Once-purchase click bait
The website used the one-click purchase baits "Module eCertificate" that I never receive it to get the unauthorized and unconscious payment from customers.

The date it happened is 8 July 2020, and the transaction ID is 53GXXXXXLKXXXXXXJ with the amount $39.95, paid through Paypal

I am very disappointed and stressful because nobody answers my requests when I mailed to them, and as a result, I have no choice to turn to dispute from my bank and paypal.

Desired Outcome

Just get the refund back right away

Shaw Academy Response • Jul 10, 2020

Hi ***,

I have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged $39.95 USD for the purchase (Module E Certificate) you made via our one click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non refundable charge. Please write to us at ***@shawacademy.com if any further assistance needed.

Regards,
Shaw Academy

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I want the refund. They tricked customers to lure people to pay what they don't want via one-click purchase. They placed the purchase button in a way that people mostly mis-click and hard to perform the website. Also, the product is not as described fully when purchase. I haven't received anything except a little note to say that I purchased that. Several people also complain about this dirty trick.

Shaw Academy Response • Jul 14, 2020

We are very sorry for the inconvenience you faced. However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase. Just in case a customer has failed to see that, we have also added a disclaimer on the banner itself. We are sorry to inform you that the refund is not possible. Refund are given in situation where we as an organisation have failed to cancel the account even after the customer has requested to cancel before the trial period. As far as we are concern we have upheld our part of the contract with you. Unfortunately we are unable to provide you a refund.

Shaw Academy

Canceled trial subscription IN WRITING within free-trial period, and have been billed full subscription with company claiming I did not cancel.
Signed up for a free trial of Shaw Academy online learning program, company claimed no charges if cancelled within 28 days. I signed up the April 7th, and went through a tedious process of attempting to cancel, the weekend of May 2/3. On May fourth, I finally contacted the company by email (below), and only ever received automatic replies.

"Hello! My name is (omitted) and I'd like to cancel my trial membership before I am billed (supposedly tomorrow). Turns out this wasn't good timing for me to take a course. :/ I was told I had to call to cancel, referencing number XXXXX. I tried calling the number given (XXXX XXX XXXX) both with and without the zero at the beginning of the number, and it was invalid. I searched a number online and was given an automated messaging saying I would need to contact by email, and given this address.

Please cancel my subscription, I will be monitoring my account for charges, as I was told I could cancel any time before the trial ends, without a cost."

June 27th I received a charge for $69.99 which, incidentally, was the first day the debit card I had used had sufficient funds to cover the full-price month subscription. Angry, I continued my earlier thread with the company (with the original, dated email demanded my subscription be cancelled), and after a few days, got my first personal reply, saying unfortunately I had never cancelled. The company would try to make it right, however, by cancelling at that time, and using the charge to cover six months of a subscription. My concern had been given a new query number of #XXXXXXX.

Furious, I responded the matter was not resolved, I had no interest in their product, ever, and that per their own terms and conditions, which the employee sent a handy link to, their charge was not authorized and tantamount to theft. I attached a screen shot of the original cancellation email.

The employee responded the next day that this matter had been referred to the "relevant team," and that they would notify me "at the earliest." Hearing nothing for 4 days I contacted them again saying my next actions would be to bring the matter to the Revdex.com, econsumer.gov, Trustpilot, my bank, and anyone else who would care to hear.

Desired Outcome

I want my 69.99 back.

Shaw Academy Response • Jul 10, 2020

Hi ***,

We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Thank you for the refund and resolution of the matter.

I signed up for 4 week free trial course and cancelled within 2 hours and was still charged despite my adherence to their T&C's.
I signed up for free membership on Fri 19th June and after reviewing this I cancelled the same day. I called your number at XXX XXXXXXX and spoke to Samantha A at 12.05 pm, the call was recorded. She cancelled my membership and confirmed I would not be charged. I received 2 emails from you confirming this cancellation, one from Samantha and one automatically generated. I asked for confirmation in the email that I would not be charged but this was not given. I have subsequently been charged 49.99 which is unauthorised. I have emailed your company on 2 occasions to request that this charge wasn't processed, I have received no reply and the charge has now been processed. (see below)

22 June 2020 POS ACDMYSASHAW - 49.99

Please credit my account immediately to reverse this unauthorised/illegal charge. I have read tour t&c's which state:

1.Your Shaw Academy membership may start with a free trial. The free trial period of your membership lasts for 28 days, unless otherwise specified, from the start of the lesson you are enrolled in, or as otherwise specified during sign-up and is intended to allow new members and certain former members to try the service. You will be notified during sign-up whether you are eligible for a free trial.

