Unknowingly charged the morning after making a call to confirm my cancellation. I am here seeking a refund and confirmation of definite cancellation
I started my 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy on March 28th, only doing so because of the free trial. My last class was on April 19th and I proceeded to cancel my membership with the academy on the 21st so as not to be charged. I was on the phone with an automated system when cancelling and it took me by surprise - the tone of the system made me feel almost ashamed of quitting which isn't right. I'm a student trying to make it through uni among all that's going on and I signed up to get in some extra learning - to then be unknowingly charged £49.99 via card on the 22nd of April, the morning after I made the call telling me I had successfully cancelled, is not acceptable. If I had known that this would happen I would not have signed up at all.
The cancellation call said I would also receive an email confirming that I had cancelled and that email never arrived, I checked everywhere including spam. My student number is XXXXX.
Desired Outcome
I'm seeking a refund for the £49.99 taken out of my account the morning after I had been told I had cancelled and I would like definite clear confirmation that I will never be charged by this company again. On my billing it says continuous payment and that is definitely not something I want. My student number with this academy was XXXXX

This is the satisfaction related response I sent via email and, to be honest, at this point I'm just done. I feel manipulated and sitting here telling me a free trial that you get charged for completing is right won't sit with me. That's all.
'Thank you for the response. However, I am not satisfied with this - I was sent another email today to leave feedback as to whether I felt satisfied and, despite the fact it was sent this very same day, when I went to send the feedback it said my "request is now closed". With all due respect, 6 months of classes with a company that I wish to have no further involvement with will not solve the fact that I am a student amid a global pandemic who has to afford rent and just tried to get in some extra study. As a company claiming to value the education and experience of students doing this to people really goes against everything you stand for. To advertise a trial as "free" yet to charge people for actually completing it? It makes no sense and is misleading advertisement, regardless of what any small print says.
And despite the fact it's been confirmed that I will not be charged ever again I've still been receiving spam mail from the academy every day both via email and text. I want nothing to do with any of this anymore, and will do everything I can to ensure that others don't get caught up among the same scam mess that I blatantly have.'

I accidentally clicked something, I was charged when asked for a refund I was told no.
I was checking out this site as I was given a month subscription from Verizon for free. While doing so I clicked a button that said tool kit as I though it was going to explain what the tool kit was. Once clicked nothing happened other then the button disappearing. Turns out it was a one click authorization buy button. I quickly realized something was a miss and so I reached out to them within seconds to explain the miss hap. They sent me multiple emails saying that they couldn't locate my account and each time I provided them with the info they asked for the same info again and again. They finally after a day of sending me the same emails over and over tell me they can't refund it because they provided the "good". They then tried to offer me a bunch of things but refused to refund my money. I got zapped for $40. They also never send me a receipt. I wouldn't even know the money was taken if I hadn't checked the part where it says purchase history. Nothing even popped up saying thank you for buying or anything.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund, as simple as that.

Number where you cancelhyt or call to make inquiries about subscription is "closed" and you are not able to cancel subscription online.
Entire month of March I tried to cancel my subscription, once I found out the company's "class" was a fraud. I was unable to do so. I couldn't reach anyone at the company, no one would answer my emails or Facebook messages. On April 22 they charged my paypal account $70 and I have no idea what for. I signed up to take one class, that ended after four weeks. I tried to cancel so I didn't get 70 emails every day basically 2 days into this class and I couldn't. We kept calling and it would tell me invalid number and wouldn't let me. I have emailed call etc and no one responds. I want a refund but more importantly I want people to know that this company is a joke, disrespectful and shouldn't be allowed to do business.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund of the $69.99.

