GoDaddy – Worst Registrar Who Will Nickel & Dime You Relentlessly!
After being a GoDaddy member for approximately years, I finally realized how chintzy and arrogant their attitude is towards long-term customers and probably short-term ones as well!
Back in the February/March time frame, I made various purchases (5-year web hosting, 3-year SSL certificate, Site Lock, etc.) in anticipation of leveraging GoDaddy as a web hosting provider for my website Needless to say, the performance experienced on the web hosting was nearly non-responsive with extremely inferior technical support Responses included “we are aware of the problem and looking into it.” As a result, I found a much more reliable hosting provider, which is also one of GoDaddy's competitors However, during the amount of time which was necessary to successfully transition all the capabilities to the new provider, I apparently canceled my services slightly beyond the 45-day window After explaining how it was no fault of my own for the extremely poor quality of service and necessity to ensure proper migration to new provider, I requested a full refund for services not utilized After speaking with various unsympathetic persons including individuals from the Billing Department, I was tritely told it would be necessary to attain an in-store credit rather than refund for the approximately $amount remaining from the prorated refund earlier this calendar year I continue to find this extremely unacceptable as GoDaddy showed no attempt to fix my technical nor billing problems, which took more than days Apparently, their only concern was “bleeding me for another $600” rather than providing a refund of my money Shortly thereafter, I moved web hosting for my domain to a much more reliable provider Moreover, was advised to send correspondence to GoDaddy CEO via blakesblog.com website Not surprisingly, no response whatsoever was received!
More recently, paid GoDaddy $for a year of auction membership on their website For some unknown reason, I was continually redirected to 'My Products' page rather than auctions After two phone calls to technical support, was informed my account was suspended for not purchasing a prior domain name Explained I had no knowledge of such a transaction and asked why I was not informed of such action Thereafter, a billing supervisor stated we can restore your access for $ Subsequently, told him I was tired of being “nickeled-and-dimed” by GoDaddy, particularly as a long-time customer who obviously spent much money over the years with their company
Bottom line, GoDaddy could care less about its customer as attaining the almighty dollar is all they care about! Would definitely tell others to avoid at all costs!
This is a classic "bait and switch" offerI have attached a screenshot of the offerIt is complete and only my account information has been removed (black bars)Godaddy sent me an email offering, "20% off your domain renewals*" The offer said, "Use promo code ***" And, "This special offer is good for .com, .net, .org, .co, .info, .biz domains only." According to the email, the offer expires May 18, 2018." (Note: The expiration is more than a week from the date of this narrative
I went to renew my ".net" domain online at their website but, when I entered the promo code at checkout, it was refused with this message, "This promotional code does not apply to renewals AND requires a $minimum orderAdd $in new products to save 20%."
Since the email offer clearly stated it was for renewals I re-entered the promo code but it was rejected with the same messageI called their support numberI spoke with MichaelHe told me the promo code was not good for renewals I p

I canceled Godaddy website hosting several years agoI continued to get charged, so I canceled again on January 21, I have the cancelation email from 1/21/ As I had previously cancelled service, my January charge was refundedI received an email on January 21, 2018, confirming that my service was canceledMy earlier cancelation attempt was confirmed in an old email address that I no longer have access toAgain, I do have access to the 1/21/cancelation confirmation from godaddy.comOn July 28, 2018, I received an email stating that my service would be automatically renewed on 1/4/ I signed in and saw that my service was indeed set to automatically renew on 1/4/I called and the customer service representative confirmed that the service was set to renew 1/4/even though I had previously canceled serviceHad I not called, I would have been automatically charged for the service that I had canceled twice beforeI believe that I have been receiving charges
On 6/23/18, I called into GoDaddy customer service as I began to notice I was being billed monthly in amounts from $8.99-$for Web Hosting I clearly know that I've purchased the domain name, and purchased renewals for it, but I absolutely did not purchase web hosting, because I've always had free hosting through my POS providerWhen I spoke to the customer service rep, he accused me of having purchased this web hosting plan in 2015, which is just not true I know that GoDaddy is notorious for auto-checking boxes for add-ons at the end of purchases, so I've been pretty meticulous in recent years/orders about ensuring that there are no hidden charges sneaking in my orders, but I absolutely did not order this service I have several domains with GoDaddy, and some email service ($4.99), but never needed web hosting The representative blamed me, and told me he would not be able to issue a refund for the serviceI was highly shocked He even knew that I had not used the service
I cancelled my annual contact for internet services on 1/7/after receiving a reminder email forv1/8/renewal
I deleted the site and content as well as completing the company's exit survey- twice
days later 1/9/My account was billed the annual fee I attempted to speak yup Customer service rep Phil who refused assistance because I had no PIN for the accountHe stayed I could look out up on the accountI offered multiple other forms of identification as when I now went to the account I received a error messageHe refused Amy assistance, I requested another representative or a supervisor He refused staying none were availableI quoted him their ad 24/service and started I was being refused very basic assistance Including access to a supervisor
He said I should hang up and call back of I wanted another rep bit that no one there would assist in my need
I notified him of my intent to report this company to the FTC & Revdex.com
I asked for his identity oth
Justin; a representative of Godaddy.com called me soliciting his businessI stated "no thanks" & hung up He called directly back and abruptly states that I should NOT hang up on him & that one of our employers had business with himI stated I understood that, That he is soliciting and that THAT employee HAD stated in the past he wishes not to ever take the call and had to hang up a second time
Two of my website domain names were set to auto-renew I received this email reminder notice before the auto-renewal date:

