Unauthorized charge
STOP CHARGING PEOPLE BY MARKETING FREE CLASSES THEN TAKING THEIR INFORMATION TO MAKE UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES. I don't care what the "fine print" says, it's unethical and misleading. This is a HUGE problem you guys are dealing with. Trying to start a subscription by offering "free classes" is WRONG. I signed up thinking there was nothing else to worry about, and yet you charge me $70 during a pandemic where people have LOST THEIR JOBS and struggle getting by? Change the business model because THIS IS NOT RIGHT. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. I've already disputed with PayPal. They ought to ban you guys from using their platform to process payments.

Refund on toolkit refused and now ignoring all emails
I have been charged for a toolkit that I do not need. I clicked the 'pay now' button expecting to be taken to a page to provide more details on the package at at a minimum the ability to review payment details and click confirm. As a consumer who has accessed training and inevitably a variety of online products, I have never encountered this before. There are a multitude of reviews from other consumers with the same dispute. Therefore, it is alarming that I have been signposted to this company as a Telegraph newspaper subscriber and will report to them if action is not taken.
I have also communicated that in the current climate, I cannot afford for nearly £40 to be taken from my account. This matter has caused stress that I do not need.
Under my consumer rights, I am entitled to a refund for a package that I have not used. Furthermore, due to the mistrust of the company, I instantly cancelled my membership. I have now had to also cancel my card as the reviews also included that a payment for the next month could be taken despite cancellation.
I have contacted the customer service team several times over the last few days and neglected to fulfil the policy to reply within 24-48 hours.
Therefore, I will require a refund directly to my bank or the new card for that account.

A full refund for the toolkit to my new account card, the details of which I will provide directly to the Shaw Academy accounts team.

I signed up for a free month trial with Shaw Academy, the details of the cancellation date, supposed reminder, and phone hours were in error.
I signed up for a month free trial, the day before what I thought was the last day of my trial, I tried to cancel online, finding that I had to call to do so, but the phone line was already closed for the day. The countdown said "1 day remaining" so I clicked the button to receive a reminder before I needed to cancel in order not to be charged. The next day the countdown still said "1 day remaining," I never received a reminder email and I tried to call during the business hours written on the website which said the line was open until 8 pm only to find upon calling that the line had closed at 5 pm, thereby I was unable to cancel and was charged for a month subscription. I have tried to email and have not yet received a response to what is a mix of deception toward the actual date you must cancel by not to continue into a membership and hoops to jump through to actually cancel, which you are unable to do when you want if the phone line is not open.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund for the $69.99 charged to my card for a membership that I tried to cancel before the end date.

Shaw Academy took payment from my account before my free trial had ended.
I signed up with Shaw Academy to complete what they said was a free 4-week course. I chose to do their Social Media Marketing course. I set a reminder to cancel my free trial for Thursday 23rd April 2020. When I went to cancel I was greeted with a message from Shaw Academy which stated that I had "2 days left" of my 4-week trial. There was also a call to action button on the page which said they would send a reminder 1 DAY BEFORE the trial was up to notify me. However, today, Friday 24th April 2020 they took payment of £49.99 from my account.
This is not 2 days on and no reminder has been received, only numerous emails urging me to buy certificates and the sort.

This company made an unauthorized charge to my bank account, and they are impossible to reach for a refund, and to cancel my subscription.
I signed up for 4 free weeks of Shaw Academy courses. Shaw Academy charged my account $.50, then refunded the $.50. I took a class, which you have to take when they schedule, and then was shown an advertisement for a FREE toolkit. It said to click for a free tool kit, but does not describe the tool kit at all. I clicked the button thinking it would take me to the description of the tool kit. Instead, Shaw Academy charged my account $39.95 when I clicked the button. This is false advertisement, I never even authorized this charge. The phone number given to reach Shaw Academy leads to no customer service over the phone, it is just a recording. I have emailed this company and received no response. I have also placed a report with PayPal in regards to this transaction. This company is a scam.

