Unauthorized charge for a course that seemed like a scam, company unwilling to give refund
I signed up for a 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy, and the first class I attended was nothing but a link to buy their toolkit. I tried multiple times to see if I was using the wrong browser but still, just a link to buy a product of their so I decided to leave it be and see if the next class would be the same thing. A day later I checked my bank account and saw there was a $39.95 charge from them that I had not authorized. They had my bank account information and it looked like they were doing micro deposits and withdrawals to validate my account, but $39.95 is not a small amount to withdrawal. I checked my billing statement at Shaw Academy's profile page and it showed that I had been charged for an e-certificate for a course that I did not even start and seemed very sketchy. When I confronted them about this they said that I did indeed authorize this transaction and they were unwilling to give me a refund since it was already in their books. I do not wish to do business with Shaw Academy after this encounter and will only accept a full refund.

I would like a full refund of $39.95 back into my account and for my account with Shaw Academy to be closed

An unauthorized charge was made and customer service hasn't been responsive in reversing the charge.
On April 13, 2020 I was charged $39.95 by Shaw Academy for a module toolkit. I was surprised by the charge as I hadn't put in a purchase for the toolkit. I reached out to customer support via email as they don't have a phone number on their website for support and didn't hear anything back. I was emailed billing for help and was given the following case number, #XXXXXXX. I'm waiting to hear back as they said it'll take 48 hours. I'm filing this complaint because if their track record follows, I may not get a response. I want my $39.95 to be reimbursed along with the $99.95 for the 3 month subscription as I believe that this organization is scamming people who are just trying to learn and gain new skills.

Desired Outcome

I am seek a full refund of the unauthorized $39.95 that was taken out on April 13, 2020 without my knowledge. If possible, I'd also like a partial refund of the $99.95 as well.

Representative emailed and said he cancelled my membership but I was still charged after the cancellation.
I reached out on March 19,2020 to customer service to get a refund after not being able to cancel the free trial through the provided app. I received an email from a rep named Marcas on March 20,2020 stating they could not issue a refund but that they confirmed that had cancelled the subscription and offered 6 months of access free of charge. On Friday April 17,2020 I was charged the monthly membership payment after being told in writing that the membership was cancelled. Once again I emailed the company. They sent back a generic email stating the could not give a refund because of the clearly stated policy. This is fraud as I have in writing that they charged me after one of their reps "cancelled" my membership. I intend on seeking legal action if this is not rectified.

I would like a refund for the charge on 4/17/202 after the membership was cancelled.

They charged my account $59.99 & still show my account active even though I canceled 2 days before my free trial ended.
The only way to access the courses is to register a cardnumber, however they were clear from the start that billing would not be made if the student canceled before their free trial ended. I didn't even use the trial and canceled 2 days before my trial was set to end. However, my profile still shows active and they charged me $59.99 through my PayPal. I have reported it to PayPal. This has caused my account to overdraft, now I will have fees on top of what they charged me. I have no interest in their product and I want an immediate refund. I tried to cancel AGAIN and now I am being directed to call 1-732-702-3123 and give them a code to complete cancellation. This is asinine. I attempted to call the number immediately but they are "closed".

Desired Outcome

I want my account and any account attached to me canceled, and I would like a full refund. I canceled before the trial was up as directed, they were not authorized to charge me for another 4 weeks. This activity is fraudulent. My account is now overdrawn thanks to this charge and I have bank fees associated with this on top of the $59.99 they charged me.

Shaw Academy refused to give me refund, and false advertising.
I saw an ad for a FREE program with Shaw Academy on Instagram. Out of curiosity, I clicked on link. It took me to another page where I confirmed that I was interested in the free program. It then lastly took me to a subscription confirmation, which I was confused about, as it was a free program, but clicked on it with hesitation, as it would not let me progress without doing so. I had registered with this company in the past, and they had my credit card information on file. There was nothing stated that I would be charged 60 DOLLARS on that day, as it was advertised as a free program. When the charge appeared on my credit card on that day, I emailed them immediately asking for clarification, and explaining to them that I had just signed up for a free program, so why would there be a charge? They said they would not be able to issue me a refund because the subscription information is clearly stated on the website, but there was no information that stated I would be charged, if there was, I wouldn't have signed up! This company is very deceptive and I believe this is a scam, this has been an extremely stressful experience for me. I even explained that due to Covid-19, I don't have extra money to spend and that I only clicked because it said it was FREE!

Throught Facebook they offered one month free subscription, bit with in one week they charged my account. I sent a email to support . They replied they won't return money.

After relentless of follow-ups and charge back on paypal they have refunded money.

Did not get a refund.
I have just gotten the free one-month trail. However, I was just charged saying I purchased "the toolkit" which I have NEVER purchased. I have contacted them, but haven't heard back. I would like them to refund me for that purchase, for I was wrongly billed. This is absolutely ridiculous. Below I attached my billing receipt, for something I never purchased.