I got my refund
Company charged an unauthorized purchase and would not allow me to cancel free trial membership as stated.
I signed up for a free trial for a 4-week course on 4/7/2020. The courses are for some reason scheduled, which doesn't work for me for an online course. They offered a "module toolkit," which offered no details of what that included, I clicked on it for more information and it immediately charged my card for $39.95. No confirmation or anything. I still do not see any details of what exactly that is. I emailed customer support for a refund and have been going back and forth with Marcus for weeks. They are only offering me a credit to courses and apologies on dissatisfaction but no refund or confirmation to cancel my trial membership. Their course structure and content is also lackluster. When I attempted to cancel my trial membership early (12 days prior to end), it is saying I need to call a number to confirm cancellation. I've never encountered this. When I call the number, it says they are closed. However the hours are listed on the page and I did in fact call within those hours. It sounds like this will be a never ending trap, similar to what others have mentioned and experienced.
Desired Outcome
I would like business to: 1. Return the $39.95 they charged unauthorized. 2. 100% permanently cancel any membership and delete my account information and never contact me again.

Shaw Academy has fraudulently billed me for $59.99. I enrolled into their 4 weeks of free subscription but cancelled it in 20 days, yet I was billed.
I had enrolled with Shaw Academy's 4 weeks(28 days) of free-trial program on 3/10, but cancelled my trial on 3/30. I even received a confirmation mail that my membership has been cancelled from Shaw Academy on 3/30. Yet, Shaw Academy has billed me for $59.99.
The difference between my enrollment date of 3/10 and the cancellation date of 3/30 is NOT 4 weeks. One of the conditions for availing free subscription was to enter the credit-card details. By the terms-and-conditions of Shaw Academy, $59.99 will be charged only if the customers don't cancel within the 28 days of enrollment. Although I have cancelled by enrollment in 20 days, I still got billed for $59.99.
I did check back with Shaw Academy about their mistake, but they are refusing the refund. They keeping shifting the blame on me and ask me to refer their Terms-and-Conditions. Even after I highlighted the relevant section from their Terms-and-Conditions, and explained that I have cancelled the my subscription within 20 days, they refuse to budge. They refuse to get into any details and always give a very abstract response about their Terms-and-Conditions.
I feel cheated by Shaw Academy as they refuse to stick with their own Terms. They keep offering me free courses but I am not interested. I had availed the free subscription offer thru T-Mobile's Tuesday program, but never imagined such unprofessional behavior from Shaw Academy.
Details:
Date of Enrollment: 3/10
Date of Cancellation: 3/30
Total Duration Used: 20 days
Free-subsription duration: 28 days(4 weeks)
Data for billing: 4/8
Amount Billed: $59.99
Date of Complaint with Shaw Academy: 4/15
Desired Outcome
I need complete refund of $59.99. I have followed the Terms and Conditions to the word. I don't want to do any more business with Shaw Academy and hence am not interested in any of the freebies that they are offering me.

I was charged for the free trial erroneously. I contacted support for a refund and only get a copy and paste response every time.
I signed up for a free Graphic Design class trial with Shaw Academy. I set up a reminder to cancel on the last day of my trial. It should have gone till the next day. I've already been charged on my Debit Card thru Paypal. I specifically reached out to Support and get the same "copy and paste" email response no matter what I say. I've submitted a ticket through Paypal also. They informed me they would give me "6 months access totally free of charge worth $399" even after I told them I don't want that and I only want a refund. They said they've canceled my membership so I wont get charged again but will not refund me the original charge of $69.99 (USD). After searching online and on their website, this business is only available via email and the phone number on PayPal was in Ireland and defunct. I want this resolved, refunded, and to be ensured I will not be charged in the future.
Desired Outcome
I want this resolved, refunded, and to be ensured I will not be charged in the future.

This issue has been resolved to my satisfaction. They refunded me the $69.99 on PayPal.
I demand £120 refund for two accidentally purchased same course certificates and extended membership after I cancelled over the phone. No support yet.
Good morning.
I am shocked by the way ShwAcademy platform operates. I accidentally somehow purchased two same certificates of the same course (you just need to click one random button, I thought it would take me to another page to confirm, next thing I know - my money is gone. TWICE) By trying to reach support team due to this for THREE weeks - no response.
ON TOP OF THAT I then ran to cancel that trial and had to sit on a call for 10minutes listening to a computer how I am giving up on life by cancelling and 'click 2 if I want to give up on my goals'. I did that, I got confirmation it's cancelled and the net day £50 came off for ShawAcademy subscription. I then realised that not at any point of the call I was asked my student ID number (XXXXX) - so how are you supposed to know what account to cancel?
I demand a refund of total of £120 for the two certificates and membership extension that I cancelled.
What a disappointment as the courses are actually good and I was planning to share it with my company. I just want my money back and be done with this. I have never though this will happen as I imagined it was a reputable company.
Desired Outcome
I want someone to contact me ASAP, apologise for ignoring me, give me a full refund of £120 and THEN I will be considering to even maybe give them a second chance.

