I signed up for a free trial. There was a line saying that a toolkit could be purchased. I clicked on it to see what was included and it charged me almost $50 and I still couldn't see what it was that I purchased.
I emailed requesting a refund and didn't get a response until after I sent 3 more emails. They tried to offer a credit instead of a refund but the credit can only be used if I spend more money with them
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund.

The online Shaw Academy offered a four week free course. I did not decide to continue. I was charged $69.99 on July X XXXX with no explanation.
I completed a free four week Graphic Design online course offered by Shaw Academy. It started June 7, 2020 and I completed it July 2, 2020. I did not agree nor sign up for any additional modules, or monthly payment plans offered by them. When I checked my bank account on July 7, 2020, there was a pending withdrawal from ONLNE*SACO SHAW ACADEMY for $69.99. I immediately went online to cancel this membership that I did not ask for. When you try to cancel the notice pops up to call our dedicated Student Guidance Manager to understand why you wish to leave your program, to solve any issues you may have, etc. at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX. However, when you call this number, you NEVER get to actually speak to someone. It is just a bunch of prompts press 1 to continue and you have to press 2 to cancel at least four times before you can actually cancel. There is a long worded script and I actually was disconnected a few times before I could actually cancel. Then I went online to send an email to ***@shawacacdemy.com asking why am I being charged $69.99 for a four week free course. I did not sign up for additional courses or any payment plan to contiune with this course.I also asked to please cancel and refund my $69.99. I have not received any response or refund. Now I feel like I was scammed. This is not fair.
Desired Outcome
Please refund my $69.99.

hen was I given an autorenewal option? The option was to sign up for a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month plan that did NOT cost $69.99. After the last class ended, I had five more days to view the recordings without any payment. The 3, 6, 12 month renewal payment option kept popping up in emails and on the website. I did not make a decision to renew, order a tool kit for the program, or order a certificate. I never received an email stating that if I did not choose a 3, 6, or 12 month payment option, that I would automatically be renewed at a higher price than the 3, 6, or 12 month options. This is not fair!

I signed up for 4 week free trial course and cancelled within 2 hours and was still charged despite my adherence to their T&C's.
I signed up for free membership on Fri 19th June and after reviewing this I cancelled the same day. I called your number at XXX XXXXXXX and spoke to Samantha A at 12.05 pm, the call was recorded. She cancelled my membership and confirmed I would not be charged. I received 2 emails from you confirming this cancellation, one from Samantha and one automatically generated. I asked for confirmation in the email that I would not be charged but this was not given. I have subsequently been charged 49.99 which is unauthorised. I have emailed your company on 2 occasions to request that this charge wasn't processed, I have received no reply and the charge has now been processed. (see below)
22 June 2020 POS ACDMYSASHAW - 49.99
Please credit my account immediately to reverse this unauthorised/illegal charge. I have read tour t&c's which state:
1.Your Shaw Academy membership may start with a free trial. The free trial period of your membership lasts for 28 days, unless otherwise specified, from the start of the lesson you are enrolled in, or as otherwise specified during sign-up and is intended to allow new members and certain former members to try the service. You will be notified during sign-up whether you are eligible for a free trial.
From Shaw Academy T&C's
2.We will bill any Payment Method provided by You for your 28 days membership fee at the end of the free trial period unless you cancel your membership prior to the end of the free trial period. To view the 28 days membership end date of your free trial period, visit our website, log into your student account and we will tell you how long you have left in your My Courses page.
I clearly cancelled within the 28 day period, actually within 2 hours, and I've raised a query with the company and emailed them each day since June 19th to request a refund with no response.
Desired Outcome

