Charges were made on my card early, without warning, and unapproved. After being in contact over email, they are brushing off the refunds needed.
My card was recently charged $69.99 on 4/22/20 for a premium membership that I did not want. There was no warning that my card was going to be charged. The monthly subscription was not set to renew until the 26th. So, I was charged without warning, early, and without my approval. I canceled my subscription within the 1 month window, so I should not have been charged for another month. I've also been charged twice ($39.95 both times) for an e-certificate which I did NOT want. So, at this point I need $69.99 + $39.95 + $39.95 refunded to my account. Through email I was offered a free hard copy diploma and shouldn't have been charged for 2 e-certificates. I was also told that my final assignment was released, but not that I would be charged to complete it. That is completely unacceptable. Instead of actually addressing my issue personally, they sent me the same computer generated emails they've sent several other people and refused to address that refunds were actually needed to be given. Instead they denied my refund request, ignored charges, and tried to keep me with their program by offering discounts after I specifically told them multiple times that I did not and would not be continuing with them at all.

Desired Outcome

I am wanting Shaw Academy LLC to have the $69.99 + $39.95 + $39.95 charges refunded to my card. I am not accepting any discounts to further taking courses with them.

Shaw Academy charged for subscription despite multiple attempts at cancelling the subscription prior to the end of the trial period.
The free trial period for my Shaw Academy subscription was the afternoon of April 28, 2020.

There are two issues associated with this complaint. The first, I tried to process the cancellation prior to the lapse of 4 weeks. I filed the cancellation on April 25, 2020, and after going through the whole process online it told me that I had to call a number (XXX-XXX-XXXX) during office hours in order to cancel my subscription. Unfortunately, I was working non-stop from 7AM on Monday till 1:30AM Tuesday and was unable to call that number on Monday. However, I called the number Tuesday morning (prior to the end of the free subscription period) and went through the whole phone recording and at the end it the recording said that I was successful in cancelling my account and it hung up automatically. I went to check online, and it still said I had 1 day remaining on my free trial period. However, later that afternoon, I was charged the premium subscription price. I was incorrectly charged this amount as I had applied for the cancellation online and followed the instructions for cancellation PRIOR to the lapse of the 4 week trial period. I reached out to Shaw Academy, and they replied with a generic email saying that they will charge the price of the subscription at the end of the 4 week free period and that they have now cancelled my subscription so that there are no further charges. But did not address my specific complaint. I sent them a reply detailing my complaint, but they replied with the exact same generic email.

The second issue I would like to point out is that when I tried to cancel online on Friday last week there was a message that asked me to hold off cancelling as they will send an email 1 day prior to the lapse of the free trial period as a reminder, which was never sent. This contains an element of further dishonesty because there was no mention of the added step of needing to call the phone number during working ours in order to finalize the cancellation, making it more difficult to process the cancellation in due time if given short notice. It was a good thing I process the cancellation on Saturday rather than wait for their reminder email, which never came. However, this highlights the companies dishonest business tactic.

Desired Outcome

I would like to receive a full refund of $69.99 CAD which was incorrectly charged to my credit card, as I cancelled the subscription prior to the lapse of the 4 week free trial period.

Aggressive advertising and one click purchase leading to unintended purchases
Hi Revdex.com,

I would to request for a full refund from Shaw Academy on a purchase that I did not intend to make and how it happened and even if I do not get a refund I would like to use this opportunity to inform others of the aggressive advertising/one click purchase/marketing tactics that is used by this company and how it can affect others.

Like many, I saw the one month free trial from Shaw Academy on social media and saw it as a good opportunity to try it out, or so I thought.

I had to input a payment method when joining Shaw Academy to access the free trial which is fine, like many other companies who request for the same information when first joining.

The first thing I noticed was that there was a pop up stating 'module toolkit one click purchase for £39.95' and this pop up would show up almost every time the page refreshed. I was trying to access the assignments tab when the pop up appeared again over the tab I was trying to select. So instead of pressing the assignments tab as I intended, I pressed the pop up and as it was a one click purchase, it charged me instantly and I did not even have an option to cancel or go back.

I have contacted the company requesting for a refund but I have not yet heard back.

I have now cancelled the free trial/membership through the phone (as this appears to be the only way to cancel the membership) and in the call it states that they send an email to confirm the cancellation again but I never received an email. I have seen other reviews in the same situation and they have been charged even though they cancelled on the phone and I hope I will not be charged as I have cancelled the membership.

I think Shaw Academy offers good content but the advertising and one click purchase popping up all the time over the tabs and content makes me think that the same thing that happened to me can happen to others.

I would like to request for a full refund of £39.95 as I did not intend to purchase toolkit and pressed the one click purchase when it appeared over the tab I was intending to press and it is not a small amount of money and I hope that this will not happen to others.

