I signed up for a 4 week free trial but canceled the day after signing up. A month later I was still charged for the services.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial but decided to cancel the day after I signed up. I jumped through hoops as they make you do in order to cancel so I believed it was taken care of. A month later I still got charged and after reaching out to them about a refund they send me a generic email stating the terms and conditions I had signed up under. I don't think they even read my email because I clearly stated I cancelled after a day and they are saying I didn't cancel within the trial period. I never even got any email regarding my prior cancellation or even receipt after my card was charged. I have not been able to get in contact with an actual human person over the phone. This company lacks communication skills.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking that the company refunds my money and makes sure my account is cancelled so I don't have to go through this again

I have been trying to cancel a free trial for weeks and have been unsuccessful. I have now been charged and am not getting a response from the company
I signed up for a free trial to test the service. After a couple of weeks, but within the trial period, I started the process of trying to cancel due to dissatisfaction. I attempted this on the website and was directed to call customer service. When I called I was directed to email the company. I did that and the only response I received was a request to fill out a survey. Since then I have been charged $60 by them and still am unable to cancel. I am seeking full refund of the charge and my plan canceled.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund for the amount I have been charged for the subscription. This should not have been charged as I made multiple attempts to cancel before the time period they offered for a trial ended.

Hi ***,
Thank you for reaching out and thank you also for registering with Shaw Academy to begin with to learn new skills.
I have personally reviewed your account and found that you had subscribed using your debit/credit card/payment method and availed of a 4-week free trial after which payment would be made. All aspects of this were made clear at registration, within your member's area and via communications. Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership. Click Here(https://www.shawacademy.com/terms/) to review the same in particular section 4 and 5.
Our free trial model allows us to bring down the cost of education globally and reach large numbers of students all over the world who want, need and deserve to learn new skills. This free trial model is similar to what the likes of Netflix, Spotify and all other subscription providers offer.

Attempts were made to cancel the trial previous to the end date. I have email proof of this. I attempted to cancel directly online and was directed to call for verification of cancelation. After a lengthy automated system I was directed to email for cancelation. I did this and was met with an unsatisfactory response that directed me to go through the same steps I had already taken. The attached email shows the welcome email received on 03/06/20 and the cancelation request made on 3/30/20. This is a difference of 24 days, nearly a full week within the end of the trial period. The level of customer service is horrible. Shaw Academy made it virtually impossible to cancel.
Won't allow me to cancel and will charge my credit card
I have tried multiple ways to cancel my membership. I've canceled through the app, online, by phone, by email. It all just sends you in an automated loop and won't actually cancel membership. And it doesn't allow people to remove their payment method. Shady practices to not allow people to cancel and criminally charge their credit card.
Desired Outcome
I just want my membership cancelled before they charge my credit card

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
Huge scam! Tricking people with a free trial & then not letting anyone cancel sends you in a loop of calls&emails, unauthorized charging, fake diploma
There are numerous ways they are scamming people:
1. They make it impossible to cancel your account. You go round and round in circles, through a link on the website, eventually referring you to call a number, and after 20mins+ on hold, you are referred to a robot telling you to go back to the website.
2. After a long phone call of endless loops of pre-recorded messages, they then require you to email to cancel, but instead of cancelling they just reply with an automated email telling you to not quit then no longer respond when you tell them you still want to cancel.
3. Others managed to email and get a response that it has been canceled but find out 1, 2 even 3 months down the line that they are still being charged.
4. You are being charged for 'checking out a toolkit', but then clicking on it means you get charged automatically without knowing and only find out later when checking your bank or PayPal that you have been charged.
5. You buy the Toolkit and then never receive it.
5. Their e-certificates are fake.
The professional diploma courses of Shaw Academy were accredited with 10 credit units by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) through validation of Edinburgh Napier University.17 They are on the European Qualifications Framework, a reference network for the comparability of national educational standards,18 and therefore, amongst others, comparable to 10 credit units achieved through Higher National Diploma, foundation degree, Diploma of Higher Education or an associate degree in the US.
It's not recognised anywhere and when emailing SCQF or the Edinburgh Napier University is says they are no longer affiliated with them since July 2019 and have asked them numerous times to remove their credentials from the certificates.
However, people are still being scammed even in April 2020.
This page has now got over 1.3k members who have all been scammed by Shaw Academy and they are still continuing to scam people!!