Thank you for your refund for the wrongly purchased two same certificates, however, I still did not get a refund for the extended month subscription that I cancelled three days before it was supposed to renew. I have added pictures of the proof of my log call with you number provided on the website. to prove that I did call you and cancel, instead of forgetting, as you might assume. I suspect why it wasn't cancelled (even though over the phone I got confirmation that it is, so I didn't double check on webiste!) Is because for some reason my number on my account had wrong country code and even though I tried to change it, it didn't work. And when I called to cancel I chose option that I was my account to cancel, so I assume you couldn't connect cancelation as the mobile number country codes where mismatch. I am really dissapointed in this process as here I have to perform some sort of investigations myself, BEG for my money back and prove that you system is not efficient at all. Or designed to steal people's money... At no point there was a clear step by step explanation of it all.

Shaw Academy is taking advantage of T-mobile's free trial to unfairly charge people.
I decided to use my 4-week trial from T-Mobile to Shaw Academy and it backfired. Upon making my account, I was asked the same question about getting a "toolkit" in different ways with the same "one-click purchase" button for almost all of them. On one of them I got confused and accidentally purchased one of the toolkits. I immediately e-mailed Shaw Academy and requested a refund and explained that I didn't open the toolkit. They would not give me a refund. It felt like a trick when using a new website to have multiple "one-click purchase" buttons. As a young engineer who is relatively good with computers, I feel sorry for anyone who is not good with computers or older. This website is a trick. Shaw Academy took advantage of T-Mobile clients.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund. During this pandemic, everyone needs to be saving money.

Dear student,
Regarding the Toolkit purchase, having to enter card details each time a customer wants to pay on a website could be frustrating for the customers. Shorten the process to the bare minimum and let them pay with a single click in seconds is one-click payment. This gives a smooth experience without interrupting their enjoyment of using the product. The powerful technology behind One-Click payments makes it work fast and seamlessly. You don't have to store any sensitive card data. Everything is covered securely with a token. Also, this creates a safe experience for both parties.

This was supposed to be a free class through TMobile Tuesday program. Signed up for the nutrition class and the they wanted you to buy course materials which you had to have to take the class. Requested they remove me from their database.
Received phone calls a th 3:10 am and 3:20 am to remind me my class was starting. Sent another request to remove me from their database.
On 4/21/20, my bank account was charged $69.99.
I had to cancel my card and request a new one. Everything I have on autopay has to be changed.

Account was hacked & personal information was stolen. I've contacted them 4 times. Still no resolution and they keep insisting it's not possible.
I signed up for a 30 day free trial. I did not like the content and wanted to cancel. After canceling through their site and by phone through an automated system, I find that my information has been changed on my account. I can still login through the app because I chose to the "keep me logged in" option but name, email and password were all changed so I cannot update my information. I contacted Shaw Academy about this 4 times because I, rightfully, want the account to be closed. No resolution. They also never sent me a confirmation of my cancellation like they said they were going to, so I will be charged again despite following their instructions exactly to cancel. They responded to my email inquiries once to tell me they have a great firewall that can't be hacked. This should NEVER be a response from a tech company. They clearly do not prioritize consumer data and privacy which is dangerous for a tech company in this age.
Desired Outcome
The company needs to contact me directly to close this account.

