GoDaddy extorting money from us (IMHO)
My wife and I own a small consulting business (SJSConsulting.com) We have had that website for years GoDaddy was hosting the site We have paid every year, for their fees for hosting the site, domain name, and email service We received emails and other marketing materials from GoDaddy We received two emails for invoices and paid those for email service and web hosting service Somehow, amongst all the other emails from GoDaddy, we missed the ones for the Website domain The amount was small, maybe $ Today, we find out that GoDaddy released the domain name, even though we have paid for the other two services
When GoDaddy releases the domain name, companies, who GoDaddy will not disclose, buy the domain name Those companies work with GoDaddy to extort monies from of the original domain holder so that we may “buy” the name back for $ Now we have to pay GoDaddy $to get the name back from the domain name “opportunist
WHAT is happening to GoDaddy?! I have had nothing but good experiences with GoDaddy until todayI have numerous urls that I have purchased throughout the years, and recently have launched my new business url through themApparently you used to get email credits associated to urls you purchased, which they haven't done in yearsI had email credits, which were NOT listed as being associated with specific urlsI set up my business emails with these credits and they were attached to random urls I owned - NOT COMMUNICATEDSo when I let a url expire that I did not use, one of my business emails were abolished - NOT COMMUNICATEDI proceeded to speak with agents, both of whom were condescending and insultingI have lost ALL my emails from a new business account...the last agent thinks that getting $off an email plan (which costs $130) is good offerI repeat - I LOST ALL MY EMAILS FROM MY NEW BUSINESS because it was not communicated that retiring an unused URL would do that...and
Go Daddy has engaged in unethical behavior related to the renewal of domain names Its not surprising to see the volume of negative reviews on this website given my own experience Go Daddy doesn't allow consumers to turn off the auto-renew option on domain names in advance They also don't allow me to delete my payment information to avoid being charged in the event I forget to turn off my auto-renewal prior to the renewal date They're basically betting on consumers forgetting to cancel their auto-renewal option so that they can collect more fees While I believe it is unethical this may end up being criminal
Multiple days of service down without any time frame for resolutionNot willing to take long route to fix issue for individual problem while working on solution for all customers
I have worked as a tax preparer for years and have had a godaddy virtual server for almost yearsIn the past months I have made several calls and attempts to gain access to this server and godaddy support escalated the issue which was no fault of my own to their senior support techniciansAfter several days I was informed my only option was to re-provision the servertheir fancy way of saying buy a new onethis first off is completely unaceptable as I paid to have the server available 99% of the time in their SLA here ***I am more than concerned that they are running a scam best effort service and not a 99% uptime reliable service as advertisedI have now lost over years of tax returns that I have provided my clients a guarantee that I would hold for yearsI have been with godaddy for several years and this just completely ruined my support and confidence in their productsTechnical
I called Godaddy.com over weeks ago to purchase emails to my email account that I have with themThere was an issue with the emails the next day so I called back and spoke to a person that told me that's not what I want (the emails and that he had a solution) and he told me that I needed Office So I purchased it for my businessSince the purchase I have had problem after problem after problem (I currenlty have over hours of talk time with approximately agents/supervisors of Godaddy)Most have tried something different to fix the problems and each one tells me to let the program load (it takes a couple hours), but it will work after it loads (the reason they are telling me this is so that they can get off the phone with me, because they don't know how to fix it)I've had people "drop" the call and they are suppose to call you back if the call is dropped (none did, because they didn't know how to fix the problem)I have asked to speak to a manager, but the
I called the billing department today when I realized that I was being charged the wrong sales tax rate on my purchase The person I spoke to was (I believe) reading a script and said, " the tax is computed by an algorithm based upon the information in your profile" I tried to explain to him that there must be a bug in their algorithm He then said again (with some emphasis) IIT'S AN AUTOMATED ALGORITHM I explained that I was charged 8.4% tax while the tax for my town is 7.375% He then came back with some strange answer about adding in an e-commerce fee and that is where I figured I was getting nowhere From my records this problem goes back at least to I wonder how many other tax rates are wrong based upon their ALGORITHM?
