I was wrongly charged $69.99 for my free trial, which I terminated just 2 days after signing up (the free trial is supposed to be for 30 days of access to a nutrition class). I completed the cancellation instructions on the online portal as instructed, and called the Customer Service phone number to finish the cancellation process as instructed. I spoke with someone on the line who said she cancelled my free trial and sent me an email confirmation stating so as well. However, my credit card was still charged $69.99. I've sent multiple emails asking them to refund me immediately, and have not yet received any resolution.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a full and immediate refund of the $69.99 that I was wrongly charged.

I recently signed up for a free 4-week trial course at Shaw Academy and they tricked me into buying their £49.99 toolkit.
On 1/Aug/2020 I signed up for a free 4-week trial course at Shaw Academy and they asked me to put in my bank details as part of signing up process. Soon after that I started getting spammed to check out their "Toolkit" and "e-cert" offers, and as soon as I clicked the button to only see what the offer was, £49.99 was deducted from my account. Nowhere was it mentioned that it would cost me £49.99 or that the button was a "one-click" buy button (since I was not taken to proper billing section, I am assuming it was one-click buy button). Please note that I put my Paypal in the billing details, so the transaction took place through my Paypal on 01/Aug/2020.
Following are the unique codes related to the purchase of the toolkit:
Transaction ID: ***XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Invoice ID: XXXXXXXX
I am still getting spammed to "check out" their toolkit even after being tricked into buying it already. It is truly a sad strategy and countless other people have had similar experience. I would appreciate if something can be done about this dispute as soon as possible. I have informed Paypal about this too.
On 04/Aug/2020 I made an official complaint to Shaw Academy and I received a bot with the following unique complaint ID: XXXXXXX
Thanks
Desired Outcome
I want full refund from the Shaw Academy and confirmation that I will not be charged any further amount in the future.

In the email, where they advertised the toolkit (find a screenshot of the email attached), there was no mention that the "unlock toolkit" button was actually a one-click purchase button and no where was mentioned that the toolkit costed £49.99. For an agreement to be made, all conditions of the sale including the price of the service should be made clear to the customer.
It is ironical you say your intention was not to upset, especially when you continue to trick people into paying for unneccessary "tools" and "e-certificates".

They made an unauthorized charge of $39.99 and are trying to tell me that I clicked "Buy Now" but they sent me a text saying, "Click here for FREE".
I signed up for a free trial of Shaw Academy. They began spamming my phone with text messages and told me I needed to download their app. I downloaded the app still believing they were being honest. They then sent me a text saying because I signed up for the free trial that I qualify for a FREE Starter Pack. I clicked the link in my text and when it opened it told me that I had been charged $39.99. I contacted them immediately because I didn't agree or authorize that money transaction. There was nothing asking if I'd like to purchase or "Buy Now" yet they are claiming there was was.
Desired Outcome
I have reached out to the Shaw Academy repeatedly for them to refund the money that they took without my consent. I merely want the money returned to me that they had no right in taking in the first place.

I have said it before and I will state it again, there was nothing that was I was purchasing anything. I received a text message saying to click the link for a FREE kits. Perhaps they enclosed the wrong link, I don't know. All I know is that when I clicked the link it said I purchased something. There was no where that asked if I'd like to purchase anything. There was nothing anywhere asking me to even confirm an order of any such kind. I followed a simple link they sent that said "Free" and when I opened it, to my horror I had been charged. I have never used it. I haven't even confirmed my supposed "order" I do not accept responsibility for their shortcomings and request that they are held accountable for their mistake and are required to refund the money I never authorized.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
The month of july, 2020. One click purchases linked directly to your debit card without a confirmation or invoice. Also I requested 3 times, I spoke to a live person 3 TIMES!! About cancelling this so called *** of a subscription and all 3 times they said they were cancelling it and refunding me my 50 dollars which they took from me, unauthorized. Yet here we are a month later and guess who just got charged 40 dollars. That is 90 dollars almost people of unauthorized charges. I think a class action is in order. A 4 week supposed free trial to a *** lesson ended up costing me 90 dollars.

That is unnaceptable and not true. Could you tell me please how a "one click purchase" is a subscription? Also I spoke to 3 different employees via the phone and all 3 of them told me that 1st of all they would cancel my subscription(well before the renewal date) and submit my request for refund for that bs one click purchase that I gave no confirmation of purchase to. I want my banking informatipn deleted from yoyr money hungry scam of a system. I want my money back bc I was informed on 3 different occasions they had cancelled the subscription. As per requested. So auto renewal should have never happened considering I was not supposed to have been under the agreement still!