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
Support will not help me cancel my free trial and is now ignoring me.
I signed up for a 4 week long free trial but within an hour decided I already had too much on my plate. I went through the membership area of my account to cancel. It made me click through page after page of saying that yes I did want to cancel before finally giving me a number to call.
I called the number and had to listen to a pre recording and click different buttons multiple times to repeatedly state I wanted to cancel. At the end it tells me to email the academy to cancel and just hangs up.
So I email support and they simply tell me to start the process over again. I responded to that email twice and another email with my complaints and how I already went through that cancellation process only to be ignored.
I want this scam canceled before the trial ends and they charge my card.
Desired Outcome
I want my free trial/subscription canceled.

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
Shaw Academy has made it practically impossible to close an account, thus they make it so that they will charge you dispite any efforts mad .
On 4/4, I tried to delete my account online. It had me go through page after page of confirmations, only to be told to call. I waited until Monday to call, and it sent me through menu option after menu option of more confirmations. When I thought I'd finally reached the end, it said all deletion and cancellation requests had to be emailed to an address that was quickly said before being hung up on. I have since emailed 4 different departments and have only received automated messages back. I have seen other people online have similar issues, and even get charged again, even after their subscription was cancelled. During these times, I cannot afford what they would cost me if I do not get through to them.
My account is associated with the email ***@gmail.com.
Desired Outcome
I want them to cancel my account and take my payment information out of their system. I also want them to stop giving everyone the runaround when they try to cancel their subscription. If they have to email, say that when they first try. Don't say to fill out a page online to be told to call, then call to be told to email.

I appreciate that the company cancelled my subscription. However, I cannot say yes to this question if the company continues to have this long, drawn our process to cancel.
Customer service reply time and resources are terrible and customers are charged for products they do not want or intend of purchasing.
I signed up for a free trial course on April 2nd, 2020, I input my credit card information as it stated I would not be charged but it is a way to prevent fraud, but within minutes I felt like cancelling, so I clicked to cancel my subscription. A messaged appeared to call a Canadian support phone number to cancel. After spending several minutes listening to automated voice messages it finally brought me to the last prompt saying that I need to email "***@shawacademy.com" to cancel (giving me a go around). Ridiculous to be wasting my time. So I emailed saying I wanted it cancelled and noticed that within minutes my credit card was charged multiple times for things I did not order.A value of $34.95. No one got back to me until the next day and only addressed my "cancel comment", not my other inquires. Before that response I had received an email reminder that my class was starting the next day. I replied back saying that I requested for my trial to be cancelled and my money refunded and I wasn't sure what I was being charged for. I got a response later saying that it would be cancelled, but I cannot get a refund because I clicked to download a toolkit. Not sure what happened as I scrolled through the page but apparently they automatically charge you when accidentally clicking on the web page. I asked for clarification and still have not heard back. They only offered to give me a credit for other resources but I wanted nothing to do with them based on how they were handling the situation and their lack of response times.
Unique ID number #XXXXXXX.It's been 5 days and I still have not had a resolution explained to me. I wanted to make sure my credit card information was removed from the site to ensure it wouldn't be charged again but looks like it is still there. They are very unprofessional and need a better way for their customers to get in touch with them, and not be given a go around for answers. I feel very frustrated to be charged for something I didn't ask for or use.
One of my email conversation is attached. I used my email: ***@gmail.com to create my account.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks!
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund for a product I did not purposely download or had any recollection of downloading. I did not even access the material. I would also like for the customer service attendant to actually respond to me with a proper resolution or at least a confirmation. It seems like I am being ignored. I have attached one email correspondence for reference.
I emailed 4 different departments, Support, Billing, Cancellation, and I replied back to a reminder email (for a class I had specifically requested to be cancelled). I only heard back from 2 emails.

Charged without giving notice. Excessive effort needed to cancel.
4/3/2020-4/7/2020
Paid Via Debit Card
Signing up for a supposed "free 4 weeks of college courses"
They've taken me from the original cancelation page, to a phone number required to confirm cancellation that is answered by a bot that has the capacity to remain on at all times, yet is restricted access during the weekend. From the phone number I am then sent to email about the cancellation. Which then does not cancel or confirm the cancelation, but rather merely sends in a support ticket. This is an absolute maddening process of cancelation. And not only that i've been secretly changed 1.50 for card confirmation? Because it needed to be confirmed 3 times? This company is a borderline scam.
Desired Outcome
I want the company to warn the newcomers of the arduous cancellation process before they make any payment. I can easily see people attempting to cancel a week before their next payment and due to the needlessly restricted times you can call, and the lengthy process of cancellation, being charged. I also want my money back. They charged me 1.50 after claiming that the courses would be free, and did not let me know when or that they would do such a thing.