I was charged for a free trial even though the trial hadn't ended. When I attempted to cancel the website wouldn't allow me to do so.
Me and my sister had signed up for a 4-week course each. I was aware that my trial would end on April 23rd, so on the 22nd, I was attempting to cancel both our memberships. However, the website wasn't allowing me to do so. Both of the accounts specified that we had 1 day left, so I figured I would wait a few hours to attempt to cancel again. However, a few hours later I see my bank account and I was charged. I've seen other complaints from other people with similar experiences and I don't want to get stuck in a loop of emails. Hello. I'm updating this because I was given a refund after both of my accounts were cancelled, but I was charged twice again. I just saw that I was charged twice, once on May 22nd and once on June 19, a month after I confirmed that both my accounts where cancelled, and I received my refunds. I would like to get a refund once again for both of these charges (each one for $69.99) as well as a confirmation that my accounts are cancelled once and for all. The website is not allowing me to cancel my subscription anymore, and I am getting very annoyed that a month later I still am getting charged for no reason. I'm attaching all of the receipts.

However we have deactivated your active account and initiated a refund, which will be credited into the source in next 3-5 business days.
I signed for a free 4-week course and yet was charged $69.99 the day that I signed up.
I signed up for Shaw Academy on April 20, after seeing an ad on Instagram for a free 4-week course. The terms and conditions specified that I would not be charged until the end of the 4 weeks, but auto-payment would start at that point based on the credit card information I had to put in upon signup. I checked my credit card on April 21 and saw that I was wrongly charged $69.99 by Shaw Academy (the charge was initially place on April 20, so the same day that I signed up).
I immediately (on April 21) reached out to Shaw Academy to let them know I had been charged, to which they replied that they had "personally reviewed my account" and my 4-week free course was over. I had just started the free course that day, so clearly that wasn't correct, and as such I responded with that information. They then responded that they had "personally reviewed my account" and that I had "registered directly to Advanced Modules." This was also not the case, and was completely different from the first excuse for the charge. I had received no email informing me that I registered for that, no receipt was ever provided, there was no confirmation page or information what so ever during the signup process that I was going to be charge $69.99.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a full refund from the company.

signed up for free online course with shaw academy, they said I can cancel in 30days, tried to cancel after a week but online system does not allow it
a few weeks ago I signed up for a free online course with shaw academy, was asked to submit card information, but was told that I can cancel within 30days and not be charged. after a week I cancelled my enrollment, their system does not allow online cancellation and would require you to call an international number, I tried to call but their number cannot be reached. then somebody called me from their company offering me to buy other things, I requested for my enrollment and my entire account to be cancelled, they said I can only do it online, I told them about the online advise that I have to call, and requested that cancellation be made, the person said they will file a report. but last week, my card was charged for the full enrollment amount of 1,300pesos (about 25US$). during a pandemic crisis like this, that money is my grocery budget for the week, not I dont have it. im trying to call them to give me a refund but have not received any reply.
shaw academy is a scam and is designed to take the money of people automatically and not allow them to cancel.
Desired Outcome
i would like to get a full refund, and assurance that my enrollment in their online course will be cancelled, and that my account and my card will not be charged again in the future.

I attempted to cancel my free trial within the grace period but was charged anyway and then denied a refund.
I was curious about Shaw Academy's online education classes and signed up for a free trial. I quickly realized that it was not an opportunity I wanted to pursue as nothing was truly "free" about the free trial. I sent an email request to cancel and deactivate my account. I did not attend any of the scheduled classes, which should show on their records.
About a week later, I was charged $59.99. At first I assumed it was an oversight. I've dealt with a couple similar instances like this before and it was an easy fix. Instead of issuing a refund, a representative from Shaw Academy replied by saying it was not possible to do because I did not cancel within the free trial period. I replied saying that indeed I had. What transpired was truly a shock to me.
The "representative" responding to me was either not a real person, or their CSR's work from pre-scripted templates. I received the same few responses roughly five times. So, it was not a negotiation or a conversation. There was no customer service involved at all. I wanted to cancel because I did not want to pay for individual class materials within a free trial. The "representatives" kept offering me six-months worth of free classes, among other things.
It was a completely backwards and somewhat insulting response. I would not be surprised if they had an automated system that generated the same response and "offers" to refund requests. I have done my research online and this is a common practice from Shaw Academy. Whatever legitimacy their actual classes offer, it is my belief that overall Shaw Academy is a scam operation looking to nickel and dime people out of $59.99.
Shaw Academy should be ashamed of themselves. I have fallen on extremely hard times due to Covid-19. I submitted multiple cancellation requests, the first of which was within the agreed window of cancellation. They charged me anyway and refused to offer a refund even after I explained the situation and my financial hardship. Truly unacceptable and gross.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of $59.99 processed ASAP.