You shouldn't make it to where somebody has to call in order to just cancel you should be able to cancel online like a normal human being and I did cancel after the fact not realizing that it had never been cancelled and you guys charged me to 70 and I'm not going to use your cord and then you offered me only the ability to have 6 months and I don't want that. They charged me $69.99 on the first day of my free trial month for something I can't recognize, and they refused the refund me or provide proof.
My account# on Shaw academy: ***@Gmail.com
6/22 - I signed up for a free 1st month trial and pre-authorized my paypal account. They said they will only charge me $39.99 after 28 days if I don't cancel my subscription by then, but somehow, there was immediately charge of $69.99 from my paypal right after I signed up.
6/23 - I tried to call their number but couldn't reach them. I sent an email and they assigned me an unique inquiry ID: #XXXXXXX.
6/24 - Simon from Shaw Academy replied me saying, the $69.99 is from "Module 1 lessons were manually unblocked from the member area". And they can't process refund, so they offer me a free 6 month access. I replied, I don't recognize the "Unblock module 1" action. I didn't do it and I won't use their service at all. I insisted on the refund.
6/25 - Simon replied again saying they can't process refunds, and he didn't provide any further proof about how I performed the function "unblock module 1". Instead he offer a 12-month membership. I turned the offer down because I think their business is suspicious, and I definitely didn't use, and won't use any of their service. They seems like fraud.
Desired Outcome
Please require them to refund me $69.99 for the service I didn't sign up for and didn't use at all.

Shaw Academy said they cancelled my subscription but they just tried to charge me $70
Hello,
I got a free trial with Shaw Academy because I wanted to learn some things. As soon as I read some reviews and saw how the company was manipulative, I followed the process to cancel my free trial and the subscription. I had to call them, and the man on the phone assured me that he had cancelled my subscription. I ASKED HIM TWICE THAT IS HE SURE I WOULDN'T BE CHARGED AND HE SAID NO I WOULDN'T BE CHARGED. This was sometime in May.
Today, I get a notification that a Shaw Academy charge of $70 was declined on my card. I am only that I don't even have $70 in my account. These people would have taken my last dime when we are all already struggling because of coronavirus. I'm not even working full time.
I have looked on my account and it says "Membership Status
Non_renewing
Your membership will be cancelled at the end of your current subscription period." But they still tried to charge me.
I am very annoyed about this, and for some reason, they have no phone numbers for customer service. I need someone from Shaw Academy to cancel my membership AND DELETE MY ACCOUNT definitely. If I have to go through this same issue next month, I am not going to be happy.
Thank you,
***.
Desired Outcome
Cancel my subscription (I need a proper confirmation email and for it to show on my account that it is cancelled) and delete my account. I don't want them having my card.

I attempted to cancel my account twice. Both times met with personnel and technology failure that cost me money and I am being taken advantage of.
The first time I tried to cancel, it was a Sunday (before the final day of my account activity) and so I cancelled my account on the computer and called the next morning to confirm the cancellation (their business hours) but it was "too late" and I was still charged, although I cancelled on the computer before the final day, and my confirmation call was only too late because they offered poor buisness hours.
I gave up after being told I could speak with customer service and billing, but was only met with no follow up.
I cancelled my account 7/6, before my month was up on the computer and on the phone. I was met with an automated message which stated that my account was cancelled, the change would be reflected in an hour, and that I would receive no more payments from that date on. On 7/7 I received another Paypall charge. When I checked my account to see if it was closed, it was still open. I need my account cancelled and I need a reimbursement for that 7/7 charge. There is no way to find customer service on the site. You cannot file a complaint or talk to a person. The number on Revdex.com doesn't exist.
Desired Outcome
I need my account cancelled and I need a refund. I have already spoken to friends and family describing the company as a scam.

My credit card was charged twice for classes I had cancelled also, the service does not recognise the email.
I reviewed my credit card and found 2 Charges of $69.99 each on May 21 and Jun 18, 2020. I contacted client services and they said I never cancelled, I'm positive I did, furthermore the email address is not recognised by their system and my complaint wass pushed to the side and a 6 month membership was offered. Shaw charged me a membership fee of $69.99 on the last day of my free trial.
I was offered a 60-day free trial for Shaw Academy by Verizon (which required a credit card). In the Shaw Academy app, there is a place where it tells you how many days you have left of your free trial. I used that feature to make sure I canceled my subscription before being charged. On June 23, the app told me I had 3 days left in my trial period. So I made a note in my calendar to cancel my subscription on June 25, which I did around 2pm that day. However, a charge appeared on my credit card that same day for $69.99. When I emailed Shaw Academy they told me that I had not cancelled within the trial period, and they are unable to process a refund, but instead offered me 6 months of Shaw Academy for free. (I see, based on the reviews here, that this is a common practice for them to trick people into paying for a free membership and then attempting to smooth it over by offering them longer memberships for free.) I used the information THEY provided in the app, to make sure I cancelled my membership within the trial period and avoid charges. Now I am not even able to see for myself the dates/details of my membership; that information is all missing from my Profile in the app since I cancelled, so I can't even look back and provide any evidence. I believe this information is intentionally withheld to create confusion and attempt to trip up consumers for profit. Maybe I'm wrong, but why not provide that information for your consumers?
Desired Outcome
I am not interested in the 6 months of free membership they offered me. I would like a full refund for the monthly membership fee I was charged. I should not have been charged, and businesses should not be this rigid in their practices; it just shows their sole focus is on their profits, not honest dealings or concern for their customers.

