money was taken from my account without my knowledge after I tried to cancel my 4 week free course. Now I cannot get in contact with the company.
So I signed up on about the 1st/2nd of April for a free 4 week graphic design course with Shaw Academy. I set a reminder on my phone to cancel the subscription the day before it ended so I wouldn't have to pay the fee. The day before my subscription ended I logged onto my account and went to the "membership and payment" tab to cancel my subscription. The tab was empty saying that no payments are scheduled as I was on a free trail. There was no option to cancel anything and nor was there an option to change my card info etc. I figured that this meant I would no longer be able to access the course the next day (when my trial ended) and that I would have to make a purchase myself if I wished to continue which I did not. The next day a sum of 43 Pounds was taken from my account. No warning emails and without my knowledge. I went straight back to my account on the the "membership and payments" tab and saw that a premium membership course for graphic design has been purchased. Only now did I have the option to cancel the subscription which is exactly what I did. I followed all the steps and phoned the number at the end several times and got no response. I figured it was a Saturday so I will try again on Monday. On Monday I tried to cancel my subscription again and followed the steps and phoned the number at the end and cancelled my subscription, I did this twice as the subscription was still active on my account and I hadn't gotten any emails saying I had cancelled nor a sms. I sent an email to Shaw on the 4th of May (Monday so I thought I would have a better chance at hearing back) and have still not gotten a response. Today (11th of May) I sent a facebook message and only got automated responses back. I have not used any of the purchased material and would like a refund and to cancel my subscription. It has been very hard to get in touch with the company and I am really dissappointed.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund please, I have not used/watched any of the purchased course material and have tried numerous times to cancel my subscription.

Company has unethical billing practices, charging customers without authorization.
I signed up for a 4-week free trial on 4/9/2020. On 5/5/2020 my account indicated there was 2 days left on my free trial. On 5/6/2020 I cancelled the account. My credit card was charged on 5/7/2020. I asked for a refund and was refused. In addition, there are one-click purchase links everywhere on their webpage, and constant pop-ups with one-click purchases. It only takes one mistake to accidentally click on the multitude of constant one-purchases. This company should be forced to change their sales and marketing practices, in the interest of consumer protection. Clearly, many victims fallen prey to their deceptive practices.
Desired Outcome
Please refund my credit card $110 USD. Company should be held responsible for deceptive practices.

I tried to cancel my account during the free trial. I called and was told it was cancelled but I was still charged. I emailed & they refuse to refund.
I signed up for a free 4-week trial on 4/7/20. I attempted to cancel through their website on 4/22 and was instructed to call a given number. I called on 4/28 and listened to an automated response that, after 4 minutes, told me my account was cancelled. I was then charged $69.99 on 5/5. I have an open dispute through PayPal for this. I also emailed and asked Shaw to cancel my account on 5/5 and to refund me my monthly fee. I received a response on 5/8 stating that my account had been cancelled but that my money would NOT be refunded because I didn't cancel in time. However, when I checked my account at 10:00 pm on 5/8 it was still active. I emailed Shaw again asking for a refund and cancellation of my account.
Desired Outcome
I would like my $69.99 membership fee refunded, as I did cancel within the 4-week timeframe, and I would like my membership cancelled.

After cancelling my subscription I will still charged $69.99
I signed up for the 30 day free trial. After the first week I realized it was not for me and went through the online process of cancelling my subscription. The end of the online cancellation took me to a page that explained I still had access to the material for the rest of the free trial and my status was set to Non-Renewing. I assumed that meant the subscription would be automatically cancelled once the free trial was over. It was misleading and false! At the end of the free trial I was charged $69.99 and found that my account was set to Renewing and had upgraded to Premium Membership. I realized at this point that I had never received a confirmation email of my cancellation and I would have needed to take a screenshot to prove I had cancelled the subscription.
I have called about a refund but it is only automated and you are not given a choice of disputing your bill or talking to a real person. I have emailed and received a response that there is no record of me cancelling and there for they will not give a refund.
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund of my $69.99

Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
I registered for the 28 day free trial and my credit card was charged $69.99, despite cancelling the membership the same day.
On May 1, 2020 I registered for the 28 day free trial and that same day emailed the company to cancel the subscription so I would not be charged once the period ended. May 1, I was charged $69.99 to my credit card. Since I received an automatic email saying that there would be a card validation, I waited until Monday to see if the charge would be refunded.
May 5, 2020, I emailed the company asking for a confirmation that my subscription was cancelled, advised that I had a charge of $69.99 to my credit card and that I wanted a refund since I cancelled my subscription within the 28 day free trial period. May 7, the company wrote back to me saying I did not cancel my subscription before the end of the free trial period and ''In terms of processing a refund, unfortunately, this is not something we can do as the free trial was made available to you as per the terms and conditions you agreed to upon registration and the revenue has been recognized as per our revenue recognition policies.'' They offered to extend my membership for 6 months. I wrote back saying I was not interested in having the membership extended for free and that I wanted a refund because I cancelled my subscription within their terms and agreements - 28 days from the registration date. https://www.shawacademy.com/terms/
May 7, they offered 12 months for free and stated yet again that they could not refund me. I again responded that I was not interested and wanted a refund to my card. I have yet to receive a response.
This issue seems to be reoccurring, as I see more than a dozen complaints on Revdex.com with this exact issue since the beginning of May and refunds have been issued. This seems very much like a scam...
Desired Outcome
I want a refund of $69.99 to my credit card.

I have been charged £39.95 for a toolkit that I didn't purchase!
I signed up for a free course on the 8th of may, I entered my PayPal details understanding that I can cancel before I start getting paid after the first month. I then noticed you could buy toolkits before I could even see what this was it popped up on the page congratulations for your purchase!!! I hadn't even clicked on it and it had charged me £39.95. It didn't ask me to re enter my PayPal details, didn't ask for confirmation nothing!! It just took £39.95 from my PayPal, I haven't touched the toolkit and have tried so many different ways to getting in touch with someone, I just want my money back in my account.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund of the full £39.95

Terrible company. Cancelled service but still had charges on my credit card.
I had a free trial of Shaw Academy Social media training courses. I never actually used their services or took the classes. My account was cancelled, and the company emailed me that my account was canceled on 4/7/20. But few weeks later I was charged 59.99 on two occasions without my authorization. trying to contact company is a hassle. they do not answer phone at all, and email takes forever to get a hold of company. terrible business practice that consumer can't speak to an employee when I call about their product.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund immediately of the two $59.99 charges on my credit card. $120 total. obviously right now is tough times and money is tight and this has set me back waiting to get a hold of Shaw Academy.

Signed up for a free trial, took money for their toolkit without me wanting it or being asked if I wanted to purchase it.
On Sunday 3rd may I signed up for a shaw academy free 4 week trial. For this I had to enter my paypal payment details. Then whilst on my account dashboard as I hovered over this page looking at it to find my way around it, it purchased the £39.99 toolkit and took payment from my PayPal without asking me to confirm if I wanted to buy it. I immediately emailed them and also tried to stop the PayPal payment but it was taken so quick I couldn't cancel it. They have taken ages to reply and have eventually said I cannot have a refund but they will give me credit on their site. I don't want to use their site as I am worried that going on it again more payments may be taken. I have asked them to refund and cancel my account.
Desired Outcome
A refund of the £39.99 which was taken when not required.

Requesting a refund after I was charged for a course that I cancelled. Also for the company to stop trying to sell me extra courses.
I signed up for the free trial and cancelled my account after 2 weeks, via the phone AND over email, getting confirmation of this cancellation.
They said they will "credit your account with 2 months free access completely free of charge"...
Then I get a notification that they have charged my PayPal account £49.99 and will take the money out of my account even after I cancelled. Now they will not let me dispute the claim as they keep trying to sell me new courses and extras and I keep getting notifications and emails from them about missing classes.
This company is a SCAM and I will take this dispute to the media if I have to as they are unlawfully taking money from people. I am currently in contact with other people they have scammed and done this to. Disgraceful.
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund and to stop being harassed by their emails and notifications trying to get me to purchase new things or continue with them.

I want ALL of my money replaced and put back on my card. I asked this company and was told that they couldn't because my 30 days expired and it didn't
I was only able to log in a few times in which I stated and after that, my email and password *** not found. I read the reviews and found out that this always happens when someone enrolls with this company. How can you expect someone to cancel if they can't even login??? I want my money back in my account right now, as of May 9, 2020 at 5:37 p.m. As far as enrollment, I signed up 0n 04/11/2020 and the class didn't start until 04/18/2020, so technically my 30 days is NOT up and I've asked to cancel with a full refund.

I tried to cancel my trial with this company by calling the number of their website as it states and it won't let me cancel.
The company has a members page where in settings if you need to cancel you click it and it sends you to a page with a phone number and student reference number that it says you'll be asked when calling. I call and it's an automated voice service and it keeps telling me to press 2 to cancel over and over again but won't go past that to let me cancel. I don't want to be charged after my trial is over but I can't cancel.

They allowed me to cancel and thus far have not charged me.
I did not approve a charge for a certificate and asked them to refund the charge. They refused. This website is a scam and I see similar complaints.
This company offered a service of a free month of a membership to a course. They are not supposed to charge me until June 3rd for the membership, once the free trial ends. They charged me for a certificate, which I did not authorize. I contacted them to refund my money and they refused to do so. This website is a scam and they are stealing people's money, and during coronavirus, when people are more vulnerable. They should be shut down.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund of the $39.99 that I was charged, and I want them to never do this to anyone again.

