I subscribed for a 4 weeks free trial on the Shaw Academy e-learning website. Almost 120 c $ were stripped off my account and was denied a refund.
On August 4th, I started my 4 weeks free trial with Shaw Academy.
As soon as I logged in, I purchased a module tool kit for 49.99c$ which was made available on a free trial mode.I supposed it's free.
I tried to unlock the module 1 to see what topics it covers . I was charged 69.99c$ which is the price of monthly subscription and I figured out later from the queries page that that action cancels the free trial which was not clarified in the terms and conditions especially on the free trial section.
I emailed them and got a response that they deactivated my membership which is really another unethical action because they should not make changes to my account on their side.( what guarantees that they won'r reactivate and withdraw more money which happened with other customers? ) And that they won't process a refund but can offer me a six month free.
This is typical a scammer business model.
How can I trust such people who tricks consumers this way??
I would like to have a full refund. And deletion of all my credentials from their website.
Desired Outcome
I would like to have a full refund and my information to be deleted completely from their system.

Hi ***,
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We have reviewed your account and noticed that there are two charges added to your account. The first charge was against the purchase of Module Kit and the second was for activating the premium membership by unlocking the Module 2 before the completion of Module 1.
As per the terms and conditions that you agreed upon registration these charges are non refundable. If you have failed to read the Ts & Cs we request you to access the below link and refer 5.8.

If you have any further queries please reach out to us at ***@shawacademy.com.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Hi,
Thank you for responding and taking the time to check thoroughly.
My response is as follows;
- All aspects of module 1 should be made available for free within the one month free trial. The tool kit and an overview of the topics covered by the course.
- If it was not meant to be free .The special offers windows and the module 1 tool kit must restricted for members only and not presented as one click purchase in a free trial mode.
- Actually all the topics covered in the course must be present on the module page of the course under an "overview " section so Students could have a generalized look of the course and decide for themselves whether to continue or not. And of course, the material can be restricted for members only
( that what made me try to unlock the module 2 . To explore the topics.)
- I never knew that the unlocking of module 2 would cancel my free trial and I will be charged for a monthly premium membership a 69.99c $. It was not clarified in the terms and conditions. I got to know this when I was looking for a way to contact the Shaw Academy and came over the queries , explained in details. . This is a cunning way to charge people without them noticing what's going on.
- The whole site has a confusing and tricky nature.
- The non refundable nature of the one click purchases was not made clear in the free trial term , it was made clear in the billing section and I was not supposed to be billed in a free trial mode. I entered my financial information just to enable the free trial , not to be directly billed.
- This is so dishonest and you cannot compare that to any other successful business like Netflix or Spotify.
- It is now a matter of trust and here You made it easily lost. I feel the whole thing more like a free trap not a free trial. I am not able to use the service confidently since that incident.
- How can I benefit from a six month free membership if I haven't been able to benefit from a free trial for one day.
- The fact that Shaw Academy allowed themselves to deactivate my membership and make changes to my account to convince me to accept the 6 month free offer , opens the door for them to tamper with my account later and charge me again.
- I am not sure if I try to accept the 6 month free offer or the 12 months ( which are basically the shaw's academy available solution) that I won't regret it. I can not afford losing more . All I had then in my account was 500c $ while I am a mother of 4 in a hard time when everyone is striving to live. I made it clear guys in my email that this is not a business model that is likely to thrive.
- I seriously want a refund as this whole service was unsatisfying and traumatizing for me .

Shaw Academy charged me 39 euros without my permission
I registered the free-trial of shaw academy on Aug 5, 2020. Then I found the course totally useless. I thought it was free trial so I terminate it on the same day. Then when I check my credit card, I found that I was charged 39 euro. I log on the account in Shaw academy and found it is about the E certificate. I am very careful and am sure I did not click on any botton. I do not even take a course on Shaw Academy. How ridiculous they charged me for this certificate when I did not take even one course. I am 100% percent I do not click on any bottons and Shaw Academy charged me 39 Euros without my permission. They should refund it to me.
My username is ***@gmail.com. I attach the picture for your reference.
Desired Outcome
Refund me the 39 Euros or cancel the unauthorized payment of 39 Euros

Hi ***,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you faced. However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase. Just in case a customer has failed to see that, we have also added a disclaimer on the banner itself. We are sorry to inform you that the refund is not possible. Refund are given in situation where we as an organisation have failed to cancel the account even after the customer has requested to cancel before the trial period. As far as we are concern we have upheld our part of the contract with you. Unfortunately we are unable to provide you a refund.

