Cancelled account, and they still charged me and will not refund money even though I have an email confirming cancellation.
On April 2nd, I signed up for a 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy. Around April 7th I realized I wouldn't have time for the classes so I sent an email asking them to cancel my account. They emailed back on the 7th saying my account had been cancelled. May 1st, they charged me 69.99 and are refusing to refund it because even though I have proof of my account being cancelled they do not show it "cancelled" and they wont refund me because it's "already in their revenue".
Desired Outcome
would like my 69.99 refunded and for them to never charge me again

Unethical sales practices and terrible customer service
Despite being warned online by others on reddit, etc, I reached out to Shaw Academy myself to verify the legitimacy of their business. I was assured they were professional and that I would be happy with their services. Considering that, I decided to sign up. Since signing up, it has been anything but happy. I feel like they have taken advantage of me and they refuse to resolve the problem. Despite multiple contacts to customer service by email, I constantly receive poor communication. Much of the communication to my questions are completely irrelevant, such as "please log in to your courses" and "we promise you will like the service" despite these answers having absolutely nothing to do with my question. The agents answering are never the same and never know what the details were of the previous two emails. Then when you finally explain everything again, they tell you that you will be contacted, except you are never contacted.
Beware of this company, they hold onto all your credit card information and personal information upon sign up. They use bad sales practices such as One click purchases which, quite frankly, are in my opinion, unethical.
Here is why I am so angry with them. On my login page, there was a countdown timer, indicating a limited time discount for their services. Upon verifying that everything seemed legitimate and that their customer service appeared helpful and friendly, I decided to buy a subscription. No sooner had I done this, I started to realize my terrible mistake. As soon as I was baited into their "limited time frame discount", their website let me know they were now offering a much lower price for everyone who signs up. They literally charged me more money, using a deceptive practice with a countdown timer, then lowered the price for everyone else the next day. I of course was upset that this happened, reached out to support and was told it would be resolved. Of course that isn't the case or I wouldn't be writing this complaint. At this point, I want a complete refund and want nothing to do with their organization any longer. Terrible service and I cannot recommend them to anyone for how they have failed to deliver on their promises.
Desired Outcome
Full monetary refund

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
I am simply trying to cancel my membership before I get another charge, I called and got hung up so I emailed them and called again and no answers.
I was told that there would be no charge for 4 weeks and then there was a charge for $1 and now I can't cancel something that's not working for me without a phone call and whenever I call I get told they are too busy and they will return my call which has yet to happen from the 3 days I've called. So I emailed them and was told it would take up to 48 hours and it's has now been 60 hours. I get a response about anything else more swiftly. I don't understand why a phone call is necessary to cancel a membership and then they don't answer or help.
Desired Outcome
I want to cancel my membership without any further charges before the 4 weeks have subsided.

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
I cancelled my subscription during the trial period but the Shaw Academy took £49.99 from my account anyway. I have email proof of cancellation.
On the 4th April I started a free 28 day trial with Shaw Academy for a photography course. The terms of this were that I had to cancel within the trial period or else I would begin a monthly subscription of £49.99. On the 7th April I cancelled the free trial due to a change in circumstances and received an email from the Shaw Academy confirming that the cancellation had been acknowledged. I have copies of this email. On the 1st May, despite me cancelling within the prescribed 28 day trial period, the Shaw Academy took the amount of £49.99 from my bank account. They have not responded to emails or telephone calls regarding the matter.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking the full amount of £49.99 to be refunded and no further monies to be taken from my account.