Despite continuing correspondence with customer service confirming cancellation of my account, the company has billed me twice after cancellation.
I signed up for the 40 day free trial of the graphic design course in February, but after a couple of days realized it's too difficult to continue as we just had our 2nd baby.
A student advisor reached out and I expressed this concern. The representative assured me that I could easily cancel at anytime and encouraged me to give it a shot.
After missing all the scheduled classes for several weeks, I received an email from a Shaw academy representative named William Eames informing me that my membership had been cancelled As of March 2nd.
On March 4th we were billed $59.99 despite being previously informed of the cancellation. I then reached out via email on March 31st to reconfirm the cancellation and requested to speak with a live representative.
After going through all the hoops the company has set for people to cancel, (sending emails, visiting members portal, calling the automated line, and circling back again) I finally got word back through email confirming her cancellation.
I then sent another email requesting a refund for the unauthorized charge and received no response.
Fast forward to April 6th and we received yet another charge, this time for $69.99.
Once again, we attempted to get ahold of customer support and there was no reply. I am requesting full refunds of both unauthorized withdrawals.
Desired Outcome
I am requesting a full refund of the two charges- one for $59.99 and one for $69.99 totaling $129.98.
I am also requesting that the company send no further charges to my bank account.

The messaging system keeps on talking & talking until it finally says an email needs to be sent. This is to try to make people not wait on the phone & than not be able to cancel. I had to stay ont he phone for 5 minutes before it provided the email to cancel the free subsciption. My email address is ***@gmail.com & phone number (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.
An unauthorized charge was made on my card even after cancelling my membership 3 weeks prior to the due date.
After noticing a pending transaction on my Paypal account for a Shaw Academy premium membership, I emailed them to make sure my membership was cancelled before the amount was due. I sent the email on 04/03/2020 and was still charged the next day on 04/04/2020. I had already cancelled my membership around 3 weeks prior on 03/08/2020. They sent me a confirmation email that I had cancelled my membership and was losing access to all benefits within 3 days after receiving that email. I thought that was the end of it. However, they decided to charge me 3 weeks after cancelling it. I demanded a refund but they said that since I didn't cancel during the 4-week trial, they have the right to refuse a refund. My trial began on 02/10/2020 and I cancelled my membership within the 4-week trial on 03/08/2020. Yet, they still claim that I did not cancel my membership within the trial period.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a full refund for this month and a COMPLETE cancellation of my membership with the business.

Hello,
I'm just emailing to inform you that the company has reached out to me directly and the issue has been resolved. Thank you.
I have been trying to get a refund for 2 months with absolutely no real support options. I keep sending emails and getting computer generated emails b
I was charged 49.99 for classes or whatever that I didn't attend or want. I reached out to Shaw immediately. I have not received any "human" or meaningful response just computer generated emails telling me they don't recognize my email address. Yet they have sent several computer generated emails telling me that I missed class to the same email I used to file my complaint. I have sent multiple emails with screenshots showing the charge on my PayPal account along with screenshots of the emails I was sent regarding "missed" classes to verify that the email I'm using is the same email they have. I have NO ability to log in to Shaw acadamy. There is also not contact info so I can talk to a human being just computer generated emails that offer me no resolution. Then I get an email from them asking me to take give feedback regarding their support. WHAT SUPPORT?!? I'm still trying to get some support since February. I've been sending emails since February it's April and NOT 1 human being has reached out to me regarding this issue despite the numerous emails and request it's just computer generated emails telling me they can't verify my email. I just want my money back. A process that should have taken a week is now going into 3 months and this is ridiculous.
Desired Outcome
I just want my money back

On 21 of March, I signed up for a free trial at Shaw Academy. To get this trial, I had to enter my credit card information. I logged in to check out the website, but accedintaly hit a button that said one-click purchase. I realized that I accedintaly purchased a toolkit. I have sent over 10 emails to the email provided on the website for customer service to cancel my trial and get a refund at ***@shawacademy.org. I got a ticket number #XXXXXXX and only recieved generated responces after that. I called their number and the answering machine goes in loops and eventually tells you to contact them by email for cancellation. I was also charged six times for validation charges of 0.50 cents each. On March 21, I was charged 3 validation charges. And on March 22, I was charged for the toolkit and 3 other validation charges.

