I want you to cancel my subscription, before the trail is over. I have done all the procedures and still my subscription hasn't been cancel.
I want you to cancel my subscription, I have done all the procedures and still my subscription hasn't been cancel. I have been trying for a whole week this will be the second week attempting to cancel my subscription, I have send emails y made the calls to only find an operator saying the same thing each time. I want my subscription CANCEL before the trail is over, if not I will be obligated to take other measures. I don't want a single cent remove from my bank account.

Desired Outcome

The solution is simple, cancel my subscription, I don't want a single cent remove from my bank account account.

Shaw Academy Response • Apr 24, 2020

Dear Student,

As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 07-Apr-2020 08:08

Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I registered the free trial with Shaw Academy on 03/31/20. I am trying to cancel my free trial and need a definitive person to get in contact with.
My name is *** and I entered card information for Shaw Academy to register for their free trial member ship. I am cancelling about 3 weeks before the trial actually ends, but want to do so since I won't be able to use the service. Before registration, it was clearly stated that you would be able to cancel the trial, but upon trying, I have just been misled by various emails that say that an employee will be in touch but still haven't gotten any help. In addition, there is no way to remove my card information that I have linked to my account meaning they could still take money out off my account even though I'm trying to cancel it, which has happened to other customers that have complained. At the rate that is going now, it seems like I won't be able to actually get any customer service from employees at Shaw Academy other than vague emails and caused me to turn here. I'm afraid that if I don't definitively cancel my trial, I will be falsely charged for a service that I am trying to cancel. I am trying to avoid any false charges to my bank account by just cancelling way before the trial is actually done. Thank you.

Desired Outcome

The resolution that I am seeking is contact from a Shaw Academy customer service agent, confirming a full termination of my graphic design free trial and deletion of my account to avoid any possible future charging mistakes.

Dear Student,

As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 07-Apr-XXXX XX:XX

Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

Shaw Academy will not refund an accidental purchase that was conducted with a one-click purchase popup on their site.
Shaw Academy partnered with T-Mobile USA to offer a free 4 week course. Choosing graphic design, I was made to keep a payment method on file. Using extreme spam marketing via notifications, e-mail and pop-up windows offering a "toolkit" at a surcharge of 34.95 USD, it could be purchased by accident with a one-click purchase pop-up window. Literally one click. I did accidentally press the button, when trying to explore the added service benefits, and I was indeed charged 34.95. E-mailing their support staff immediately thereafter, they now refuse to refund the purchase. Additionally, I have 10 total transactions on PayPal of withdrawals and refunds for some reason. Over 37 dollars I didn't authorize was charged to my PayPal account. Absolutely ridiculous. If you have to entrap people into paying for your services, you aren't a viable business to begin with. I am furious. If it is not refunded, I intend to notify T-Mobile USA with whom you are partnered, a business opportunity you seek to squander with these unethical sales practices.

Desired Outcome

Refund the 34.95 USD to my PayPal account immediately.

Shaw Accademy's "free trail" subscription courses are a scam. After following the appropriate steps, termination has not been possible.
On April 2, I signed up for a 4 week free trial Photography course to begin classes today, April 6, 2020 at 7pm.

I have not yet used this online course subscription, and do not intend to. I have followed all recommendations from Shaw academy to cancel my subscription, including, but not limited to, canceling online, calling the provided cancellation numbers, and emailing the cancelation email address, and have yet to receive confirmation that my subscription has been canceled and that my bank account will not be charged.

The has company continuously provided excuses for why they cannot cancel the subscription, even when I presented factual information to help them do so.

They have dodged several pointed questions regarding my request for cancellation.

So far, I have made 5 email attempts, 1 online attempt, and 3 phone calls to try to work with Shaw Academy on the cancelation of my subscription and to ensure that my bank card is not charged.

I have asked that Shaw Accademy provide email proof of cancellation and proof that my card will not be charged.

As of yet, they have failed to do so.