Registered for 4 week trial, unsatisfied with product. Thought I had cancelled, no email contact received. Billed £49.99 unexpectedly. Will not refund
I registered for a 4 week trial with Shaw Academy and soon realised that the content wasn't pre-recorded and not interactive. There are also no playback options on videos, no way to contact tutors, and every other feature comes with a premium tag attached with no purchase confirmation upon selection.
I had thought I had probably cancelled, as I received no contact from the company for about 3 weeks and my memory is bad due to mental health issues/medication.
Woke up on the 5th of May to an unexpected £49.99, with no notice or reminders received. I've also found that I cannot remove my payment details, so I am terrified of being charged again for something and being hit with additional bank fees.
Pursued this with their customer service, and did eventually manage to have my account changed to non-renewing (not cancelled), but only after being bombarded with messages and blocks of text about not giving up, how I am not achieving my dreams and goals - I'm leaving an online learning service, not stood on a bridge to a suicide helpline, guys, please. You are driving me in that direction though.
All in all, they will not refund the fee. A fee that I cannot afford on my overdraft amount. They refer me to terms and conditions that only mention that refunds are not given for partially used materials/memberships - I'm now 2 or 3 days into a subscription I have no touched since week 1 of the trial. I would argue this is all unused. While they have offered me 6 months and then a year's worth of free access to their services, this does not feed me and nor does it aid my learning.
All I want is my money back so I can feed myself, as I am technically homeless due to the current coronavirus issue after losing my home and having to change jobs. I cannot use the services Shaw Academy offer, I have no dedicated internet connection and a limited phone network bandwidth. I am no longer wanting to pursue my 'dreams and goals' as I have lost the job I was upskilling for and have no options to return to this in the near future.
Could someone please advise on how to get my money back? Will I have to contact my bank to pursue this?
Desired Outcome
Refund of fees for unused membership, to minimise stress and mental health decline due to money issues and impact to living conditions.

Pursuing refund via email provided.
I enrolled in a 4 week free trial program. A payment was drawn from my account without my authorization or being notified of my 4 week trial ending.
I enrolled in a 4 week free program and had agreed to being notified of my trial ending before a payment is drawn from my account. I barely used the free trial and relied on the company sending me a reminder of a payment being due soon. I noticed I had been charged $69.99 on May X XXXX. I immediately cancelled my membership the same day and contacted Shaw Academy requesting a refund to an unauthorized payment from my account. However my request was refused.
Desired Outcome

I asked for a cancellation of a trial when I didn't like the services & received an email saying it was and was still charged a month later.
I signed up for a 60 day trial but did not find the service Shaw Academy offered useful. On March 25th I emailed them asking for a cancellation. I then received an email saying the account would be reviewed and cancelled in 48 hours. I replied On April 6th asking for a confirmation email but never revived one so I emailed again. Never received any confirmation from their support team. May 6th my checking account was charged 59.99 for the trial that I had asked to be cancelled. I emailed their billing department and they emailed back saying they can't refund a charge for a trial that hadn't been cancelled. I have screenshots of all emails and charges from my debit card.

I want a refund of the 59.99 because I never used the online learning service and asked for a cancellation within the trial period.

I cancelled my membership during free trial period, but they charged me anyway. They now refuse to refund stating I did not cancel during trial period
I subscribed to a free trial membership. I then tried to cancel my membership during free trial period. The site does not let users cancel. It 's like they make the site crash when you try to do so (I checked online, and many other users experienced teh same issue on their site when trying to cancel membership).
I then asked my account to be cancelled by email. One support agent answered my that my membership would be cancelled within 48 hours. This was during the free trial period.
I realized weeks later that I was charged 49.99 by mistake by Shaw Academy. I asked by email to be refunded and also asked that my membership is cancelled (again) and my account deleted (again).
They keep refusing this solution, saying: "Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership". And now they are proposing me to give me "6 month membership" free of charge in exchange...
This has been going in circle, and that lets me know they are really dishonest and that they do try to take advantage of people as much as they can.
Desired Outcome
I want to be reimbursed. I also want my account to be deleted, with all my information from their database.

The support email says I was supposed to be refunded within 5-7 business days. It has been 9 business days today and I have not received refund.
As so many other users complained about being scammed by ShawAcademy for several months after they unsubscribed, I blocked my card by security because I was scared of being stolen again, which costed me 15.
Not talking about the time for research about this fraud company, and the pain of renewing all direct debiting authorizations using my new debit card.
I am still waiting for a solution to be refunded.

I signed up for a 4 week free trial membership but cancelled the trial on the same day for various reasons. I was in contact with Shaw Academy via email and they confirmed that my account had been cancelled and that no payments would be taken. However a month later on the 5th of May an amount of £45 was debited off of my account.