Shaw academy:
I think that your explanation does not make any sense at all. Please reply the following two questions.
1) How can you prove that I click on any purchasing bottons. When I registered the free trial and entered the course interface, I realized that there are many traps, e.g. one-click payment. So I feel your so called course is scam. I only want to quit it as soon as possible. I was very cautious and did NOT click any purchasing botton. If what you said was correct, may I ask you if there is any verification from me, such as one-time sms code? You always used the free trial to trap people and steal their credit card information. Then no matter they click or not, you charged the money from their account.
2) You admitted that I do not access the E certificate which was charged by you. How ridiculous? Will consumers not access the service if they buy it? The only explanation is that you open such service and charged people. I have a email from you that you want to compensate me with some extra services. First, I do not need them AT ALL. Second, it is actually an evidence that you ALWAYS open the services for people WITHOUT their permissions.
The last question, why do you have so much 'one-click' purchase botton on the website. You are the ONLY one because you want to trap people. No decent company will behavior like you.In my case, it is even worse because you charged me even I do not click on ANY purchase bottons.
I have reported to the police, bank and VISA management.

The One-Click purchase is completely automated. Only when you click on the radio button the system will initiate the transaction. Hence the transaction itself can be considered as a proof of you clicking on the button.
We agree that we did advertise free course for 4 weeks, however we never mentioned that the add-on were free. More over the as mentioned on the previous response we One-Click purchase payments were all very well explained as well as we have added a disclaimer on the button.
Well that being said we would also like to inform you that as a goodwill gesture we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.

Shaw is a SCAM. Poor content, repeatedly cancelled, charged for months at $70.00, had to call to verify. Extremely poor experience.
I was sent a link from a friend for 4 free weeks. I cancelled because the content was very poor. I've been charged for several months after cancelling. when cancelling, you have to click the cancellation option 5 separate times and then are told you must call the company with a verification number to validate your cancellation. On the phone they continue to try to make you stay. I did this multiple times and still charged. They market HEAVILY and I would like to prevent other people from contributing to their scam and losing their hard-earned money.
Desired Outcome
I would like to make sure I am no longer charged and to leave info for Revdex.com to post for other consumers.

I signed up to take the business course, the payment was taken out of my account, but I can not start or access my class courses, it keeps telling me
The site keeps telling me to resign in, then it takes me back to the beginning again. I was never sent my free e-books to my whatsapp neither. If I can no access or start my classes by the due date of August 6, 2020, then I would appreciate my refund back, so I can start my education elsewhere. I will be looking for your response. Thank you!

I have been attempting to cancel my subscription because I do not want to be charged after my free trial nobody answers the phone!
I have been attempting to cancel my membership early as I do not want to continue my membership as I find their practices annoying and I find myself feeling hounded by emails when I wanted to learn at my own pace. I attempted to cancel and they insist on you calling to confirm the cancellation which is sneaky - just let people cancel. I attempted to call in the outlined times given but nobody was answering even thought I started calling at 2:30PM on a Wednesday. I started attempting 9 days before my trial ended because I had a sneaking suspicion they would do something shady like this. I just want it to be cancelled so they don't take my money.
Desired Outcome
I want them to cancel my membership and fix their cancellation processes - the hoops you have to jump through to try and cancel are nothing short of a way to try and trick people into staying on in the membership and collecting money.