I was also made to understand that no payment will be charge from my account if I don't initiate the payment, which I never did before I was charged wrongly.

problem with refund issues on the one-click payment screen that's almost impossible to avoid due to the pop-up screen that's shows up out of no where.
July 19,2020 I was checking out the site after signing up for the free trial with the email address ***@gmail.com as I was scanning the web page a pop up notification showed up on my screen where it was almost impossible not to click on the one-click payment option. This ended up happening twice! I immediately emailed them for help with a refund due to what happen. That's when they sent an email saying these words "Once the Toolkit is activated in your account, it is made available to you immediately for download hence it cannot be disabled or the access cannot be revoked. Hence, we will not be able to process the refund as per our terms and conditions. Click Here to review the same in particular section 5.8." so they made me have to be ok with extending the trial for 6 month and access to the toolkit of choice and hard copy of diploma? My account doesn't even say anything different except the new course was added. That's when I looked more into the company and reviews and saw that I surly was not the only person with this issue.
Desired Outcome
refund

I want to cancel my subscription with Shaw Academy because they did not inform us upon registering that they have a fee to monthly subscription.

Wasnt able to cancel my free trial because the student ID they gave me did not work on their automated phone system so I was charged and got no refund
I signed up for the free trial. A couple days before it was to end I attempted to cancel so I would not be charged because I didn't find their services to be of any use for me. In order to cancel you have to call an automated phone system. It starts by asking for your student ID. I put in my ID that Shaw Academy issued me but the system didn't recognize it. There is no way to get passed *** part otherwise, no way to talk to a representative or anything. So I was unable to cancel and they charged my debit card once the free trial expired. The card number ends in 8740 (will provide full number if requested) and I was charged $61.99 on 7/21/20. I emailed their customer service and asked for a refund but they said I should have cancelled if I didn't wish to be charged. I explained that the student ID they gave me didn't work on their automated system and was met with indifference to the matter save for an offer of like 3 free months or something like that (see attached email documents). I explained the ridiculousness of the offer since I wasn't interested in their service at all. They should give refunds when its the fault of their system for my inability to cancel my free trial.
Desired Outcome
I just want the $61.99 refunded. That's all.

Charged for a tool kit that I was supposed to receive for free. Sent email to support and haven't received any response. The app doesn't load the course I signed up for. Not able to cancel during my free trial. Sent to call a number with a student ID that is rejected and no other options provided. Course is not at the standard it is presented. Spammed with emails sometimes 10+ a day to buy certificates, kits, etc. Some emails are even bullying- Your class is already started, your trial will be canceled if you don't attend now. ( Even though there is 30 mins until the class actually starts) Phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX to cancel with student id XXXXX. This company has taken advantage of me, charged me outside the agreement and hasn't allowed me to cancel.
Desired Outcome
For my free trail to end now and not be charge and to be refunded for the tool kit. $39

Thank you for the refund and canceling the trial.
They advertise you can cancel anytime but when you cancel they make you call during limited days/hours.
I signed up for the free 4 week trial and had to provide a cc #. They advertise you can cancel at anytime. I realized they make you sign up for specific days and times and I have 3 small children so committing to specific days and times is unattainable. I clicked to cancel the same day (Sat). Instead of cancelling like they advertised they told me I had to call and explain why I'm canceling before they would cancel but they are only open M-F. I don't think I need to explain myself to them and they shouldn't advertise you can cancel anytime if that isn't the case.
Desired Outcome
I want my membership cancelled and I want to feel confident my credit card won't be charged in a month. I also want them to change their advertising practices or honor them.

I signed up for a 4 week free trial. I canceled early and was told I would not be charged. I now noticed I have been charged twice and I cannot cancel
In early June I signed up for a 4 week free trial. I had to enter credit card info to register, but I canceled after only a couple weeks and was told I would not be charged. (I had to jump through hoops to cancel this free trial this is how I know I remember correctly that I canceled early) I just noticed I have been charged twice for $69.99 premium membership that I did not want and did not sign up for. I found the account and logged in and went through the steps to cancel the membership that I did not sign up for and it asked me to call a number to finalize the cancel even though it made me click "I want to cancel my account" like five times just to get to that page. I called the number and am asked to enter my account number followed by # which is XXXXX. I tried doing this several times and each time it said my account number was incorrect. There are no other phone numbers to be found there is no customer service way to contact them quickly. There is no way to call and ask for a refund or to even just cancel the account. This company is a scam!! I was charged July 2 and July 30 both for $69.99. I started the free trial June 4th. I used my debit card to register, they verified it by charging me $.50 "100% refundable" and then I canceled the subscription so I wasn't charged for my class. But then I was charged twice in July. And I still can't cancel the account because calling didn't work.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund. I am a college student living during a pandemic this is unacceptable. I did not want a membership this company makes it too difficult to cancel anything and even when I did cancel I was still charged and given a premium membership that I do not want.