I signed up for free 2 week trial. I realized it conflicted with my schedule and cancelled 2 days before trial ended. However, $70 was taken from me.
I signed up for Shaw Academy 2 week free trial. Upon the start date I realized that it would conflict with my schooling schedule. So I cancelled my subscription with 2 days left in the free trial. I was devastated and rather confused when a total of 69.99 was taken out of my account despite me having cancelled my plan 2 days prior. What hurts the most is that the 70 dollars taken out of my account was almost half of my account during this trying time of quarantine as a result of COVID-19. I am upset and I feel scammed and taken advantage of in these hard times. I hope a refund or resolve will be given as soon as possible. Especially because I did not take even one course so it's just free money for them.

I have taken the initiative and complied with their resolve option. However, all I received was the run around and got told I had a 4 week trial but then told I had a 2 week trial. Regardless of what trial I cancelled it prior to it ending and still got charged which is my issue. Seems like I will not be receiving my refund. I have never had this issue or had this happen. I know for the future not to use their service. I am upset but I cant continue to fight and waste time when there truly is no solution.

I entered my credit card for 4-week free trial on Shaw Academy. After finishing my first class, I clicked Join button in order to start my second lesson. All at once, a message popped up telling me that I was charged 34.95 dollars for their toolkit. I never mean to buy anything within this period and I was TRICKED to pay their service. I tried to contact their customer service but they refused to refund my money. Instead, they tried to give me more products that I didn't need at that moment instead of refunding me money. I felt upset and angry that Shaw Academy charged me without my authorization. Shaw Academy is FRAUD company and I will never use their service again!
And to update, as Shaw Academy failed my trust, I decided to cancel my subscription with this *** company. Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
I have e-mailed them regarding the purchase of an E-Certificate. I was told the course was 100% free; however, the website is poorly designed. When I was trying together more information about the E-Cerficate it automatically purchased the certificate, which doesn't make sense because I had not yet even taken a single class at that point. When I realized the money had been taken from my credit card I e-mailed their support and they wanted to gift me $199 credit instead of reimbursing my money. So I e-mailed them a second time explaining that I was not inserted in associating myself with the academy and I don't plan on taking their classes, therefore, I would like my money back.

I accidentally clicked something, I was charged when asked for a refund I was told no.
I was checking out this site as I was given a month subscription from Verizon for free. While doing so I clicked a button that said tool kit as I though it was going to explain what the tool kit was. Once clicked nothing happened other then the button disappearing. Turns out it was a one click authorization buy button. I quickly realized something was a miss and so I reached out to them within seconds to explain the miss hap. They sent me multiple emails saying that they couldn't locate my account and each time I provided them with the info they asked for the same info again and again. They finally after a day of sending me the same emails over and over tell me they can't refund it because they provided the "good". They then tried to offer me a bunch of things but refused to refund my money. I got zapped for $40. They also never send me a receipt. I wouldn't even know the money was taken if I hadn't checked the part where it says purchase history. Nothing even popped up saying thank you for buying or anything.

They provided what I requested
I was charged for a service I cancelled & didn't use and Shaw refuses to refund me. It also seems online that I'm not the first.
I signed up for a Social Media course online via facebook with a 1 month free trial
I signed up Mid March and I had until April 14th to cancel
After attending the 1st 15 minutes of the 1st course I realized it's not for me and I sent an email in to cancel. I also went online to try to cancel in my profile and they make it impossible
I kept getting reminders in my email after that that I had "missed another online course" to which I replied and reminded them that I communicated with them to cancel.
on April 14th I was charged 69.99 on my credit card.
I've since then communicated with them over 5 times and explained to them that I made several attempts to cancel this MID MARCH. There is no phone number to call. When I try to make a comment on a post on their social media, it gets deleted.
My credit card company is going to refund the charge but really I'm more concerned about the fact that this company doesn't seem to have anyone that you can talk to and from what I've seen on social media, a lot of people are in my same boat.

I'm happy to get my refund back but my BIGGEST concern is that this is happening to others.
I want Shaw Academy to explain:
1- Why it's so difficult to cancel a course
2- Why they delete ALL negative comments from people like me on Instagram letting others know that there are issues with the online refunds

I fully understand the effects of Covid on your company.. that being said, I don't think it's fair to play the covid card when the person who is managing your instagram account is systematically deleting negative comments and swiftly responding to questions re: enrollment. This tells me that it wasn't a LACK OF TIME OR STAFF.. this was a choice.
I want to know that something is being put in place. that's all.
I am no longer in a place where an unwanted charge on my credit card will affect me that much BUT some people CAN'T afford to have a charge put through on their card if they are already struggling financially, it could lead to bounced payments etc.
You are playing with the lives of individuals and you are accountable.