Desired Outcome

I would like for my subscription to be canceled and to receive proof from Shaw Academy that they have done so and will not charge my bank account.

Shawn Academy Trial Subscription Scam. Non compliance of offer. Breach of data protection. Harassment after subscription cancelled. Charged 2m later.
Dear Sirs,

I have came across a free trial offer for 4 weeks through Facebook. I clicked on the link and in order to see the courses offered I had created an account and informed my bank account number on the 16.02.20. Upon notice that no course offered by this company interested me I have asked for my trial to be cancelled the day after 17.02.20. I was told to do this from by login into account which I did. A few days later I begun to receive countless emails from this company telling me that there was a problem with my registration and to me go back without offer a credit card number. I simply ignored those emails as I wanted no dealings with this company. The card I had provided had not being charged ever after 4 weeks, in early March so I had no reasons to suspect I would be charged but early yesterday I had received a text from PayPal stating their fee would reach my account in three days. I immediately contacted PayPal and informed this to be an unauthorized transaction and because PayPal understand that this was authorised because I was the one who handled the credit card number PayPal was quick to dismiss my claim and close the case and now I am unable to reopen the claim stating that there was a problem with the service. I had contacted the seller in several different emails and had received a standard reply saying refund was not possible, that the offer is clear upon registration that they took the liberty to cancel from now and that they would give me 6 months for free which I have no use for. I felt so upset and outraged for they have used my bank details two months later, having kept my details against Data Protection Act and harassed me on the *** trial that I had replied with innapropriate language. They are aware that I have never benefited from the trial that I had not even fell for the trick of faulty registration and still they have proceeded to charge my card. I am still extremely upset as Im in low income and have other issues to resolve. I did not want to divert from my deadlines in another matter to be disputing a charge I clearly had no authorised, benefited from or that would benefit me in the future by any means as it is not on my goals to qualify for any of the courses they can teach at moment and they no that. If they can cancel after my complaint and after being already cancelled through PayPal why would they need to cancel again? That only shows that PayPal is involved in their scam as they still had the opportunity to keep charging me even though the subscription status was classified as inactive. I am appalled by PayPal collusion with this business or total lack of training for their employees on recognize fraud or to at least had asked for more evidence before closing the case as the emails exchanged would support my claim.
I hope after this detailed complain my fee will be refunded and I will never ever be bothered by emails from them again which were also a breach of GDPR principles.
Regards.

Desired Outcome

I look forward to the total refund and to have my details removed from their data base

Shaw Academy offered free 28 days of access, but charges me multiple times
I signed up for Shaw Academy from an ad stating it was offering 28 days of free access/trial. It asks for my credit card and charges 3 separate $1.50 entries on my card. Then, the class's "join now" button is right next to the "tool kit" button. I thought I clicked on the "join now" to get into the online course, but it turns out to be a "one-time click" tool kit and went ahead and charged me $34.95 with 2 more entries of $1.50 yesterday. I reached out to them and did not get any response. One of their classes is on web development and marketing. They purposely put these 2 buttons next to each other so that they can easily charge their students. This is not good practice. The "tool kit" is the lecture materials (slides, homework, etc) that is necessary to work through - but as a person trying this out, I don't want to pay so much. Lastly, one of the courses (smartphone photography), reference "up and coming" things for 2017. It's a very old and outdated course. In summary, this is a scam. Do not sign up for the class.

Desired Outcome

I seek refund of all the erroneous charges, especially $34.95 tool kit that I did not want

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I never purchased their services.
Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge for services to my credit card. When I reached out for help and explanation, they provided me with "free services" and will not respond further to my emails for an explanation.

March 02, I signed up for a 4-week free trial with Shaw Academy.
March 02, I was charged a .50cents pre-authorization fee.
March 13, I was charged .50cents three times (total $1.50).

March 27, I tried to cancel my services but the cancellation process was not successful.

March 27, I emailed the company for help.
March 27, they replied requesting that I provide them with the email I used for my account.

