I am quite disappointed by this. I'm ashamed to say I did not research them before I signed up for the offer. I am certain they are vague for the purpose of misleading those who sign up and "forcing " them to carry on with course they don't particularly want. I've got a feeling that even if I had canceled in a timely manner, I still would have lost money somehow. They assure you when you sign up that they will remind you about the cancellation window. It's also on the membership page which has a countdown and when you go to cancel the subscription. But the next page alerts you that you will not be able to continue the trial classes even though that is what was offered. I also bought the bonus material ($40) since it came highly recommended as a good supplement but that is also no longer available if you cancel the subscription before the classes are complete. By the way, the bonus material is not really necessary unless you are DEFINITELY continuing to take the course. They bombard you with hard-sell emails and SMSs throughout the trial period, but not one of them is a reminder about the cancellation window as promised. It said I had one day left to cancel which was the day I took the last lesson and the day they also released the last portion of the bonus material I paid for. They quickly debited my account that same day for $70 and told me I was too late even though I had checked my account and the countdown the day before. It said one day left and of course it was the day I took the last lesson. I find that interesting. I am sorry I didn't cancel sooner as I felt like doing 3 days prior. I checked my email very thoroughly because I get many emails that I have to categorize and so I did some digging before the cancellation and after and I did not see anything resembling a reminder notice. I am not taking any of their courses. The course was good and I was glad I took it but it's not something I want to continue to explore as a career path. I followed through with the full module of 8 lessons and maybe I'll make my money back with the bit of knowledge I have. But I don't recommend them. I don't like the way they do business.
I signed up for a free trail. And canceled on the same day. A month later Im getting charged $59.99 for something I cancelled and never used.
I signed up and cancelled the same day. They had a list of classes that showed up to pick to learn & I didnt even get a chance to pick anything before the site kicked me off. I would understand that if I selected something theyd take the money but I didnt even do that! I manage to log back on and then deactivated and deleted it. One month later im getting charged $59.99 for something I never even really participated in. I literally got charged for signing up for a free trail and cancelling on the same day. I called my bank got the money back (seen in picture) and then today I got it taken back out by Shawacademy again (id leave the photo but itll only let me upload one). I know its them because I do not typically buy anything worth exactly that much. And if I did it's usually an in person buy and I take money out at an atm to pay for it. Its also not a bill because my bills are never that high.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of 120$ for the two times you took it out and cause my account to overdraft. If 120$ is a problem then I'll accept 70$ For this trouble youve caused me

I never authorized Shaw Academy to charge my account for continuing education. I never received a communication asking if I want to continue education
I signed up for free online classes, after my last class there was an information about continuing the course I would have to pay for classes. I did not take any action as I did not intend to continue as the classes were not that great. My last class was on Tuesday 05/05/2020. On Friday, 05/08/2020, without any notice I saw a charge into my account of $69.99 that I never authorized. My classes were always on Tuesdays and Fridays and after each class they would send me an email asking me to confirm my attendance for the next class. On my last class, 05/05/2020, after It finished they said to continue I would have to purchase the next module, which I did not do. I did not said ok to the offer for payments to purchase the next module nor click on anything inquiring the information beyond the free classes as I had no interest in continuing. I also did not received any email asking me to confirm my next class as they were doing it before. Three days later without any communication I see a charge in my bank account. I signed up with them for the free classes in the beginning of the pandemic as I've been furloughed and was trying to occupy my time like everyone else. When I finished my last class there was no information or message saying that in order for you to not be charged you need to cancel your account as we had to create one in order to do the online classes.
Desired Outcome
I would like to receive a refund on the amount of $69.99, which it was charged unauthorized in my account.