I signed up for a free subscription whith Shaw Academy for social media marketing and there was a one click purchase of a certificate for 39.95 May 4, 20 Transaction ID: *** The purchase was made through PayPal. This was my first time downloading the Shaw Academy app also my first time using Shaw Academy I was un aware of their one click purchase at the time I was scrolling and accidentally clicked the one time purchase for the certificate I just want my refund being the fact that I had no idea of their one click purchase at the time obviously now I know but shot academy does that on purpose they literally put a one click purchase place down below so people can accidentally click it and it's not fair at all because you don't even see it pop up it's just there and it's not even in bold letters so I didn't even click on the actual price, All I did was click on the certificate box and it wasn't even to purchase it was to click on it so that I can give you information about what it is yet they charge me almost $40 I need a refund Because the reason why I clicked on it was to see what the certificate was I thought I can get it sooner there's no information of even what I bought they charged me $40 and I have no idea what I purchased there's no way for me to have click that and understood wha was being shown, Shot academy does not give you information about their courses on their app.
Desired Outcome
All I wanted was to take a four week free course for social media marketing from Shaw Academy they gave out false Information on there Instagram site. Once I realize that the information that was given to me on Instagram from Shaw Academy was false I wanted To cancel my subscription at the time that the purchase with me I wanted to see if there was a sooner way that I can get a certificate certificate still out to me as I was trying to click it to do research I got charge all I want is a refund I don't want to take the free course there isn't anything that I want to do other than to receive my refund it was supposed to be free and I wanted to have kept it that way please and thank you

Shaw Academy charged my debit card for an e-certificate which I did not wish to purchase then refused to provide a refund.
I am on a free trial with Shaw Academy. On 4 May, while exploring a course page on the Shaw Academy website, I inadvertently purchased an electronic certificate with one click - a certificate I cannot claim without first completing a course and passing course assignment, which I have no intention of doing.
The button I clicked on was part of a banner advertising the e-certificate, and was misleading in that it was not clear that the button would not take me to a checkout page, but would instead lead to an immediate charge to my debit card. It was not clear that the 'one click purchase' text at the end of the banner applied to the big red button - instead this appeared to be a separate, faster option.
After clicking on the button, I received a pop-up confirming I had 'unlocked' an e-certificate. I realised that the 'one click purchase' text must have in fact applied to the big red button, so I immediately sent Shaw Academy an email requesting a refund.
Shaw Academy replied the following day stating that they cannot disable the e-certificate and cannot provide a refund but I do not find this satisfactory. I have sent repeated follow up emails since then but have not received any further correspondence.
Desired Outcome
Full refund for the cost of the e-certificate

I still haven't received any further correspondence from Shaw Academy via email but have now received a full refund after they responded to my query via Revdex.com.
Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
They offered a free trial and took my credit card details stating it was to verify that I was a real person and that if I was to continue after the initial free month period I would be charged their monthly subscription rate. As the offer made it seemed reasonable but when getting through to the course page it became clear that the offer was deceptive as the lesson are constructed in a way that you cannot complete it at your own pace and it was set at times that were no suitable. With this extra information I cancelled straight away stating to cancel my trial and subscription within 20 minute of my initial interest by email. This was responded by a zendesk message stating a complaint no XXXXXXX - stating someone would get back to me.
This occurred on 18th march 2020 - nobody can back to me. However they proceeded to present the card detail to my bank on the 16th April 2020 with a payment date of the 15th April 2020. Tried further contact with Shaw Academy via email and phone but told that it was to late to refund. I believe this to be a scam just to take peoples money. Please help get this practise stopped once and for all.
Desired Outcome
A refund of the card payment taken by shaw academy and confirmatio thatthat further payments will not be taken.