In December, our primary business changed ownershipThe ownership change includes transfer of the associated websiteWhile the transfer itself was not very smooth, I am bothered by the refund for services pieceWe are now reduced to a one income householdGo Daddy has issued an "in store" credit for refund instead of sending a check or refunding the method of paymentWe do not plan on using any of Go Daddy's services in the near future due to restricted income and because of this practice will most likely not use them in the futureThe in store credit feels as though they are trapping use to use their business again
Godaddy offers an email marketing pro program They are misleading and falsly advertising the services
They say 5,subscriber limit, but are falsly representing this number The reality is they only allow 5,"Unique" subcribers per month This is not stated anywhere and is misleading
I currently have 5,in my list but they wont let me send because they say I went over my "Unique" subscribers Once again, falsly represented and not stated anywhere on godaddy.com
Godaddy keep preventing my firm to transfer my domain (conswinrealty.com)to bluehostI have unlock my domain and follow its domain transfer instructionsI contacted the company many times during last monthTime is essence for my firm to transfer the domainHope I can get the issue solved here
I wanted go daddy to host my website, but after all of the confusion on how to transfer my domain, I cancelled the hosting and was refunded my moneyA week later go daddy decides to go back into my bank account for a retry payment, I called them and spoke with a representative named Steven and I informed him on what happened and he said go daddy did not go into your account because you do not have any business with us anymore since you cancelled your service, and I explained to him that they still went in my account, he said to me the bank must have went in your accountSo I called my bank and they told me that go daddy is the merchant who has access to your checking account to do a retry, and they were responsible for this transactionIts so disturbing how these people can lie to customers and take their money without authorization
GOdaddy sold me a domain name called *** which I paid for and then took it away
I paid for it and won it at the auction, it belongs to me and I should be able to now use it
I paid GoDaddy $2,to design a personal website host and maintain it
After a long and effortful process in which I provided my desired website specification both in writing and in a phone call, they sent me a website that explicitly ignores my instructions and includes features that I requested to avoid
They offered to revise the website, however, that would take even more time and effort from me, and they already demonstrated that they could not follow my instructions
I demanded a refund, and they offered me only $out of $2,claiming that they have already put 80% of the work inHowever, their work has nothing to do with what I requested
Moreover, out of the $2,the web design service amounts to $2,and the rest is for web hosting and securityThey refused to refund the last two items claiming that more than days have passed since I ordered itHowever, the web design process takes more than days!!
I renewed domains weeks ago via godaddy.com and paid $ The GoDaddy added domain privacy service amounting to $
I would like to make a Revdex.com complaint to get my $back and a previous $because the GoDaddy system automatically added domain privacy service fees without my knowledgeWhen I contacted GoDaddy to get my money back, they were were not able to help because I did not have a pin # which only GoDaddy could have given me
I then contacted Paypal since I made the payment of $to GoDaddy via my Paypal accountI submitted claims and appealed claims to Paypal to get my money back from GoDaddy but they were not understanding
I don’t understand how I can be charged a domain privacy service which I did not wantAs a customer, I am being forced into buying something which I did not want
As a last resort to complain about GoDaddy and Paypal, I am appealing to you
Just as a FYI - I would not have signed up for domain privacy service beca
I have three Deluxe Web Hosting Linux plans with Godaddy and had these for a long time, around years
Godaddy takes pre-approved payments for these plans directly from Paypal every month through a Paypal agreementThe base price was set at USD $8.99/mo
I use many services of Godaddy and receive an overload of notifications from them, which is nice to have
The prices never really increased
By paying attention to emails I had received, it came to my attention that Godaddy was slowly and quietly gauging the prices for these services by almost 100%, without any notification in advance
Even in the emails where I get billed, there is a tiny little sentence that states : "We're changing the prices for some of our web hosting plansClick here to see if this impacts you."
However, nothing in the headline, or in the upper body of the email suggests there is any kind of price increase
This means Godaddy quietly increases the prices by almost 100% (the fee is USD $13:99/
I have a charge on my bank account for $and from DNH*GODADDY.COM 04-*** AZ BB&T CHECK CARD RECURRING PYMTI already talk to them and they have not be able to help meI have never authorized this chargeI don't know why are they charging me This is really a security loophole in godaddy, I am very upset because I laid my trust keeping my credit card details in my godaddy account
I have a hosting plan with godaddy.com for a few years nowI have hosted all my websites which are data driven which involve databases tooI am on yearly auto pay for this hosting serviceThis febraury, my credit card expired and godaddy deleted everything from my accountI mean, who does that? Customers should atleast get day to come back, right?
And if they delete everything, there must be a way to find the data on their backup harddisks but NOThey say they dont keep backup data for windows based hostingThey keep backup only for unix based hostingWhat?
What am I supposed to do now? All my work, programs, websites are all gone just like thatThis is not a good business practice at all
It saddens me that I have to write this letter due to the unprofessionalism and horrible experience I had with your
company on a recent transaction, especially being a long time customerOn 11/29/around 1AM I called your customer support department to follon a credit for an Office Business Premium account that I cancelled today that was purchased back in June of this yearI spoke to Jacob and he advised me the policy had changed that GoDaddy was no longer giving refunds on un-used subscriptionsI advised him that when I spoke to the sales representative back in June she advised me I could cancel anytime and get a store credit for the un-used portion if I paid for the whole year up front, which I didIt’s obvious I was not told the truth back then, but nevertheless I asked Jacob to make an exception as I was not properly informed of this change and to please give me $credit which I could use for our annual GoDaddy SSL CertificateHe said “No” and then got an atti