March 28, I found the link to cancel my account. I canceled it. There were no email confirmation about cancelation. The system simply brought me back to my account dashboard after I confirmed to cancel.

March 30, I was charged $59.99

March 31, they responded back asking for more details.
March 31, I responded back to Shaw Academy, and there were no additional responses.

April 01, they charged me $60.00. I logged back into my account, the system had my account active again. Then, email communication began after I reached out again. They provided me with an email of their terms and policy, an explanation of why they cannot refund me, and offered me three-months free.

April 01, I responded asking for more details and answers to my questions. They have not responded back to any of my emails.

April 03, I'm being ghosted by the company. They're refusing answer me.

At this point, all I want as a resolution is a refund of my $60.00 + $2.00 for pre-authorization charges, in a total amount of charges, $62.00.

I refuse to proceed forward with this company. I have reached out to them before the final date for my account to be refreshed and charged. Their privacy statement does not provide details on how to cancel the account. In addition, the terms and conditions do not explain what happens if a person reaches out to the company before their trial end date, inquiring about canceling their account before they're charged the full fee. Lastly, their terms and condition says their free-trial last 28 days, and I reached out to them for help two days before the end date to my trial.

Desired Outcome

I want a refund of my total amount in charges: $62.00. Also, the attorney general of New Hampshire should investigate this company and shut them down for shady business operations.

Shaw Academy Response • Apr 22, 2020

Hi ***

Thank you for your help with seeking a resolution with Shaw Academy. The number one goal for everyone who encountered this company negatively is for an investigation to be launched.

As discussed on the phone, I've attached an email response from Shaw Academy agreeing to refund me $59.99 in total charges.

Thank you, once again, for your help.
***

P.S. My last email to them was an attempt of a scare tactic in hope someone from the company would respond back to me. And it didn't work (LOL). All I wanted was my money back.

It is impossible to cancel subscription.
I registered for a free trial (which they ended up billing $1), then when I wasn't impressed with their offerings, I tried to cancel on their website. After clicking through multiple layers of them trying to coax you into changing your mind, it directs you to call. When you call, it goes through several layers of choices trying to retain you with different offers, then it directs you to email. I emailed and they respond with more trying to retain you, and direct you back to the original website if you really want to cancel which you can't because it just tells you to call again.

Desired Outcome

I want my membership cancelled and to never be contacted by them again. And, their cancellation procedures need to be corrected.

I am happy that my membership was finally cancelled as requested, but do not feel that the issue is resolved as they continue to have the same practice of deceptive process of cancellation when failing to cancel a free trial results in being billed. It took several days of website applications, phone calls, and emails being redirected through loops between the 3 before I was able to finally cancel.

This company refuses to refund my money.
I tried to cancel some transaction I never made, I called company cr but there's not an actual person to speak to, everything is with a recording machine they never sold my issue. I also email them and they only tried to sell me courses I don't need and they didn't help with my issue. I tried to cancel my subscription but there's not an actual website I can do it, they keep sending back to call and email but they never helped. I can't believe a company like this call themselves "professional" and "care" about us.

Desired Outcome

I only ask for refund and close my account, I don't want to keep getting charged for a service I never even tried.

Cannot cancel my account a trial account. I don't want to be charged after the 30 day free tria
I signed up for a free 30 day trial only to discover other hidden costs. I tried to cancel online, after being asked over and over about 6 times if I was sure I wanted to cancel I was then told that I had to call a number. I call the number and listened to automated options and was again asked multiple times if I was sure I wanted to cancel and each time I said no I was offered another "free" thing. Once I declined all of this over the phone I was told to close my account I would have to send an email to ***@shawacademy.com. I did this and I have not heard anything from Shaw academy other than how I need to log in to my class. I do not want to be charged and I want this account closed immediately. I have made attempts 3 different ways, I have replied to their class emails and no one will acknowledge my request and close this account. I feel as if this is a scam due to the lack of response after requesting to close my account. When I signed up I got immediate response through email and text but cancelling is another story.