Shaw Academy charged me for a "Toolkit" that I did not buy and then removed the class from my account so I couldn't take the class it was for.
Shaw Academy charged me for a "toolkit" for a class that I did not buy. That class was a beauty class that they then removed from my account so I could not even finish taking the classes for it. When I contacted them (on 4/16/20) about it they did not put the class back on my account they simply responded with a form letter saying that COVID-19 was causing issues with their service. I still do not have access to the class but I have a "Toolkit" for it they they charged me $39.95 on 4/16/20 for, the day the class was removed from my account. When I sent them a message about the charge (also on 4/16/20) they responded the next day saying "Once the Toolkit is activated in your account it is made available to you and we have transferred the content to you hence it cannot be disabled as it was provided therefore, we cannot refund." I did not purchase the toolkit, I did not authorize them to charge my credit card for it so I deserve to get a refund. The "Toolkit" is useless to me if I can't take the class as it is for the class and I did not purchase it. It seems wrong that they can charge you for something then remove the class it is for from your account and do nothing to resolve the issue.

I would like a refund for the full amount that was charged for the "Toolkit" because I did not authorize that purchase and they removed the class from my account that it was for so it is a useless document.

Will not process refund even though services not used

I signed up for a free course at the beginning of the corona virus outbreak in March. I signed up as a consumer with a new life goal to try and change my career and improve myself. It would not let me sign up without entering payment details and that should have been a red flag.
Soon after I signed up, I became very unwell, and I was unable to take any of the classes I had signed up to do and had initially been so keen for. Obviously because of the current way of the world, my health, finances and family came first and I was too unwell to cancel my subscription in time. I explained in an email that I had been unwell, and I also expressed that the payment taken would be my grocery bill for myself and child for the week. I was refused a refund and even refused anymore than a stock email reply.
For a company that claims so emphatically to want to help people better themselves to knowingly force a family into poverty over its absolute refusal to budge from terms and conditions that were written for what is now an entirely different climate is outrageous. Your company lacks compassion *** any moral compass. Given the exceptional circumstances surely a refund can be granted. I appreciate being given offers of extra learning, but that doesn't provide food and nappies next week. Absolutely shocking customer care or compassion, avoid at all costs.

Desired Outcome

I would like to receive a refund of £49.95 as I have not used any of their services or classes at all, not even during the free trial period.

Call to cancel membership before end of trial failed. Require refund for the entirely unused membership that I was charged for.
I started a 30-day free trial that must be canceled by April 13th, 2020 or my card would be billed. The only method of canceling a subscription, according to the ShawAcademy website, is by call during particular times on weekdays. No alternative way of canceling was provided by ShawAcademy, and they explicitly REQUIRED a call.

I proceeded to call Monday, April 9th, before the date of my credit card charge. However, the call was not picked up. With their call center not contactable during the times of stated availability, and no alternative form of contact provided, ShawAcademy effectively made it impossible to cancel my subscription.

I have not accessed ShawAcademy course content since the end of my trial, which should be visible by my account activity history.

I emailed ShawAcademy for support on the 16th.

Desired Outcome

For my entirely unused membership, I demand a full refund of the amount charged to my credit card.

An unauthorized transaction was processed by shaw academy AFTER I emailed them on time to cancel my "subscription." They still charged me anyway
Their only form of communication is through email. I sent this email out before my deadline was due from the free subscription. One of their team members responded saying I had nothing to worry about and I had nothing further to do since my subscription was no longer valid. Also, he said I would not be charged. I was. I have the emails to show proof. They are not responding other than with automated messages now.

Refussal to refund money after a free trial. After I was told I would be given a heads up.
I tried to cancel my trial. While trying to cancel, the site let me know that they would send an email prior to the trial ending. Therefore I should explore the site more and perhaps find what I am searching for.
This sounded ok. In my exploration of their site, I found that their products would not fit my needs. I set a reminder about the trial and watched my email. When it was up, I went to cancel, but found I had already been charged. They never sent that elusive email reminder they promised either. When I promptly asked for a refund, I was smuggly denied bc I had "signed" and acknowledgement. Yes I agree that is so, but it was under false pretenses.
This company is shady. They need to be stopped from defrauding people. I can't be the only one

Incorrectly billed for 2 months now of premium subscription despite lifetime membership since March 11. Emailed them dozens of times since, no reply.
I had signed up for a free-trial with Shaw Academy that was stated to end on March 14, 2020. On March 11, 2020 I had upgraded my student account to lifetime membership. Both their website and app correctly reflected my upgraded lifetime membership status as of March 11, 2020 for numerous consecutive days. That should have been the end of the monthly tuition charges from them.