From Shaw Academy T&C's
2.We will bill any Payment Method provided by You for your 28 days membership fee at the end of the free trial period unless you cancel your membership prior to the end of the free trial period. To view the 28 days membership end date of your free trial period, visit our website, log into your student account and we will tell you how long you have left in your My Courses page.

I clearly cancelled within the 28 day period, actually within 2 hours, and I've raised a query with the company and emailed them each day since June 19th to request a refund with no response.

Desired Outcome

I'm looking for a full refund of the 49.99 charged fraudulently to my bank account.

Shaw Academy Response • Jul 09, 2020

The online Shaw Academy offered a four week free course. I did not decide to continue. I was charged $69.99 on July X XXXX with no explanation.
I completed a free four week Graphic Design online course offered by Shaw Academy. It started June 7, 2020 and I completed it July 2, 2020. I did not agree nor sign up for any additional modules, or monthly payment plans offered by them. When I checked my bank account on July 7, 2020, there was a pending withdrawal from ONLNE*SACO SHAW ACADEMY for $69.99. I immediately went online to cancel this membership that I did not ask for. When you try to cancel the notice pops up to call our dedicated Student Guidance Manager to understand why you wish to leave your program, to solve any issues you may have, etc. at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX. However, when you call this number, you NEVER get to actually speak to someone. It is just a bunch of prompts press 1 to continue and you have to press 2 to cancel at least four times before you can actually cancel. There is a long worded script and I actually was disconnected a few times before I could actually cancel. Then I went online to send an email to ***@shawacacdemy.com asking why am I being charged $69.99 for a four week free course. I did not sign up for additional courses or any payment plan to contiune with this course.I also asked to please cancel and refund my $69.99. I have not received any response or refund. Now I feel like I was scammed. This is not fair.

Desired Outcome

Please refund my $69.99.

hen was I given an autorenewal option? The option was to sign up for a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month plan that did NOT cost $69.99. After the last class ended, I had five more days to view the recordings without any payment. The 3, 6, 12 month renewal payment option kept popping up in emails and on the website. I did not make a decision to renew, order a tool kit for the program, or order a certificate. I never received an email stating that if I did not choose a 3, 6, or 12 month payment option, that I would automatically be renewed at a higher price than the 3, 6, or 12 month options. This is not fair!

Shaw Academy has performed multiple unauthorized billing transactions despite my cancellation of their free trial and the deletion of my account.
I took their free one-month trial offer on March 2020. I cancelled it before the trial period ended.

I was shocked to see I was billed on April 16, one month after sign-up. I took this to their customer service and all they said was indeed, my account no longer renewed. "Gomes" of customer service denied my billing with this response:

"I see that your subscription is canceled on 16 April 2020, well within the trial period. Hence, you were not charged.

I also see that we have not taken any payments from you."

I was billed again in May 14. My card company attempted to recall my money but was unsuccessful. I requested ShawAcademy to reopen my ticket but they did not respond.

I was billed in June but I deliberately kept my card balance low so I would not be billed. They attempted to take money twice (June 11 and 12). Since it appeared that they were not receptive to my request for refund, I decided to have my account deleted in case of future transactions.

I asked their customer service (named Varney) to close my account on June 12, 2020, to which they responded on the same day. As of my checking last week, July 6, the Shaw Academy site says my account no longer exists.

I was shocked once more to see they billed me today, July 8, 2020. I have attached evidence regarding my account and the unauthorized bills.

In total, ShawAcademy billed me Php 1500.00 (roughly equivalent to 30 US dollars) and I respectfully request to be refunded the amount. I have provided multiple screenshots detailing my reports.