Please can you get them to reach out to me at my email or student number shown in the image attached and the attached is proof of the membership cancellation for my account.

Cant cancel my free trail.
I signed up for a free trail with Shaw Academy. Set a reminder to cancel before trail was up if it wasn't what I was looking for.
On the same day as signing up I came across information that Shaw Academy was a scam! I Immediately tried to cancel my free subscription. After a long process of trying to cancel I was asked to contact them on the number provided and quote a student number show on the screen to confirm the cancellation. I have called this number numerous times with no answer. I have emailed several times also only to be ignored.
I had to inform and cancel with PayPal but they informed me there is no guarantee that it cant be requested again.

It's a joke, it should not be this hard to cancel a "FREE" subscription.

Please don't waste your time. They will steal your money even if you cancel before your "free" trial is up. The classes are not even worth it, you can literally google or learn all of this *BASICinformation on YouTube. I cannot stress how awful and what a scam it is. False advertising from the very beginning. They hide behind this facade of "great customer service" when they just want your money and every lecture pushes and reminds you "JUST DON'T DROP OUT". Of course, so they can run your bank account ASAP! I did not even sign up for a "FREE TRIAL". They literally offered me a FREE course! And still charged my account... crazy! Immoral.

Won't honor my cancellation of free trial, and taking money from my bank account
April 27 I signed up for a free trial of Shaw academy classes, later on April 27 I emailed them to cancel the free trial. They will not honor my request after emailing them 5 times. They have taken money out of my bank account to pay for this class. They will not give my money back. They keep emailing me to tell me to start my classes. My account # with them is #XXXXXXX.

Desired Outcome

I would just like the Shaw academy to cancel my enrollment in their classes and give my Money back guarantee money back! And to stop harassing me twice daily with emails.

They cancelled my subscription like I had asked them to do and did not charge me anything. They have also stopped calling and texting me.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my EXPIRED credit card after I had already cancelled any future membership payments.
I recently signed up for a 4 week free trial graphic design course in which I was required to add my credit card information to access my trial. The day after I signed up, I logged in to ENSURE I was not enrolled in any paid programs and cancelled any future "automatic enrollments." I then deleted my credit card as an extra step to be cautious.

On 4/25 they charged my card for $69.99. This card was EXPIRED on 3/31/20. I never activated the replacement, I did not give them a new expiration date or CVV code, so I assume the just guessed at these numbers and eventually found the right ones and charged this card WITHOUT my authorization.

I then emailed them to explain and they refused to process a refund as "I agreed to the terms and conditions upon sign up for my free trial." Even though I cancelled and deleted my card. I had to go back in and cancel AGAIN to ensure I would not be charged further.

I am demanding a refund at this point and will report fraud to my financial institution and receive legal representation (at no cost don't worry) to retrieve every penny of this stolen money along with any late fees and interest on this credit card in the process.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be processed the full refund of $69.99 that you illegally processed and proof of cancellation of my account along with it so I know that you will never charge me again.

I have been notified of my refund being processed. Hopefully they stop doing this to other consumers.

Cancelled free membership trial before it was over. Was still charged for membership & was charged for the HIGHEST membership
On April 16th about 4:30pm Hawaii time I cancelled my Shaw Academy classes due to distaste of the service. I decided I'm a hands on learner & this type of service was not personable enough to pay for an extended time. I received a message that said "we're sorry your thinking of leaving... to confirm your cancellation call this number with this code.." On April 17th & 18th I called and the call wouldn't even place. Ring once & disconnect.

On April 28th Shaw Academy charged me $69.99 for the highest plan available. I went online signed in & immediately received a cancellation message.I sent a cancellation & refund help request explain my frustration on April 27th. Within moments I received an email with a case ID.

On April 28th I received a reply email about my cancelled subscription which failed to address the issue of a refund request at all. I replied to that email with no response but the company had the audacity to send me automated messages promising special offers in exchange for my return to using the service. I have attatched the 3 attempts. So I've gotten one reply since the ordeal & 3 attempts to get me to come back.

12 phone calls, 16 emails, 7 texts, 4 WhatsApp messages since signing up for a class three days ago. Tried to opt out, still getting contacted.
I am being massively spammed by Shaw Academy. Even after opting out and attempting to contact support. This has happened every day since I signed up. Nonstop spam. I even received several emails while attending a class...to let me know class was in session
I would pay for a class to avoid having to use Shaw again. I opted out of communication and I'm still getting spammed.

I've tried to contact their support team but it just causes more automated spam. My phone just rang from England while writing this....

12 phone calls, 16 emails, 7 texts, 4 WhatsApp messages since signing up for a class three days ago. Please make it stop.