Dear Student,

Although Shaw Academy teaches students some valuable skills, they are not completely honest about their business. I have taken several online classes through Shaw Academy. I started with the free trial and took the four week photography course. The class was live and I enjoyed it since photography is one of my hobbies. There was a lot of advertisement for the Advanced Diploma in Photography Program. This class was also live and I agreed to pay for it. Once I finished the class I wanted to discontinue my paid membership. After several attempts to contact Shaw Academy to discontinue my membership, they charged me again. Shaw Academy then offered me a life time membership at no extra cost. I took it since they would not refund my money. I gained some valuable insight that helped me through a career change.
As time went on, they kept advertising that their classes were still live. They stopped live classes though. Then Shaw Academy said its advanced classes were a EQ Level 5 Diploma and that is equal to an Associate's Degree in the United States. This is not true. The classes are not equal to an Associate's Degree in the United States. Most recently they took away my life time membership and said classes are no longer offered that way. I would have to pay for them again. I will definitely not make that mistake again.
getting the run around for cancelation of free trial and will not refund $39.99 from a unauthorized charge.
On May 5th I started a free photography trial with shaw academy. The trial is for 4 weeks long then you will be charged to continue the lessons. They make you enter your debit card info to even start the trial..My thought was to try it out to make sure I like it before I invest in something like this. On May 6th I noticed 3 transactions on my PayPal account, 1st was $.50, 2nd was -$.50, the 3rd was $39.95. I couldn't believe they charged me for something. So I looked into it and made a phone call. I spoke with shantelle H, she was very nice and said she would look into it. She also offered some extra add ons. So this morning I received and email saying they will not refund me because I clicked the button for the tool kit, now Mind you there site and the way they do things is complicated. They said I authorized the purchase and was told before I clicked that I was purchasing the tool kit. Well that is a lie, I was only doing the free trial to check it out before I would purchase anything. Isn't the what free trials are for? This company is sneaky. The way to cancel your membership is ridiculous. You go through about 5 times clicking the cancel trial ( with offers to stay) before you end at a phone # you have to call with a code to cancel. Even after speaking to shantelle and many emails to the company my trial is still going. I have not used any of the trial or even opened the tool kit because I want my refund for something I did not purchase. They tricked me. I want a refund for the $39.95 and my trial canceled. This company is a scam and steal your money by tricking you into purchasing. This is unbelievable that they won't refund me but are trying to give me a certificate of completion, all course toolkit plus two hard copy diplomas worth $499. Make no sense, I don't want any of that I just want a refund and my account canceled.
Desired Outcome
Refund of $39.95 and my account canceled

I also emailed and asked Shaw to cancel my account on 5/5 and to refund me my monthly fee.
I would like a full refund of my $69.99

Being charged four courses I cancelled weeks ago.
Enrolled in free course early Apr.Had login issue send a message Apr7 never did course cancelled a couple days later. Had to call a an automated phone number to verify I wanted to cancel. The cancellation supposedly went through what three weeks later I am charged $69.99. I had to add the app again to see if I could log in to contact them. They cannot find my email. So I don't have the app I am not registered I'm not picking any courses. But I am paying for nothing
I want my $69.99 refunded

I want a refund of $69.99 to my credit card.

I accept the response, as I received the reimbursement of $69.99.
I want a refund of the full £39.95
They have refunded me the full ammount, thank you for helping
Terrible company. Cancelled service but still had charges on my credit card.
I had a free trial of Shaw Academy Social media training courses. I never actually used their services or took the classes. My account was cancelled, and the company emailed me that my account was canceled on 4/7/20. But few weeks later I was charged 59.99 on two occasions without my authorization. trying to contact company is a hassle. they do not answer phone at all, and email takes forever to get a hold of company. terrible business practice that consumer can't speak to an employee when I call about their product.
I would like a refund immediately of the two $59.99 charges on my credit card. $120 total. obviously right now is tough times and money is tight and this has set me back waiting to get a hold of Shaw Academy.
Dear Student,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

A refund of the £39.99 which was taken when not required.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
Requesting a refund after I was charged for a course that I cancelled.
I would like a full refund and to stop being harassed by their emails and notifications trying to get me to purchase new things or continue with them.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

A full refund of all of my money
Dear Student,

Hi ***,
I have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that the refund was already processed as on 13th May for payment taken on 9th May and was credited to the card ending with 4046. PFA.
Regards,
Shaw Academy.
I want to be able to cancel before I'm charged!
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
Thank you
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I want a full refund of the $39.99 that I was charged, and I want them to never do this to anyone again.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I signed up for a free subscription whith Shaw Academy for social media marketing and there was a one click purchase of a tool kit for 39.95 May 4, 20
I signed up for a free subscription whith Shaw Academy for social media marketing and there was a one click purchase of a certificate for 39.95 May 4, 20 Transaction ID: *** The purchase was made through PayPal.

I would like Shaw Academy to refund my money and cancel my subscription properly.
I signed up for Shaw Academy because of a promotion with FIDO for 3 months free online course. However, there was no way to enter the promo code on the Academy website and I was charged $34.95CAD for a toolkit that was supposed to be free from their email. The subscription cancelation process was very sketchy too.
Please refund my money of $34.95CAD and cancel my subscription properly.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

A refund of the card payment taken by shaw academy and confirmatio thatthat further payments will not be taken.

Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Refund of $39.95 and my account canceled

They are going to cancel my account and give me a refund. Thats all I wanted done. Just stinks I had to spend my time writing the Revdex.com to get this solved.