Charged $40 without consent and for no benefit
I signed up for a free promotion class on Mobile App Development with Shaw Academy. I did not find the 4-week class all that useful, and so had no intention to continue in the following month, nevertheless, on Sunday 5/3/2020 I was completing course assignments. With week 4 quiz done I received the screen saying "complete your final assignment"; nothing was presented to me in terms of either costs or benefits. After clicking on "Final assignment", suddenly I was charged $40 with a message that I need to complete the next course module (pay more $$) at which point my final assignment would be available. No receipt or charge explanation was sent to me. I canceled the account to avoid being charged for next module and immediately complained to Shaw Academy that I got charged for nothing, without either my agreement or any benefit to me. They said to send a receipt and I responded that they did not send me any and asked for a refund. 3 days later, on 5/6/2020 they generated an invoice (I am certain that it was done on purpose to "support" denying my claim) and responded that they are not giving a refund as I purchased a "certificate" I completely disagree with this statement.
Even though I dispute this charge, I cannot call and talk to a live person at Shaw and have no hope of them taking action, I am asking Revdex.com to please reverse this charge, since the practice of charging for nothing and denying a refund is not how the business is done in the USA.
Desired Outcome
I want my money back since I was charged without consent.

I was accepted to do a different course with a different institution and I couldn't manage both so I decided to go with the other institution and I deleted my account with Shaw Academy .. I received a notification today May 8th,2020 from PayPal stating that USD$69.99 was paid to Shaw Academy ... I have been charged for the subscription plan although I wasn't notified that my free trial is expiring. They are declining to issue me a refund.
I have signed up for a free 1-month trial at Shaw Academy on April 7th. On May 5th, I have been charged for a monthly subscription fee of 49.99 EUR via PayPal. I wasn't notified that my subscription is expiring and that I am going to be charged on May 5th instead of May 7th. Two minutes after receiving my invoice, I cancelled the membership plan on the website. Therefore, I am not even using the service I was charged for. Immediately, I e-mailed the support team at Shaw Academy. Firstly, I have received a generic answer. Then, I have received another generic e-mail saying that they are unable to refund me as I was well informed about the conditions. Again - I wasn't informed when I will be charged. I contacted them and asked to cancel because the free trial was ending and their technology did not work correctly. When they finally responded they told me they would not refund my money. It was a service that I explicitly said I would not use and they kept offering me more "free" things. I submitted a dispute with my credit card company which is still pending. Dear student,
Please accept our sincerest apologies. We regret the inconvenience caused to you.
I was offered a free service/product by the CEO, but when I selected it I was immediately charged. I have tried to receive a refund since April 30.
Shaw A Support sent me an email on April 28, 2020 encouraging me to continue my studies after my trial period expired. I was offered free time and a toolkit. I accepted. However, the instructions were not complete, so when I selected a free toolkit for the next pod, it immediately charged me. Shaw does not, like other companies, allow the option to change if one accidentally selected the option. I notified Support of the situation on April 29 indicating that it I had been charged and that it caused a negative effect on my bank account. I asked Support for a refund on April 30.
I contacted Billing on May 1 since Support did not respond. It replied the same day and issued me unique number #XXXXXXX. Later on May 1, it had contacted me and told me that it could not issue a refund since it provided me the toolkit, even though it was supposed to be free. I was offered three more toolkits, an e-certificate, and a hard copy. On May 2, I notified Billing in two emails that I rejected its offer, had already canceled my account, and was completing my studies with other companies. I also make the point that the toolkit was supposed to be free. I advised them that I would also be seeking fees to cover overdrafts in my financial account. Billing never contacted me again. On May 5, I asked for an additional $96 to cover the three overdraft fees on my account. I contacted Billing and Support on May 7 and asked for a response. I advised the company that I would go forth with additional actions if it did not respond by the end of the day. This was after I had called earlier that day. The number went to an answering service which said that the company was closed, to contact Support, and that Support would contact quickly for billing issues.
I have supporting emails for this complaint. They can be provided upon request, preferably via email.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking the $39.95 charge for the "free" toolkit, plus the $96 for the overdrafts that it caused. $135.95 is less than the $199 in product that I was offered.

