I am rejecting this response because: When I called to cancel, I was not told of the policy for shipping and all the charges In fact, I was told it was put on hold for months When I first signed up, I was also informed that as long as I don't sign anything I could get a refund Nothing was ever shipped to me I never started classes, I never signed anything No one ever told me that I could not receive a refund I did get a voice mail saying that as a courtesy I don't owe anything more, however, I don't feel it should be a courtesy I paid $49/month for about months for classes I never attended, nor did I ever sign anything, and not once did anyone ever tell me that I could not receive a refund I am very disappointed in the lack of communication, and how they're saying the informed me when I cancelled of their policy I was not told I was told that it was on hold for months Cancelling it all together is fine But I feel as I have been taken advantage of, and I am very distraught by the whole thing I honestly don't think I should've been charged at all for anything since I never signed anything I didn't even take the assessments I felt like I was brushed off when I called, and to get this resolved

Penn Foster is an incompetent online place to get a high school diplomaThis place is self-paced on both sides of the equationThe graders do not consider your submitted electronic work to be a priorityWork will sit in their box for at least to business days or longerThey seem to not put in the extra effort to grading work over the weekend even though they claim graders have a work loadThis is an online atmosphere and there’s plenty enough time to pick up your responsibilitiesThey pride themselves with being a self-paced environment but you will not move consistently at the students pace Graduation can’t come until they grade your workThese complaints go back at least two years and they’ve done nothing to improve the outcome for new studentsStudents who pay in full up front are disregarded in this way tooI wonder if they’re purposely stalling to add or change course material so students who have completed the work but are waiting on them to grade it will have some sort of financial added responsibilityIt’s like they don’t want the student to finishThe individuals who claim that they graduated could be imposters posing as students to lure others into the programTheir student portal doesn’t have any real flow of communicationThe postings in the student forums are from previous years there’s not much communication traffic flowing through thereAn unprofessional staff working at Penn Foster will post real names of students instead usernames for forumsThey will address student issues right there on the forum instead of privately communicating with the student a dissatisfied studentI’ve never seen a brick and motor school post students information on a forumThey need to work on addressing the grading problemThis issue makes their organization look bad and it turns away future studentsThey should be able to post positive improvements to their system instead of fighting down true and real comments from dissatisfied peopleIt is unacceptable to take to days to grade papers sent electronically

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I was under the impression that I bought an online training course from Penn Foster that would allow me to be a practicing optician within one yearI called in on the Penn Foster 1-number and that's what the salesman told meSo I bought the course to be billed on a monthly basisI then went in to *** *** and they told me that in order to be a practicing optician I needed two years of education, not oneThey had never heard of the Penn Foster school and informed me that to be a practicing optician I needed two years of education, not oneThey had never heard of Penn Foster and suggested that I call the State Board of Opticianry to determine the legitimacy of the so called "school" I had signed up for! So I then called up the State of Virginia Board of Licensing for OpticianryI was then informed that I could take a two year course at the local community college, ** *** ***, and be a practicing optician, and receive a legitimate associate's degreeThis information also concurred with the information I received at *** ***The Virginia Board of Licensing for Opticianry also informed me that if I took the one year Penn Foster course, (This is a point of record.) I would have to work as an apprentice optician for additional yearsIn other words, in order to be a practicing optician with the Penn Foster course I would be taking a four year program to be a practicing optician instead of the one year program they advertisedSo I bought a course that was supposed to make me a practicing optician in one year and it will notThe worst part about the course is that it penalizes people who take it by an extra three years and no associates or bachelor's degree come with the four year Penn Foster "school." And I use the term 'school" looselyIf I actually went to the local community college I would have a legitimate associate's degree and be a practicing optician within two yearsThe perfect analogy for the Penn Foster optician "school's" misrepresented year opticiany program: An auto dealership is advertising a car that will get you to your destination in half the time it usually takesAfter taking delivery of the vehicle it turns out it only runs in reverse and takes twice as long to get to the destination that wayThe auto dealer would never be able to get away with selling a vehicle like this! Don't let Penn Foster get away with it eitherIt's a classic case of misrepresentation, bait and switch: internet fraudNow I know the Federal Trade Commission does not have enough time to keep up with the massive fraud that occurs with internet advertising, but we can only do our part as good citizens in this great country of ours to stop each fraudelent Penn Foster advertising case one by oneMy *** *** credit card agreed with my dispute after investigating the legitimacy of the Penn Foster claims and would not pay Penn FosterNow I have been sent to collections by Penn Foster for not paying for their "school." and I want my money back
