I had a 4 week free trial and cancelled before I should have been charged. I was charged and can't get a response from the company about a refund.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial and made sure to set a calendar event to cancel my account before I would be charged. I cancelled my subscription on time, but I was still charged. Not only that, I was charged $69.99 instead of the advertised $34.99. I've tried calling and emailing them several times, but am not getting a response. I've been laid off because of Corona and can't even afford rent and other expenses. I guess I'll skip eating for a while since this dishonest company likes to steal from people.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund of my $69.99 and want the company to delete my credit card information from their file because they are dishonest and will probably continue to charge me.

False advertisement. Agreed to £19.99 a month to continue my course and charged £199.95 on the spot without permission.
I was coming into my third week of my free 4 week trial for a diploma In graphic design with shaw academy. I was prompted at this stage that I could not go any further with watching videos/attending classes unless I signed subscribed for a membership. The membership I opted for was £19.99 a month whereby I could continue to watch my videos and attend classes. However, Shaw Academy charged £199.95 out of my Paypal account which was never agreed to nor listed clearly anywhere in any advertisement. I cancelled my membership prompting for this money to be returned to me as this is not what I agreed to pay..
Once I had cancelled my membership I was promised free membership, free certificates etc but no mention of a refund. Considering that I had not even finished my four week "free trial" and I was told I could not continue without making payment. I would like to see this resolved and a full refund repaid to me as I am truely disappointed with the service and gutted I will not be continuing with this diploma.
Relevant dates below:
03/04/2020- signed up for the course
22/04/2020- prompted to sign up for £19.99 a month lessons. £199.95 taken from PayPal account
27/04/2020- cancellation confirmation
Desired Outcome
I would appreciate a full refund for the £199.95 that was charged to my account. I have not attended a single lesson since and have avoided even going on their app thus to avoid any further costs. I cancelled within the time frame and due to false advertisement I would appreciate all of my money back not just "free access".

Charged me subscription fee despite cancellation. Refused refund and ceased replying to emails. Seems like a scam.
I emailed Shaw Academy well within the trial period to cancel my free trial and subscription as the course wasn't quite what I was looking for and they were bombarding me with unwanted emails, texts and phone calls. They did not respond to this initial email and then charged me a £49.99 subscription fee anyway.
When I contacted them they replied with a generic email refusing a refund and have not responded to any further correspondence.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund immediately.

Falsely charging for cancelled subscription
I took a trail of Shaw academy and cancelled it within 2 days but still they charged me for a month to which I emailed them regarding my concerns and they offered me a free 6 months subscription.
But even after that they continued to charge me even today I was charged for current month even thou I had an email send last month and them offering 6 months free service.
Desired Outcome
I need a refund for current month and cancel my subscription which i did not opt for in any means

I was not able to cancel my free trial before the time because they made it impossible to do and charged me before my free trail period.
On April 3rd I followed their sponsored offer on facebook offering a free trial in web developpment, on which I signed up because of the virus situation to learn something. Throughout this month the company was very persistant to sell stuff and always send me communications for new promotions which I never took and found a bit aggressive marketing. The 30th of April I decided to cancel it before the free trail ends. I had 2 days left of free trial that was written on their website.. although I do not know how they perceive a month because it should have been through may 2nd or 3rd since I enrolled on April 3rd. Nonetheless, on April 30 I never was able to cancel it through the multiple windows of confirmation and trying to sell me other stuff; at the final tab of cancellation they told me to call to a number with my student number which I did, but the phone number was not working at all. So I decided to try de day after since I had 2 more days as their website says. Still doesn't work. Then I sent them an e-mail on may 1st as there was 1 day left in free trail that was wrote on my profil on their site and they returned me an answer saying that the e-mail adress from which I sent the message wasn't the one on my account. So I sent 2 new e-mails; one with my paypal e-mail on which they took a payment of 69.99$ on may1st for them to find my account and another one replying to the previous with my full name, phone number and paypal receipt as they asked me, and from there I always received the same answer from Shaw Academy saying that they can't find my account ... I took screenshots of my paypal summary account and also from my profile on Shaw Academy's platform showing that the e-mail adress I used for signing up is ***@gmail.com ... so a bot is always replying me the same thing since yesterday at every message I am sending them that they don't find my account .. and they charged me the full amount of 69.99$ yesterday, which I want to be refunded because I was in my right to cancel it freely in my free trial.
Desired Outcome
I wish to receive a full refund of the amount they charged me a total cancellation of my account since I can't do it from their website and I am not able to talk to anyone and they blame it on the Covid-19 in their e-mails and saying that my e-mail adress not linked to any account.. I want a full refund and my account to be cancel since I had the right to cancel it before the free month, which was not even a total free month so they are publicly sending false marketing.