This is on behalf of a consumer for the following business:Shaw Academy***I was given an opportunity from being a Verizon customer to tryout the Academy. Once I got started, I noticed that the prices continued to go up. It is like a bait and switch, they advertised one price, and if you go to another page it is more than the previous advertised price. They also false advertised that they could provide an Associates Degree if you complete a certain amount of classes. I researched and this is not true. I have tried to cancel but I have not heard anything confirming my cancellation. They are wanting to keep my money that I paid for content that is not useful. This is not as advertised. They are not accredited.
Desired Outcome
Other (requires explanation)
I want my $19.95 returned to me and to have a person from management communicate that they will not charge me any further.

Shaw Academy has been billing my credit card for 3 months now, without any authorization that I knowingly gave. They provide NO contact info.
I don't know anything about how my credit card as " approved" for billing by Shaw Academy. Unless it is a hidden third party in an internet ad. I have no account number, name of sales rep, or any of those details. I want these monthly billings to my Capital One bank card stopped immediately, as I NEVER used their services!!
Desired Outcome
Stop billing to my credit card, immediately. I never authorized this!

Hi,
We could not find any subscription linked to the email [email protected] .
Please confirm if anyone of your friends or family have registered with us with your credit card details.
Please contact our priority support team directly at ***@shawacademy.com so that we can track the transactions and resolve the issue.
Shaw Academy charged my card 30 days into a 3 month free promo program through FIDO, and bribed me with free offers to try and justify their action.
I signed up and used Shaw Academy's free 3 month promo program that they advertised with FIDO, and was charged a fee of $71 (on my visa card) on April 16th 2020, 28 days into my free trial instead of the advertised 3 months.
They clearly mislead me on the advertising with false marketing which led me to sign up through it with them, and further on when I tried to unsubscribe (that same day once I saw the early charge), they made the process excruciatingly impossible as they don't give you a direct link to unsubscribe unless you call and wait on the line for 30 minutes as they ask you multiple questions on a survey to try and trick you into an upsell for other services, and use cultish language to guilt trip you "to not give up on your dreams and goals".
I also contacted the customer service email to find a resolution with them and politely emailed back and forth with them to get a refund as an unhappy customer, but instead of helping me they essentially bribed and offered me different programs for free to convince me to let the complaint and unwanted charge of $71 go.
Eventually they simply ignored and stopped replying to my emails once they clearly couldn't find any other way to justify their actions and silence me.
There is also no phone number available to contact them at to talk to a representative directly, as they are surely avoiding other customers who've they committed fraud with.
Finally the subscription they charged me for was the most expensive one ($71!!!). Not once throughout the sign-up process or afterwards did they ask or give the option of which subscription I would like once the trial of 3 months is over IF I even would have chosen to continue. They simply defaulted to subscribing me to the most expensive one, to make the most money off of me. For the record, there is no way to sign up for the free trial without giving your credit card number that they can then charge as they wish apparently.
The representative that I was dealing with was Marcas and the case number is #XXXXXXX. I have the original email thread to prove my communication.
Desired Outcome
Give me a full refund of the $71 that I was mischarged on the original Visa Credit Card, as I got tricked into this horrific scheme through false marketing.

This company is a scam, don't use them! This company scammed me after I canceled online and over the phone. They still took my money.
Like many people here, I started the free trial. After realizing that I did not get much from it and that I couldn't afford it due to Covid19, I looked into canceling. I then canceled online. That prompted me to call. I called and the robot told me my account was canceled and hung up. I figured everything was good until I checked my bank account. They charged me for the next month. I immediately reached out & they have been no help. Telling me I never canceled. Which I 100% did. There system just didn't register it. How is that my fault? All they do is try to give me deals on extra months which I do not want. This company is a scam.
Desired Outcome
I Would like a refund for the month they charged me for after I called to cancel.