I enrolled in their free 4 week trial, they refuse to cancel my membership and charged me $34.99 for a diploma, I did not order.
I enrolled in their free trial program. I attended my first class March 31st. I quickly realized the content was not what I was looking for. I immediately attempted to cancel. I followed the directions on the website, which directed me to call a number. It would ring several times and then hang up. The next day I called and the recorded message advised me to email ***@shawacadrmy.com I did this, I received several emails indicating they could not find my email address. I sent them a screenshot of an email from them, with my email address as well as my name and phone number. This has not been resolved, additionally I apparently have purchased a diploma from them, they charged my credit card another charge, for what I have no idea. The consistently send me emails that I have missed classes, which I never signed up for and aren't even on my membership profile. I received an email I missed the one and only class I took, an hour after I took the class. I have been in contact with my bank and VISA. VISA would prefer the refund route to debiting their merchant account and wish to see every avenue exhausted. I have been informed, if this issue continues to happen with this particular company, a review of their merchant terms will be done. I urge others with the same problems to contact VISA or Mastercard. I gave Shaw until Friday at end of day, 3 days of back and forth emails, to close my free trial and refund my money. I am beyond frustrated.
Desired Outcome
Refund the money for a bogus diploma and cancel my free trial with a guarantee I will not be billed additionally.

An unwanted charge for their toolkit product during 4 week trial period
I signed up for their 4 week trial period on their Leadership and Management courses. I was perusing through the site and wanted to click on the change class date and time other than the purchase toolkit. The purchase toolkit and e-certificate is a one-click purchase that is placed on their main page under the Class Schedule box. I accidently clicked on the toolkit and immediately contacted customer service explaining that this was an accident and I did not want to purchase the toolkit especially during my trial period. If I decide to move forward with the course program I will then proceed to purchase the kit. I requested for them to cancel or refund my credit card back the correct amount. Let's be clear; I've yet to click on the toolkit and activate and I relayed this in my email message to customer service. I signed up for this trial period on Friday, April 4th and I've now cancelled the membership after taking the first class because this does not fit my needs. As I stated in my previous correspondence with customer service, "what use would it be for me to purchase a toolkit during a trial period if I am not full aware if I want to move forward with the program?" Why request for purchase of these products during a trial period? This should be given only if the consumer decides to resume with the course program.
I went back into my membership just to see if the cancellation went through and it is still showing "in-trial". I then again requested to cancel the membership, only to be told to call and confirm. This should also be automatic as well; you can automatically process my card, you should automatically cancel the trial membership.
Also, I do not recall in their disclaimer information that "other"products (i.e. toolkit and e-certificate) was not nonrefundable. The only thing they stated prior to adding in the payment information that the membership fee is not non-refundable and they will notify you before your trial period ends, after the trial period and you do not cancel they will charge your credit card.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund for the accidental purchase of the toolkit and to completely cancel this membership. I've went in twice today April 5th and noticed that it is still showing "in-trial".

After cancelling my membership and sending multiple requests to Shaw Academy to delete my account and personal details, they still have not done so
Dear Revdex.com Team,
I have cancelled my free-trial membership on the 03/04/2020 with Shaw Academy, halfway through my trial period. I have not received a confirmation email about the cancellation. When I contacted the Customer Support Team, I have not received an answer to my inquiry, they just pointed out where to cancel it.
Then I requested then the removal of my account and all my personal information from their database. After requesting it multiple times, the Customer Support Team still has not done it, they are replying with the same template email that I still have my free trial, they would like me to stay. I attach the exchanged emails.