I was overcharged and want a refund
I signed up for a free trial course on digital marketing on the 12th of April, 2020. I tried to cancel my membership about 2 weeks before the trial ended but I was offered a 3-month membership at a discounted rate of NGN 2,750 a month. This felt like a good deal to me especially because I thought I would be charged monthly. But on the 1st of May, I discovered that I had been debited NGN 13,900 which is way above what I was offered even if I had to be charged at once. I have sent mails and still haven't gotten a favourable response. I am terribly disappointed because I feel like I have been scammed. I am requesting for a refund of my money or at least the excess of NGN 5,650.
Desired Outcome
I am requesting for a refund of the excess amount charged for a 3 month subscription bearing in mind that it was offered at NGN 2,750 monthly.

I am having Trouble Canceling my free Trial
I signed up for the 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy on 5/1/2020 after reading into the reviews I decided to cancel the subscription. There website has me answering a bunch of silly questions, then spits out a phone number (XXXXXXXXXXX) and a student number (XXXXX) and tells you to call the number to cancel. The number, the number I was given could not even be completed as dialed. trust me I made sure to copy the number right and this was what I was given. This company does not have a customer support center so I had to email them and then received automated response. Internet reviews about this company are apparently unanimous that they take your Credit Card Info and then charge your card against your permission. I do not think its fair for me to be charged for classes that I haven't even started.
Desired Outcome
I would like to be assured that my subscription has been canceled and that I will not be charged at all by the Shaw Academy company as I have canceled my subscription well before the free trial had ended.

Charged for a subscription after I requested for my account to be cancelled.
On April 1st I subscribed to Shaw Academy. I was offered a free trial and then I would be charged after the free trial ends if I didnt cancel.
That same day I realized they charged my card via paypal, so I sent them an email immediately asking for a refund and to cancel my subscription. I was refunded immediately, as a result I thought my subscription was cancelled. I could not find anywhere on the website to cancel and there was no number to call, hence the email was sent.
On April 29 they charged me another 69.99. I immediately emailed them again and requested a refund and advised them that I did not have any subscriptions with them. I don't even use the free trial, I have not even started any course and will not be doing. Someone responded to.me 3 days after and told me that I could not get a refund.
I.explained to them over and over that I had ask for them to cancel my account, I even sent them the emails. They still refuse to refund me.
Desired Outcome
I would like to be refunded my 69.99

There is no way to cancel your membership. I followed the instructions and it leads you to a number to call that says to call 911. I have been charged
After signing up for a free trial, I have tried several times to cancel my subscription. I follow all the instructions on the website where I clicked through tons of pages confirming my cancellation and then told I have to call a number to confirm my cancellation. When I call the number it is an automated voice machine that says if this is an emergency, call 911. I was charged 70 dollars for the membership and am now working with my bank to try to get a refund and cancel my card. This charge was on May 3rd to my debit card which I entered to get the free trial.

I have attempted to cancel the free trial via the website. I was told I had to phone to cancel. The phone number given is not a working number.
The company says you can cancel at any time. There are prompts on the website to allegedly cancel the subscription. However there is a "subset of students" that have to phone in in order to cancel. The phone number is an incorrect phone number and does not work. Making it impossible for me to cancel my subscription. This is a scam

I signed up for a free trial in April, then requested to cancel it a few days later, now a month later, they charge me.
The first week of April, I signed up for Shaw Academy's one month free trial. On the 6th, I decided the service was not for me, and proceeded to go through the process of cancelling the free trial and renewing membership that goes along with it. The way they tell you in the support to go about it is to navigate to your account under "memberships" and request cancellation by following the prompts - which there were many many of saying "are you sure? Here's a discount. Are you positive you want to cancel? After declining absolutely everything, they then prompted me to call to cancel. So I tried to call the number they provided me with on the screen. That number was disconnected. So I then sent out several emails to customer support explaining that I needed to have this membership cancelled - here it is a month later, I never got a reply to either email. I finally was able to locate a phone number from a general google search that allowed me to speak to a customer service rep, who told me that he would cancel the membership - after a severe amount of assuring him that I did in fact want to cancel. This all took place on the 6th. I promptly uninstalled the app after the call and thought I was good to go.
Now here it is a month later, and I just got an invoice from PayPal stating that they charged me the astronomical amount of $70 for something that I deliberately said that I did not want multiple times and in multiple different methods.
I emailed their customer support and their billing department this time, but I'm not holding my breath given that I'm still waiting to hear back from them the first time via email. I logged into the website again and low and behold it says my membership is still active. I, again, try to go through the "unsubscribe" online questionnaire, but this time it gives me an even more bogus number than the first time. (Screenshot attached)
I need (and deserve) a full refund to make this right. I'm being charged for a service I never used and never agreed to and honestly told them I did not want.
Desired Outcome
A full and prompt refund and the full deletion of my Shaw Academy Account would make me satisfied.
And in the future for the next people who sign up, make sure they are able to cancel their membership and at least provide proper working numbers.

