
I was filing for financial assistance and my bank statement showed a 53.00 fee from
Just Answer. I called and asked for a refund, When I was told no, I asked if there is anyone above her, that could help me. She said, no - you wont get a refund you passed your 7-day trial ad, this is a website business. There is no one you can talk too.
I told her I was going to file a complaint.
She said she was sorry.
I am very upset about this. Taking advantage of people in need.
I want a 53.00 refund.
They got my 5.00 for asking one question.

Signed up for my "free" trial to get an estimate for an original Currier & Ives lithograph. Some of these pieces sell for over $100k. Their "appraiser" told me it was worth $34. That's unbelievably low, as in literally not believable. I found an auction record from two years ago that had that same piece selling at $1,700. This sounds like he found a poster of it online and gave me the price of that. If I can't trust what they say, then what good is this service? I signed up and cancelled my subscription in less than an hour.
Hello *** We're sorry for any confusion.
In reviewing the conversation that you had with the appraiser it appears that he apprised the value of the item at between $1000 and $1500 there doesn't appear to be any mention of a value of $34 anywhere in the conversation actually.

We'll go ahead and reach out to you privately to get a better idea of what you might have seen.

Customer has a service I tried to use unsuccessfully back in December. I cancelled the service the same day and thought I had done so. I saw a charge in January and spoke again with the service. The said it was canceled again. 7 months later I find out they never cancelled. I call back in ... They acknowledge the error but wont give back all the money they stole saying its their policy. I want my money they stole.

After checking your account, I can see that one our Customer Service Supervisors was able to confirm that you tried to cancel and refunded your membership charges on 7/31, the same day you filed this report. The funds would have been made available to you within 3-5 days, maybe sooner depending on your credit processor.

I had cancelled my membership before the end of my 7 day trial over a month ago and was only now charged the membership fee for $46 resulting in multiple overdrafts and issues. The company refuses to even refund the amount after I clearly stated I Cancelled the membership before the 7 days was over per there contract and they can see I had not even attempted to use their site after that time. They also have no right to collect funds over a month after when they would have initially collected had I not cancelled, which I did. In addition they have a satisfaction guarantee that they are not upholding either!

I'd call this 'shady advertising'. I used JustAnswer's service once, on 6/23, to get an answer on my motorcycle turn signal light bulb via chat, and never once talked to the Expert (which is an option for an additional fee); his solution was quick & easy once I gave him my indicators. I had a positive view of this company and that service, until I reviewed my credit card statement yesterday, and noticed not one but two $34 billings, on 3 July and 30 July. When I contacted JustAnswer to cancel my 'membership' and refund these charges, they refused, yesterday, and again today.
Although I would not be surprised to find this 'agreement' to 'automatically become a member after 7-days' in their website small print somewhere, I never gave JustAnswer express written permission to bill my credit card for membership fees, regardless of how many unanswered (and unread until today) emails they sent me after this one-time, 10-min chat session. I clearly did not know or understand that automatic membership commenced after 7-days had passed, and that I would subsequently be billed not once, but twice, for this monthly $34 fee.
I believe this to be a deceptive & fraudulent business model.
I am requesting my two $34 fees be returned. I had not logged into their website from 6/23 until yesterday, and find it absurd that they are trying to justify charging me theses fees because I had 'the ability to ask them any question during this time period'.

I had a legal question to ask regarding my visa as a student. Now as a student I have limited small sum of money. Thus I thought I would choose JustAnswer to ask a question for a $5 trial and will also pay additional charges if needed. I thought the answer would help, but it wasn't of much help since I needed to clarify the issue with my school and I didn't have enough information to tell them anything with the advice I got on this website. Now I got an additional overdraft fee from my bank as well. I also got charged for the second month when I didn't use the service.

I used JustAnswer because Skype recommended them. They solved my problem for $1.00, which I had no problem with. My problem is that they “forced” me to sign up for a $46 membership that I did NOT want. I tried every option they offered to not do this, including their “opt-out” button. It did not work. They have now charged my credit card the $46.00, which I am now having to dispute. I think this is a scam!

I did NOT enroll in anything! As soon as I noticed that I was going to be charged $46, I tried everything I could to “opt-out”, including hitting their “opt-out” button, all to no avail! They are running a scam! I would find it very difficult to believe that I am alone in complaining about “Just Answer”! How did they ever get an A+ rating from the Revdex.com?
Thank you!

Hello,
Thank you for your response and I do apologize for any confusion.
Questions on the site can cost $25 and higher to speak to a professional. Customers who accept the deeply discounted $1 or $5 question are informed that they are also accepting the 7 day free trial. Our free trial are the same as any other; you must cancel before the end of the trial to avoid further charges.

I signed up for a 7 day trial with JUST ANSWER *EXPERT and then received a $66 charge on my credit card. At no time did the company advise that the trial period was over.
Contacted them, and they refised to reimburse me.

