Everything that everyone wrote on here has happened to me. These people are absolute scam artists and I cannot believe that they are still in business. They are taking people's money!!! They took $69.99 of my money after I tried cancelling my free trial after only having it for 2 weeks. I emailed them asking why I was charged for a toolkit when I was only wanting to look at it. they answered me about that but ignored my request to cancel. so I emailed them over and over and over to cancel during the trial period only to be ignored. THIS WAS SO UNBELIEVABLE! I talked to several different people and forwarded every single email with it including the one that showed that I cancelled 2 weeks prior to the trial ending. only to be answered by each of the people but they would only write some *** not having to do with the cancellation. then they charged me the $69.99 and I still cannot believe that they absolutely WILL NOT refund my money because they say I didnt cancel before the end of the free trial. *** They are absolutely the worst company in the whole *** world and need to be put out of business. They are keeping my money and are trying to get me to accept their discount for future classes. Yea, right!
Shaw Academy did not send me an email warning me that my bill was due - as it says in their T&C's. They subsequently refused to give me a refund
I signed up for the free course but changed my mind and did not even finish completing my registration. Shaw Academy took it upon themselves to charge my debit card 49.99 regardless - and did not send me an email in advance of the payment warning me of the upcoming transaction as stated in their terms.

I signed up for a 30 day trial. They billed me before the 30 day trial finished and refuse to refund my money
I signed up for a 30 day photography free trial lesson. After inputting my credit card info I never received any sign up welcome email on how to start .Which I should have taken as a red flag and stopped the process there. As soon as I entered my payment information the page disappeared. I ended up googling the sight to get their actual url to be about to create my profile. The first email I received from them was on 4/6 my first class wasn't until 4/7 After creating a profile that's when I started to receive non stop emails from them promoting offers they provide that could help me with my photography. I was receiving 3+ emails a day at one point. One of the things the company promised was that a reminder email would be sent for cancellation to avoid being charged if I did not want to go through with the program after the trial so I purposely put up with the multiple spam emails to ensure that I received my reminder email in case my calendar reminder did not go off. About a week and a half before my trial I realized the emails had slowed down from the company. Which again raised a red flag but I was monitoring when my trial ended . The first couple of times I tried I kept getting a blank screen. then when I would get a screen to cancel I noticed that the company made you jump through loopholes to cancel your membership making you go through multiple pages beforehand actually allowing you to cancel and when you got to the final page to cancel it proceeded to tell you there was an issue and in order to cancel you had to contact a 1800 number..On 4/4/20 the company charged me 69.99 before my 30 day trial was even finished. They also went from sending me multiple product emails a day to nothing the week before my trial was to end. It was as if they wanted me to forget so they could bill me. I've requested a refund and they've advised me that no refund would be given due to their policy. But their policy is fraud!
Desired Outcome
I'm requesting a refund.

They charged my account on a Saturday stating I have to cancel Monday - Friday. There was no way to cancel prior to being charged. No responses ever.
I took a free class offered by Shaw Academy. My free subscription expired on a Saturday and they would charge my account $69.00 dollars on that Saturday - however to cancel you have to call Monday - Friday. There was no way to call on a Saturday to cancel. I requested the cancel on that Saturday via the web and they stated I had to call and cancel during the week. Once I called during the week it was still an automated recorded which required me to press "2" six times before allowing me to cancel my subscription. I was never able to speak with a person. To date there has been no response to my request for a refund. I will not take their classes. They advertise a free "class" and degree in one thing - they give you one course but you have to purchase 3 more to actually complete it. It is just MAJOR false advertising and a money pit. It is my opinion that they are not concerned about the learner but they are concerned about making money by deceiving the learner.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund for the $69.00 that was charged to my account.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund. They charged me again when I questioned the first charge.
I requested a cancellation of a free trial and on the day I requested a cancellation and received a confirmation email, they charged my credit card $60. I replied to that confirmation email requesting a refund as I cancelled their free services I received through tmobile tuesday reward and they charged me another $60 today. Definitely didn't purchase something else today.
Desired Outcome
I want to be refunded the now 120 dollars they have erroneously charged me.