I signed up for a 4 week trail, the service was never accessed because it didn't operate correctly. Service was cancelled and charged 69.99.
I originally signed up for a 4 week trail and had to include payment info. I cancelled online on the 28th. However, the company required additional step to cancel this service and so I contacted XXX-XXX-XXXX on the 28th which was Shaw Academy to farther process the cancellation that was initiated on the 28th through their website. The company had charged $69.99 at that time. I sent an email on the 28th to Shaw Academy and to the paypal email address on record. The email included the paypal transaction information and request for refund of 69.99 due to cancellation. I never utilized the service, when I attempted to access the course the pages never fully loaded or froze. This was also explained in the email. I Shaw academy responded to the email from the 28th claiming that it was a card validation fee and it would be refunded. I replied on the 28th explaining that same thing and that the 69.99 was not the card fee. They finally responded on the 2nd of May, to summarize that they will provide "6 months access totally free of charge worth $399" and no refund will be provided. I replied this same date, once again seeking a refund of 69.99. I do not wish to utilize their service due to their practices. I cancelled at 4 weeks, I was not even able to access their course because of their issues, you can not contact a customer service rep directly and they make you go through several steps to cancel. There are several complaints on Revdex.com, Google Review and other forums concerning their billing practices and customer service issues.
Desired Outcome
I would like the $69.99 refunded, please.

Unauthorised payment of £49.99 taken from my bank account after cancellation of one-month free membership one week after sign-up.
I took out a free one month membership with Shaw Academy, as advertised on their Instragram page. One week later I decided it was not for me and wanted to cancel my membership. I was fed-up of being continually harassed by phone, email and WhatsApp. I also came across appalling feedback and numerous similarly troubling reviews and experiences with their service from other unsuspecting people.
Shaw Academy terms and conditions state students can have a free trial period before subscribing to paid membership. Cancelling the free trial before the period is over will mean no charges will be incurred. Accordingly I cancelled my free trial on 7 April - less than one week after it began.
I visited their website where it said to call a phone number to cancel. I called the number and it sent me around in circle for more than 15 minutes before I finally got to the end of long-winded prerecorded message full of incentives designed to make you stay, only to be told to email ***@shawacademy.com to cancel my membership. I did so, only to find the email address did not exist and my email bounced back.
Shortly afterwards I emailed ***@shawacademy.com to help. I received an email informing me my account would be cancelled in a few days and that I could access my account until the end of the free trial period. These emails were given the ticket reference number of #XXXXXXX.
So you can imagine my horror when, a few days ago, I checked my bank account to find Shaw Acadmey have taken an unauthorised payment of £49.99 from my bank account - despite their staff telling me on 7 April my membership was cancelled and no payment would be taken.
I emailed ***@shawacademy.com to find out why this was and was told that I did not get in touch to cancel my membership, and as the terms and conditions of the free trail state, payment would be taken when it came to an end - however, I have emails to prove I did. This seems to be a generic email sent to anyone they take an unauthorised payment from and was not specific or relevant to my situation. In the email, they clearly state they are not going to give me a refund and put the blame on me for not cancelling before the end of my trail period - even though I have proof I did.
I have proof of the cancellation emails I sent on 7 April and have sent screenshots to their customer service team. My request to cancel was logged under the ticket number #XXXXXXX - Shaw Academy can check this in their system.
Please refund the £49.99 taken without authorisation.
Kind regards
Desired Outcome
I want the £49.99 taken without authorisation from my account refunded. Should this not happen I will have the unauthorised payment investigated with my bank, who have already told me they will investigate and dispute the transaction.