I accidentally placed the order of an e-certificate when the app froze on the 9th may 2020. I didn't realise I had placed this order until I got an email from paypal in the 9th may to inform me that £39.95 was coming out of my account. I emailed shaw academy on the 9th may and got a reply on the 10th may 2020 saying there was nothing they can do but they had spoke to there manger and could offer me $199 bundle for toolkits and more e-certificates which I do not need as on the 9th may 2020 I deactivated my account as I did not wish to carry on with the course. I haven't got and I will not get my certificate. Also when ringing to cancel my account was told that the e-certificates only cost £17.99 so they are over charging.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of the full amount of £39.95 as i haven't got my e-certificate and never will so have paid for nothing.

I am glad to be receiving a refund thank you.
Charged for premium membership even after cancelling free membership for 4 weeks. Charged my credit card before billing period.
Enrolled in 4 week free course and they had a email reminder setup before they charge my card which of course they never sent but charged my card immediately. They charged my card before my free trial ended and claim I did not end my membership before that. The billing period clearly states the date of new course and yet my card was charged beforehand. Also there is no way to remove your card derails. As usual, I find similar complaints from others and they send same automated response saying we can't refund as you missed our terms and conditions. I told them I cancelled the subscription without even opening the course and yet they claim I've utilised 50% of course material and no refund policy.
Desired Outcome
Simply refund the charge for which no service has been utilised and no point in using a service which I would to live in constant fear of adding another charge to my card.

I attempted to cancel my membership for a Digital Marketing class under a free trial and was charged anyway. Asked for refund and no response.
I joined a Digital Marketing class over the span of approximately one month under a free trial. Being that I would not be charged unless I canceled before the deadline of May 3th, 2020 which is on a Sunday. I marked on my personal calendar to cancel before then so I would not be charged. On May 2nd, 2020 which was on a Saturday, I attempted to cancel my subscription via the Shaw Academy app. However, they requested that I must call them in order to cancel the subscription service and they were only open during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Since they were unavailable at the time to answer phone calls, I sent an email to ***@shawacademy.com requesting that my Digital Marketing subscription be canceled since there was no way I could contact them before the deadline to cancel which was May 3, 2020, on a Sunday. I was then sent an email from ***@shawacademy.com with a list of different situations I may be facing as a response to canceling my membership. The following Monday, May 4 I get charged $69.99 for missing the deadline for canceling the membership. The following day, I send an email again to with a screenshot of the charge to ***@shawacademy.com and telling them that this is a pending charge that I am expecting to not go through. The following day, I get sent an email from Paul of Shaw Academy firstly promoting Shaw Academy's services extensively before addressing the issue at hand which was my request for a refund of $69.99. Paul said quote "Now in terms of your account, I have personally reviewed your account and found that you had subscribed using your debit/credit card/payment method and availed of a 4-week free trial after which payment would be made. All aspects of this were made clear at registration, within your member's area and via communications. Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership" as well as "In terms of processing a refund, unfortunately, this is not something we can do as the free
trial was made available to you as per the terms and conditions you agreed to upon registration and the revenue has been recognized as per our revenue recognition policies." I was then prompted to send an email back letting them know that they fraudulently charged me when I explicitly requested via email that my membership be canceled, yet ignored my request and charged me anyway. I have screenshots of the exchanges I've had between myself and Shaw Academy as evidence of them fraudulently charging me $69.99.
Desired Outcome
I am simply asking for a refund of $69.99 since I requested that my membership be cancelled before the renewal deadline.

They realized the mistake made and have taken steps towards providing a refund for changing me when I cancelled before the deadline.
Shaw Academy ignored my request to cancel my trial, citing I didn't have an existing account, then charged me and ignored my refund request.
On 4/18/20 I initiated a support ticket to cancel my trial a week before it was due to post the full membership. Shaw support stated they couldn't help me unless I offered a valid email address. I gave them the only email address I have, they stated I needed to provide my full name, phone number and payment receipt. I provided the info and the last four of my card but didn't have a receipt because they're system didn't register my email to send one. No response. I followed-up, no response. A week later they charged my card. I follow-up, no response. I opened a new support ticket and I was right back to where I started. I provided the original support ticket number and asked them to look into it. They sent the same generic email "your email is not valid" please provide name, phone number and receipt. I provided the info. No response. I elevated the issue citing frustration that no one was handling this issue. No response. This is ridiculous. I did everything I could to notify in advance. Their system can't track my email yet it has enough to charge my card. Very frustrating.
Desired Outcome
Full refund of membership charge, $69.99.