Desired Outcome

I want my account closed and I do not want to be billed. I want acknowledgement through email that this account has been closed. My email is ***@msn.com. I opened this account on 4/1/20 so I should not be billed anything as I have not exceeded my 30 day free trial

Shaw Academy Response • Apr 23, 2020

Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription.

Fraudulent charges without the option to opt out of them as well as 3 individual hidden service fees for starting a free-trial.
I received an ad on Instagram on Saturday March 21st, 2020 for a 30 day free trial of Shaw Academy's Graphic Design course. I signed up and set my scheduled class time for Tuesday March 24th at 5:00pm. When the time for the class rolled around I was out grocery shopping, so I couldn't attend, but I received an automated call from Shaw Academy saying I could change my course time to a later date so I didn't fall behind.

When I got home I went to my profile page on their website and click the "edit" button beside the class scheduled time, upon doing so I received a pop-up saying my purchase was successful and that I had bought "Toolkit for Professional Diploma in Graphic Design Module 1". This was a purchase I certainly did not intend to make, no where was it indicated to me that clicking the "edit" button would instigate a purchase and I was not given the chance to say I didn't want to make this purchase.

I checked my billing history on their website to confirm a purchase was made and discovered it was in-fact a $34.95 transaction. I also discovered in my billing history that there was 3 separate "$1.00 card validation" charges made when I began my free trial and now after the most recent purchase there were 2 more $1.00 "card validation" charges. So now my free trial experience had turned into a $39.95 charge.

From here I contacted Shaw Academy asking to have these transaction refunded because they weren't intentional. On March 27th Shaw Academy replied to my email and informed me of the benefits of my purchase, but also provided me with $199 of store credit to ensure I had a positive experience.

On March 28th I responded saying

"Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me promptly.

Although I do understand it is in your company's best interest to offer me credit, I do not consent for you to continue my membership with your services and will not be accepting this option, nor using any of your services. As explained in my previous communication, I clicked on a button that said "edit" and was promptly charged without any explanation of what I was being charged for, nor any mention of a surcharge for attempting to alter the time of my course during your "free trial".

Currently, I will be expecting a refund for the charge of $34.95, as well as the $5.00 of individual "card validation charges" that I also have not authorized. To be very clear, I do not consent to ANY further charges in addition to expecting a full refund, and will not accept any imposed "cancellation charges" as I am sure you can understand.

I have received no information from this experience that was not charged, and as such the free trial that was advertised was misrepresented and I do not accept it, nor its terms or conditions. If not refunded, I will understandably have to be in contact with the Revdex.com as well as the RCMP in regards to the fraudulent charges."

It has now been one full business week since I have sent this message and I have not received a refund or response. I have since cancelled my membership on April 3rd by contacting their email address ***@shawacademy.com saying:

"I am cancelling my membership to all Shaw Academy services indefinitely. I do not consent to any further charge, such as cancellation fees. I am cancelling my membership due to fraudulent charges and repeated hidden fees. I contacted your support service alerting them to the situation on March 28th asking for a full refund but have yet to hear back from your company. Because of this I have no further choice but to report Shaw Academy to the Revdex.com on the basis of fraudulent charges."

Desired Outcome

For myself I am looking for the full $39.95 refund to my credit card and to ensure my membership is fully cancelled from Shaw Academy with no further hidden charges or access to their services. For Shaw Academy I want them to include a pop-up whenever any purchase is instigated that will require customers to confirm that they consent to the purchase, as is standard on most e-commerce websites. I also want their transaction buttons to be more clearly labelled so customers can better understand when clicking on a spot within the page, that it will begin the transaction process.