Shaw Academy charged me over $100 on a supposed "4 week free-trial course" the same day I signed up for their service. I never made these charges!
I came across an Instagram ad from Shaw Academy displaying a *"FREE" 4 week trial courseand was told they needed my credit card information to prevent any frauds and bots. HOWEVER, when I signed up on JULY 24TH, they charged me $69.99 on that SAME DAY. Not only that, they told me to unlock a module toolkit and when I clicked it, it showed that I PURCHASED it and it also charged me $45.99 for a "ONE CLICK" purchase, like are you kidding me?! When I e-mailed them QUESTIONING why I had these charges, they changed my "FREE TRIAL membership" to a "PREMIUM membership" WITHOUT my CONSENT and was told they were only allowed to trade services, when I was explicitly told that I can cancel it anytime as long as my trial does not expire. When I asked them to cancel my membership and demanded a refund on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, they refused to do so. This is totally ridiculous for FALSELY advertising a "free" trial product. Their products and service is unsatisfactory. Shaw Academy is a scam.
Desired Outcome
I demand a full refund on these charges made to my credit card. If not, I will report Shaw Academy to my bank and news reports to undergo fraudulent investigation for stealing my money.

I requested a refund 2 days after purchasing a course - company refused to refund. Discovered they have been unaccredited and are misleading.
I have wanted to start an online course and have been bombarded on Instagram and a Facebook with Shaw Academy's courses. They seemed legit and Google showed good reviews on trustpilot. I decided to buy a membership but before staring attending any classes I went on google again, just to discover that many people have been complaining about them. I saw on trustpilot website they are actually misleading people and there is a big note about the company's behaviour - their score was manipulated (https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/shawacademy.com). I also saw on Wikipedia that they have lost their accreditation on 24th July 2019. Also, Wikipedia site warns about the neutrality of the content regarding Shaw Academy (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaw_Academy). Two days after the purchase I have sent several emails to the company in order to get a refund, but they said I am no entitled to one and keep trying to push the classes or arranging calls to discuss it further. They are clearly a scam company and I do not want to attend any of their classes. Also, after you buy the membership you need to pay extra for their learning kits and diplomas. I would like my refund ASAP. This company is clearly a scam. I contacted their PayPal Emil requesting the refund and haven't heard from them either. People need to be aware of their activities and this company should be closed.
Desired Outcome
I would like the company to refund the amount of £99.00 paid on the 29th of July 2020.

They have taken an unauthorised payment from me and I feel robbed by them as there is no direct line for them to contact for a refund.
I joined Shaw as was advertised for a free 30 day trial, but I cancelled the same day I joined them. The next day I cancelled my membership and later that day I had someone call me from the US from shaw saying that they was going to re-activate my membership and give me free modules and a free e-certificate. I went to then view the certificate and the next thing I know they have taken £39.95 from my bank account without warning or authorisation from me to do so.
I emailed them asking for a refund as payment was taken for no reason and everytime they dodge the question and answer with:
I see you have purchased it even before we could enabled one Toolkit and one E-certificate. The materials have been enabled in your account.
No need to worry, instead of a refund, I will enable rest of the e-certificates in Excel course for free.
If you need any further assistance ever, please contact us back.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Shaw Academy Support Team.
(Above email ref: (#XXXXXXX)
Then I email their billing account team - REF (#XXXXXXX) and get the same thing, its like im speaking to a robot as im not getting anywhere, and there is no contact number to call for help.
I would like a full refund as they have taken it from my Natwest Bank account with an unauthorised payment without asking. I can give more details if needed.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a full refund of the total amount of £39.95 for an unauthorised payment taken from me.

Auto-enrolled to paid course, despite not wanting it. refuse to refund - 3 months of unused course
Signed up to a 4 week free course, which I only attended one class. Mulitple emails were sent to rebook missed classes, but I was not interested. Now I have found 3 x £49.99 (months of May, June, July - have been removed from my Paypal account. Shaw Academy are refusing to refund, despite it being clear the service has not been used, and was not wanted. I have advised them that auto-enrollment, is not moral, and I believe it will be outlawed - if it has not already.