Shaw Academy committed a heinous act by charging me for something that its leader offered to me for free, then wanted to fight with me about refunding my money. The rep(s) seemed not to understand that I was due a refund and instead kept offering more of their product even though I cancelled my account. They kept quoting policy, even after I gave them the emails and told them the product was supposed to be free. This occurred for almost an entire month. It took its time to respond after the Revdex.com contacted them. Finally, I was given a refund for the product, but not for the subsequent charges that occurred in my bank account, which I requested and would have provided proof of upon request. I am finally done with Shaw Academy and would not recommend it to anyone else.

Shaw ACADAMEY Stealing Money
The Shaw Academy terms and conditions, students can have a free trial period before subscribing to the paid membership. Cancelling the free trial before the period is over will mean no charges will be incurred. Accordingly I cancelled my free trial days before the trial period was over. I was not happy at all with the service! I was shocked at their harassment by phone, email and whatsapp, and I discovered terrible feedback and troubling experiences with their service from other students. I called on the phone and they would not pick up. They say you have to call on the phone to cancel but never pick up the phone. I had told the guy that I didn't want to have the membership anymore and he kept insisting for me to keep it. They charged me $59.99 and I had canceled. I want my money back. This is so disrespectful.
Desired Outcome
I want my money back. I had canceled and they still charged me. Like no that is not fair !!! Refund me my money.

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
I signed up for a 4 week online trial course with Shaw academy. The sign up could not happen without adding my bank details but they clearly said I would not be billed without signing up for the actual course of which I did not. They have billed me without my consent and outside of our agreement . I canceled before end of the 4 weeks. So I would like that they please return my money.
Product_Or_Service: Trial online course
Desired Outcome
Refund
I would like them to never contact me and to refund me in rands.

Hard Copy Diploma AED89.00 on May 8, 2020. I was not interested in starting over after 4 weeks of learning. I contacted Shaw, they told me they could not refund me the Aed 190.00 I had paid. Then they locked me out of class altogether (invoice attached). Currently I have no access to the class and have not received a refund

Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
May 1st, they charged me 69.99 and are refusing to refund it because even though I have proof of my account being cancelled they do not show it "cancelled" and they wont refund me because it's "already in their revenue".
would like my 69.99 refunded and for them to never charge me again

This is the email address I have been using all along to "resolve" my problem, to which I am unsatisfied. The method for contact is not adequate and simply reveals the lack of ability the business has to provide proper service to their customers.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I want to cancel my membership without any further charges before the 4 weeks have subsided.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
Thank you
I cancelled my subscription during the trial period but the Shaw Academy took £49.99 from my account anyway.
I am seeking the full amount of £49.99 to be refunded and no further monies to be taken from my account.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I signed up for a free trial and accidentally clicked on their "one click" purchase. It was NOT authorized. I want my money back. I also cancelled.
May 7th 2020. 8pm EST. I accidentally clicked on their "toolkit" One click purchase. I don't want the tool kit. Also did not authorize the purchase. I was charged $39.95 from my paypal account.

I would like a refund processed back to my account.

Dear Student,
Our support team has informed that your current membership period has been extended for 12 months and the issue is resolved.
Thank you
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I never use the service and I do not want the service that shot Academy provides I did not want an extra 12 months and I probably will not use it I would like my 59.99 back and to be reassured that I will not be charged again. I specifically asked him a month before I was charge to cancel the account and I got an email responding that it was. It was unethical to charge me. Below are screenshots of the emails I conversed with the support team I am not satisfied with 12 months of access to the service because I didn't have a use for it.

I want to be reimbursed. I also want my account to be deleted, with all my information from their database.
Dear Student,
Our support team has informed that your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Regards

I feel ashamed fo these people. They steal money to people and the only to get them to refund is by threatening them on Revdex.com. They need to pay for what they do.