Customer Response • Apr 30, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I reached out to Shaw Academy at their priority customer service email, ***@shawacademy.com, but when they responded they only acknowledged my confusion about the hidden multiple service charges which they said were reversed. I can't access my credit card account right now so I can't confirm whether this is true or not. But, in their response email there was no reference to the refund request for the $34.95 tool kit they deceived me into buying. Instead they just provided the same 3 paragraphs of text they had sent before explaining what the toolkit is and how they would give me additional credit to make me happy. Which essentially returned us back to square one.

It is clear at this point that Shaw Academy will not provide me a refund through email as they know if they give me a refund it will set a precedent where they may have to provide refunds to many other customers who have been tricked into making additional purchases. I don't believe I will be able to attain what I am looking for, which at this point is primarily a fundamental change to their online sales process that will avoid scamming future customers into making additional purchases.

Thank you

They said I can cancel at anytime but they have made it impossible to cancel. I have contacted them in 3 different ways and it is still not cancelled.
I want to cancel my membership before they charge me when my free trial is over. I went through my account to cancel which was a very long process. Then they said I would have to call (XXX)XXX-XXXX to cancel. Then after I called the automated line said I would have to e-mail ***@shawacademy.com. I did that and a while later I got an e-mail saying I would have to go through my account to cancel which I had already done. It's an endless cycle and it is not possible to cancel. It is false advertising. I do not authorize them to charge me.

Desired Outcome

I want them to cancel my account. If they charge me it is fraud.

Shaw Academy Response • Apr 24, 2020

Dear Student,

As per your request we have cancelled your subscription on 07-Apr-XXXX XX:XX

Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I signed up for a free trial and was charged £30 after interacting with the site.
I signed up for a free trial of their graphics course, they asked for my paypal information to set up my account but assured me that I could cancel the subscription prior to the end of the trial and not be charged anything.

I was then shocked to discover I had been charged £29.95 by the site. There was NO indication on the specific area that I clicked that there would be a cost incurred. I have since attempted to cancel my membership, via the website, a convoluted automated phone line, email and SMS; but I am still receiving messages insisting I begin this course.

I haven't downloaded any information or data from the site. I just want a refund for the unauthorised charge on my card.

Desired Outcome

Full refund

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
I had registered in Jan and attended 3 classes during the trail period and since their their classes were not relevant to my requirement. I stopped using it and also told them that I would not be interested in continuing. But they had not cancelled my subscription and pursuaded me to continue - which I did not realise, however I stopped using their services. After two months - they have deducted money from my credit card. When I contacted them they mentioned that I clicked on the purchase certificate, when I haven't used their classes how can I apply for a certificate. I do not have a job and I do not want to pay when I haven't used their service - I have requested them couple of times to refund it but they said they cannot.

Desired Outcome

Can shaw academy refund back the money back to my account.

Respected Revdex.com-( team,
Thank you so much for your help.
Shaw academy has sent an email stating that they are unable to process the refund back so instead they have offered free use of their website for a years time. This is for your information. So is it possible to close this case. Let me know.

Thanks again

They promise a 30 day free trial then trick you into a purchase by having a very sensitive, 1 step link designed to be hit accidentally as you scroll
I wish that I had checked out all of the complaints against the Shaw Academy before I signed up for a Nutrition course. The intro explains that 'the free trial needs a form of payment entered in order to prevent people from signing up for multiple free trials and to protect Shaw Academy from fraud.'
It all happened April 4, 2020 in a 10 minute window of time.
I created an account and then was able to see a preview of the first module. Immediately, I knew that the course wasn't going to suite me:
1. The instructors voice was irritating to me
2. The schedule was too rigid
3. Within 5 minutes I had received 2 emails, 2 texts from different numbers in Quebec, a voicemail from California and a WhatsApp message.
I was scrolling through the information to find the 'cancel' or 'unsubscribe' options. I touched a red text that went directly to a payment for some toolkit that in any reputable business practice would have allowed me to VIEW the product first and DECIDE to purchase it for $34.95.
Attempts to reach the other end of each of the 6 methods Shaw Academy had used to contact me where dead ends.
I located an email 'here' for support link and got an automatic response for my inquiry as to 'how I could be refunded for the unintended purchase of an undisclosed toolkit?'
I hope that they will reverse the sneaky charge for $34.95 Cdn back onto my Visa in a timely manner.
If the Revdex.com is not able to compel the Shaw Academy to cease their deceptive 'sales' tactics who would be?
After seeing all of the other people with complaints about the same hair-trigger text and charges that went through after their relationship with the 'Academy' had ended, I wonder why they are still allowed to actively take people's money without their consent?? If that many people have taken the time to reach out to the Revdex.com, I wonder how many more fell for the misleading tactics and didn't feel that they had a voice?
If I remove my payment method then they won't be able to refund me. It sounds like they were able to perform transactions on customers who had removed their information from the payment section of the Shaw Academy site anyway.
I have participated in a number of reputable online courses - free and paid. I understand that they are a means to gain more customers and future sales.