After filing a complaint on the Revdex.com webpage of an unauthorized transaction, Shaw Academy still refused to refund me. Somehow after canceling my free subscription, my account was switched to a Premium account. They claimed that I purchased a module and would not receive me a refund. After reading how many others have received this same issue, I believe that Shaw Academy will continue to wrongly charge others in the future for there "free" learning courses.

Unknowingly charged the morning after making a call to confirm my cancellation. I am here seeking a refund and confirmation of definite cancellation
I started my 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy on March 28th, only doing so because of the free trial. My last class was on April 19th and I proceeded to cancel my membership with the academy on the 21st so as not to be charged. I was on the phone with an automated system when cancelling and it took me by surprise - the tone of the system made me feel almost ashamed of quitting which isn't right. I'm a student trying to make it through uni among all that's going on and I signed up to get in some extra learning - to then be unknowingly charged £49.99 via card on the 22nd of April, the morning after I made the call telling me I had successfully cancelled, is not acceptable. If I had known that this would happen I would not have signed up at all.
The cancellation call said I would also receive an email confirming that I had cancelled and that email never arrived, I checked everywhere including spam. My student number is XXXXX.

This is the satisfaction related response I sent via email and, to be honest, at this point I'm just done. I feel manipulated and sitting here telling me a free trial that you get charged for completing is right won't sit with me. That's all.
'Thank you for the response. However, I am not satisfied with this - I was sent another email today to leave feedback as to whether I felt satisfied and, despite the fact it was sent this very same day, when I went to send the feedback it said my "request is now closed". With all due respect, 6 months of classes with a company that I wish to have no further involvement with will not solve the fact that I am a student amid a global pandemic who has to afford rent and just tried to get in some extra study. As a company claiming to value the education and experience of students doing this to people really goes against everything you stand for. To advertise a trial as "free" yet to charge people for actually completing it? It makes no sense and is misleading advertisement, regardless of what any small print says.
And despite the fact it's been confirmed that I will not be charged ever again I've still been receiving spam mail from the academy every day both via email and text. I want nothing to do with any of this anymore, and will do everything I can to ensure that others don't get caught up among the same scam mess that I blatantly have.'

Issues with customer service and getting a refund
I signed up for a 4 week free trial. At the start of the end of the 4th week I purchased the additional 12 weeks to finish the course. I was then forced to start over at the first week. When I asked to cancel and get a refund they agreed to cancel but will not give me my money back despite not starting the rest of the course. They instead offered me a free lifetime plan which I do not want. I just want my 99.95 back. They also never provided me with a receipt and initially claimed 2 times to not know who I was.

My request for my subscription to be cancelled was not fulfilled.
3/26/20 I signed up for a free 4 week trial of a sports nutrition class through Shaw Academy. I received a text instructing me to download the app. When I tried to log on it did not recognize either of the 2 emails I have and was prompting me to sign up again. I contacted customer service through their website on 3/28/20. They responded same day saying they were unable to locate my account with the emails provided and requested my full name and phone number. I responded with the requested info that day. When I hadn't gotten a response, I emailed them again on 4/5/20 and requested that, since I was unable to log in to cancel my trial, they cancel my subscription. I didn't get a response to that email either. I looked for a phone number on their website and online and could not locate one. My credit card has now has a pending charge for $69.99 from Shaw Academy.

I sent an email to the address you provided and again got a generic response telling me they do not recognize my email and I need to email them from my registered email. If someone had actually read my email they would have known that the whole issue IS that you can't locate my account.

I was unable to login to cancel in the required time, only after contacting was I "able" to login in and cancel. Still charged. Very shady company.
I signed up for a "free" 4-week graphic design course. After realizing I wouldn't use it I tried to login and cancel but was unsuccessful after trying dozens of times. I assumed I hadn't completed signing up since I couldn't login. I was then charged $60 weeks later. After contacting them about login issues and being unable to cancel on time, I was then miraculously able to login in after sending them possible emails my account may be under. They informed me they WILL NOT refund me but instead, have "given" me more courses that I will not use. This type of shady swindling and wordplay has been seen in numerous complaints about this company to the Revdex.com and is shameful.