Desired Outcome

I am requesting a refund and for Shaw Academy to completely delete my account information. Despite saying they did not take my money, it is clear from the name and the consistent billing that their system sees my account as "renewing". Despite displaying on their website that my account no longer exists, they still hold my credit card details and continue to bill me.

Shaw Academy Response • Jul 09, 2020

Hi ***,

We have reviewed your complaint and tried matching your information on our database. As per our findings you have created two account s with us. One associated with the email "***@rpm.ph" which was created on 19 March and deactivated on 16 April. The second account was created on the same day using another email ID "***@rpm.pj" which was charged as you failed to cancel the subscription within the trail period. Please write to us at ***@shawacademy.com if any further assistance needed.

I cancelled my trial but they won't refund me, I have emailed them but there's no reply.
I cancelled my month's trial with Shaw Academy on the last day by email but because it was a Sunday (28th June 2020) and they only operate during office hours, it wasn't cancelled until the next day, Monday and £49.99 was still taken out of my bank account. They give no option on their website to cancel the trial otherwise, it has to be via email or phone number. I am profoundly deaf and need help to use the phone. I emailed them again to ask for a refund (Thurs 2nd July) but they have not replied this time. They say they will reply within 48 hours but they haven't, today is Wed 8th June. I used my bank card to secure the trial, its last 4 digits are ***. My Shaw Academy student number is XXXXX, although I did not take part in any of the classes.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full refund of £49.99 please.

I emailed Shaw Academy on 28th June to cancel my trial but they did not reply to the email until the next day, when the trial had run out and I was charged. They emailed me a confirmation that the trial was cancelled. But because they took the money out of my account anyway, I emailed them for a refund. They did not reply until 10th July despite saying they would get back to me within 48 hours. They said in this email they were offering me a year's membership. This is not what I want or asked for, I want a refund.

I requested to cancel subscription 2 times, got confirmation email that its cancelled, but I still got charged total of £99.98 during 2 months.
I have signed up for Shaw Academy but then after seeing reviews about this being a scam, I immediately cancelled my subscription the next day. I had to go through a lot of hassle to cancel my subscription and even had to call their number to confirm it and even when I have called their number, it was still a big hassle and they was persuading me to stay with them. In the end, I got told that my subscription was cancelled and I received a confirmation email. Few days later, I kept getting emails from them saying to attend class and that my account is still active so I rang them again worried that I will be charged and that I have not been cancelled. They reassured me that they have cancelled my subscription and I asked the lady on the phone if I will not be charged and she reassured me multiple times that I WILL NOT be charged the monthly subscription fee being £49.99 as they will cancel my monthly payment subscription. The lady on the phone said I keep getting emails because I still had my free 4 week trial to stay with them, but again, she explained that NO CHARGES will be made after the trail expires, so I trusted them. First time I called to cancel subscription was on 07/05/20 then next time was on 11/05/20. on the 4th of July, I checked my bank statements and I have been charged by Shaw Academy once on 6th June 2020 £49.99 and then again on 4th July 2020, £49.99. I have contacted them first time by email saying that it is not fair because I cancelled my subscription on the second day after applying for it and got reassured that no charges will be made and that my subscription will be cancelled and that I have nothing to worry about yet I still got charged, and I asked to receive a refund for those two months of them secretly charging me without me knowing because its illegal telling their customers that they wont charge, yet they secretly charge me. Shaw Academy then replied with an email saying that my email is not recognised on their system, but that is a complete lie because I have just logged into my account and it works perfectly fine, still says that my membership status is active, saying I am on a 4 week plan and saying I have a premium membership. In my defence, I replied with an email asking how can they possibly not recognise my email if I have just logged in and clearly see that my whole profile is still active like as if I have not been cancelled at all. I also attached several screen images of my active account on their website, both of the transactions made through paypal, and BOTH of their confirmation emails saying that I have cancelled my subscription. I explained it to them that I demand a full refund for providing me with fake confirmation emails about account and subscription cancellation, while secretly charging me the monthly fee behind my back, as £99.98 total may not be a lot for some people, but some people like me have to work extremely hard for it and provide for others and companies like Shaw Academy that steal from people like me is just unbelievable and disgusting. After I sent them that email back with all the evidence of screen shots, transactions and demanding a full refund, I have not received a single email from them like as if they have blocked me. From what I have read online, there have been hundreds of complains from Shaw Academy Customers that have also been scammed just like me, so I am not the first and last person they will have scammed like this.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking the most fair solution, consisting of both £49.99 transactions for both months adding up to a total sum of £99.98 stolen from me, to be refunded within 1 to 2 weeks and a confirmation email from Shaw Academy that my account HAS been deactivated for sure and that I will NEVER be charged by them again.