We make a good team
You made the smart, simple choice when you selected auto-renewThe following domains will renew automatically on the dates listed belowAll that's left to do is enjoy your purchase
If you'd like to review billing details, select View All RenewalsOr, to extend your term, select Renew Now
Of course, if you ever have a question, our support team is here 24/

Nowhere in the email did it indicate that the renewal term would be for years On the auto-renewal date, I received an email telling me that the domains had each renewed for a 2-year term I only wanted to renew for year When I called GoDaddy customer service, they told me that they could not "take time off the renewal" and adjust it to a one year renewal They also refused to issue any sort of credit They said that their policy is make the auto-renewal
Today I noticed a chatge to my bank account in the amount of $I called to inquire what this charge was for since I did not receive prior notice Come to find out it is a renewal charge for a birthday gift I purchased for a family member last year in 2/16/Here is the kicker they charged my new bank card which was receuved by me in October I did not authoruze them ti charge this new card When I spoke with the representative he stated that I had used this new card for my initial purchase in february Bold face lie What they did is attach my card to my friend's account when I contacted them to update the billing information for my account When I confronted the rep about this, he said they did not He lied I want full refund to my bank account ASAP They are liars and predators
GoDaddy reversed an annual payment in the amount of $251, six weeks after the payment cleared our PayPal account and shut down our website at ***To make matters worse, they have been advertising Go Daddy services on this domain without paying the required $flat fee
I find charge for $from GoDaddy on my *** *** *** statement from on July 20th I call Godaddy on July 20th to inquire about the charge The agent at godaddy is unable to find the transaction in it's records and recommends that I charge back the transaction with American Express I file a dispute with American Express on July
I receive a letter in the mail from American Express on August 24th with information identifying the transaction and related information The letter contains all of the information I would have needed to cancel the service from GoDaddy and receive a credit
When I call Go Daddy today, I am told that since it's been more than days, they will no longer refund my charge There was no possible way for me to cancel within days The fact that I filed the dispute regarding the unidentifiable transaction with GoDaddy with American Express within days of the transaction date made no difference
That's crazy It is an unfair b
I purchased a hosting plan on Dec29, 2017, order # *** with email free for yearbut today I asked for help to setup email account, I was told that there is NO email plan for this order, so I called the support, and she is treated people as aliens, and say I dropped the email plan after order! what a ironic responseand offered to pay for new email plan as the order was bought as is nowi told her I have proof what we ordered that day, and I do not need anything else but original order, not the order now that you changed after we purchased! it is terrible practice like this, you changed the order and take the product from your package and now ask for more money, which I totally reject she and ask her to connect to her manager, and she refusedso here I am to ask for justice and tell the story to othersBe careful with the company like this, and keep your recordso she can't lie and hold her reponsonsibility!
get the proof, then I call you, okbut too much time
I wanted to speak with a supervisor because your representative couldn't help me and he said no because he didn't know if I had an account with go daddy or notI asked him times to transfer me and he was a complete ***, rude, and disrespectfulHis name is Joao and he was unprofessional and really didn't know know what he was talking aboutI am livid and pissed the *** off because anytime a customer wants to speak with a supervisor they should be able to no matter what
On 12/19/I ordered a domain name from Go Daddy from Web Site I copied and pasted the name I wanted from the face book page I already have "His Church are his People" I reviewed the email I received from Go Daddy and it had an 'S' at the end people since I copied and pasted I am not sure how that would happen but it was late so I made a note to call the next day I called and spoke to Grant and he corrected the mistake and then proceeded to sell me on a web hosting The service I had been looking at had free web site builder and unlimited email and gigs of space and unlimited bandwidth Grant assured me Go Daddy would match that and for a dollar a month cheaper He said if I did not like it I could cancel within business daysHe told me the builder was powerful and was just drag and drop well I bought it and paid for a year I went to my site to work on it and I found the website builder was not user friendly at all, and the first month was free then so much a mo
The most dishonest billing practices I have ever seenGodaddy uses hidden charges, deceptive and misleading ways to make you pay for something that you don't wan't or need and if you ask for your money back they will threaten you with loss of one or more domain nameDo yourself a favor and use another registrar
The unexplained mystery charges that appeared on my account was beyond a simple up sale technique Too much work to keep pace with the charges and add onsThe actual cost of doing business was beyond the introductory offers Customer service merely states that an email was sent, despite spam or countless up selling emails that any reasonable person ignoresSo I decided this service was not for meI tried to resolve the issue 2x and was not satisfiedI will pass on Go Daddy in the future - too aggressive technique for meI like old fashion services and fair play
Customer Service was not helpfulI cancelled all my accounts Go Away Daddy