Falsely advertised free trial, charged full price, refuse to give refund.
Shaw academy was advertising a 14 day "free trial" for one of their courses. I signed up for the trial and instead was immediately charged full price for the course. I spent weeks corresponding by email trying to get my money back. I was told it was not possible and that I had agreed to purchase the course and begin a subscription (which I did not). I also did not even have access to what I "paid" for and would have had to keep buying additional add-ons to see the course material. Eventually, I was able to cancel the "subscription" I had apparently signed up for and the representative told me my refund will be processed. However, I have not seen a penny of my refund or received a response from their team, despite continuing to email frequently. Upon reading more reviews now, I see that this company is complete scam; and they are preying on people looking to learn new skills while stuck at home during Covid-19, which is unethical.

Hello, well as many other cases I cancelled my account days before my trial was over and they still charged me $70cad for the month. They won´t refund
I already tried to talk to Shaw Academy. They said that in the terms and conditions says that they will charge me and that they do not do refunds, but also in their same terms and conditions it says that once the membership is cancelled they won´t charge anything. I cancelled my membership on Monday the 20th of April 2020, and I got a charge of $70 CAD on April 22nd 2020. I ask for a refund since it said that my account was already cancelled and they offered to give me more classes. With the covid right now, many of us are trying to save money. That is why I cancelled it, because I can not longer pay for it. I do not want any more courses, I just want my money back because I need it.

Refund on toolkit refused and now ignoring all emails
I have been charged for a toolkit that I do not need. I clicked the 'pay now' button expecting to be taken to a page to provide more details on the package at at a minimum the ability to review payment details and click confirm. As a consumer who has accessed training and inevitably a variety of online products, I have never encountered this before. There are a multitude of reviews from other consumers with the same dispute. Therefore, it is alarming that I have been signposted to this company as a Telegraph newspaper subscriber and will report to them if action is not taken.
I have also communicated that in the current climate, I cannot afford for nearly £40 to be taken from my account. This matter has caused stress that I do not need.
Under my consumer rights, I am entitled to a refund for a package that I have not used. Furthermore, due to the mistrust of the company, I instantly cancelled my membership. I have now had to also cancel my card as the reviews also included that a payment for the next month could be taken despite cancellation.
I have contacted the customer service team several times over the last few days and neglected to fulfil the policy to reply within 24-48 hours.
Therefore, I will require a refund directly to my bank or the new card for that account.

I signed up for a free month trial with Shaw Academy, the details of the cancellation date, supposed reminder, and phone hours were in error.
I signed up for a month free trial, the day before what I thought was the last day of my trial, I tried to cancel online, finding that I had to call to do so, but the phone line was already closed for the day. The countdown said "1 day remaining" so I clicked the button to receive a reminder before I needed to cancel in order not to be charged. The next day the countdown still said "1 day remaining," I never received a reminder email and I tried to call during the business hours written on the website which said the line was open until 8 pm only to find upon calling that the line had closed at 5 pm, thereby I was unable to cancel and was charged for a month subscription. I have tried to email and have not yet received a response to what is a mix of deception toward the actual date you must cancel by not to continue into a membership and hoops to jump through to actually cancel, which you are unable to do when you want if the phone line is not open.
I want a full refund for the $69.99 charged to my card for a membership that I tried to cancel before the end date.

Shaw Academy took payment from my account before my free trial had ended.
I signed up with Shaw Academy to complete what they said was a free 4-week course. I chose to do their Social Media Marketing course. I set a reminder to cancel my free trial for Thursday 23rd April 2020. When I went to cancel I was greeted with a message from Shaw Academy which stated that I had "2 days left" of my 4-week trial. There was also a call to action button on the page which said they would send a reminder 1 DAY BEFORE the trial was up to notify me. However, today, Friday 24th April 2020 they took payment of £49.99 from my account.
This is not 2 days on and no reminder has been received, only numerous emails urging me to buy certificates and the sort.