I signed up for their course on April 5th, 2020 and according to their site, I could cancel my subscription anytime. This is false, because I am unable to do so. They are making me jump through loopholes to contact them but nobody is addressing my request properly. I gave them my credit card (PC Financial Mastercard) information and they will charge my $69.99 at the end of my free trial if I don't cancel. This is set up like a scam and I am furious. I am going to call my bank and cancel my credit card if this doesn't get resolved soon. On April 2, 202 I reached out to the company for a subscription refund after I cancelled it due to inadequate use and limited funds. Refund of subscription and cancellation of subscription.
According to Shaw Academy terms and conditions, students can have a free trial period before subscribing to paid membership. I didn't receive any notifications about my subscription to be ending soon. I wasn't really pleased with the content; it is very different from what is promoted. I was harassed multiple times in WhatsApp, messages and emails about courses and starting time which is not acceptable. Later on, I saw same unsatisfactory feedbacks about academy from other people as well. Trying to contact them before end of my trial period, their phone numbers are never answered and attempts to cancel membership is followed by automated marketing content to continue with their courses. I emailed to them to request for refund regarding unsatisfactory service and instead they are trying to give me free 6 months' access which I never asked for. I would like this to be resolved and get refund.
Desired Outcome
I would like to get full refund 69.99$ and cancellation of subscription.

I am seeking that the company refunds my money and makes sure my account is cancelled so I don't have to go through this again
Dear Student,
As per your request we had cancelled your subscription and have also processed your refund.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
In terms of processing a refund, unfortunately, this is not something we can do as the free trial was made available to you as per the terms and conditions you agreed to upon registration and the revenue has been recognized as per our revenue recognition policies.

The second thing: let's go back to your goals for a moment, you joined with serious goals. You took the time to sign up, you selected your course and then most likely life got in the way as it so often does. I want to solve this as your goals are important to me.
What I am going to do is to provide you with 6 months access*** totally free of charge worth $399 as I want to and am going to turn this into a positive right now.

Cancel my membership during this free trial like I've repeatively asked, and never charge me for anything because I have not purchased anything and do not want to have a membership!
I want them to cancel my account and take my payment information out of their system. I also want them to stop giving everyone the runaround when they try to cancel their subscription. If they have to email, say that when they first try. Don't say to fill out a page online to be told to call, then call to be told to email.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 09-Apr-2020 08:58
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Thanks!
Dear Student,

We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We give the highest priority to the quality of education and support to our students and we would like to make things right.
Card confirmation charges are automatically reversed once the confirmation is complete. If you still have not received the same, you can contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for refund related assistance.

I am requesting a full refund of the two charges- one for $59.99 and one for $69.99 totaling $129.98. I am also requesting that the company send no further charges to my bank account.

I've been trying to cancel the free subscription that I had signed up for yesterday with no luck getting through to a person on the phone.
I signed up for the free 4-week course yesterday. My PayPal better not be charged because I will take legal matters if it does. Email has been sent as well to ***@shawacademy.com requesting to cancel.
Confirmation that it has been cancelled & that I will not be charged or as stated above I will be taking legal matters. Email has been sent as well to ***@shawacademy.com requesting to cancel.
I just want my money back

request for refund due to the site's one-click purchase buttons. there are no customer services representatives to be contacted.
I want a confirmation of cancellation , a refund for my accidental purchase due to the one-click purchase button, and a refund for the six validation charges. The email that I used to register is: ***@gmail.com

Thank you
I enrolled in their free 4 week trial, they refuse to cancel my membership and charged me $34.99 for a diploma, I did not order.

I want a refund for the accidental purchase of the toolkit and to completely cancel this membership. I've went in twice today April 5th and noticed that it is still showing "in-trial".

As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 08-Apr-2020 16:47

I am afraid of scam as Shaw Academy has my credit card details and many consumers are complaining about being charged even after they cancelled their subscription.
Please delete my account, my personal information including my credit card details from their database and send a confirmation email about it.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 07-Apr-XXXX XX:XX
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I signed up for Shaw Academy's 4 week free trial and now they are not giving me the option to cancel the trial and have my credit card information.
When I checked under Billing Information, they charged my card $3.00 with what they called a "validation charge" after telling me I was not going to have to pay anything for the first month.
I want my subscription CANCELLED and no payments to be withdrawn from my account!
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 07-Apr-2020 15:34

I have explained to the company I no longer have use for their services and with th current global crisis, funds are low so I need the refund.
On April 2, 202 I reached out to the company for a subscription refund after I cancelled it due to inadequate use and limited funds. The next day they replied with a long email coming up with every reason in the book why it isn't possible. Given the global COVID-19 crisis, I have been out out of work and need all funds, regardless of how big or small. For them not to understand that most definitely makes me not want to use there services any longer.
Full refund and account deletion
Dear Student,

Trying to cancel subscription
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
I would like to get full refund 69.99$ and cancellation of subscription.