I want my membership canceled with no charges.
Dear Student,
As per your request we had cancelled your subscription on 07-May-XXXX XX:XX
Thank you
I would like to cancel my subscription immediately without any extra charges.
I joined 7 days ago and I want to cancel my 30 day free trial but, it says to confirm it I need to call their number but nobody is picking up. I've tried 2-3 times on call and by email. All I want is to cancel my subscription immediately and not get charged anything as I havent purchased anything. I have prove of when I attempted to cancel my free trial so I want this sorted out. I am utterly disgusted by this companie's service they are really quick when taking your money, but as slow as possible when giving it back/cancelling your subscription. I Need It Sorted. Also, after you fully cancel my free trial and deactivate my account, make sure to please delete my information off your systems. Furthermore, I want nothing to do with the company after my request has been dealt with appropriately.
Thanks

I signed up for 4 week free trial membership but cancelled it on the very same day. A month later my account was debited with £45.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial membership but cancelled the trial on the same day for various reasons. I was in contact with Shaw Academy via email and they confirmed that my account had been cancelled and that no payments would be taken. However a month later on the 5th of May an amount of £45 was debited off of my account.
When I contacted them they informed my that I had not cancelled within the 4 week trial period even though I had forwarded them the original cancelation email exchange that clearly shows the confirmation of cancelation and exact date of cancelation.
They are refusing to refund the unauthorised amount that they took out of my account.
I would simply like the amount of £45 that was taken out of my account refunded and an assurance that no further payments will be taken.

I want my money back since I was charged without consent.

I signed up for a 4 week free trail course with SA but did not follow through with the course but money was still withdrawn from my account.
I saw a post by Shaw Academy on Instagram and was interested in their Excel course .. they offered a 4 week free trail so I signed up. I was accepted to do a different course with a different institution and I couldn't manage both so I decided to go with the other institution and I deleted my account with Shaw Academy .. I received a notification today May 8th,2020 from PayPal stating that USD$69.99 was paid to Shaw Academy ... I did not attend any of the classes and as I deleted my account I did not expect money to be pulled from my account ... I also received an email from them stating that as I dropped out I can reapply .. I did not wish to reapply. I was no longer interested in partaking in the class.
I would like to be refunded as I did not partake in any of the classes

I do not accept their response because I have receipts and statements to show that my account has been charged so I don't understand how they claim they have no record of the transaction. As stated before I have documents to show that my account has been debited .. the email address I am using now is the same email address I use for my paypal account as well as the same email address I used to sign up for the course ... you received the money because it is no longer in my account, the transaction has not failed nor have I been refunded. Nobody else has access to my accounts besides me ... the money was paid to you for a course that I did not do.
Dear Student,
Our support team has identified that you have another subscription which was not cancelled. The said amount was debited for the second account.
We have cancelled this subscription as well. Your refund has been processed. It will be credited back within 5-7 business days.

E-mails are in the attachment.
I am looking for a refund of what I was charged for, as I haven't used the service I paid for and wasn't notified that my trial period is expiring.
Dear Student,
Our support team has informed that your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I was charged for a service that I didn't use & attempted to cancel but Shaw Academy did not immediately respond to my request, then refused to cancel
I contacted them and asked to cancel because the free trial was ending and their technology did not work correctly. When they finally responded they told me they would not refund my money. It was a service that I explicitly said I would not use and they kept offering me more "free" things. I submitted a dispute with my credit card company which is still pending. They are preying on people during the pandemic and their customer service is terrible. I have been deeply effected by COVID-19 and every penny counts. Shame on this company for not doing the right thing.
I would like my money refunded.

Shaw Academy has had no progressive response to my complaint nor have they tried to find a solution. Thankfully my credit card company closed the dispute in my favor. Shaw Academy knew that the dispute was closed prior to them responding to this inquiry. Just another example of why their business is dishonest.
Dear student,
Please accept our sincerest apologies. We regret the inconvenience caused to you.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

I want my money back. I had canceled and they still charged me. Like no that is not fair !!! Refund me my money.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

Thank you
I signed up for a 4 week online trial course with Shaw academy. The sign up could not happen without adding my bank details but they clearly said I would not be billed without signing up for the actual course of which I did not. They have billed me without my consent and outside of our agreement . I canceled before end of the 4 weeks. So I would like that they please return my money.