I received additional charges from Shaw Academy after I spoke with a representative who was permanently closing my account.
I used this company from May 8th until June 2nd doing the free trial Marketing Class. However I did not cancel the free trail before the June 2nd deadline as I was still finishing my class. I called to cancel my membership and permanently close my account with Shaw Academy. I spoke with Nicole K who stated that she would cancel my account. I received another charge July 2nd and then again July 29th after my bank issued me a new Visa card number. I want to permanently close my account with Shaw Academy so that they do not take out further funds from my account as well as refund from last two charges.

After cancelling my free trial, company charged my credit card $69.99 two times almost two months later. After asking for refund, they refused.
On May 21, I started my free trial with shaw academy. Within 3 days, I called to cancel my free trial only to be coerced over the phone to stay. Next day, I cancelled over the phone and confirmed that I was cancelled via phone once more after not receiving a confirmation email. Almost two months later, on July 30, I saw there was two charges posted on my account for $69.99. I called Shaw Academy and they said my account was active and I'd have to get transferred to their billing account. I cancelled my account again. I received an email on Aug 1 saying they do not issue refunds. There is no phone number to dispute the claim and I have contacted their email many times to try to dispute this. I called the only phone number they have listed in which I was told that billing can only be contacted via email and that they can't help me.

Also I spoke to 3 different employees via the phone and all 3 of them told me that 1st of all they would cancel my subscription(well before the renewal date) and submit my request for refund for that bs one click purchase that I gave no confirmation of purchase to. I want my banking informatipn deleted from yoyr money hungry scam of a system. I want my money back bc I was informed on 3 different occasions they had cancelled the subscription. As per requested. They made an unauthorized charge of $39.99 and are trying to tell me that I clicked "Buy Now" but they sent me a text saying, "Click here for FREE".
I signed up for a free trial of Shaw Academy. They began spamming my phone with text messages and told me I needed to download their app. I downloaded the app still believing they were being honest. They then sent me a text saying because I signed up for the free trial that I qualify for a FREE Starter Pack. I clicked the link in my text and when it opened it told me that I had been charged $39.99. I contacted them immediately because I didn't agree or authorize that money transaction. There was nothing asking if I'd like to purchase or "Buy Now" yet they are claiming there was was.
Desired Outcome

I have said it before and I will state it again, there was nothing that was I was purchasing anything. I received a text message saying to click the link for a FREE kits. Perhaps they enclosed the wrong link, I don't know. All I know is that when I clicked the link it said I purchased something. There was no where that asked if I'd like to purchase anything. There was nothing anywhere asking me to even confirm an order of any such kind. I followed a simple link they sent that said "Free" and when I opened it, to my horror I had been charged. I have never used it. I haven't even confirmed my supposed "order" I do not accept responsibility for their shortcomings and request that they are held accountable for their mistake and are required to refund the money I never authorized.
Sincerely

I recently signed up for a free 4-week trial course at Shaw Academy and they tricked me into buying their £49.99 toolkit.
On 1/Aug/2020 I signed up for a free 4-week trial course at Shaw Academy and they asked me to put in my bank details as part of signing up process. Soon after that I started getting spammed to check out their "Toolkit" and "e-cert" offers, and as soon as I clicked the button to only see what the offer was, £49.99 was deducted from my account. Nowhere was it mentioned that it would cost me £49.99 or that the button was a "one-click" buy button (since I was not taken to proper billing section, I am assuming it was one-click buy button). Please note that I put my Paypal in the billing details, so the transaction took place through my Paypal on 01/Aug/2020.
Following are the unique codes related to the purchase of the toolkit:
Transaction ID: ***XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Invoice ID: XXXXXXXX
I am still getting spammed to "check out" their toolkit even after being tricked into buying it already. It is truly a sad strategy and countless other people have had similar experience. I would appreciate if something can be done about this dispute as soon as possible. I have informed Paypal about this too.
On 04/Aug/2020 I made an official complaint to Shaw Academy and I received a bot with the following unique complaint ID: XXXXXXX
Thanks
Desired Outcome
I want full refund from the Shaw Academy and confirmation that I will not be charged any further amount in the future.