I contacted their priority support and kept getting the same answer. They would not address the 2and charge and refused to refund either of the unauthorized $60 charges. They keep telling me they are giving me all the free classes for a year worth over $700 but will not refund me the $120 they took from me. My credit card company is investigating this as of today.

All I wanted was my subscription cancelled and issued a refund
Signed up for a trial with Shaw Academy and a purchase was made in error which I cancelled immediately and they refuse to process a refund.
I received a free trial from T-mobile for Shaw Academy that was soon ending and I wanted to look over the options for extending the service. A purchase was made in error when I clicked on the link to view an option that stated the service would be around $33.00 a month and it gave me a notice that the amount of $199.95 had been taken from my bank account. I checked my bank and the amount indeed had been removed so I immediately cancelled the charge and contacted support. They initially replied that I had cancelled in enough time and wouldn't be charged for the service. After another email followed claiming they had changed their decision and would no longer honor the refund and attempted to persuade me to keep the service. After messaging support back to back over the course of a few days they further stated I should just accept the membership continuing to avoid processing my refund.
Desired Outcome
I would like to have the full amount refunded back to me, I do not wish to be a returning customer.

Free trial cancelled but still charges. No confirmations recieved.
I signed up to a 4 week trial and cancelled on the 5th of May 2020 But was charged an amount which I never authorised. I never received confirmation for signing up and the terms in which I had done so. I also never received confirmation for cancelling.
The course is rubbish, I received 40 emails and 15 phone calls from numbers all over the world at obscene hours of the day for a UK resident and I would recommend nobody sign up with this company. There is no real people to talk to, everything is automated and mentally draining.
Desired Outcome
I would like the 49.99 to be refunded to me and all of my personal details removed from their system

Stay away from this service
Where to start. I first signed up thinking It would be free, then they went ahead and made some charges to my credit card. They retracted those, but when I called to try and cancel the first time, all I got was an answering machine. I tried to email them, but it wasn't in service.
I was finally able to get somewhat of a response from these people today. I got the answering machine again, claiming that they would cancel my membership after trying to give me "free stuff" I didn't want. Only problem is I haven't gotten a confirmation email and that doesn't fix the $69.99 charge to my card.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE. Would NOT recommend to a friend.
Desired Outcome
Plain and simple; all I want is a refund, my credit card information deleted from their files, and to NEVER hear from these people again.

I signed up for a free trial which I cancelled within the trial period but was still charged, despite having received confirmation of my cancellation.
I signed up to a course with Shaw Academy on April 3rd 2020. I signed up because they were offeriing a 4 week free trial. On April 4th 2020 I tried to access the course content. However, I do not have a very strong internet connection and was unable to reliably access the content. For this reason I cancelled my account. I received an email from Shaw Academy on April 4th 2020 confirming my account had been cancelled.
On 1st May 2020, I was charged the full amount for the course. I contacted Shaw Academy to ask why I had been charged when my account was cancelled and they replied and said I had not cancelled within the trial period. I cancelled 1 DAY into a 4 WEEK trial period. I requested a refund but they said it would not be possible to refund me.
I do not see how I am not due a refund for a product I was unable to use. I was offered a free trial by Shaw Academy and cancelled well within the trial period. I believe a trial period is to see if the product is suitable for you. In my case it was not due to my internet connection speed and so I cancelled. That is surely fair use of a trial period. I cancelled within 1 day of a 4 week trial.
I have been offered several extensions and other products by Shaw Academy in place of a refund. I am UNABLE to use their product so there is nothing they can offer me. All I want is to be refunded for the FREE trial they have charged me for.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund of the $69.99 I was charged for the course I cancelled well within the trial period.
Shaw Academy claims in their email that they use a free trial model and I quote from their correspondence to me, "This free trial model is similar to what the likes of Netflix, Spotify and all other subscription providers offer."
Netflix, Spotify and all other subscription providers DO NOT charge customers if they cancel within the trial period. I cancelled 1 DAY into a 4 WEEK trial period and have email confirmation from them that this is the case.