No. No refund has been processed. You said it was processed on April 20th but that is before my Revdex.com complaint was processed and after you told me multiple times I was not to receive a refund. The money WAS. NOT. REFUNDED. And since it was so long ago now, YOU should be able to confirm that on YOUR END. I've have never heard of Shaw Academy in my life till they took 60.00 dollars out of my bank account I tried nine times through emails to get my mone
To get my money from them and all I got was the same email asking for a login in that never existed or an email linked to that login that never existed . I send them my full name a picture of the text alert on my phone sayin they took my money. Plus last of account number a email and telephone number I could be reached it. After all that , still same email telling me to login to an account that I never created in the first place. Times are hard right now and to have them take 60.00$ out of my bank account is a scary and for them not to even try and work with me is crazy!! They need to be stopped !!!
Desired Outcome
MY MONEY BACK

Dear ***,
We understand your concern. But at the same time we also request you to check with your friends or family members whether they have registered with us or your payment details saved in their device.
We have at no point taken payments from you, or any of the 5 million students we have educated unless the student entered their payment details to a secure payment page and manually completed the transaction. In every one of our emails, landing pages, offer banners and indeed the payment page itself, we do outline that the offer presented to you was a one-month free trial which would run automatically into a monthly recurring payment if not cancelled.
You can contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for further assistance.

I have already told them that pay pal sent me nothing and that it is not on my paypal Mouthy statement.I have summited all the info asked for more then three times I believe this is a stall tactic to make me just forget about getting my money back from them . How many time must I get them the same email a picture of my bank statement showing they took money out of my account my full name . I mean this is ridiculous. I just want my money back .
I subscribed for a trial course and had to fill in my card details as a condition to register, I canceled subsequently but was debited after a month
I enrolled for a free trial course on Shaw academy online through their website on the 17th March, 2020. In order to enroll, I was asked to provide my debit card details and allow for debit o a small amount inorder to validate my card details. This was done and less than 2 dollars was deducted. It was stated that after the trial, I would be registered for a monthly fee at $69.99 but would be informed a day before this is debited. After looking through the courses offered further, it thereafter decided to cancel my subscription the same day. I did this on their website, no email was sent to acknowledged although the website indicated so. I did not suspect anything untoward because no email was also sent when I registered.
However, on the 16th April, 2020, I found that $69.99 had be deducted from my account by shaw Academy, this was without any prior notice. I made a complaint to Shaw academy customer care on 17th April, 2020 but was told they could not recognize my email on their system and I should provide details of my full name, phone number and lasr 4 digits of the card, which I provided to them. They thereafter got back that they have seen the transactions and would not be refunding me since I subscribed for the course. When I explained that I cancelled immediately and the fact they could not see my email in their systems was a further testimony to that fact they only retained my card details and I am not interested in the one month renewal or the courses offered. I was told they would not be refunding but would offer me a 6 months free and later 1 year free access to their courses. I declined these offers because I was no longer interested and that's why I cancelled my subscriptions in the first place. They said they will not refund my money. I see this as unfair and given that I was not informed as they promised to nor was my details cleared from their system when I cancelled and I should not be paying from their negligence. I am therefore bringing up his complain so they are compelled to refund my money.
Thank you
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund of $69.99 deducted from my account details.

Per their terms they charge after the trial period of 28 days. I cancelled on the 28th day but they had already charged me $69.99.
As stated above I cancelled before the trial period officially ended yet they still charged me. When I emailed them they said my trial was up and I went past 28 days. I signed up march 24th and cancelled April 21st which is 18 days exactly not past 28 days as they state. Therefore they prematurely charged me and I request a refund

I want a refund, as simple as that.

I accept as my refund was processed and received. Thank you.