They don't let you cancel your free-trial
I received many ads for their service and I decided to sign up for the free-trial. I immediately got bombarded with texts and emails and still hadn't been allowed to access any content from their site. I decided this was not going to work out so I would just cancel right away. They made me click to cancel about 7-10 times until they finally took me to a screen that said I had to call to cancel during their limited business hours.

I reviewed my account online and it says my account is canceled.
I signed up for the 4 week free trial. I cancelled before the 28 days. I was charged and now they won't refund my money back to my Card.
I signed up for the free 4 week trial membership on 6/14/20. I called and cancelled my membership Several days before my trial membership was over. I went through the prompts and all the extra offers that were offered and hit the button for I still want to cancel my membership. After the very last prompt, I pressed the number for I still want to end my trial membership. After that the phone disconnected on Shaw Academy's end and my membership was cancelled. Then I noticed a charge was made to my card on 7/27/20 for $69.99 when I cancelled my trial membership. I emailed Shaw Academy and advised them of this and that I wanted a refund back to my card. I was emailed back to notify me that I would not be getting a refund and that I never cancelled my membership, but they would make sure it was cancelled now and give me 6 months free access to the course so I could complete it. I don't want anymore access or I would have continued my membership. I want a refund back to my card as I did cancel my trial membership before it was over. I have not attended a class or even looked at one since before I sent the e-mail to them. I did not get anything out of the classes as I already knew everything they were teaching and I was not going to pay for a certification either. I just want my refund back as I did exactly as it says to the cancellation per the terms and conditions of cancellation before 7/12/20, which was when my 28 day free trial ended. I also have the Emails showing where I tried to resolve with Shaw Academy, the reply refusing my refund and everything stated And both statements verifying when my trial period was and charges were made. However, it won't let me upload more than 5 files.
Desired Outcome
I want the money charged to my card for the $69.99 refunded back to my card.

I do not accept this as a solution, as my call logs do not go back that far (you're talking about 3-3.5 weeks) and my phone carrier is cricket. They do not give out or send phone records either unless it's ordered by the court. Therefore, this does not help me. I just want my refund. You are taking money away from a single mom who is supporting 3 children during a pandemic and economic crisis. Life is already hard enough and to have a company taking money that is not theirs on top of that? That's pretty sad. If you want records, you can see when I accessed the classes last. Go and look at that to see when I cancelled. I'm sure you can pull things up from your app to see when the last time I attended a class was before I was billed and when I cancelled on the app and called the same night. I couldn't of gotten a phone number to call any other way and have known about the prompts and promotions to go through? That should be proof enough for you. However, I do have a screenshot with the phone number and my student reference number it said I would need and didn't. This is the only Document I have proving I canceled.

Shaw academy is taking money from me due to an error in their website.
Shaw academy seemed cool at first I used them about a week and then came their horrible practices. First their website charges me for some certificate I'm never going to get its a hard copy. I told them I accidentally clicked the hard copy certificate when the page was loading and they simply say sorry we can't refund it is not convenient at this time I told them I wanted to cancel my subscription and I wanted my money back and they say oh we will give u over 400 to 600 dollars worth of free stuff to keep using us but a refund is not convenient due to terms and conditions however it clearly states they will refund with just cause and I believe I have just cause I have already changed my debit card so they won't be getting anymore money even they try. Secondly they are very annoying they expect u to be in live classes when they clearly state you can just rewatch lessons to get your certificate I am clearly fed up with them and something needs to b done with this horrible company I can c why they have such horrible reviews

I tried to cancel my account, info given to do so is erroneous and believe this is a fraud case.
I tried to cancel my account after seeing another $69.99 charge for something I'm not using and thinking this amount was for 3 months, not one.
To my surprise... the online cancellation process (through multiple screens of "are you sure you want to cancel" led me to a phone number required to call to cancel. Another surprise... your system wouldn't accept my student ID #. I now believe this to be fraudulent and have filed a dispute with my bank - noting my inability to cancel at all and no other means of contact, but this email address that I could find the terms and conditions.
My member/student ID, according to the website, is XXXXX.
Desired Outcome
I have filed a dispute with my bank in an attempt to keep the current pending charge from taking place/going through. However, now that I believe this to be a fraudulent business practice on the part of Shaw Academy, and I have not used the service since before the first charge, I am seeking a refund of the first $69.99 charge.