My payment was eventually refunded after numerous requests
On 3/27/20 I signed up for shaw academy for a free month trial. I canceled on 4/23/20. I was still charged even though I canceled my account.
On 3/27/20 I signed up for shaw academy for a free month trial. in doing so, I entered payment information to engage in the FREE MONTH TRIAL. after experiencing classes I realized I was no longer interested in continuing using their services and so I canceled my trial on the 28th day, 4/23/20. I was still charged $69.99 later that evening, even though I canceled my account. I have the phone records of when I called, as prompted, to cancel the account. the last recorded prompt on the phone was "press any key to cancel your account" after a barrage of sales pitches offered via phone, all of which I denied. when I got an email later that evening saying that my card was still charged I immediately emailed the company. they have offered a variety of free subscriptions, WHICH I AM NOT interested in, and say that there is nothing that they can do to REFUND my money. the only reason I should be charged would be if I was interested in continuing, which I am not, or if I missed the deadline to cancel, which I did not. THEREFORE I should never have been charged to begin with and the money which they have TAKEN from me, they should REFUND, AS PER THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS we agreed on in trying the FREE MONTH TRIAL. I look to the Revdex.com in order to assist me in this matter, and any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Desired Outcome
i am a frontline worker, money is tight and i was not anticipating having to pay shaw academy any money considering i canceled my free trial at the appropriate time. i want my $69.99 back. they had no right to take that money from me.
if you need further documentation i have screenshots etc that i can send to you.

Thank for following through with the agreed upon terms and conditions. Any student that looks to try this service be aware of their fine print and note that their "month" is 28 days.
Signed up for a free trial that I decided wasn't for me after the second use & submitted a request for cancellation before trial end date.
I signed up for a free 30 day trial of the Shaw Academy in late March/early April.
On April 9th I sent a request for cancellation because it wasn't for me.
Instead of canceling, Patrick (could be general use name tag) attempted to get me to keep on for the length of the free trial AND that he was giving me 6-month access "worth a lot of money free of charge as I only want to help" (quoted verbatim); I assume to delay the process, but I still wanted to cancel.
Seeing that the cancellation hadn't been processed, I sent another email on April 14 which received no response. Then I sent another email on April 24 which also did not receive a response. Then another on May 1 when I saw a charge on my account for $69.99 from Shaw Academy, which coincidentally enough was AFTER the free trial period, and finally garnered a response.
Now Patrick is telling me that a refund is impossible because I didn't submit the request before the trial period ended & because he wants to help knowing that everyone is affected by Covid-19 that the best he can do is give me access to program that's worth $699. "I have tried to come up with something further and the very best I can possibly do is to increase that to 12-months access worth $699 totally free of charge plus one complete course toolkit and e-certificates worth $199." ..."What I now request that you do is go into your account and select when you want to start back studying and lets achieve your goals." (quotes from email).
I believe that Shaw Academy is using predatory business practices by attracting consumers with a free trial then ignoring requests for cancellation until the free trial lapses in order to charge the full amount.
Shaw Academy refuses to issue a refund & continues to push products as a way to assuage my complaints.
Desired Outcome
A refund of the $69.99 charged to my account.

I signed up for a free trial. However they charged me before my trial was over.
I signed up for a free graphic design course. The terms were to cancel before my trial was over. I canceled my trial before it ended. My trial was set to end April 27th. However, not only did they ignore my cancelation, but I was charged $69.99 before my trial was even over. I was charged on April 24th, which was days before it ended. I reached out to them on multiple occasions. They said they could not refund me my amount, but they would give me a lifetime subscription to a certain service, which I didn't want. So I informed them again about how they wrongly charged me, and I send them the documentation to dispute the charge, showing them they charged me days before the trial was up. They eventually ignored my emails and refused to respond back.
Desired Outcome
I want to my full refund.