But on March 20, I found out from my bank that I had been erroneously charged another month of premium membership of 59.99 USD on March 15. When I signed into my school account to screenshot proof of the error to their billing department for some issue on their part, my account was no longer showing as a lifetime member but as a premium monthly membership. I went back to my old email confirmation of lifetime membership and clicked the link again to see what had happened, and it again updated my account to the correct lifetime member. I emailed their billing department about this issue, and the billing mistake they'd made, and requested a refund on March 20. I have emailed them repeatedly since without getting a single response from them beyond telling me they were having an issue finding my account and repeatedly asking for the same information before they could help me. I have replied to all information request and have not gotten anywhere. I have opened multiple emailed requests for help, and have been asked multiple times to rate how their customer service was in resolving my issue. I have replied to these that in fact, my issue was not addressed nor resolved in the slightest and I am still waiting to speak to a single person from their entire company.

Moreover, I found out today that not only are they not going to address the erroneous March charge, but have continued to erroneously charge me a second time, at an even higher premium rate than the month prior, 69.99USD on April 16. Again, I logged back into the account I wasn't even using anymore that many times now I had checked and rechecked to ensure it reflected my lifetime membership, was yet again incorrectly showing I was on a premium monthly trial again.

I have received numerous incorrect charges from Shaw in the past. Specifically issues with their email promotions saying one price but my bank statements showing more. I have an email correspondence from March 4 - 10 with Shaw support asking for clarification on the amount I was charged for my hard copy diploma that 6 weeks now I still have not received. I asked him why the email promo I was sent stated they were holding a promotional offer on hard copy diplomas at the lower price of 19.99USD. When I checked my bank it showed that the amount for the diploma that was pending was actually 49.99USD and not the 19.99USD that I was quoted. When I checked my bank again after the transaction had been finalized, the actual end amount I was charged for the diploma was in total 57.07USD. When I emailed Shaw regarding the 37.08 USD difference from what they had advertised to me directly, I was simply told that diplomas cost 49.99 and that the difference was likely international bank charges. No response at all about their own marketing email falsely giving me an incorrect price but charging another much higher price. That is false advertising.

Shaw has exhibited completely untrustworthy business practices in the way they bombard me with inaccurate marketing spam, charge higher prices than their promos state, increase prices without notice, their system is faulty in repeatedly switching my lifetime subscription back to premium monthly without notice, and their complete absence of customer support in stonewalling all my emails for assistance with the matter, and not having a phone number I can call to speak with any representative at all from their company in over 2 months now that I have been seeking to peacefully resolve this issue.

While I feel I am owed so much more from what Shaw Academy has scammed from me over the period of 4 months now and all the time and stress they've taken and caused me, and the pre-paid diploma I had invested in and intended to pursue until their complete lack of customer support and evasion ruined any redeeming qualities I thought the school had. I have already cancelled my account with them as of today despite the lifetime membership investment, due to the likely system error continuing again endlessly with billing mistakes and no way to contact their customer support again. Even the phone number I was told I needed to call to "confirm the cancellation" was only a pre-recorded line that prevented me from having a real conversation with anyone regarding this whole issue. Not to mention the shameless, patronizing statements repeated to me over and over again in a 4 minute phone call asking me repeatedly if I really wanted to "give up on my dreams?". As it has been 6 weeks now since their customer support confirmed to me that my diploma had been posted and sent, I assume that it actually was never posted and can't expect to see that without further stonewalling from their customer support. I am seeking from Shaw Academy a refund for the cost of that falsely advertised hard copy diploma I have not received, and a refund for the past 2 monthly subscription charges that I should not have been charged anyways with my lifetime subscription. That is: 57.07 US dollars from March 5 for a diploma that was advertised as 19.99 USD, and 6 weeks now have still not received, 59.99 US dollars from March 16 erroneously premium membership charge, and 69.99 US dollars from April 16 erroneously premium membership charge. That is a full amount of 187.05 US dollars that I was incorrectly charged for 2 months of premium subscription use despite having had a lifetime subscription this entire time, and a diploma I have not received.

My case dealing with Shaw Academy has 100% not been responded to in the least. I have been trying to get in touch with anyone from this company for 7 weeks now, all stemming from a small problem that has gotten bigger and bigger due to their complete lack of customer service. I have sent more than a dozen emails, opened multiple query requests, and even emailed their so called "priority support team" as they requested, but from ALL of that I have not heard back FROM A SINGLE PERSON. Even the phone number they require you to call to cancel their incorrect and exorbitant monthly charges, is just an automated recording asking you over and over in the most unprofessional and condescending way if "you're really ready to give up on your future." I have been bombarded with spam marketing that quotes incorrect prices, for products that have never arrived or did not take effect, and charged increasing "premium rate" monthly tuition without notice, despite having upgraded to their so called lifetime membership.

I am completely irate about the way Shaw has handled this whole situation that would have been easily dealt with 7 weeks ago if they had just replied to my first query.