I recently signed up for the Just Answer, $5 trial. While I was unable to find an answer to my question I had considered keeping the service, as they have a variety of professionals available. However, on the seventh day, when I looked at my bank account, $66 had already been deducted from my account. I was heading to the site to make my final decision and it seems like that was taken out of my hands. When I chatted with a customer service rep. They explained that the 28th was the 7th day. And yet, I can find no mention in any of the e-mails I have received from them or in my initial contact as to why it was only 6 days. I should have been able to make my decision on the 7th day. They scammed me good. I cancelled and made them send me an e-mail stating that I cancelled, however at no point did the suggestions of returning my $66 ever come up. Unbelievable!

I signed up for justask that ADVERTISES ON THEIR WEBSITE 5$ trial that is fully refundable. It says it is fully refundable and I asked for that refund a day later- after not getting ANY ANSWERS! They told me that I should be more careful with who I give my information to online and that they were not going to refund my money. After reading the horrific reviews and experiences of others I am terrified that they will continue to charge me for things. I can not have my bank account compromised. I have called several times and I keep getting disconnected after holding for extremely long periods. HOW IS THIS BUSINESS ABLE TO EXIST? they should be sued and shut down. They have scammed dozens of people, who are looking for HELP, out of so much money. I am on hold as I type this. This is shameful. Predatory.

I had a one week trial with Just Answer. I was told I would be warned by email when my trial expired. I started my trial at 4:00 pm on July 20. I cancelled at 7:40 am this morning July 27. These times are EDT. I tried to cancel earlier in the morning on a chat and *** said that she would contact a supervisor to get me an extra month free. While waiting for a response since it wasn't immediate, I checked other email. When I checked back on the chat a few minuted later (it was still open on my browser), the message was something to the effect that I was no longer there so the chat was discontinued. When I tried to renew the chat, I kept getting the page of my question history and then was told the chat feature was no longer available. When I called Customer Service, I was told it was the 8th day so I was charged for another month. They said they emailed me to warn me. The email is entitled "Welcome to Just Answer!" and has a long description of their benefits. Only upon scrolling down to the bottom would one find the message that the trial period was ending. I am very dissatisfied with this business and do not believe their claim at the top of their site "Your satisfaction is our #1 priority"

I thought I was paying $5 for an answer, but it turned out that I was paying that for the privilege of signing up for a monthly fee of $34.99. I received a satisfactory answer. I got a call from my bank regarding the $35 charge as possible fraud. I did not report it as fraud once I realized what happened. I called Just Answer's customer service and was told that since I gave them permission to charge me if I did not cancel within 7 days there was nothing I could do.
I do not argue that I didn't sign up for the service. I did. But the way it is marketed, it is easy to not realize what is actually happening. It is no surprise that people complain often about this service. You don't have lie out right to deceive customers. The ruse is simple. Tell people they can get started for $5. They'll do it. Were they clear it was for an answer or the down payment on a monthly membership? The number of complaints indicates that most think they are paying for an answer and that is all. Legally they've got you. Morally it cannot be justified.

I paid a small fee for a 7 day trial of their service and at no stage was I aware I was also signing up for membership. I know there was a fee for membership but it was not stated that this trial membership auto became a full membership. Their site says “try 7 days for just $5. Then $43/month.” It does not say if you take the trial then you are auto signing up for the $46/month. It is not implied or stated. The inference is that post the trial if you want or liked the service then to keep it would cost the fee stated. Where does it say you have to cancel within the trial to not have the automatic enrolment? On top of this once I was informed that I was in some sort of membership I cancelled immediately and as per their initial email to me it makes no mention of the pending fee post the trial – it just gives the date when the trial ends. I clearly did not uses their service beyond the trial period & I cancelled on day 7 once I was informed about the membership. I am getting computer written emails denying my claim.
Hello,
My name is Chase and I am with the customer care team at JustAnswer. I received a copy of your complaint filed through the Revdex.com and I’d like to help with your concerns.
Firstly, I am sorry for any problems you have experienced with our site.
After checking your account, I can see that you signed up for the discounted $5 question with the 7 day free trial membership. As with any membership or subscription trial, if you do not cancel before the end of the trial, you will automatically be charged for your first month to avoid any disruption in service. Additionally, we send out emails welcoming you to the membership and an email is sent before your trial is ending.
Per our terms of service that you agreed to when you enrolled in the membership, the membership payment is not eligible for a refund as stated in section 10, subheading "Refunds, Cancellations, Abuse and Special Programs" as follows;

Although your payment is not eligible for a refund under our terms of service, as a courtesy to you we have refunded the membership payment for you. The funds are made available to your bank the next business day, however, the bank may take 3-5 business days to release the funds back to your account depending on their policy.
I hope that I have resolved your concerns to your satisfaction. Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with and I would be happy to help.
Best regards,

I never signed up for this program and was charged a $46.00 membership fee, on my credit card which they refuse to refund.

This is a common complaint with this company, which I am sure they would fix if it were not so profitable for them. It involves a 7 day free trial, which I will never accept again, which at the end of the trial you are charged a membership fee which is non refundable. This is offered while you are posing a question and are distracted with the process, not while you are focus on what is being asked. This well documented by the number of complaints that are filed with this same experience on all sites that accept complaints. It is a problem that the company is aware of and does not fix.