They have reached out to me and canceled my membership and offered 6 months free. I appreciate it. However, what I am not satisfied with is that I tried to cancel but could not because their system provided a student/member ID that was not recognized through the ONLY cancellation process offered - via automated phone system. Had I not threatened to go to the Revdex.com and report them, I'm not sure I could ever have canceled my account.
They need to change this method of cancellation... at least 6 web pages trying to get you to not cancel and an erroneous student/member ID where I could never cancel.
You can consider this closed after this message.

Signed up for a "free" class on photography advertised through Instagram. Entered my information to access it. Weeks later I am charged for this class
I fall for the advertisement of a free photography class on instagram, trying to better myself during the quarantine. It touts itself as great for both beginners and experienced people looking to expand their business. Class is basic photo 101 garbage, info you can find in a manual, the app you are forced to access it with is garbage, class does not play at all on computer. I quickly abandon this class, as it's a 4-week free class, 2 a week, there's no way they're getting into anything of use to me despite harassing me through email and phone every time I'm even 5 minutes late to a clearly (poorly) prerecorded lecture to be quizzed by an AI afterwards. Cut to month later, where I find I am now being charged for this class. They had charged me earlier, when I entered my info to access the account, an innocuous little 50(c) charge. I made it absolutely clear I wasn't paying for this class, and had them refund it, however they keep advertising course materials I have to pay for, and remind me that I had to buy my diploma, which also contributed to me abandoning the class. But now I'm charged $34.99 for this garbage I had already learned by reading my camera's manual, which sent me into an overdraft, and since I'm on a limited budget, I might not be able to afford the compound charges my bank is saddling me with. But, convenient for Shaw Academy, they can just dodge my emails and convince PayPal I consented to being charged.
Desired Outcome
I need my money refunded. That's all I'm asking for. I will not take it in class credit, or "services". I made it absolutely clear I was not paying for your free class, and you charged me regardless.

Hi ***,
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We have reviewed your account as well as gone through your complaint. We would like to bring to your attention that the amount that has been debited from your account is for auto renewal of the course since you failed to cancel your account within the trial period. The auto renewal process is clearly mentioned in the terms and condition that you initially agreed to. we request you to email us at ***@shawacademy.com for further assistance.
Note- The advertisement stated free course for 4 weeks.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Regardless of your intent, you have upset me quite a bit by charging me 34.99 with your predatory system, which put me into debt with my bank. Your class was advertised as a "Free 4 Week Course" , which is different than your claim of it being advertised as "4 weeks of a course for free". The advertising of this as such inherently relies on people not assuming your course will charge them, and then not fighting back when you do. The horror stories I've read online frequently include people claiming you surreptitiously renewing their already canceled memberships, frequently people have to delete their entire card because you guys just keep re-upping them without their permission. I can also attest to having canceled it, then the very next morning my membership was suspiciously un-canceled, whether that was due to intentional malfeasance or simply a side effect of your app being poorly-programmed garbage, I can never know.
So, you can continue to hide behind your predatory terms of service, and earn an enemy who will sing your sins to everyone who will listen, a number increasing rapidly, or you can refund the money you have, in all moral honesty, stole from me. Your class, which was also advertised as "for all levels of expertise" was beginner-level garbage one gets before even Photo 101 class, literally the first two weeks should have been consolidated into one lesson it was so basic. You also advertised live teacher support, which would have been difficult if the classes weren't prerecorded, but even then you had an AI do it for you. Your class was significantly not as advertised, and thus you do not deserve the money I shouldn't have been charged in the first place. It's also worth noting that I tried to reach out about a week ago, via email and PayPal, but you refused to respond until I brought in the Revdex.com.

Signed up for a free trial of one of their courses, then accidentally touched a button to get a toolkit than I didn't want. Wouldn't refund.
I didn't like the format of the courses and asked to cancel and refund $39.99 purchase price for a toolkit I accidentally ordered and didn't want. I never downloaded the toolkit and sent my cancellation letter and request for refund within 5 minutes of purchase.
To place the toolkit purchase in an area where people might accidentally touch as I did, seems very deceptive. I would like a refund for $39.99 and cancellation of my subscription. I think that part has already been taken care of.
Desired Outcome
Refund $39.99

The purchase was accidental, and I never downloaded the product. They can easily disable that on their end.
Placing the one-click button in the middle of the page where it can easily br touched accidentally is just a scam.