I signed up for a free trial course through Shaw Academy. Shortly after, it became clear this was a scam. I cancelled my free trial/membership on 5/4/2020. Cancellation Confirmation email was received. Shaw Academy charged me $69.99 on 5/25/2020 and 6/22/2020. This was charged to my Citibank Credit Card. I have disputed both charges. The 5/25/2020 charge was disputed on 6/15/2020, the 6/22/2020 dispute was filed on 7/7/2020. When I login to my account is states that my "Membership Status" is non_renewing and will be cancelled at the end of my subscription period. However, there is no option for me to "cancel" my membership online in my account settings. The only option is a "Reactivate" button. Per Shaw Academy's cancellation policy it states "We will bill any Payment Method provided by You for your 28 days membership fee at the end of the free trial period unless you cancel your membership prior to the end of the free trial period." I cancelled well within the 28 day free membership period. I have emailed the email address on file ***@shawacademy.com with requested information for refund.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund for both charges of $69.99 for a membership that is not active.

Shaw Academy continues to send auto generated response emails indicating a "case number" and stating that someone will reach out to me within 48 hours. I now have two open "cases" with their company as no one has reached out to settle my initial request. I have attached a screen shot of the cancellation confirmation after my phone call on 5/4/2020. We took the free graphics design course. During the course our daughter accidently clicked instant purchase. We complained and cannot get refund.
We took the free graphic design course for our daughter. During her 4th course she was browsing and the cursor accidentally clicked instant purchase of a "Tool Kit" She freaked out and asked me to get a refund. I went instantly and there is absolutely no where on their site to see purchase...at ALL! I tried and then sent emails. I got a response the next day saying we get no refund because it's automatic download...it doesn't download to our computer. So I tried again to send more clearly that we don't want anything and then 3 times they kept sending me emails saying we don't get money back but can have "free" things added to our Shaw account. I tried over and over and then saw that many other people have complained about not receiving refunds. It's a scam. We don't want anything to do with this company and will get her courses with a graphics design place that has integrity and will help it's students. I would never recommend this place. Everything is done computerized and there is no way to get help. Very upset that nothing at all is done to settle and get our money back.

I believe the refund settles their issue for me. But as for the future, I do believe they will deceive others and take there money with no way to get a refund unless that report them on Revdex.com. That's sad and I cannot force them to make good integrity decisions. I do hope they start doing business right.
Dishonest practice
They kept my credit card on file and charge me for an e-diploma I didn't want. I only clicked a button to read more information and BOOM! No turning back, they had charged my card that I subscribed with months ago. They call it "one-click" purchase but I never agreed to this. All I wanted was more info. I contacted them and first, they ignore you. If you insist they just give you vague answer insisting that you should really just buy the product. What the heck? I don't want it. It was a dishonest way of doing business and charging my card. I'm currently disputing the charges with my bank since the vendor is not collaborating. Stay away.
Desired Outcome
I want my money back and I want them to cancel my account and all my personal information and never charge my card again.