Signed up a "free" one month trial, however, my credit card was charged $1,and $69.99 within 24 hours. Content presented was antiquated & irrelevant.
I signed up for a free one month trial of Shaw Academy's social media marketing course on April 26, 2020,8:14 pm MST. In order to receive my free one month trial I needed to enter my credit card information, which I did as I saw Shaw Academy as a responsible and honorable online vendor. I took my first online class the following morning (April 27, 2020, 9:00 am) and within the first five minutes it was grossly apparent that the material being taught was from 2016. The content is antiquated and is not relevance to social media marketing practices in 2020, there is nothing of tangible value and a four year old course has no place in a rapidly changing and dynamic marketplace. Quite frankly, there is much better content with higher production value readily available on YouTube that I have already seen and learned from. I decided to cancel the membership immediately as there was no value in the course, and as a safeguard I also checked my Visa online transaction history to find Shaw Academy had made TWO charges within the previous fourteen hours, one was for $1.00 and the other for $69.99. I sent an email to Shaw Academy on April 27th at 9:22 am requesting a cancellation of my account (number XXXXX) and refund of the charges to my Visa. I received an automated email response at 9:22 am stating that Shaw Academy would get back to me, which to their credit they did at 3:11 pm. I was concerned that the email I received stated "Your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled. It will be reflected within 24 in your account" I found the use of the word "account" to be nebulous in that it did not state it was my Visa credit card account. I decided to wait to see if Shaw Academy would issue a refund and I received an email on April 29, 2020 at 2:51 am from Marcas (see attached: "ShawNotCharged" email) that stated "As per your request , we have now cancelled your membership. Please be assured that you will not be charged for your membership until you reactivate." I followed up with Shaw Academy and wrote a lengthy email where I outlined my concerns about the content, not receiving a refund, possible solutions to the situation, and the actions I would take if they chose not to honor their free trial. After which I started to receive boiler plate email responses offering discounted courses and additional membership offers. This created apprehension because Shaw Academy obviously has situations like this arise with enough frequency that they have a very polished method of handling complaints and offering lots of freebies and highly discounted products. If the initial offering offered value Shaw Academy would not need to deploy such tactics, but if I did take other courses I suspect they would lack the relevancy of the course I initially signed up for. If one course is mediocre and offering very little/nothing relevant than it's probably safe to say that all of the other courses will follow suit. The back and forth continued and Shaw Academy chose to hide behind their terms and conditions of their offer and quote the small print and tell me they had already accounted for my payment in their accounts receivable, like it really matters to me? I grew tired of the run-around and cut and paste mails I received from Marcas at Shaw Academy so in my last email I clearly stated my disappointment, told them not to make any additional charges on my card, and wished them well as it was obvious they had no intention of refunding me the fee for a one month free membership of which I used five minutes to determine I did not want their product. It should be noted that I have taken courses from other institutions and I gladly pay for quality educational materials. This is not a matter of $69.99 because I've lost money with the time I've wasted with Shaw Academy, I do not appreciate being taken advantage of by operators who sell products or services that offer no tangible value. There's no problems when you sell something of value.
Desired Outcome
I want my money back

I followed up with Shaw Academy and the refund was not provided as promised. Shaw Academy gives a 5-7 day window for customers to receive a refund to try and "run the clock" on the promises they made to the Revdex.com. Despite Shaw Academy's outside assurances that I would receive a refund prior to today, I have not received a refund. What is wrong with Shaw Academy? If you make a commitment, follow through! If you don't plan on doing what you promised to do then don't waste everyone's time. It's no longer about the $69.99 that Shaw Academy took without authorization (as demonstrated by an email that I received from Shaw Academy that clearly stated that they would not charge my card) it's about being true to your word. I appreciate the effort that the Revdex.com has made on my behalf and I take comfort in knowing that I am not the only person to have these types of issues with this business. I purchase lots of online books, courses, and seminars as I enjoy reading and learning. If Shaw Academy had provided even a small measure of material that was the least bit useful I wouldn't complain (I probably wouldn't continue with a membership) but I would not complain. People want to learn new skills and are willing to pay to learn new things and acquire more skills, but the courses offered by this business are old and worthless. Again, if you don't want to give a refund like you promised then just don't say it. In hindsight, I'm embarrassed to say that I gave this business any personal info and actually believed they would honor their offer of a free month and further honor their promise of a refund when their courses turned out to be tired, old and antiquated material from many years past. I don't want Shaw Academy's offers of six months free membership because I don't trust them. Now I have to waste more of my time to ensure my credit card provider blocks any future attempts that Shaw Academy may make at taking more unauthorized payments. However, my credit company did state that if my Revdex.com complaint did not yield a result they will pursue the matter as I have an email that clearly states that Shaw Academy assured me that no payment would be charged when, in fact, it had been. If Shaw Academy had good resources and people could actually gain a skill or knowledge they wouldn't have these problems and they would be respected in the community they purport to serve and care for. I'm going to get my $69.99 back, but I was truly hoping I wouldn't have to do more given the promises that were made to me.