I tried to cancel my trial membership and it literally will not let me.
After many prompts as I attempted to cancel my membership, I was told to call a number and enter my student ID which I have from the cancellation page. The phone system says my student ID is invalid (and I know it is not) and I have no way to reach a real person.
Desired Outcome
I would just like to cancel my free trial.

Thanks
I want full refund from the Shaw Academy and confirmation that I will not be charged any further amount in the future.

In the email, where they advertised the toolkit (find a screenshot of the email attached), there was no mention that the "unlock toolkit" button was actually a one-click purchase button and no where was mentioned that the toolkit costed £49.99. For an agreement to be made, all conditions of the sale including the price of the service should be made clear to the customer.
It is ironical you say your intention was not to upset, especially when you continue to trick people into paying for unneccessary "tools" and "e-certificates".
Hi ***,

However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase.

I would like my money you took from me. Also to quit harming and scamming the public with your *** lessons but I will take the first request. Refund my money please.

While registering, I was made to understand that it is a free course without charges but I should provide my bank information to activate the training. I was also made to understand that no payment will be charge from my account if I don't initiate the payment, which I never did before I was charged wrongly.
No mail was either sent to me before or after I was debited to notify me of such charges but it was recorded on my student profile that I made payment for a premium course I never opted for.

problem with refund issues on the one-click payment screen that's almost impossible to avoid due to the pop-up screen that's shows up out of no where.

I want to cancel my subscription with Shaw Academy because they did not inform us upon registering that they have a fee to monthly subscription.
I have registered because they said it was a free trial for a month and now they have billed me for a monthly subscription which was not informed during the registration.
Then, I just saw that they have automatically changed my subscriptiom to PREMIUM which I have not approved of.
I want to unsubscribe to Shaw Academy but they have no option in their app and only thru emails which will take some time.

They state you can cancel anytime which is clearly not true! I also want my membership cancelled. I possibly got it to cancel payment through Paypal so I might not be charged.

I want my money refunded my account canceled and removed from your system completely

However as a goodwill gesture our support have already initiated a refund request which will be credited back to the source in next next 3-5 business days.

I have filed a dispute with my bank in an attempt to keep the current pending charge from taking place/going through. However, now that I believe this to be a fraudulent business practice on the part of Shaw Academy, and I have not used the service since before the first charge, I am seeking a refund of the first $69.99 charge.
Hi ***,
We are sorry to hear you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We have reviewed your account and noticed that you have registered with us on 5 June. Since you failed to cancel your account within the trial period, the system has auto renewed your account and charged for the subscription. The auto renewal process is clearly mentioned in the terms and condition that you initially agreed to.
Please be aware that Shaw Academy charges are based on the subscription and not on student's usage basis. We request you to email us at ***@shawacademy.com for further assistance.

Hi ***,
Thank you for your feedback. We will have this escalated and have the necessary changes implemented.

Shaw Academy
I asked for a refund and wanted to cancel and they never responded to any email. They seem like a scam and trust pilot says they bought their reviews.
Transaction XXXXXX-XXXXXX
I tried to dispute this transaction because I was charged after I cancelled. I sent various emails on 5th of February 2020 and no one responded.
I would like a refund.
Refund my money for the unauthorized transaction.

Hi ***,

Refund $39.99
Hi ***, We are extremely sorry for the unpleasant experience with us, We have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged for the purchase (Module Toolkit) made via our one-click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non-refundable charge hence we would not be able to refund that amount, Our intention was not to upset you in any way.

The purchase was accidental, and I never downloaded the product. They can easily disable that on their end.
Placing the one-click button in the middle of the page where it can easily br touched accidentally is just a scam.
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

I tried to cancel my trial membership and it literally will not let me.
After many prompts as I attempted to cancel my membership, I was told to call a number and enter my student ID which I have from the cancellation page. The phone system says my student ID is invalid (and I know it is not) and I have no way to reach a real person.
I would just like to cancel my free trial.
Hi ***, We are sorry to let you down with this experience. However, we would surely want to help you with the same, As per your request, We have gone ahead and canceled your subscription going forward you will not be receiving any dedication or notification with regards to this issue.