The company do not allow refund even if we do not use their plateform and did not want to have a membership
I wanted to try their courses online. It didn't suit my needs so I wanted to opt out before the trial period. The process was too long. I have been charged 3 months for the subscription I didn't use just because I had to go through 10 steps and more to cancel my free trial subscription. I asked them for a refund since I did not even go on the plateform once, they said it was impossible ...

Desired Outcome

I would want a refund for the 3 months that I have been charged since I did not attend a single class and find their way of doing things inappropriate and think they want to make money out of people.

False advertising-not free. misleading-Fake reviews by company on trust pilot. click bait -cleverly placed one click payment right next to courses.
Company says 28 days free sign up but charges your card. They have fake reviews made by themselves to up sell their products and services, false and mis-selling information. YOUR WEBSITE SAYS FREE 28 DAY TRAINING OPTION AFTER WHICH YOU WILL BE CHARGED. HOWEVER I WAS BILLED FROM DAY ONE, APART FROM THAT YOUR DASH BOARD HAS ONE CLICK PAYMENTS AND CHARGES THE CREDIT CARD EVEN WHEN U ACCESS INFORMATION, ITS NOT ETHICAL TO BILL CC WITH ONE CLICK PAYMENTS. THIS OPTION IS CLEVERLY PLACED RIGHT NEXT TO VIEW COURSE TAB WHEREIN IT RESULTS TO PAYMENTS. ITS JUST NOT RIGHT WAY TO DO BUSINESS. AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAVEN'T ACCESSED ANY CLASSES OR COURSES NOR WILL, JUST REFUND MY AC AND DEACTIVATE MY AC AND KINDLY REFUND MY AC. I was scammed and they took $59.99 from my account for an eCertificate I had not purchased.
I initially saw an ad on my Facebook ads claiming that I can take up an offer of 1 month free trials, where if I sign up, I can have access to Shaw Academy for a month. I was to be charged on the 2nd of August, 2020. In order to sign up for free classes, it is mandatory to provide with my Paypal or any other payment methods, and so I chose Paypal. The agreement was that I was not to be charged until the 2nd of August till my free trial ends. However, the next time I received and email claiming, "Congratulations, you've unlocked your eCertificate & final assessment". I was confused as to what this was and so I clicked the "Take Final Assessment" button (email attachment uploaded) which instantly charged my account. This payment was unauthorised, and they charged my PayPal since I authorised them to charge me after one month of free trial. I have tried contacting them several times for a refund but they only replied to one email, trying to push down their products and unwilling to give me a refund. I farther did more research on TrustPilot and Quota, in the last 2 days and over the course of several months, they have been scamming students with these fake emails. Their targets are students who are working on self development, by baiting us with "free trials". If you notice the email they sent me, there is no mention of a payment whatsoever, but they automatically charge your account as soon as you press on the link. I have tried calling them but none of their phone numbers are valid, and they only replied to one of my several emails. I would really appreciate if this can be investigated, I am also attaching the link to their TrustPilot to show that they are scamming soo many people. I did not click purchase eCertificate anywhere but they are claiming I purchased it.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund as well as an apology for harassment and fraudulent business, as well as fraudulently taking my Paypal information

Hi ***,

I have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged $59.99 AUD for the purchase (Module E Certificate) you made via our one click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non refundable charge. The One-Click purchase and non refundable charges were very well clearly informed in the Ts & Cs, which you did agree during registration process. We would also like to inform you that the free trail advertised was only for the subscription and not applicable for additional purchase. Please write to us at ***@shawacademy.com for any further assistance.