Cancelled subscription prior to 4 week trial ending, still charged fee and only receive generic responses.
Registered for a 4 week trial to sample for clients in my employment program, cancelled on April 17th, 4 weeks would have been April 24th. This same experience happened to my coworker. I was still charged even tho subscription was cancelled in time.
Cancelling is an absolute nightmare, starts with a link and then they give you a number to call which takes forever and then the code they tell you to refer to is not requested on call. Very shady seeming all in all.
I had 2 students registered and would have continued their learning with Shaw Academy but due to the way Shaw Academy operates, ethically unable to support.
Very unfortunate as I purchase online learning for my clients and at this time online learning is much needed.
Desired Outcome
In addition to a refund, I would like to see the company change the way they provide services to customers. It is very stressful to feel like you can't reach anyone and they have access to your credit card. Appears to have good content why not have an ethical business model? Apology would be appreciated. Spending time worrying and stressing about this was certainly not appreciated.

I enrolled in a 4 week free online English course with Shaw Academy. Thank you so much,I received my money back.
Tried to cancel before the end of 4 wk trial, told to call to cancel did not work. Emailed support to cancel & they charged me and won't give refund.
Signed up for a 4 week trial. Tried to cancel on the last day (may 2 at 4:30pm), but the instructions told me to call a phone number in Canada which was not valid *** - this is not the proper form for a Canadian telephone number). No other way to connect with them but to email support. Emailed support to cancel my trial (which was ending in 6 hours) and they did not get to me for 2 days (May 4). By this time, I was charged for a months membership. Patrick replied and said he cancelled my membership, but that he could not offer me a refund as it was past my 4 week trial date. I replied back to him stating that I did try and cancel before my expiry but that the phone number was inaccurate and that he has my email as proof that I wanted to cancel my trial in time. He then proceeded to tell me the benefits of Shaw Academy. To which my reply was that I would like a refund, that I did try and cancel on time and that they should honor the date/ time that I sent the email to cancel. He refused. I have asked to speak to a manager, but Patrick continues to try and give me further access to SHaw Academy's courses. He has now offered me 6 months access. I told him that I do not want further access, I just want a refund. To which I have not received a response. I have also asked to further speak to a manager, of which my request has not been received.

I got a free trial, opened the class once and immediately didn't like it. so I immediately cancelled. The task to cancel online made me confirm on the phone but was really another cancelling process which then told me to confirm online. I had an email saying "yes you are cancelled". 3 days after signing up for a trial, I emailed support asking to cancel my membership. I received confirmation. And yet, 3 weeks later I was billed.
I signed up for a free trial of Shaw Academy on April 2, 2020.
On April 6th I tried to cancel my account online, and followed the directions to cancel over the phone. (Please note that the cancellation process both online and over the phone require a minimum of 5 prompts. This is a very aggressive form of trying to confuse or manipulate their customers. Many red flags popped up in my mind)
At the end of the call, there was no confirmation, so I was concerned. I emailed support, asking to cancel.
On April 6th I received a response saying "Your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled. it will be reflected within 24 hours in your account."
On April 30th I was charged $69.99.
In addition to my confusion, there is, I believe, a legal issue here. If you refer to the screenshot, it clearly states that I would be reminded 3 days before being charged. I did not receive an email stating that. I only received a promotional email that day, telling me to "Preorder your eCert to unlock your final assignment for only $39.95 !" This is a clear breach of the terms I agreed to.
On April 30th, I emailed support asking for a refund and why the earlier cancel. He responded on May 3 ".... have personally reviewed your account and found that you had subscribed using your debit/credit card/payment method and availed of a 4-week free trial after which payment would be made... Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership....In terms of processing a refund, unfortunately, this is not something we can do as the free trial was made available to you as per the terms and conditions you agreed to upon registration and the revenue has been recognized as per our revenue recognition policies.... The first thing I have taken the liberty of doing is to confirm your membership is cancelled..."
Note that he did not address the fact that I have written email confirmation that the account should have been cancelled before being charged.
I have since emailed several more times with no response. If I had forgotten to cancel, that's one thing, but I clearly asked to be cancelled only 3 days after signing up, because it was clearly not a platform I wanted to use, and I DID receive confirmation.
And now, even after receiving 2 emails confirming that my account should be cancelled, the account profile is STILL active.
I'm very displeased with this company, and I advise anyone else to think twice before using a "free" trial.
I just want to cancel my account and receive a refund.
Desired Outcome
I would please like the $69.99 refunded to my paypal account.