Cancelled free-trial 1 week into the 4 weeks and I was still charged and told that I never cancelled, but I have the email proof of me cancelling.
I started a 4-week free trial with Shaw Academy on March 30th, 2020. I sent an email to cancel my account on April 9th, 2020 and received an email back from them stating that they cancelled the account, they were sorry to see me go and offered 2 free months. I didn't interact with the website at all and I was billed through my PayPal account on April 27th, 2020 in the amount of $34.99. I emailed Shaw Academy and explained to them the situation and let them know that I have the email stating that they closed the account on April 9th, 2020. They said I never cancelled the account and that I could not receive a refund. I emailed them back once again with the forwarded emails. I received an email back stating that their terms and conditions state that there are subsequent payments related to it. This is false advertising if I am being billed for a free trial that I did not finish. Also, I logged in today to try to remove my payment information so they will not continue to victimize me and perform fraudulent activities with my account, and I was unable to.
Free-Trial date= March 30, 2020
Email Date when the cancelled the free-trial= April 9, 2020
Billed on-April 27, 2020
Purchase amount=$34.99
Emailed for refund on with screenshot of email proof= April 27, 2020
Response from Shaw Academy stating that I never cancelled my account=April 28, 2020
Emailed to let them know I would be seeking legal assistance= April 30, 2020
Received email From Shaw Academy from Parnel Stating that I was't eligible for refund because I agreed to the terms & conditions of having my card charged by them= May 1, 2020
Payment Method=PayPal
Desired Outcome
I would like my money back and for my billing information to be removed from their company's files.

Dear Student,
Our support team has informed that your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
I had a 4 week free trial and cancelled before I should have been charged.

I need a refund for current month and cancel my subscription which i did not opt for in any means
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I would like to be assured that my subscription has been canceled and that I will not be charged at all by the Shaw Academy company as I have canceled my subscription well before the free trial had ended.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 06-May-XXXX XX:XX. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I would like to be refunded my 69.99

Got my full refund
I am seeking the business to refund the 70 dollars they charged me and cancelling my membership.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Cancel my subscription and do not take any funds from my payment method.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I signed up for a free trial and when I called to cancel, I was told that my money would not be refunded. This is unacceptable
I signed up for a 4-week free trial, in which I never utilized. I selected a particular card with my PayPal for authorized payments however another card was used to debit my account.
I contacted shaw academy on 4/20 via email...I was informed that my payment would not be refunded although an unauthorized card was utilized for the transaction. This company is using predatory tactics which is totally turning me off from ever wanting to do business with them. Refund my money acct #XXXXXXX

The company charged me 279.95 cad without my approval or permission and now they are not offering any refund or not replying back for my issue inquiry
To whom it may concern
Shaw academy charges me 279.95 cad without my approval or permission from my credit card account and didnt deliver the service they promise for, now when I want my refund they are not answering the calls or replying my emails. They are not ready to listen to my complaint now when they are charging from my account without any prior notice and they are delivering us the right services. They haven't send any receipt to me and now we are not able to change our payment details from our billing profile in their mobile app. I am not happy with their services, and I dont their services in the future as well.
I want this business to refund my money back and contact me so that i can talk to representative regarding the courses i am learning right now.

A full and prompt refund and the full deletion of my Shaw Academy Account would make me satisfied. And in the future for the next people who sign up, make sure they are able to cancel their membership and at least provide proper working numbers.

Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Many thanks to Revdex.com.
That was the response I have expected. I accept it.

I want the £49.99 taken without authorisation from my account refunded. Should this not happen I will have the unauthorised payment investigated with my bank, who have already told me they will investigate and dispute the transaction.

Unauthorised payment on card after cancelling free trial.
I signed up for a free month trial for this company on the 30th of May this year. After trying to cancel the free membership through the website, there is no way to cancel via the website and it tells you to call them however they are unreachable over the phone system. I emailed and received confirmation on the 6th of April that my account would was cancelled however on the 26th of April I was charged an unauthorised payment of $69.99. This company is almost impossible to get in contact with and I would like this payment refunded and made sure no charges are made.
Thanks
A refund of the unauthorised payment and making sure no other payments are made to my account.