This company made an unauthorized charge to my bank account, and they are impossible to reach for a refund, and to cancel my subscription.
I signed up for 4 free weeks of Shaw Academy courses. Shaw Academy charged my account $.50, then refunded the $.50. I took a class, which you have to take when they schedule, and then was shown an advertisement for a FREE toolkit. It said to click for a free tool kit, but does not describe the tool kit at all. I clicked the button thinking it would take me to the description of the tool kit. Instead, Shaw Academy charged my account $39.95 when I clicked the button. This is false advertisement, I never even authorized this charge. The phone number given to reach Shaw Academy leads to no customer service over the phone, it is just a recording. I have emailed this company and received no response. I have also placed a report with PayPal in regards to this transaction. This company is a scam.

I was devastated and rather confused when a total of 69.99 was taken out of my account despite me having cancelled my plan 2 days prior. What hurts the most is that the 70 dollars taken out of my account was almost half of my account during this trying time of quarantine as a result of COVID-19. I am upset and I feel scammed and taken advantage of in these hard times. I hope a refund or resolve will be given as soon as possible. I have taken the initiative and complied with their resolve option. However, all I received was the run around and got told I had a 4 week trial but then told I had a 2 week trial. Regardless of what trial I cancelled it prior to it ending and still got charged which is my issue. Seems like I will not be receiving my refund. I have never had this issue or had this happen. All at once, a message popped up telling me that I was charged 34.95 dollars for their toolkit. I never mean to buy anything within this period and I was TRICKED to pay their service. I tried to contact their customer service but they refused to refund my money. Instead, they tried to give me more products that I didn't need at that moment instead of refunding me money. I felt upset and angry that Shaw Academy charged me without my authorization. Shaw Academy is FRAUD company and I will never use their service again! And to update, as Shaw Academy failed my trust, I decided to cancel my subscription with this *** company. Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
I have e-mailed them regarding the purchase of an E-Certificate. I was told the course was 100% free; however, the website is poorly designed. When I was trying together more information about the E-Cerficate it automatically purchased the certificate, which doesn't make sense because I had not yet even taken a single class at that point. When I realized the money had been taken from my credit card I e-mailed their support and they wanted to gift me $199 credit instead of reimbursing my money. So I e-mailed them a second time explaining that I was not inserted in associating myself with the academy and I don't plan on taking their classes, therefore, I would like my money back.

They will TRICK YOU into registering for their courses for a 30-day free trial, and if you cancel beforehand, they will charge you anyways and tell you that you never canceled to begin with. The PROOF of their representatives canceling my account is in my email trails. I accidentally clicked something, I was charged when asked for a refund I was told no.
I was checking out this site as I was given a month subscription from Verizon for free. While doing so I clicked a button that said tool kit as I though it was going to explain what the tool kit was. Once clicked nothing happened other then the button disappearing. Turns out it was a one click authorization buy button. I quickly realized something was a miss and so I reached out to them within seconds to explain the miss hap. They sent me multiple emails saying that they couldn't locate my account and each time I provided them with the info they asked for the same info again and again. They finally after a day of sending me the same emails over and over tell me they can't refund it because they provided the "good". They then tried to offer me a bunch of things but refused to refund my money. I got zapped for $40. They also never send me a receipt. I wouldn't even know the money was taken if I hadn't checked the part where it says purchase history. Nothing even popped up saying thank you for buying or anything.

I was charged for a service I cancelled & didn't use and Shaw refuses to refund me. It also seems online that I'm not the first.
I signed up for a Social Media course online via facebook with a 1 month free trial
I signed up Mid March and I had until April 14th to cancel
After attending the 1st 15 minutes of the 1st course I realized it's not for me and I sent an email in to cancel. I also went online to try to cancel in my profile and they make it impossible
I kept getting reminders in my email after that that I had "missed another online course" to which I replied and reminded them that I communicated with them to cancel.
on April 14th I was charged 69.99 on my credit card.
I've since then communicated with them over 5 times and explained to them that I made several attempts to cancel this MID MARCH. There is no phone number to call. When I try to make a comment on a post on their social media, it gets deleted.
My credit card company is going to refund the charge but really I'm more concerned about the fact that this company doesn't seem to have anyone that you can talk to and from what I've seen on social media, a lot of people are in my same boat.