I completed the free trial with 2 days to spare, upon cancellation given another 30 days free. Shaw took money during my trial period. Wouldn't refund
I joined Shaw Academy's Photography and Smart Phone Photography courses on May 14th. Both courses were finished June 11th. I then proceeded to cancel my Shaw account in order to not be charged for additional classes. After following multiple pages of offers to stay, I still clicked cancel my membership (your card has to be on file to participate in the course, even the free trial). Finally the last cancellation page states that you have to call a number in your area to complete your cancellation. I did. After waiting 20 mins, I spoke to an agent who then offered me an addition 30 days free to complete 1 test. I agreed. An email confirmation was sent while on the phone and I was told to email them directly when the test is complete in order to not have to go through the long cancellation process again. June 12th, an attempt to withdraw money by Shaw was made. This was the 2nd attempt. Annoyed, I emailed the agent stating I didn't care about the diploma, I simply wanted to carry through with the cancellation. June 26th, 69.99 was withdrawn from my account. I emailed the rep again. No response. Went through the site to cancel, had to call my local representative again and this time only an automated voice prompt carried me through the same multiple deviations to refrain from cancelling. At no point were you able to speak to a LIVE agent or press a key to speak to someone. You would be kicked out and have to call and go through the prompts again, without the ability to skip ahead. I was finally able to successfully cancel at that time and was reminded that I had paid for another session and would lose out on the continued schooling that I had paid "for life". A confirmation email was sent. I emailed ***@shawacademy.com that same day requesting a refund. The next day, June 27th my reply from Nikolas was no, due to not cancelling during the trail period. I emailed back stating that I had a 30 day free extension, a refund was needed. My reply was, no due to terms and conditions. Technically, my free trial is still on - going. July 13th should be my end date. I spoke with my bank and put in a dispute. Unfortunately, as of March they've had plenty disputes regarding Shaw Academy. They've cancelled my card to deter any further attemps and are in the process of reimbursing me. The bank now, has to go through their channels to retrieve the funds. Should any problems arise, I have my email transactions.
Desired Outcome
Shaw Academy should not be allowed to gouge people when they themselves don't follow their own terms and conditions.
They shouldn't be advertising free trials when so many get suckered into trying to get refunds for funds that should not have been taken to begin with.
Although my bank has cancelled my card to prevent them from attempting to take more money (since they tried unsuccessfully 2 times before), I have to go into other accounts to change to update new card info once I receive it. My bank has refunded the funds, but I'd like compensation from Shaw Academy. I followed their instructions, have emailed them to retrieve my well deserved refund and still was told no and no reply at all on my last email, July 1st.
Shaw Academy should also return the funds taken from my account. I had to move funds around to avoid NSF charges and to cover payments intended for the money Shaw Academy stole.

The email address that they provided to contact them is simply an email. No instruction or record or my prior complaint. I had to recount the ENTIRE situation/process/complaint all over again, making the process even more tedious, tiring and repetitive. I would the situation resolved with decent compensation. Not to continue to regurgitate the entire ordeal time and time again. I feel like I'm on trial for something that Shaw Academy is in the wrong for but I have to continue to recount it to get what shouldn't have been taken to begin with. It's getting long in the tooth. In addition, only me filing a complaint with Revdex.com has resulted in Shaw attempting to reply and reach out now. Still I have to retell the tired ordeal. No happy at all, if anything more anxious and upset.

My main issue was never with the classes, but with the money being taken out while on free trial and then an additional 30 day free trial. The money out of my account should NEVER have been withdrawn until AFTER the free trial was completed or finished. If this was the case, I would more likely understand. Seeing I was still in a trial period, no money should've been taken. For that reason, I'm not satisfied with this response and a better system needs to be put in place to avoid future potential students to have to go through this turmoil. At this point, my bank has already credited my account and are in turn, pursuing the matter for refund on their end. I would love compensation at this time as a grievance and headache.

We are always looking at improving our services & we strive to ensure that you have nothing short of the best. You deserved better from us and we are sorry to have let you down. Nothing is more important than regaining your trust, and we hope you will give us the opportunity to *** so. Our support team have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.
On 06/24, I was sent a message saying I would receive a full refund after the upgrade was accidental.
After numerous attempts to receive a refund since 06/20, I am contacting you. My purchase date is 06/18 and my payment method was a debit card. I am extremely frustrated because I CONTINUOUSLY asked for a refund. On 06/24, Amelia stated she would get back to me within 5 to 7 days regarding my refund, I still have yet to hear from her or receive a response back via messenger and email despite numerous attempts. This is appalling. I need my refund immediately or I will go to my bank and the cops for fraud charges. The total amount is $99.95
Desired Outcome
A FULL refund!