I have never encountered such agressive and deceptive tactics.

Desired Outcome

Thank you for providing a forum to reach individuals who may have been affected by the deceptive tactics of The Shaw Academy. Also to reach those and warn them before they fall prey. I really want my money refunded. I feel as though my rights as a consumer have been violated. Internet marketing and sales is moving leaps and bounds ahead of legislation to govern it. Can you reassure consumers that steps are being taken to minimize our future risks?

This company won't let me cancel my subscription anymore.
I've subscribed for a free trial with this company, but wanted to unsubscribe because I can't attend the classes, so I checked on how to do that, and I found tons of reviews about this topic. This company won't let me unsuscribe until the free month will expire so that they can charge me. I wan't to cancel, I went true the all proccess twice and been told to do it again. First on the website, than I had to call a number that after 9 atutomated choices told me to send an email. And on both email I dind't have an answer.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

I signed up on 2/27/2020 with Shaw Academy for a 4 week trial. I've been trying to cancel my membership since the week of 3/16 and I am not able to. I want to cancel before my 4 week is up. The phone number that was given through their website to cancel kept hanging up on me. When I select a call back, they would call back to just hang up on me. Then I emailed their support team, which is no go. I got the run around leading me back to the website to cancel. They told me that was the only way. I finally got the phone to go through the cancellation process but after going through the god painful phone tree selections, I was instructed to send an email to ***@shawacademy.com to cancel. I sent the email to that email address, but it got a bounce back. Now, I'm afraid they're not going to cancel me in time and they will start charging me monthly subscriptions. This online class is the most frustrating and irritating company I have ever dealt with. I would like to end my subscription. It should not be that hard. They are such a scam. I wish I have looked at Revdex.com before signing up.

Other (requires explanation) I would like my subscription canceled and no charges to come out of my account that I have on file. I would like to never hear from Shaw Academy again.

Shaw finally got the message and they did not charge my account after the free trial ended. Thank you for being here and allowing us to file a complaint because business like this should not be operating or at least make an awareness for future customers to watch out for.

I subscribed for the free marketing course trial two days ago, and then changed my mind. When cancelling my membership, I get a pop-up that states that my account is being set-up and can't be cancelled. When reading reviews I'm now worried that they won't cancel my account and I'll still be charged. I would just like my account to be cancelled

Dear Student,

As per your request we had cancelled your subscription on 25-Mar-2020 08:24

Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I signed up for a free trial with Shaw Academy (18.02. 2020). I set up a reminder to cancel as I was not up with my ENTIRE month of free trial. I've already been charged on my credit card twice in amount ? 24.95. Before I even start with the program. I was sent an email 2 days ago, informing me that query has been received and has been given the unique ID number #XXXXXXX. One of there support staff will be in touch with me to address my issue. But thay didn`t. I didn`t recive any bill for charged, because of that I don`t know what a have been paying. I want my money back because this is really low. They stole my money. And I don`t know for what. So I won`t give up until you give me my money back. Also when I googled this issue I read about the hundreds of people with this issue. Please refund me and deactivate the account as soon as possible if this is necessary.