I'd like them to resolve their contact issues. They don't have any customer support lines available to call that are answered by humans. I want them to leave me alone. I can send you pictures of my contact history if you need them

It will take up to 72 hours for our records to update.

On two occasions, Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money.
I signed up for a free class and was charged without confirmation for a course "toolkit" I did not want or need. I asked for a refund on 4/9/20 and for the amount of $34.95 and instead of refunding me they added "free" subscriptions, toolkits, and physical diplomas which I also did not ask for. Then on 4/28/20 I was charged for a premium subscription after already indicating my displeasure with their service and was again refused a refund. The amount was $69.99. Again I was refused a refund and given, without the opportunity to refuse it, more "free" access to the site.

I want a refund for the two purchases. $34.95 and $69.99 for a total of $104.94

My credit card was charged before the end of my free trial was over and they will not refund.
On April 1, 2020 I signed up for a free 30 day trial with Shaw Academy. I signed up for the Graphic Design and Adobe Illustrator classes. The classes and instructors were great and the information was valuable, but I did have some trouble getting into some of my classes and they did randomly freeze, and therefore I was not and am not interested in signing up at the end of my trial. Because I started on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 I read the contract as though I had until April 30th to cancel. My last class was on Wednesday, April 29th and again I was unable to get into the class so I waited for the recording and watched it that afternoon. After my class I went to cancel and found out that they had already charged my card, that day. Now, even if it was only a 4 week trial, I should have had a full 4 weeks which would have given me until the end of the day on the 29th. I caught this charge very quickly and reached out immediately. I have not used Shaw Academy since they charged me for the month, I do not want to sign up and I called to cancel both on the 29th and the 30th, but they were closed on the 29th. They do not have real people to speak with and I am unable to get a "real" response from them. They are saying in their emails that I missed my chance for a refund, but it should not be a refund because it was a fraudulent card and I would just like my money back. Please do not take my money a day early on a free trial. I am hoping that this will help solve my problem and they will give back my $69.99 charge from credit card as I am not interested in signing up for their program. They are making me free offers and other discounts, but as you can understand in these uncertain times, I would just like me money that they technically stole. Thank you for listening.

No functioning way to cancel a subscription.
I signed up for a one month free trial with Shaw Academy on April 3,2020. On April 29, 2020 I decided to cancel the subscription. There website makes you answer a bunch on silly questions, then spits out a phone number (1 289 806 3202) and a student number (XXXXX) and tells you to call the number to cancel. The number when dialed leads to an auto-recording, which talks for about 5 minutes, tells you your subscription has been cancelled, and then hangs up on you without ever taking any account into at all. I can very obviously still sign in and access course materials. so my account has not been cancelled.

Internet reviews about this company are apparently unanimous that they take your Credit Card Info and then charge your card agains your permission. I have also sent emails and have gotten auto replies telling me it may take days to respond (which is worrying because they constantly bombard you with emails...)

I would appreciate you advice on how to deal with this. Should I be cancelling my credit card?

I have been charged $120 total for an account that has been canceled during free trial. I spoke with them via email and they refuse to refund me.
I signed up for class with shaw academy and canceled withing free trial. A month after I canceled I noticed a charge of $60. I contacted them via email and they tell me that they have mo record of charging me. I send the screenshots of charge to my account and they give me 12 months free and say they noted the account and it is closed and I will no longer be charged. This month I was charged another $60 and can not get a response from them and that was the last 60 I had to my name to feed my child. Due to pandemic I am super tight on money. Something needs to be done about this or they will continue to do this to other people.

I registered for a 4 week free trail and they they charged me a fee before the end of my subscription.
I registered for a 4 week free trail for graphic design online class and they asked for card details during the registration and mentioned that the card will not be charged until the end of 4 weeks and I did cancel it on 20th of April and on 29th of April they charged my card $69.99. Whenever I emailed them regarding the problem they sent me a stereotype email which exactly same to the other cases I see in Revdex.com. On their website there is no way to delete my card details. I did follow all the steps to cancel the subscription.

As of now I accept their response as long as they refund my money and cancel my subscription and card details from their end.

They won't respond to refund emails and has templates of responses which makes it not applicable to a specific question. No live chat or phone either.
I decided to purchase a 3 month membership with Shaw Academy in hopes that it can help me further my education. Before signing up, I did not know that I have to pay to end a module on top of the membership. They have buttons all over the website that you can also accidentally click easily and the payment will be taken from your account right away after one click. I have contacted them about more information, help with access and a refund but they did not reply to the refund request. For my other inquiries they responded with the same message to different questions which did not assist me at all. This made me believe that they just send templates. They have no phone number to call that works and no live chat that can assist you with any issues. I want to ensure that I get my refund as I made the purchase 4 days ago just to realize that the company has horrible customer service/support team and bad reviews online. With all the bad reviews, it does not look good at all in a resume to have certification from this company. I have payed a total of around $1XX-XXXCAD and now I am getting informed that I would have to pay around $35CAD every time I want to finish a module. This was not explained before or during the free trial they provide.