I'm requesting a refund.
Dear Student,

I am seeking a refund for the $69.00 that was charged to my account.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I want to be refunded the now 120 dollars they have erroneously charged me.
Dear student,
Your subscription was not cancelled before the end of the trial and hence was charged.
Please contact our priority support team directly at ***@shawacademy.com for refund related assistance.
Thank you
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you

I would like the 49.99 to be refunded to me and all of my personal details removed from their system
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
Stay away from this service

I am seeking a refund of the $69.99 I was charged for the course I cancelled well within the trial period. Shaw Academy claims in their email that they use a free trial model and I quote from their correspondence to me, "This free trial model is similar to what the likes of Netflix, Spotify and all other subscription providers offer." Netflix, Spotify and all other subscription providers DO NOT charge customers if they cancel within the trial period.

I look to the Revdex.com in order to assist me in this matter, and any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
i am a frontline worker, money is tight and i was not anticipating having to pay shaw academy any money considering i canceled my free trial at the appropriate time. i want my $69.99 back. they had no right to take that money from me. if you need further documentation i have screenshots etc that i can send to you.

Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

The Company charged for an English course that supposed to be free for 4 weeks and refuses to refund.
I enrolled in a 4 week free online English course with Shaw Academy. I was informed that as long as I cancel within 4 weeks that I would not be charged any money, however, even though I cancelled on the company's website on the 28th day (signed up on March 11, 2020 and cancelled on April 8, 2020) and received a confirmation email of my cancellation I was charged $59.99 on my paypal account anyways and now the company refuses to refund the charge to my account.
I would like to ask the Revdex.com whether it is able to assist me to recover my refund.

I would just like Shaw Academy to refund me for the month charges that they charged me.

After emailing to cancel my subscription and having Shaw Academy respond to confirm the subscription was cancelled I had £49.99 taken from my account
The issue occurred on 4th May 2020 via PayPal - £49.99
I would like a refund

I have been trying to cancel my account for weeks in advance to being charged, with zero response from Shaw Academy. They then charged my visa
I enrolled for a free trial. Never had access to the course as it said my account did not exist. I sent numerous emails (April 30 and May 1) after calling their phone line multiple times only to never be connected to a person. The emails stated to cancel my Visa before the free trail expired. I had zero response. My Visa was then charged 69.99 on May 4.
I want a refund and my card cancelled

I got a free trail, cancelled on time, and was still charged.
I got a free trial, opened the class once and immediately didn't like it. so I immediately cancelled. The task to cancel online made me confirm on the phone but was really another cancelling process which then told me to confirm online. I had an email saying "yes you are cancelled". Four weeks later I'm charged for "not cancelling on time".
I received my free trail on April 4, 2020 and received my cancellation email April 8, 2020. On May 2, 2020 my card was charged. When I emailed them, they told me multiple things which all basically said I can't get a refund, eventhough I cancelled BEFORE my free trial was over!
I simply want a refund of $69.99.

They are saying they will refund. I accept.
Unauthorized charge to my credit card. I enrolled in a four week free trial for which I cancelled in the allotted time.
Unauthorized charge to my credit card. I enrolled in a four week free trial for which I cancelled in the allotted time using the phone number provided by the company. My account is actually inactive but I was still charged $69.99 to my credit card. I emailed their customer service address with this complaint and their billing department got back to me saying the following: "Now in terms of your account, I have personally reviewed your account and found that you had subscribed using your debit/credit card/payment method and availed of a 4-week free trial after which payment would be made. All aspects of this were made clear at registration, within your member's area and via communications. Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership. Click Here to review the same in particular section 4 and 5."
I would be satisfied if they refunded my $69.99 to my credit card and canceled my membership completely.

I would please like the $69.99 refunded to my paypal account.