In the email, where they advertised the toolkit (find a screenshot of the email attached), there was no mention that the "unlock toolkit" button was actually a one-click purchase button and no where was mentioned that the toolkit costed £49.99. For an agreement to be made, all conditions of the sale including the price of the service should be made clear to the customer.
It is ironical you say your intention was not to upset, especially when you continue to trick people into paying for unneccessary "tools" and "e-certificates".

Hi ***,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you faced. However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase. Just in case a customer has failed to see that, we have also added a disclaimer on the banner itself. Even the attached screenshot states to purchase the toolkit and save 20%.
However as a goodwill gesture we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.
I was wrongly charged $69.99 for my free trial, which I terminated just 2 days after signing up.
I was wrongly charged $69.99 for my free trial, which I terminated just 2 days after signing up (the free trial is supposed to be for 30 days of access to a nutrition class). I completed the cancellation instructions on the online portal as instructed, and called the Customer Service phone number to finish the cancellation process as instructed. I spoke with someone on the line who said she cancelled my free trial and sent me an email confirmation stating so as well. However, my credit card was still charged $69.99. I've sent multiple emails asking them to refund me immediately, and have not yet received any resolution.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a full and immediate refund of the $69.99 that I was wrongly charged.

Hi,
Thank you for responding and taking the time to check thoroughly.
My response is as follows;

Refund me the 39 Euros or cancel the unauthorized payment of 39 Euros

Thank you!
I want to have access to my e-books and start my business courses, that's already had a payment taken out of my account, if I can not get that request, then I would like my refund back and deletion of my information please.

I want them to cancel my membership and fix their cancellation processes - the hoops you have to jump through to try and cancel are nothing short of a way to try and trick people into staying on in the membership and collecting money.
Hi ***, We are sorry to let you down with this experience. However, we would surely want to help you with the same, As per your request, We have gone ahead and canceled your subscription going forward you will not be receiving any dedication or notification with regards to this issue.

I would like them to refund £49.99 x 3 for the 3 months taken from my account, as it is immoral to auto-enrol, especially when it is clear that even the free course has not been accessed or used.

I want to receive a refund of the last two charges of $69.99 and I want my account permanently closed with Shaw Academy.

I would like a return of my money for 139.98

I was charge for *** for a 4 week free trail course
While registering, I was made to understand that it is a free course without charges but I should provide my bank information to activate the training. I was also made to understand that no payment will be charge from my account if I don't initiate the payment, which I never did before I was charged wrongly.
No mail was either sent to me before or after I was debited to notify me of such charges but it was recorded on my student profile that I made payment for a premium course I never opted for.
I want a refund of my money back to my account soon as possible please.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
The month of july, 2020. One click purchases linked directly to your debit card without a confirmation or invoice. Also I requested 3 times, I spoke to a live person 3 TIMES!! About cancelling this so called *** of a subscription and all 3 times they said they were cancelling it and refunding me my 50 dollars which they took from me, unauthorized. Yet here we are a month later and guess who just got charged 40 dollars. That is 90 dollars almost people of unauthorized charges. I think a class action is in order. A 4 week supposed free trial to a *** lesson ended up costing me 90 dollars.
I would like my money you took from me. Also to quit harming and scamming the public with your *** lessons but I will take the first request. Refund my money please.

That is unnaceptable and not true. Could you tell me please how a "one click purchase" is a subscription? Also I spoke to 3 different employees via the phone and all 3 of them told me that 1st of all they would cancel my subscription(well before the renewal date) and submit my request for refund for that bs one click purchase that I gave no confirmation of purchase to. I want my banking informatipn deleted from yoyr money hungry scam of a system. I want my money back bc I was informed on 3 different occasions they had cancelled the subscription. As per requested. So auto renewal should have never happened considering I was not supposed to have been under the agreement still!
Hi ***,
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

I have reached out to the Shaw Academy repeatedly for them to refund the money that they took without my consent. I merely want the money returned to me that they had no right in taking in the first place.

Thanks

Regards,
Shaw Academy
I am seeking a full and immediate refund of the $69.99 that I was wrongly charged.