Hello, they did not send me an email saying they are giving me a refund at all. This is the last email sent to me even with all my invoices, banking information and receipts from the actual profile in the website is included. They are saying there was no charges as all but I have proof of everything they are denying.

two non authorise payment from shaw academy

Shaw Academy processed two unauthorized charge on my debit account and refused to refund the money.
The first transaction happened on the 6th of april. I received an email from shaw academy to log into my account while waiting while the email link to load and transfer me onto the app, the link charged my account. I emailed them to raise this matter and all I received back was, sorry Sir this is a transaction we can't refund and that we would offer you 3 free modules worth $150. I wasn't happy with it and still insisted for a refund. The second non authorise payment was done on the 30th April. I have sent them another email about this. Please these two payment wasn't authorise by myself.

My account was charged prematurely, and customer services refuses to acknowledge this. They say no way at all a refund is possible.
I signed up for Shaw academy in order to complete hours for school work, as I am a college senior who needed online instruction in order to complete my degree. I registered with Shaw academy because they had a 4 week free trial. I marked on my calendar to cancel on April 25 in order to avoid being charge the 69.99 fee on April 27th as per noted when I signed up. On April 25th I found that I had a pending amount charged in my account that was charged the 25th and then withdrawn the 27th. I was unaware that I would be charged 2 days early for the amount. I contacted the company on the 25th and they said nothing would be done, they were sorry, and that they would cancel my account. I checked a day later, and my account had not been cancelled. So I proceeded to cancel my account. On April 27th, my account was charged, which I knew it was going to but I could not stop the charge because it had been pending since the 25th. Correspondence with this company has been greuling and they have not offered any solutions to my problems, other than extending the length of the account which I have already cancelled.

I signed up for 1 month free online photography course. Didn't complete the signup. They took the money. Completely ignore my emails and complaint.
I signed up for a 1 month free online photography course. I didn't complete the signup process as I didn't want to go ahead as I lost my job due to coronavirus. They even emailed me to say 'you haven't completed the sign up process'. After the initial month, they took the money anyway!! I went through the extremely lengthy process to cancel the membership which I didn't think I even had. I never once logged onto their website during that month and didn't do a single training. They have completely ignored my emails and the complaint I submitted on their website. I also messaged them on Twitter which they ignored. This is a complete scam and the customer service is the worst I've ever encountered.

Desired Outcome

Given that following their email to confirm I had not completed the sign up process, I believed I had not taken out any membership, along with the fact I never logged onto the website or did any courses, I would like a refund. I can't afford to lose this money as I just lost my job due to the pandemic.

Shaw Academy took money from my account after I cancelled 4-week trial (after even 2 weeks of usage). They refuse to refund.

It was advertised that students can cancel the trial anytime and will not be charged if it happens during trial period.
I joined the trial on March 25, and cancelled it on April 7. They I got a call, where a confirmed that they got my request to cancel and wanted to make me to re-join. But I didn't need it.
They withdrew the money through PayPal on April 24 and now they refuse to refund.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge after cancellation request was akcnoledged by them, also need a refund for itmes not used.

According to Shaw Academy terms and conditions, students can have a free trial period before subscribing to paid membership. Cancelling the free trial before the period is over will mean no charges will be incurred. Accordingly I cancelled my free trial 8 days before the trial period was over. Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge after cancellation request akcnoledged by them (I have screenshots and an email chain for proof).
Also, I have requested the full refund for the e-certificate and toolkit which I wont need since I'm not going to continue the curse.
Summing up, I do not want to renew subscription, I do not need an e-certificate for a course I did not complete nor a toolkit I don't need, and do not want any offers or deals from the academy. Please refund me and deactivate the account.

Desired Outcome

Full refund of month subscription, e-certificate and toolkit. Deactivation of the account and no more unauthorized charges on my cedit card. I want absolute disconnection with Shaw Academy. Do not trust them!

7 business days have past and still I have not received a full refund for the items mentioned. They offered and acted like I want to keep doing courses with them, which I specifically said I do not want any more business with them. I need full refund for the subscription, e-certificate and tool kit that I did not use and do not need. I do not need any more extensions on their programs or any more advertising, just a clean cut and my money back!

Until today, I have not received full refund, but 1/3 of the 3 items in dispute. Emails from this people just wont stop! even though I specifically requested to be removed from their email lists