They charged my credit card after I had canceled.
I signed up for the 4 week trial for graphic design. I was being harassed by them via email, text message and phone calls. I ended up canceling and they made me call in to cancel. I canceled and I just saw on my credit card that they charged me.
Desired Outcome
I would like my money back.

I wasn't able to cancel when I tried as the company makes it difficult to cancel and then I was charged before the trial period ended. I want my money
I never even started a course therefore I want my money back.
I tried cancelling before but their system makes it quite difficult to do so and it should not. I should be able to actually speak with a person if you all were so reputable and I wasn't. I also wanted to let you know that their system does not do well with tracking of the trial as I had a couple more days before my trial actually ended as I didn't sign up at the first of the month which would have been June 1st. they don't have a way to reach an actual human since there is no number listed so they can extend the "cancellation" a day or two so they can say that someone didn't cancel in time. I just want my money back, especially because I never finished my profile (and I have screenshots to prove that I didn't) and I never even used or logged into any course. Therefore since I never ever used the services, I should get my money back.
Desired Outcome
the only suitable resolution is my 69.99 back. I don't want to take their classes, I will never take their classes since they have no integrity and find loopholes in the laws so they can steal people's money.

I logged in Free trial for Shaw Academy same day I tried to cancel services but process give you the impresión that is canceled. After a month I have being charged and I complaint the same day and as for my money Back.
I'm looking for a full refund of the 49.99 charged fraudulently to my bank account.

You should be able to refund somebody who's not going to use the course that's ridiculous.

Thank you,
***.

I would like a refund since Ihad not used the service for the intended purposes and was on signed on in the trial period and cancelled once I was sure that the learning offered no additional value for me.
Please see attachments of the email sent.

I am not interested in the 6 months of free membership they offered me. I would like a full refund for the monthly membership fee I was charged. I should not have been charged, and businesses should not be this rigid in their practices; it just shows their sole focus is on their profits, not honest dealings or concern for their customers.

Although I wish they would have issued me a refund without going through the Revdex.com, I am satisfied with the final outcome.
I signed up for a free trial. I cancelled on 5/4/2020. Cancellation Confirmation received. Shaw Academy charged me $69.99 on 5/25/2020 and 6/22/2020.

On 6/15/2020 after discovering the initial charge on my credit card, I did respond to Melissa G indicating that I was incorrectly charged. I received no response.
Hi ***,
We are sorry to hear about your experience and inconvenience caused to you.
Having checked our records, we see that you have registered for a free trial and you have not cancelled it on time, so the payment was processed.
I confirm your refund will be reaching your account in 4-5 business days.
Your membership is cancelled and please be assured that you will not be charged way forward until you reactivate it.

I want $39.95 refunded. That's it. Nothing to do with Shaw Academy ever again.
Hi ***,
I have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged £39.95 for the purchase (Toolkit for Professional Diploma in Graphic Design Module 1) you made via our one click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non refundable charge, however as a good will gesture I have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.

Stay away.

We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies. We give the highest priority to the quality of education and support to our students and we would like to make things right.
Please contact our priority support team directly at ***@shawacademy.com for refund related assistance.

The total amount is $99.95
A FULL refund!

They charged my credit card after I had canceled.
I signed up for the 4 week trial for graphic design. I was being harassed by them via email, text message and phone calls. I ended up canceling and they made me call in to cancel. I canceled and I just saw on my credit card that they charged me.
I would like my money back.

I just subscribed to the Shaw academy for free trial but after 3 days they Deduct me $130 dollars.
I just subscribed to the Shaw academy for free trial but after 3 days they Deduct me $130 dollars. I already mailed them about the incident and told one of my friends. Then I searched about the Shaw academy on google and find out many people have suffered the same problem. The website look like a good one but why they behaving like a scam? I want my money back no matter what.
I just want a refund. I already cancelled the subscription, I don't need it anymore. Thanks much

Therefore since I never ever used the services, I should get my money back.
the only suitable resolution is my 69.99 back. I don't want to take their classes, I will never take their classes since they have no integrity and find loopholes in the laws so they can steal people's money.