My credit card was charged $69.99 regardless of me cancelling within my 30days free trial period.Requested refund & received automated responses
On the afternoon April 5, 2020, I registered for the Shaw Academy's free course (30 days trial) as listed on their website. I took the 4 weeks Leadership and Management course and did my first lesson on April 7th. I cancelled my membership on May 4th which is within the free period, however I noticed that my credit card was charged CA$69.99 on May 3rd. A payment I am uncertain of what I am being charged for, nor was I sent an email notifying me of the payment. I then sent an email with a follow-up from the cancellation email I received questioning the payment and was sent an automated response. I have since then tried to contact the company via email, facebook, whatapp but to no avail. I would like a refund as I had cancelled within my free trial period and I do not know why I was charged.
Desired Outcome
I would like Shaw Academy to provide me with a refund of CAN$69.99 to my credit card as I did cancel within the free trial period, I did not purchase a certificate/toolkit and I have not taken any classes since my last free lesson May 1, 2020. Thanks in advance

I was charged for a toolkit I did not select on their start course page and now they refuse to give me a refund and I need that to buy food.
I started the shaw academy free course on 29th April and the day I started I selected the start course button. The website then took me to a new page where I was charged for toolkit which I did not select to purchase and the money was automatically taken without my consent.
I have got in touch with shaw academy on 5 seperate occasions now through their site an email between April 29th and 7th may.
They have disregarded my request and say they cannot refund me depsite me not giving consent for this purchase.
The email adress provided above is the email I used to sign up for the course
They took the money from my paypal account. The email ID used for paypal was ***@hotmail.com ***
I am not working at the moment due to covid19 and I really need that money to put food on the table. They took £39.95 from my account.
They've disregarded what I've said and when I did actually get responses they were generic respinses saying they couldn't refund me despite me not wanting or using the toolkit they charged me for.
I don't know what to do as I have bills to pay and need to feed myself. It's already a difficult time and I feel they are taking advantage of people trying to better themselves in these hard times.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund for the money that was stolen from me.

Dear Student,

I was unfairly charged $69.99 for a subscription fee before the cancellation date of my free trial as well as $39.99 for a toolkit.
Someone had referred Shaw Academy to me with information that a free trial was available for a graphic design course. I signed up wanting to test their services and was immediately unhappy with the quality of service and blatent money schemes that they were perpetuating. I accidentally clicked on a toolkit button and was immediately charged $39.99 from my bank account when I explained the situation I was refused a refund and the customer service agent was ignoring my concerns and merely shoving module offers at a discounted price that I had no interest in. I decided to cancel the trial period but they force you to call a number and listen to a long circuitous automated system to force you to stay in their system and pay more money. I had a day left to cancel and I had to wait because their phone line to cancel is closed on the weekends. I finally called today on a Monday and had to jump through so many hoops to cancel, and when I opened my bank account it showed a charge of $69.99 even before my trial was over. They have no in person customer service agents and they always claim their phone lines are closed. They only send emails in the same format from different "agents" all offering the same learning modules for free saying this is a great offer but we can't give you a refund. They have no authentic customer service practices and simply try to lure people to pay money and coerce them through one click purchases and deny and recompense.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of $39.99 for the toolkit that I did not purchase and a refund of $69.99 for the subscription that I canceled.