Regards,
Shaw Academy

I signed up via instagram for their free online classes. Their system would not allow me. I canceled service and was still charged. Dispute with PayPa
I signed up under the free trial. When signing up for actual classes, I received an error message under every date and time that was available and to email their support email. I waited a WEEK and NEVER GOT A RESPONSE.

I called their number to cancel and after confirming 4 TIMES and listening to an extremely PUSHY AUTOMATED PHONE SYSTEM try to offer me "better and better deals" each time I confirmed to cancel, I WAS STILL CHARGED FOR ANOTHER MONTH!! I am dealing with PayPal right now and sent them the warning from Trust Pilot on Shaw Academy inflating their reviews in a biased way. Here is what Trust Pilot is saying:

Desired Outcome

They need to be shut down because there are a lot of complaints that they are a scam. They are systematically ripping people off during COVID-19 pandemic and everyone who was charged needs to have their money sent back.

Shaw Academy has unfairly charged me CAD70 for one month membership after my trial ended, even though I told them to cancel before period end.
I had registered with Shaw Academy for Graphic design one month trial. 3 days before end of trial I went online to cancel the trial. Turns out online cancellation isn't possible and need to speak with an advisor. So I paused my membership which was the next best option. Next day on 28 June'20 an advisor calls me (+XXXXXXXXXXXX) and asks me why i've paused. I tell them I no longer want to be a student and please cancel my memebership. Next day I see that there is no payment option on my account and no option to cancel. Also on shaw's website it says that if you don't see payment options then no charge will be made.
Next day after trial I see a charge of CAD70. I was shocked. I clearly told the agent to cancel. I made a complaint (#XXXXXXX) and an agent Mr. V didn't investigate my case and kept giving me free month stuff worth xyz. I didn't accept it and insisted for my refund. Then they stopped replying to my emails.
This is nothing short of a scam. Online cancellation option is not there, payment option access is not there, PHONE Cancellation doesn't count!!!
I need my refund and not freebies.

Desired Outcome

Need a refund of the unfair charge of CAD70.

I registered for the 4/wk free trial and then I was charged $80.00+ without notice!!! This was false advertising and I received no response back.
I registered for the 4/wk free trial and then I was charged $80.00+ (Two separate charges) on Tuesday July 7th even tho I cancelled my service. This was all without notice!!! I believe this is false advertising as I didn't even select a plan and don't even know what I paid for. I had sent an email to the company in the am but I received no response back.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund for both charges . Especially the most recent one as that was made after I had tried to cancel my plan.

Charged with no invoice to warn of charge and no receipt afterward
I received a charge to my credit card with no prior invoice warning of the impending charge and not even a receipt to show it after the fact. I admit to beginning a free trial with Shaw Academy but was never able to even begin a lesson or watch a video. Weeks later I noticed a charge on my credit card from Shaw Academy. I promptly cancelled my account and asked for a refund as I never benefited from the membership and received no warning of a payment. I was put through several prompts before I was allowed to even cancel and the only communication I managed to get from Shaw Academy seemed like a copy and paste response to complaints saying no refund was possible.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full refund.

Shaw's response only shows that they didn't even read my complaint. I never claimed to have attempted to cancel before the deadline. I didn't even remember their was a deadline approaching, I didn't even remember signing up for the free trial. My complaint is that I never received any communication from them about the free trial approaching an end and never even received a receipt of payment. It's as if they were hoping the payment would just pass *** my credit card bill without me noticing. I accept that they haven't done anything in breach of whatever contract I signed by clicking agree but it still shows bad business practice to be wholly unwilling to offer refunds at all when they can see that I've received no services or benefit from them.

Shaw academy has not been returning my emails and has still not even sent a receipt for the payment made to them. Ideally I would like a refund because I did not benefit at all from any of their services. At the least I'd expect a receipt so I could even file a reimbursement with my employer for work related training.