I need complete refund of $59.99. I have followed the Terms and Conditions to the word. I don't want to do any more business with Shaw Academy and hence am not interested in any of the freebies that they are offering me.
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We give the highest priority to the quality of education and support to our students and we would like to make things right. You can contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for refund related assistance.
I want someone to contact me ASAP, apologise for ignoring me, give me a full refund of £120 and THEN I will be considering to even maybe give them a second chance.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
Shaw Academy is taking advantage of T-mobile's free trial to unfairly charge people.

I replied to their response and got the same exact e-mail, copied and pasted, that they had sent when I complained to them before coming to the Revdex.com. I feel like they are not taking me seriously and more importantly, I said I want a refund, not more credit for Shaw Academy who I no longer trust. I would like a refund. I really, REALLY do not want to receive the same email from them a third time.
Dear student,

This was supposed to be a free class.
There is no phone number for these people to contact with problems.
TMobile has been contacted and made aware.
I would like a refund. They will need to mail me a check as I have had to cancel my card because of them.

The company needs to contact me directly to close this account.
Dear ***,
As of now, your account is not hacked. This should be an internal glitch. It will be fixed shortly. Our technical team is working on it.
Your patience is much appreciated.

I requested my account to be closed permanently. Their response does not address this.

I got charged a lot of money and considering we're all in quarantine, this type of situation is unacceptable.
I would like to have a refund for all of the charges they made.

Hello,
Thank you very much for the prompt response. I appreciate the fact that you were able to help me. I have contacted your team and I was told about the refund. However, I have only been refunded for one of the accounts. When I tried to confirm whether both accounts would get refunded, I did not get any clear answers. I'm attaching the response that I got when I asked for confirmation. I'll be waiting for your response.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Hi ***,
We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We have reviewed your account and noticed that one of your account was still active hence the payments were processed. However we have deactivated your active account and initiated a refund, which will be credited into the source in next 3-5 business days.
Regards,
Shaw Academy
I am seeking a full refund from the company.

a few weeks ago I signed up for a free online course with shaw academy, was asked to submit card information, but was told that I can cancel within 30days and not be charged. after a week I cancelled my enrollment, their system does not allow online cancellation and would require you to call an international number, I tried to call but their number cannot be reached. then somebody called me from their company offering me to buy other things, I requested for my enrollment and my entire account to be cancelled, they said I can only do it online, I told them about the online advise that I have to call, and requested that cancellation be made, the person said they will file a report. but last week, my card was charged for the full enrollment amount of 1,300pesos (about 25US$). during a pandemic crisis like this, that money is my grocery budget for the week, not I dont have it. im trying to call them to give me a refund but have not received any reply.
shaw academy is a scam and is designed to take the money of people automatically and not allow them to cancel.
i would like to get a full refund, and assurance that my enrollment in their online course will be cancelled, and that my account and my card will not be charged again in the future.

I would like a refund of $59.99 processed ASAP.

I did not receive my refund.
Dear Student,
We had processed your refund on 20 April 2020. The amount must be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days. Our team is checking whether there was any settlement issue for the same. Meanwhile, please contact your bank to confirm whether there is any block at the bank's end.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

If you truly processed a refund that then did not go through (it didn't and I checked with my bank) you would have a record of it. Please process the refund ASAP and confirm when it has been completed. Shame on you.
Dear student,
Our team has confirmed that your refund of $59.99 was processed as per request.

Thank you
I am seeking a refund of $69.99 deducted from my account details.

Shaw Academy did not agree to refund my money. They are rather offering a 6 months access to their courses for which I had said I was not interested in.
Dear student,
As per your request we have sent your payment details to our relevant team for refund. You can also contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for any assistance.
Thank you

Per their terms they charge after the trial period of 28 days. I cancelled on the 28th day but they had already charged me $69.99.
As stated above I cancelled before the trial period officially ended yet they still charged me. When I emailed them they said my trial was up and I went past 28 days. I signed up march 24th and cancelled April 21st which is 18 days exactly not past 28 days as they state. Therefore they prematurely charged me and I request a refund
I am requesting a full refund of $69.99.
The institution refunded me the requested amount.