After filing a complaint on the Revdex.com webpage of an unauthorized transaction, Shaw Academy still refused to refund me. Somehow after canceling my free subscription, my account was switched to a Premium account. They claimed that I purchased a module and would not receive me a refund. After reading how many others have received this same issue, I believe that Shaw Academy will continue to wrongly charge others in the future for there "free" learning courses.

Unknowingly charged the morning after making a call to confirm my cancellation. I am here seeking a refund and confirmation of definite cancellation
I started my 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy on March 28th, only doing so because of the free trial. My last class was on April 19th and I proceeded to cancel my membership with the academy on the 21st so as not to be charged. I was on the phone with an automated system when cancelling and it took me by surprise - the tone of the system made me feel almost ashamed of quitting which isn't right. I'm a student trying to make it through uni among all that's going on and I signed up to get in some extra learning - to then be unknowingly charged £49.99 via card on the 22nd of April, the morning after I made the call telling me I had successfully cancelled, is not acceptable. If I had known that this would happen I would not have signed up at all.

This is the satisfaction related response I sent via email and, to be honest, at this point I'm just done. I feel manipulated and sitting here telling me a free trial that you get charged for completing is right won't sit with me. That's all.

Issues with customer service and getting a refund
I signed up for a 4 week free trial. At the start of the end of the 4th week I purchased the additional 12 weeks to finish the course. I was then forced to start over at the first week. When I asked to cancel and get a refund they agreed to cancel but will not give me my money back despite not starting the rest of the course. They instead offered me a free lifetime plan which I do not want. I just want my 99.95 back. They also never provided me with a receipt and initially claimed 2 times to not know who I was.

My request for my subscription to be cancelled was not fulfilled.
3/26/20 I signed up for a free 4 week trial of a sports nutrition class through Shaw Academy. I received a text instructing me to download the app. When I tried to log on it did not recognize either of the 2 emails I have and was prompting me to sign up again. I contacted customer service through their website on 3/28/20. They responded same day saying they were unable to locate my account with the emails provided and requested my full name and phone number. I responded with the requested info that day. When I hadn't gotten a response, I emailed them again on 4/5/20 and requested that, since I was unable to log in to cancel my trial, they cancel my subscription. I didn't get a response to that email either. I looked for a phone number on their website and online and could not locate one. My credit card has now has a pending charge for $69.99 from Shaw Academy.

I was unable to login to cancel in the required time, only after contacting was I "able" to login in and cancel. Still charged. Very shady company.
I signed up for a "free" 4-week graphic design course. After realizing I wouldn't use it I tried to login and cancel but was unsuccessful after trying dozens of times. I assumed I hadn't completed signing up since I couldn't login. I was then charged $60 weeks later. After contacting them about login issues and being unable to cancel on time, I was then miraculously able to login in after sending them possible emails my account may be under. They informed me they WILL NOT refund me but instead, have "given" me more courses that I will not use. This type of shady swindling and wordplay has been seen in numerous complaints about this company to the Revdex.com and is shameful.

Falsely advertised free trial, charged full price, refuse to give refund.
Shaw academy was advertising a 14 day "free trial" for one of their courses. I signed up for the trial and instead was immediately charged full price for the course. I spent weeks corresponding by email trying to get my money back. I was told it was not possible and that I had agreed to purchase the course and begin a subscription (which I did not). I also did not even have access to what I "paid" for and would have had to keep buying additional add-ons to see the course material. Eventually, I was able to cancel the "subscription" I had apparently signed up for and the representative told me my refund will be processed. However, I have not seen a penny of my refund or received a response from their team, despite continuing to email frequently. Upon reading more reviews now, I see that this company is complete scam; and they are preying on people looking to learn new skills while stuck at home during Covid-19, which is unethical.
The only resolution I am looking for is a full refund for the course I was charged for. The price is $69 USD

I already tried to talk to Shaw Academy. They said that in the terms and conditions says that they will charge me and that they do not do refunds, but also in their same terms and conditions it says that once the membership is cancelled they won´t charge anything. I cancelled my membership on Monday the 20th of April 2020, and I got a charge of $70 CAD on April 22nd 2020. I ask for a refund since it said that my account was already cancelled and they offered to give me more classes. With the covid right now, many of us are trying to save money. That is why I cancelled it, because I can not longer pay for it. I do not want any more courses, I just want my money back because I need it.