DO NOT BUY INTO THIS "SCHOOL" ! IT IS A SCAM. WHAT PROPER BUSINESS DOESN'T HAVE A PHONE NUMBER OR ANY OTHER WAY TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THEM FOR QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AT ANY CHANCE, ADVERTISE ONE PRICE BUT CHARGE MUCH MUCH MORE, AND CONTINUE TO FIND WAYS TO TAKE YOUR MONEY, WITHOUT ANYONE TO HELP OR EXPLAIN.

I registered for free course, clicked on it to look at the info and they charged me 45$? Nowhere did they asked me to confirm this charge!
They don't show you what payement you are using on there site and they charge you things without letting you confirm or accept anything?! They have access to my paypal and charged me 45$ for a toolbox after I clicked on the link to have info on what it is! I don't even use this, was just curious on what course I could take since I have a lot of free time theses days. Shaw Academy steal from customers by hiding payement confirmations and saying they do not offer refunds! They can clearly see that I never use their site or course program but only offered to delete my account but not give back the money they wrongfully charged on my paypal account! I am really disappointed about the customer service and everything! Futur customers beware, I will never recommend them to nobody!

I was charged twice without my authorization by Shaw Academy, for a total of $129.98. I requested a refund but they have refused.
I noticed a charge on my account on April 17th from Shaw Academy that I did not authorize for $69.99 made on April 4th. I requested a refund because I had not signed up for any courses and my account wasn't even active. They have me a reference #XXXXXXX for that request. They replied that they would not be giving me a refund because their policy was made available to me, except I did not sign up for their services. They also said that they would cancel my account for me but when I went to the website to verify the situation on 4/19, my account was listed as Active and at that point I saw another charge made on March 4 for $59.99. Again, I was not made aware of this and I did not authorize this. I have since sent another email today requesting a refund of both payments with reference #XXXXXXX. I am waiting for their reply to this now urgent and pressing matters since that is money that I needed to survive the stay at home orders currently in effect for my state. All correspondence was signed with "Shaw Academy Team" , no specific persons name was given.

The company promises to send an email when you trial is almost completed. Their system did not and I got charged.
When signing up for their platform, it is indicated that this is a free trial and you will receive an email a few days before your trial is ending so you can decide if you want to proceed. Their system never sent me an email, I got charged. I went in to try to cancel the day after I was charged, their system would not do it online, made me call a annoying IVR and listen to a computer try to "convince" me not to cancel for 10 minutes straight. I have attempted to get a refund from their customer service and they are refusing, still trying to get me to stay with their platform.

Shaw Academy refused to issue a refund for an account they had assured me was cancelled and that I would not be billed for.
I signed up for a free trial with Shaw Academy just over 4 weeks ago. After signing up and entering my credit card information (necessary for the free trial) I realized I had missed the period in my email address so I could not receive any notifications. I tried to log in to my account but the password *** not seem to be working. And of course I couldn't receive a reset password *** because the email I had used was invalid. So at this point I was stuck, knowing that in 4 weeks, I would be billed the monthly fee, but I couldn't access my account at all. I emailed Shaw Academy from the correct email address and they finally called me and said that they had merged this incorrect account with my new account (one I created using the correct email address). They assured me that the account with the incorrect email address had been cancelled and deleted and that I would not be billed. I took them at their word, seeing as I couldn't log in and verify myself, but after 4 weeks on April 12th, I noticed that the monthly charge of $69.99 from them had come through on my credit card. (This was not the monthly charge for my new account - I still had a month of free trial left on that account.) I emailed them right away and explained that the incorrect account should have already been cancelled and that their representative had assured me that it was cancelled 4 weeks ago and that I would not be billed. Now they are refusing to acknowledge that this was their mistake and they are refusing to issue a refund. I am so frustrated and feel like I've been lied to, taken advantage of and swindled out of my money. They don't even have a phone number that I can call to speak with someone about this. I just have to keep hoping they get my emails and actually respond. They have given no good reason for not issuing the refund and they are not standing by their word that they had cancelled my account and that I wouldn't be billed. This is completely unacceptable and unethical.

I would like the full monthly fee amount to be refunded to my card immediately.

As requested by Shaw Academy, I emailed them from the email address associated with my account. I sent the email over 3 days ago and I still have not received a response. This is completely unacceptable and it now appears they are stalling for time. This business needs to be shut down. They are shamelessly stealing people's money.

The WORST e-learning experience EVER. I had a free trial, and unsubscribed before my trial ended. It took forever to cancel and they charged me today.
I've subscribed for a free trial, never used any of the services. I've cancelled in advance before my trial ended, but I was charged $70 CAD today. like ***? It took forever to unsubscribe, all their calling and communication methods are really annoying!!!

Desired Outcome

Return my money, I've never used your services, and I had a free trial.