After completing a course and cancelling my relationship, Shaw debited funds from my account for another course. They won't respond to refund requests
I signed up for a free course with Shaw Academy. On the last day of the course, I was unable to complete my final assignment and quiz. At 10:15pm that night, a representative called me asking me to to continue with the courses. I explained that I could not due to finances and the pandemic. I asked why my final assignment and quiz were locked. He offered me some other discounts which I did not agree to take and then advised me that I could go back onto the site and complete my final assignments, that they were now unlocked. I went on the next day and completed the final assignments. Fifteen minutes after their completion, I requested to sever my relationship with Shaw via a cancellation. I was required to call a number to complete that request, which I did. The day after the cancellation, I received a notice from my bank that funds had been debited from my account by Shaw for the next set of courses. I contacted them immediately and was issued an apology and assured via an email correspondence that the cancellation had been put through. I again asked about the refund of my monies which had been taken in error. I have only received a we have received your inquiry response and nothing else. Those funds should never have been taken from my account and I fully expect these people to refund them to me as they were advised that they were taken in error.
Desired Outcome
I wish to have my money ($69.99) refunded as it should never have been taken. The relationship with Shaw had been cancelled, which is reflected in their email response.

Charged 69.99$ on a credit card for a free course - they refuse to refund.
I signed up for a 4 week course advertised as free.
ON the site it said that as long you cancelled by June 1st You would not be charged ( I have screenshots of this)
I was immediately charged 69,99,$
I called to cancel and refund, was told over the phone I would be refunded.
I wrote to them to cancel and refund me - they informed me I Was no enrolled some advanced course (the course was advertised as free and not as an advanced course) and that they would not refund me.
They then told me they have signed me up for 6 months of free courses - I did not ok this.
Further searching shows this is a common practice of them with multiple instagram, facebook and other social media accounts created to warn people of their scam policies.
I attached a screenshot of what the sign up page looks like - where it advertises so payment

I would like a refund of 120$ for the two times you took it out and cause my account to overdraft. If 120$ is a problem then I'll accept 70$ For this trouble youve caused me
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I would like to receive a refund on the amount of $69.99, which it was charged unauthorized in my account.
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We give the highest priority to the quality of education and support to our students and we would like to make things right. You can contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for refund related assistance.
Other (requires explanation) I want my $19.95 returned to me and to have a person from management communicate that they will not charge me any further.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Stop billing to my credit card, immediately. I never authorized this!

I Would like a refund for the month they charged me for after I called to cancel.

I asked for my money back on a purchase I didnt need as I have deactivated my account and got no answer just offered promotions. I would like my money

I am simply asking for a refund of $69.99 since I requested that my membership be cancelled before the renewal deadline.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Full refund of membership charge, $69.99.
Dear Student,

I accept the response you provided on Revdex.com. However, your support staff finally Emailed me today stating that I cannot get a refund. Please be clear on the intentions.

I want a full refund for the money that was stolen from me.

I would like a refund of $39.99 for the toolkit that I did not purchase and a refund of $69.99 for the subscription that I canceled.

Unclear terms, charged prior to end of trial period, and refusal to refund.
I never received a confirmation email, never signed up for a scheduled course time, and was charged prior to the end of the free trial period. I contacted customer service via email to cancel and ask for a refund. They canceled my account, but refused to refund the fee.
I would like a refund. I would also suggest that they make use of confirmation emails, and make sure they wait till the end of a free trial to charge a new customer.

I wish to have my money ($69.99) refunded as it should never have been taken. The relationship with Shaw had been cancelled, which is reflected in their email response.

All that I asked was that my monies be refunded. If that is done then my issue will have been resolved.
signed up online class. monthly subscription of $59.99 and class price of $29.99. I could not stream classes and they refused to refund or cancel.
I was unable to stream classes. I reached out to Shaw Academy and they said that since I didn't cancel during the 7 day trial period they don't owe me a refund. I never was able to attend a single class due to their software not being compatible with my device.
I want a full refund for service I never received. That's two months at $59.99 and the class fee of 29.99.

I would like the 69.99$ refunded to my credit card
